Hello I have a Htc evo 4g+ and we build cyanogenmod10 4.1.1.
However, there is one probelm. This rom doesn't work front camera!!!
So I change the lib file.... libOlaengine,libcameraclient,libcameraface....
I had to modify the files associated with the camera lib file
but isn't work...
help me!:crying:
Well for one, you state that you have the Evo+ which is almost an entirely different phone, and just swapping libs around won't fix your camera. You need the drivers for it. I'm not sure if they've been released for that phone or not.
ah ha

I'm assuming so. Its specs were a step above the OG from what I remember. Much like the 3D.

There is methods to root the evo
Unrevoked is where you need to go for that.. All cameras work on CM Build just no 4G or HDMI.
I just got a new EVO with the new hboot 2.02 and I was able to easily root with with the directions from this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045.
I chose to go with Myn's twopoint ROM and love it. Plus the 4g and hdmi work (unlike CM's current release).
The only things that don't work with CM are 4g and HDMI.
I was also a CM fan until I discovered Myn. There are lots of great ROMS for Evos, but CM and Myn's seem to have the most users (at least active ones) and Myn's tends to have the best satisfaction based on users.
CM is a developers playground while Myn is more user-friendly with its customization. Either way you can't go wrong with this phone

I'm getting a replacement evo on tuesday, I currently have a launch date evo with hardware 002 so im not quite up to date with the latest evos.. Now assuming it comes hardware 004 what would be the best method to root??? Also does it work with cm6 I read something about camera issues.. And last but not least does it work with kernels such as netarchy's with everything working??
Thanks for answering my questions really appreciate it, if there is anything else I should know about the newer evos please feel free to school me on them.

The 004 (and some 003s) have a new camera which uses different drivers, and since HTC is breaking the law by not releasing the kernel source ("yet") the CM team has to build up the drivers from scratch. Toastcfh has told me that he will start working on the camera as soon as he finishes polishing up WiMax.
As for rooting, it's possible. 2.02 and 2.10 hboot have both been rooted, they just take some effort, and do not panic. Also, knowing how to BS to a Sprint store rep in case you brick your phone is a good idea, just in case.

Does that mean no kernels work? For sense roms other then stock htc kernels

I have tried every kernel I can find and so far none of them work for me with the 004 hardware. I am currently looking for the stock #15 kernel if anyone has a link!!
I really wouldn't worry about it... All the refurb EVOs I'm seeing coming out of the warehouse are either 002 or early 003s. The 004s are too new as of right now.
My camera has stopped functioning all it will do is render pink static. I wanted to see if there was a work around before I do an rma for a refurbished phone. Any ideas?

You don't have to send it in for a refurb. You could always just replace the camera if you wanted to keep the exact phone you have now.
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-incredible-droid-camera-replacement.html
I haven't replaced mine, but I did replace the front bezel and digitizer, wasn't hard at all. I would believe the camera to be even easier to replace. I think there was a thread on here showing you how to do it also, unfortunately I can't find that at the moment.

My dad's phone had the pink hue on it. I rooted it, wiped it, tried different cameras, etc. Didn't help. Had to get a refurb.
Can't help on replacing only the camera, sorry.
When I had the OG DInc, I was using Conaps "DualRom" multiboot solution and was running 4 or 5 roms on my phone at a time. Which is great for someone like me who loves to flash different roms pretty much daily.
Anyways.... I did a little searching and everything regarding dual or multi booting I could find for the DInc2 generally suggested using BootManager, which is an app on the market and is not free. Call me cheap, or whatever, but I prefer open source and free apps. Back on the OG Inc someone had written a guide on how to do this without needing any fancy app, though it was long and tedious it worked quite well.
Does anyone know of a writeup for our phones for installing multiple roms?
Will ROM manager suit your needs?
I use ROM manger to boot all the ROMS i want. IDK If thats what your asking for but if you want a paid android app then do a google search.

Well if thats the case, then I am gonna try evolving the guide for doing it manually on the DInc to the DInc2.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, it shouldn't be that hard to go off the guide for the OG DInc. Mostly what would need to be changed is the mount points, assuming they use different mount points on the DInc2.

Yea, 4gb of actual emmc.
VZW told me that my Red DIncII would have 4gb of internal memory. HA!
The only way I can get the emmc to show up on the DIncII is to flash ICS B2.
It shows as a folder with 0.0 bites in size.
I just do it the old fashioned way of wipe n flash...
How hard would it be to take a working ffc driver from android 2.3 and edit it to work with android 4.0+? It seems like it would be easier than writing a whole new driver from scratch. I searched the forum as well as google but could not find any other info on it. Is this feasible or is it not compatible at all. I have no experience with kernels, only slightly with C, so I'm not sure how it would work.

I'm not a dev but I suppose if the two existing drivers shared enough code and you were able to write from scratch what was different or missing it would be possible. I think actually problem is htc never has released the new driver publicly .

yes. I knew they ceased development on the EVO without releasing anything (shame). Correct me if i'm wrong but the driver is held in the kernel? If there are any posts about the development of said driver, could someone point me to it? I would love to get involved into android dev. Thanks

From what ive read you cant really do that since theyre two whole different OS's and you would have to start from scratch and build your own driver unfortunately. :/
So why can't that file(s) be taken from another phone? There are plenty that have 8mp Rear and 1.3mp Front w/720p Video. HTC Inspire,Huawie Mercury to name a couple. Both got ICS. I have came close to just flashing an ICS Ron and seeing if I could find the Camera for one of those and flash the files to see what happens. Problem is I don't know anything about porting. But,from all I have read the most important would be making sure the same brand Camera is used. I also suppose 4G would be borked but Wimax is dead so no biggie.

The problem with just taking the camera app is that the driver is not contained in it. It would probably fc upon opening, let alone get all the way to the ffc. according to Wiki, drivers are either located in the kernel itself, or in "/system/lib/modules/" I have looked in the folder specified, and could not find the driver for the ffc, only wimax, and two files named "bcm4329" and "sequans_sdio". Im pretty sure those are not the ffc, but maybe if the kernel from a phone with similar hardware was reverse engineered, and the code taken from it, that would be the closest.
That's what I was talking about. I said files because not sure if it is a Kernel or some other form. I had downloaded Sabasa_Prime from here. I was going to take everything that had the word Camera attached and move it in via Root Explorer but the way I understand it that won't work. Is why I asked about someone trying to port the needed things from another phone.

Oh, sorry. I didn't read that correctly. I'm not sure how similar the camera would need to be in order to steal its driver. It seems like it could work, however in reality, the hardware is connected differently passing through different circuits, but that could be solved by looking at how previous versions of android calls for the camera. If I only had the time and patience I may take a peek into the kernel when I get home from vacation.
The Rom is designed for the Desire HD but there is an accompanied file for the Inspire users. Not sure what is in them because I never opened them. Wouldn't really know what I was looking at anyway. I did however search and compare them aide by side and that is the one thing the Inspire and EVO have in common,Cameras and Video quality. But,I believe I also read somewhere that they must also be the same brand hardware and I have no clue on how to find that out. I tried to search but no luck. I mention it because I am sure there are those around who have the knowledge to know if that matters and how to find out if they share the same hardware if it does.

That's what I thought. I think the closest we can get is taking a kernel from a phone with similar hardware, taking a kernel from the evo with a working ffc, look at how it's called for, combine that with the code from the kernel from the other phone, and that would get you close. I will see how similar the code is for the ffc, and see what I can come up with.
