It is based on the latest OTA 2.42.405.4 for the HTC Desire Z (EU HTC__102).
Features: Rooted, Zipaligned, Init.d Support, Busybox, Ramdisk Rooted
Odexed
Download Odexed
Deodexed
Download Deodexed
Known Issues: Wifi will not be able to be enabled (wifi driver failed to load) [kernel issue] - will be fixed soon. Wifi will work again if you use a custom kernel. <- needs to be checked again. feedback would be nice.
If you like it, press "Thanks" to me.
Cheers

I was wondering if someone was going to do this... may make a nice base, thanks!

i thought .5 version was the latest.
.4 rooted exists in virtuous sense thread for like 4-5 months.

.4 is the latest after returning to stock and updating over ota.
there is nothing newer after a check for ota on my desire z.
cid is set back to HTC__102 and my dz have s-on again.
I did this dump with fre3vo temproot and "busybox dd".
cheers

yeah i think the newest needs to be flashed as an RUU

Isn't this only for the G2? I'm downloading it now, will check it out later. Maybe virtuous G-lite will benefit from this.
Desire Z got an OTA 2.42.405.5 which is about 15MB http://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Vision_Gi...2.42.405.4_release_292229t6sy3e0hp98gom5x.zip
405.5 has radio, hboot, stock recovery inside it. Don't know if they are updated versions.. Its better we wait before applying this OTA.

Was there a radio update included in the update?

Yes. In case someone needs it, I've uploaded the radio which came with the latest OTA in this thread. The radio version that came with the 2.42.405.5 update is 26.10.51.26. This radio might be particularly interesting for European users, as the 26.13.04.19 radio was only released for North America.

anyone cares to make an updated stock rom with the zip provided by strawmetal?
at this point i dont even care if i have root so im okay with an unrooted one.

Possible root for official 2.1... (Confirmed not Working)

EDIT: It doesn't work, let's move on.
Just saw this now, apparently it works for all HTC 2.1 devices using the 'fake ota' method.
I will rewrite the guide here once someone has confirmed it works.
I can not and will not test this as I wasn't stupid enough to flash the official 2.1 RUU.

Once you get to clockwork mod recovery you should be able to flash a custom rom!

Reports on the guide website suggest that this will NOT work for HTC Hero users or in fact any phone which did not originally ship with v2.1 of Android.
I'd love someone to prove this wrong so keep trying but don't get your hopes up.

I just wan't to make it more clear to my self. If I understood you ppl right, there is no possible way to root official GSM 2.1? Or am I wrong?
And does anyone know, how fast we will get rooted GMS EU 2.1 after it is released? Fast thing to do?
Also first part of OTA (YouTube update), i hope it didn't take ability to root from me?

There is no known way, yet.
There are already rooted GSM custom rom's based upon the 2.1 releases which have happened so far. It takes dev's a few hours from release usually to get them into the public domain.

If you installed the latest ota just downgrade & root.
For rooting the europe 2.1 I aim to be as fast as last time but it depends on when it is released.

Well then IMO you have to add to your guide.
"First, you need to downgrade your ROM to 2.73.xxx.x"
Like: "Also downgrade 2.73.405.93, even if it starts with 2.73...".
Btw: If I would flash Part 2 OTA update, 2.1 andoird, would it be as easy as now, to downgrade?

Offering Money to Fix Phone 2.2

Hello,
I am willing to offer someone 20USD if they can tell me how to fix my HTC desire. I was running on a Asia ROM which was upgraded to a Euro one so i could update. Upon updating to 2.2 I have no wifi, or SD and "process system" keeps crashing
The details of the phone are:
Model A8181
OS: 2.2 (from OTA)
Baseband: 32.36.00.28U_406.00.02_2
Kernel: 2.6.29-0cb9f166
Build is 2.09.405.8
Please Help Me.
You need to flash the newest radio, should fix all your problems.
You're using a radio from eclair (2.1).
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
With the 2.2 ota, im not sure if there is a way to downgrade, as I read one of the devs accidentally upgraded to an OTA release. This is due to the bootloader being updated to one that hasnt been hacked yet.
My 2 cents is hold tight and hope one of the devs figures a way to downgrade, that way you could install a custom 2.2 which doesnt have these issues.
Good luck, sorry i couldnt be of much use :/
EDIT- i completely missed that flakz0r lol, can it still be flashed through recovery if he used a 2.2 OTA update? if so http://android.adamg.co.uk/bravo/radio/32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.zip
you still have the older 2.6.29 kernel too
flash the radio to the latest and flash one of the 101 roms people are releasing based on the new ota 2.2 as that should update your kernel

Did you download the ota update, or have you got root and installed one of roms on this forum? If it's ota I dont see how your radio can be the one you've stated. If it's a rom from the forum flash the new radio 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.zip
I dont know, but it should be possible. Also, the official OTA update comes with the new radio, so i dont understand how he was able to update the rom but not the radio. That is assuming he isnt rooted, of course.

I'll wait to flash a new radio. I'm sure it will be extracted and uploaded here soon.
I am so tempted to run the new OTA, but I would want quick access to an XTC clip to unlock my bootloader in case anything went as VZW planned.
As in VZW would rather we keep our bootloader locked.
Any one see the Red DInc II avail any more.
Looks like we got the limited edition of the RED Droid Incredible 2.
It's so funny that the Vortex is still going for $79.
That phone must be SPECIAL...
As in VZW tries to pedal cheap junk for more than it's worth.
Yeah, I am hopeful that we get a flashable zip of the radio. Don't forget to check the MD5 sum & have a good flash (when it becomes available).

JB on New Zealand HTC One X

Hi,
I bought an HTC One X from Telecom NZ earlier this week.
I checked my phones CID, and it is TELNZ001. Is this CID compatible with JB ROM's?
Nope. Sorry
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
You will have to wait for Telecom to release their branded version. They have most likely received the base from HTC and will release it when it's ready. You could of course root the phone, so once HTC release the software for unbranded versions sometime later this month, the chefs on here should have a compatible build up within hours! That's what I'm waiting for, even though my phone is unbranded, the CID is HTC_044 which is currently not compatible with the test release!
Considering there is a LIST OF CIDs in the OP of every Sense JB ROM it's not hard to work out for yourself that a branded handset isn't compatible. Seriously, why can't people just READ rather than go straight for the download links...

But I don't get why the sales guy that sold me the phone (who also bought his HTC One X from the store I got mine from) was able to root his One X, and run the CM10 daily ROM's.
Is it possible that he has an older version One X with a different CID?

No, he unlocked his bootloader, rooted his phone and flashed CM10. It's not too hard, there's good guides on the internet (Google it) and if you need any further help you can PM me if you want.
Just FYI: CM10 is NOT a Sense based JB ROM or even close. It is however a Jellybean (4.1.2) based ROM

The CID part only comes in if you want to flash a JB Sense custom ROM. This is because you need to update your HBOOT with a signed (official HTC) zip that checks for your CID, and if it is not on the list it will simply not flash. The HBOOT update is needed for compatability with the new kernel I believe

It doesn't matter what cid you have to use a custom/cm10 Rom, the reason you need a matching cid for the jb/sense roms is you need to update your hboot to run them and the hboot needs a matching cid to flash

You can flash ARHD or any other rom which is not a Jellybean based sense rom. The CID is only relevant to change the hboot in order to successfully flash a JB sense rom.
Thanks all for clarifying things for me.
Can anyone let me know when the One X on Telecom NZ upgrades to Jelly Bean?
I really don't want to reinstall to stock rom just to check whether it's upgraded then to find out it's not and have to revert back to present rom.
Or tell me a way to check, emailing Telecom seems to be of no use.
Thanks
I got a private message from member kskendsup saying that Telecom NZ has released the Jelly Bean update for the One X.
Can anyone else confirm this is true?
I have confirmed with HTC and with telecom also that 4.1.1 is indeed out..but there is some prob from their side and they are not accepting it...I am thrashing them as i write this reply...bcoz i called up HTC NZ and they took my IMEI and told me that i was scheduled for an update sometime at the starting of dec...so our CIDs are indeed JB but something wrong with telecom i guess...I have received mail from them and I will include that in my next post here..!!

Thank you for contacting Telecom.
We have released the Jelly Bean (4.1.1) Update Last week.
New software is now available for the HTC One X. The update will add Android 4.1.1.
It will provide some feature enhancements, stability to the memory, fixes to CPU hung issue, screen blinking, can't charge, power on/off, etc.
The update will be available through HTC's FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) server. As the files are generally quite large, we suggest to connect via Wi-Fi to a Broadband connection.

Yea i noticed that too. Considering most roms are nearer 600-650 mb.
Probably because it's an OTA, not a full ROM.. Just my guess anyways.
EDIT: If you have a look at the previous 2.17.401.2 OTA, this was only 148.13MB. And looking at the filename, you need to be on this version in order to update to this OTA (i.e. 2.17.401.2 to update to 3.09.401.100)

So we should lock the hboot, flash 2.17 and then this OTA(3.09)
But my hboot is now 1.23. Is it possible to return to 2.17 ?

I would not do anything, till someone with better knowledge can confirm what build this is. OTA yes. Can it be flashed Y/N Etc. I would wait.

From what I have read, and understand, no - you can't return to the 2.17 ROM's if you've updatd to the new 1.23 hboot.

yes, better to wait for someone with better knowledge of this OTA file first. I was simply giving my advice and responses based on information pertaining to previous JB / OTA updates.
