that's remarkable for DFT team but that leaves us WP7.x user thinking if that device can run windows phone 8 so why our devices cant run it???
anyways hope a port for Omnia w also comes......if only first its bootloader gets unlocked somehow.....
what do you guys think about the port??
I knew they'd do it! Cotulla and co are pure genius

Proof is in the pudding as they say!
Lets wait and see what happens, there have been many examples of projects only partially working and not released to the public, the two that come to my mind are WM5 on the Alpine and the WM6.5 "app os" in WP7
The guy is a genius without a doubt but its clear they wont released stuff if its not working correctly. So proof of concept? - yes it looks great, distributable ROM? - Not yet my friends (unless someone can point me to a link)
I am somewhat gutted my HD2 has broke tho

cool a bit down ... if you think that port will be somehow usable as main system . you a little bit wrong  . first generation barely handle windows 8 interface . and main prob . thats a cap . with bunch of problems
1. a bit slow harware .. - apps gonna require 9.3 DX .and some aspects which device does not have at all ( like 2nd core , and NFC )
2. Product Key
3. there is no compatible driver donor.
so in best case it gonna be - demo version . where you can run interface and os basic functionality . but thats all

First Maemo 5 SDK release targeting platform developers
This is good news IMO, Mameo is a very good OS, enjoy my Internet Tablet very much, and would be awesome if this fine software could be ported to Diamond, possible?
Well Mameo has been on the marked for some time now, many applications and games for the platform, which is what I know based on Debian Linux.
Would be very interresting to see this on a HTC device, now when Android is on the marked, nice to have som competition .
See the full articel here: http://maemo.org/news/announcements/first_maemo_5_sdk_release_targeting_platform_developers/
What do you guys think, could this be possible on the Diamond?
I want Linux on my HTC Diamond .
I want it, too
or somebody must buy a Nokia N900 for ME
yesss...
yeah that would be awesome,
but i guess you have to go through the same problems as with android, that all the drivers aren't working?
YES ! Please i want this... Just looked at the N900, but its to big :-(
woow... it's so cool.. hope maemo can work well in diamond..
looks promising..
Would be fun to have on the diamond
Hello,
Im quite new to this forum and read a lot of news about mobile phones lately. I saw a great dual boot application for wimo 6.5 phones to run android.
But now the new Windows Phone 7 is coming I'm thinking if its possible to dualboot it on a android phone.
ofcourse there will be hell a lot of work to get Windows phone 7 on an android device but if it will work out for a HD2 (wich i think will not get the update)
to hack it and install Windows Phone 7 why not try an android like the desire?
I really want to have Windows Phone 7 and I think it'll do good things for mobiles and game developers but i just can't hold it any longer with my n81 from nokia
and Q4 is to far away for me to wait for a new phone (I've read somewhere that the first HTC device with Windows Phone 7 will come in Q4).
regards,
Besuikerd
yes q4 but i think it's gonna be even later as this happens all the time. And i think you should wait at least for a month to see how the new system will perform since this is a major upgrade and not an update like 6.5 to 6.1.
...........
are there some new informations about it?
It can't be done. Android is open source making it possible (well, legal) to dual boot on WM phones, WM is not.
I'm sure it could be done if someone was brave (or stupid?) enough to get access to the source, but I don't think I would want MS on my back lol.
Just Got My HTC Desire (UNLOCKED)
and BTW loving every bit of it
was wondering that if in the future it would be possible to run Windows Phone 7 on HTC Desire??
or
[Poll] Whether anyone is interested to run windows phone 7 on Desire?
P.S. Just Learnt someone is working a port of andoid on the iphone (not )
Lol! That will take some effort to make.
It will be really good though, just depends on what future android releases are like.
Windows Phone can not be ported, cause it is closed source.
And why would you want that crap anyway?
I went with Desire cuz I didnt want to have a windows phone nor Symbian but had no money for an Iphone. lol. So thanks but no thanks.
lol the Desire is much better than the iPhone
You should be happy that you didn't have the money
That's like saying can iPhone OS be ported to the Desire.
Never gonna happen with a closed source OS.

you're calling it crap when it's not even out yet? 0.o
It might not be as good as android, but im sure it's not 'crap'
It's just my opinion, but yes, I call it crap.
i agree
I agree I had a windows phone everything was so complicated... windows stick to home pcs
Dualboot IMO
http://www.cnet.com.au/telstra-leak-shows-a-desire-to-range-htc-s-mozart-339304024.htm
looks just like htc desire but windows phone 7 .
maybe hardware specs r same as well
Android is open source, it can be configured to diffrent device configurations, windows phone isnt, as the most of the driver, sensors and hardware for the desire was written using the android open source project, they arnt compatible with windows phone full stop lol
If WP7 would ever be ported on Desire, I would probably just test it, to see what its all about. and then delete it...
It would be interesting to play with, but I doubt it would be possible
There's a project porting android to the iPhone, and it's proving very difficult even with Android being open source. So closed source, I don't think it would work..

If htc releases a phone with win phone 7 which hardware is equal to desire - might be a possibility.
But I can not imagine one dev wanting to do that

i dont even think that would be possible, the sdk htc used to write the sensor and harware code isnt compatible with windows, on the other hand, android can be configured to run on hardware written to run on windows phone thats the problem lol

So umnmm.....did anyone actually READ the link?
Today's internet leak is brought to you by our friends at Adobe Photoshop and is apparently known as the HTC Mozart.
A leaked internal Telstra document is offering the first indication of when we might actually see a Windows Phone 7 device in stores and all but confirms that HTC will be one of the first manufacturers to launch a phone running Microsoft's overhauled OS.
We suggest you forget about the image, which is clearly just an HTC Desire with a WP7 home screen photoshopped onto the front of it. However, what is really interesting is the AU$49 per month price cap, Telstra's newest and lowest available Next G cap. Everyone who assumed that the first swell of WP7 phones would run at a premium cost (us included) were obviously mistaken.

I would use it. The more I play with Windows Phone 7 the more I am sure it is going to be a serious player in the mobile world. I love the openess of Android, but I've been playing with several WP7 ui apps and I want more!
I would buy a WP7 phone as a secondary, but as of yet, I don't really like any of the hardware currently available with AT&T bands...
Wrong Thread
WP7 has been ported to HTC HD2; maybe it was easier because WP7 is based on Windows CE 6, as winmo was.
hi, i was wondering if there is any possible way to dual boot windows mobile and android on the desire hd? if not, are there any plans by the xda developers to pursue this issu?
Thank you
+1 I want windows mobile on my DHD only because I love the mod.
Sorry but I doute this will happen, though we have many talented ROM developers on here WinMo is closed source, thus not allowed on our devices. In contrast android is open source that is why other phones have both if they're licensed. It could happen but it won't happen here.
Again sorry to dispoint would of loved to try Windows Phone 7
WindowsMobile is impossible. WP7 is possible since hardware are almost identical, even same digitalizers...

I think he meant impossible from the legal point of view, because Microsoft would sue XDA and shut it down. I'm still hoping someone releases a dual boot anonymously.
why we can install android on HD2 But we cant do that with HD7
Why would you wanna do that?
If you want Android you are probably gonna buy an Android device in the first place and there are plenty of HTC Android devices.

Because as cotulla says : the hd2 is the king!!:]

Essentially because there's little call for it. The upgrade from Winmo to Android/WP7 was drastic and you could have a high end device on any of the 3 OSes by porting it. If you ported android to the HD7 you would have paid as much for a low-end android device as you would for a mid-high end WP7, it's illogical and stupid and thus there's no call for it.

The main reason is because there is no interest in doing this. And the reason for that is because there isn't anything wrong with WP7 as compared to WinMo. The reason the HD2 got all that dev love was to get away from WinMo on a superphone. WP7, though, happens to be the best mobile OS ever invented. So there just won't be as much or any interest in hacking the HD7 just to put an inferior OS on it.
see all
first must say ThanX 4 all
i want know only why the HD2 have all OS Rom
Y there is android rom for HD7
WP7 VERy Good
i can't say any thing
but only want tho know
I can never understand this response. I had a sdand/wp7 hd2 until it broke, and it was replaced with an hd7. I like wp7 better but android offers more functionality and has a lot of apps/games which are unavailable on wp7.
I loved the option of switching OS' at a click and I can't imagine there aren't many others just like me. The truth is that I spent much more time using android than wp7 when I had the choice of either.
I just bought a galaxy note so ill be saying adieu to wp7 for now but I seriously hope I can dual not wp7 on it.

...if I remember correctly, some guys from xda-developers already came up with an Android version on a WP7 device, just to show that it can be done. However it didn't really work properly....
no one can understand me
sorry about that
i want know how to make an android Rom that run on HD2
and how it work ?!
that's i want know
~Sorry
