You make no sense... you say you want to develop something, but u have no ideas, want a dev to help/teach you, tried to steal something as your first contribution, and now you say you arent willing to read/spend your own money to learn? What kind of dev are you exactly? O-o

[Q] Kindle Fire on HSN

HSN has the kindle Fire on flex payments and I was trying to find out if it is the new version that I've heard can't be rooted or is it the original that can? I already have the Original which I've rooted and running custom rom on but I wanted to buy one for a gift for someone but only if I can root it. I've done some searching but can't seem to figure out which model HSN is selling.

I just Googled "hsn Kindle Fire", found Kindle Fire 7" 8gb on the result list......went to HSN's website and the description was clearly the 2nd gen Kindle Fire as it was specifying the 1.2GHz CPU and 9 hour battery life. The 1st gen Kindle has a 1GHz CPU and specifies an 8 hour runtime.

Yep, I clearly didn't search enuff b4 posting this question. I was in the heat of the moment about to pull the trigger on buying it but after I posted this question I continued to search and figured it out and didn't buy it. Maybe this thread can save others from buying it as well if they expect it to be rootable. Sorry, didn't mean to waste xda's valuable server space and enter a legal proceeding yes it "clearly" does state.

After a little further research it seems a few ppl have had some luck with rooting it... It looks like a shaky proceedure atm but promising but no roms exsist as of now. Thought I should point that out as to not completely hinder someone elses decision to purchase the kf gen 2... As for myself I'm still gonna pass and continue enjoying the original kf and all its incredible development.
Yes confused I am, blame it on the Christmas tree

Where can I download the kindle fire drivers?

I know the kfu has where you can install the drivers but where can I download it to install it manually?

Hey hi
Please note kf doesn't need drivers
If you r connecting it to your pc then I suggest you to try connecting it to back USB port on CPU

They'll help in the sense that they say “what did you do? Root it? OK, well no more warranty for you, no returns, no help, and don't ask for any more support from us!" So if that is what you mean by help, they will most definitely help you!
Just in case my sarcasm wasn't clear, DON'T contact Amazon support to help you, just do what you did, and ask here where this is a nice community of devs and support.
And greezal, another option that I think should work is getting the drivers through the android SDK, but I don't know. Did previous comments work?
What sort of problem are you having?
You also might want to read this thread, and see if this is similar to what you're experiencing.

I was having trouble with the usb mass storage, but I had to uninstall the driver and reinstall and the rom I flashed threw me for a loop. but I figured it out now. Thank for all the help with all my problems and questions.
ROOT does not mean void warranty for good, just mean void warranty till you unroot or use cwm to return kindle to stock rom

I highly doubt you can downgrade to 6.3.2 from 10.2.6 unless someone had a weird idea of porting the 6.3.2 firmware to the 2nd gen. Although the 1st and 2nd gens have "somewhat" similar specs, they are different.
I'm not a developer, but I've rooted 2 KFs in the past several weeks. According to this sticky which I've read and is titled "**WARNING** You will BRICK YOUR KINDLE if you don't READ THIS FIRST!!!", the roots are designed for the first generation KFs only. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928866
So you mean it's impossible to root my Kindle? But I hope the XDA dev team will come up with a solution to this cause my friend has a rooted Kindle using Cyanogen Mod 9 and I may say with the 1 gb and 1.2 Ghz Processer it's as the Google nexus 7

It is not impossible to root your 2nd gen. Kindle Fire. But, if you try to root your 2nd gen Kindle Fire using the methods made for the 1st gen. Kindle Fire, you will brick your device, probably permanently.
