S pen issue

So whenever I try and use the s pen it sucks. If I hover over anything it acts like i selected it. I just want to know is there a way to disable this. I don't want the s pen to do anything unless I actually touch the screen with it.

My phone also does this. I'm waiting to see how bad of a problem this is before I make my decision.

I believe that's the Airview feature of the S-Pen which you can disable from the S-Pen option settings.

It's a known problem.
Some people have taken the pen apart. Rather, i just slammed the pen on a hard surface a few times.

What, like throw it down flat, or stab the point onto a hard surface?

Had the same problem, returned the phone and got a new one.

Mine is fixed now too....before the tip wasnt springy and now it is.....wow works perfectly!

Holy ****, it fixed mine. I dropped it with a little bit of force, and sure enough it quit messing up. I appreciate it. I was also about to return mine.

I ended up swapping my pen for a returned pen. Tapping the pen mostly fixed it but it still had a problem on a the right side of the screen where I would have to tap really hard to activate a button press.

Best troubleshooting for your S Pen
Thanks this method worked for me too!!! Gave it two gentle slams on the table and was good to go. LMAO!! I called samsung to report the issue and they had no way of helping me out, I will call them back and have them implement this technique into their troubleshooting steps.

S Pen Issue
Having a problem, wondering if its just me.. When i go to use S Note, the pen is automatically set to the eraser, and if i select the brush mode, its still using the eraser. I can only write if i press and hold the button on the s pen, then bring it close to the screen.. and then its like an etch a sketch where my lines would all be connected.. As soon as I take the s pen away from the screen and go to write again, its back on the eraser! any help would be greatly appreciated..- Matt

That's not how it's supposed to work. Maybe you have a defective device? Either way I would bring it back to T-Mobile to get it checked out. Are you running a custom rom?

Mine was hover selecting too but updated to the latest OTA, still had the issue. So I disabled and re-abled Air View and my problems were fixed. All has been good for a few days.

Yeah, it was working before but now its just all screwy, im waiting for my buddy who also has the Note 2 for tmo to come by im going to try his pen. This way I can figure out if its the pen or the phone. Thank you for letting me know that this isnt how its supposed to work!

Touch screen gone crazy

I just purchased my galaxy note 2. After the 4.1.2 update my touchscreen is acting crazy. It's like its registering touches that aren't there. Like I will open spotify and it will select a song and start playing when I just open the app and my fingers are nowhere near where my fingers are. Anyone else having this issue? It's kinda like this video I found of the first note on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAAWDwPVYmk&feature=youtube_gdata_player. Any feedback is appreciated. Has your phone been fully stock and unrooted all along?
Have you tried rebooting it?

Yes I have done nothing to it except for the update from AT&T.

Try a factory reset. Good etiquette after an update.

Yeah I should, I was hoping to avoid that due to my authenticators on my phone. Pain in the butt to set them up again. I will try and see if it stops.

Well I just did a reset. All seemed well as my apps were updating. When they were done I slid down the notification menu and touched clear all button. After I did that it registered 3 touches (I know because of the reset the annoying water sound for touches is back on). It opened 2 apps just by touching the clear button. I must have a faulty screen. Strange it didn't happen until the 4.1.2 update.

This may sound crazy but I do it once a week... I put a little squirt of Hand sanitizer on my screen.. rub it onto the screen and then wipe off with a paper towel. The glass looks perfect afterwards. maybe your glass is just dirty.

I actually do that as well. Not only to keep it nice but to keep the germ filled touchscreen from getting me sick since I deal with the public then touch my phone then take a call. Gross when you think about it. I am going to exchange this phone this morning I have had it for a week,

Yeah, I would call it the digitizer as well - - not fun to buy/replace.
Good thing it's still fairly new.
Pretty wild though.. I thought it was your Palm at first, then you moved it.
Serious question, do you have a black note 2? Or is that a colored glass screen protector?
Maybe my eyes deceive me.. Lol

It's a titanium note 2. The lighting sucked because I had to catch it in action.
I did get a new phone and I am not having the issue anymore. I think it had a short in it. I am glad to get it on here though, so if others have the issue it may provide some help.

I am on my 3rd Optimus G and haven't had and dead spots. I am assuming you are referring to pixels. There was someone on IRC who had an OG with a broke screen. His issue was half the screen didn't come on. I am not sure if that was a hardware issue or if it was physically broke.
I have only had one screen issue and it was on all three OG I have had. There is a bit of light leak on the edges and top. Light leak is when the back light of the screen shines around the edges on a dark screen. I think that is a common universal issue. But, the screen is very vivid and not many people have had complaint about it.
Can you clarify you issue? We might be able to give you some ideas. If you are the original purchaser it is under warranty still. If not, I recommend TEP. If you are on XDA then TEP is a must.

What happened to the previous 2?

when i run my finger across the screen in the middle it wont detect my touch. if i turn on the options in the developers setting to see what its doing you can see when it traces a line, it skips in the middle and starts again about a half inch later. only had the phone for a week or so, so thats not a problem. had a similiar issue on my evo shift way back when. had to take it to sprint store then too. any way i have an appt at 9 to have them take a look at it

Held my rum and coke under my phone while texting drunk. The phone is big, the cup was bigger. 0.4 nano seconds was all it took.
Second one, testing gone wrong, fixing went full [email protected] wrong.

well they are out of stock on the G.. on backorder for a week before i can get replacement. wtf.
had to laugh cuz the "tech" didnt know how to turn off the screen touch traces in the developer settings lol

man this is annoying. seems like everything on the phone depends on that part of the screen ie hitting send for texts and other things lol

Have you tried in landscape? This is a way for me to do certain things when customers come into the store with touchscreen issues.

Landscape is more annoying than the screwed up spot lol

[Q] screen damaged playing a game?

I've been playing dungeon hunter 4 on my note 2. I noticed the screen got really hot where the control virtual buttons are, but noting abnormal. Now that I stopped playing for a week, I noticed there seems to be a damaged spot where the game virtual controller was. It looks like a smudge. I clean it and it goes away, but about 5 mins later it comes back.
I attached a pic, the light makes look worse, but it is visible.
Could the screen get too hot and get damaged from playing a game?

Is there a screen cover on the phone.

no, no screen cover.

I would say it looks like the oleopholic layer is wearing out or breaking down from the oils of your finger. First I have ever seen of it. I would contact samsung.

Touch screen problems

I just got this note 2 from CL. The top half of the screen works with finger touch but the bottom half doesn't work. The touch pen works on all parts of the sceen. Not sure the cheapest route is to fix this. I cant return to at&t cause bought outright. If anyone has any good ideas please I would love to hear them. Thanks

Just curious. Do you have Developer Options turned on?
If not go to settings, About Device. Click Build Number about 5-6 times. May be interested since it's at the bottom of the screen.
Wonder if you could rotate screen to where it's at the top of the screen.
What I'm looking for is Show Touches Under Input under the Developer Options.

I tried....shows touches on top but nothing on the bottom. Good idea tho!!

Well, maybe not. Just surfed a little, is there a screen protector on it? Doesn't make sense pen works but not finger.
