Still do not update to sense 3.0 ....

I just want someone to tear out the radio and give me a flashable zip. I'm running android 4.0 so I could care less about the rest of the update.

I'll wait to flash a new radio. I'm sure it will be extracted and uploaded here soon.

I am so tempted to run the new OTA, but I would want quick access to an XTC clip to unlock my bootloader in case anything went as VZW planned.
As in VZW would rather we keep our bootloader locked.
Any one see the Red DInc II avail any more.
Looks like we got the limited edition of the RED Droid Incredible 2.
It's so funny that the Vortex is still going for $79.
That phone must be SPECIAL...
As in VZW tries to pedal cheap junk for more than it's worth.

Yeah, I am hopeful that we get a flashable zip of the radio. Don't forget to check the MD5 sum & have a good flash (when it becomes available).

Look in the thread in the general section. Radio but no md5.

Has anyone with root tried doing the OTA?
I'm running rooted stock (RMK's rooted ROM from the previous OTA).
is anyone packaging this update as a flashable ROM?
I would if i knew how to do that magic stuff.

cwr will block the ota from installing if you try

The radio installs fine from the posted zip no problems.

I installed the radio just fine as well but I don't see a difference in signal strength. I'm running CM7 and I still see 4 signal bars.

I flashed whitehawkx deodexed rom which is probably similar to yours... only problem with his was that the browser was unusable because it doesnt scroll or zoom out smoothly.
I am thinking of wiping and flashing this rom, but am curious to know if the browser bug exists.
Thanks again!

I'll wait for the uploaded with crt since I'm out and about anyhow.

TMobile WiFi Firmware update= Lost Root
Posted in General section on this too. I called TMobile to state I wanted WiFi calling. They enabled from their servers, but since I was NOT running stock ROM to enable WiFi calling from menu settings means as they wanted me to do, they sent me an update location to grab latest Kies software, which included a detailed post on manually upgrading and havibg WiFi calling. Software installed on PC. Ran the file which recognizes phone with USB cable plugged in. States it has firmware upgrade to enable WiFi calling. Ran the upgrade and it stated Ver 11.12.16.02 was running and installing Firmware upgrade on device SGH-T989(my 10 digit telephone number in parentheses).
The good news is after phone reboots, the familiar skip or learn about TMobile WiFi calling was on my screen. The bad news is I definitely do NOT have root anymore. Settings in about phone also shows the regular update ran :
Android 2.3.6
BaseBand T989UVKL1
Kernel 2.6.35.11
Build number GINGERBREAD.UVKL1
Sounds like I have to go and re-Route my phone but I'm unclear what this will do regarding WiFi calling in general.

I'd stick with the telus rom, the difference between android 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 is almost non existent and this rom will give you no features you can use.

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues due to the poor radio soft/hardware.
But, I am afraid the responses here will most likely be negative.
1) You will hear that you posted / complained about the "bad radio" for the 1000th time redundantly.
2) You will also hear from users who are lucky enough to not have any radio issues to tell you that it is user error (ie, you are the problem not the phone. Somewhat kinder users will tell you to try different ROMs or radios as well which probably won't solve the problem right now)
3) You will also hear from some of us to call VZW and get a refurbished replacement until you get one that is problem free.
All in all, I hear you. Every time when VZW tell me to wait for the most amazing update ever in the history of mankind to resolve all these issues since 4 months ago, I start to laugh..
we are supposed to see an update this month (pure speculation). however...
4.0.4 did just hit the repo, and it includes new broadcomm drivers (https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/android-building/YoBlTfntDvo). Im sure one or all of the custom rom devs will pick this up and create/update their rom...

only google/samsung can compile radio/basebands... devs cannot update radio/basebands.
at most devs can just update their base to Android 4.0.4.
if anything, you'll have to wait for the official 4.0.4 OTA to come out for the GSM Galaxy Nexus.... download the OTA and snatch radio.img from the zip and fastboot flash it or create a flashable zip when OTA is posted.
drivers are here: http://code.google.com/android/nexus/drivers.html#maguro
edit: 4.0.4 rollout is ongoing now.
I remember something about clearing the cache for the downloads app, don't quote me on that.

People cannot compile their own radio/basebands. I have been using a Android device since its first phone, G1. I have YET to see anyone compile their own radios, these are closed source.
What JBQ was talking about was NOT radio source.
Toro source/files and propetary files = LTE Galaxy Nexus.
mysid factory images = google stock images (RADIOS will also be in this file... but not the source, only the fastboot flash file)

You didn't even state ANYTHING about radio source. Radio source is NEVER NEVER NEVER provided by Google or any manufacturers, always closed source. You were only asking for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus LTE "source" as in drivers. Which is already provided on the Galaxy Nexus (and other devices).
To the OP, yes a new radio will be provided. Someone will create a flashable zip. Alternatively, you can snatch the radio.img from the 4.0.4 zip as soon as it becomes available.

Radio standalones are never downloadable from code.google. They come packaged in the factory images. But at that point, if you just want the radio. You might as well wait for a flashable zip to appear on the dev forums or just the radio IMG itself.
You came in this thread talking about "toro" when no one even mentioned toro (Galaxy Nexus LTE) in this thread. It was strictly about radio/basebands and 4.0.4 just came out. OP may have LTE or GSM, who knows. He never specified. But everybody else in the thread assumed GSM as the GSM OTA just rolled out.

Right, that's exactly why you can DOWNLOAD THE GSM RADIOS RIGHT NOW FOR 4.04 ON THAT SITE YOU JUST POSTED. You sir, are a complete moron. I was referring to the fact that you don't have to pull the radios out of the OTA, which is unnecessary when Google is posting them up.

Yeah.. anyone who's honest with themselves and actually know about phone quality and radio signal would know that samsung makes the worst internal radios from all carriers i believe after testing. I tell verizon folsk about this signal strength and they say *o did you try to get a different phone*? well yeah but that's not the issue.. IT'S THE PHONE BUILD.. the radio isn't strong.. now unless they come out with a new baseband radio for verizon LTE that blows me away, I'll take it back and apologize for embarrassing myself but how is it that the thunderbolt and Rezound (both HTC) can hold a 4g signal in weak coverage areas and the galaxy nexus can hardly get 3g....

That's the RIL driver package. The Radio Interface Layer is what sits between the Android Telephony subsystem and the actual baseband firmware. It is not a radio firmware. At all. They REALLY have to be pulled from the OTA. Check your facts before insulting other people.

What G0belet said, this is what I've been trying to say the whole time. If you downloaded the file it is a .sh file. Not a .img file that is flashed via fastboot in the bootloader.
So yes the OP will wait until the OTA for 4.0.4 (or factory images for mysid) is actually released so people then can post the fastboot image for the radio and then make it into a flashable zip.

Thank you for confirming! And if anybody actually took the time to get that .sh file, trim the script at the beginning of the file, rename to .tar.gz, and extract the data, they'd see that it's just libsec-ril.so and a couple of other files I forgot about that bore a variation of that filename.

Potentially! Are they comparing them to the leaked 4.0.4 radios? Doubtful since they upgraded and were presumably on 4.0.2 lol.
Either way, someone needs to find the images and make a flashable zip. I need something to do at work, nah mean?
So if I am running Liquid (4.04) will all I have to do is flash the new radios once they are available?

Yes. Radios are compatible with pretty much anything. They are separate from the rom, and do not even "stick" with a nandroid.

For anyone who has received it, would you mind looking in the log files in /cache/recovery and try and find the name of the update file (ending in .zip) please and post it in this thread. Thanks.

I am biting the bullet and flashing back to stock to try and capture it.
Don't hold your breath of course. The only reason I put any merit in this is one of the radio versions is listed in AOSP.
i actually love my rooted 4.0.4 and my hybrid radio... like others id be more interested in the actual OFFICAL radio...

I (and I'm sure all of us) appreciate it. I wish there was a way to force the update, other than sacrificing chickens and whatnot.

OH he has the OTA. My bad, it's early for me . I was like WTF you can't receive an update with a custom rom.

No, you are right -- you can't receive the update with a custom ROM, but a rooted stock ROM is perfectly fine. Bootloader lock/unlock makes no difference.

Updating Radio/Modem

Hello guys, sorry if this is a noob question for you Sammy guys (I'm more used to Nexus devices), but I was wondering if it is possible to update the baseband version on this device? More specifically, I was wondering if I could update to an international radio/modem? If not, does anyone know where to find the latest radios for each device. I tried searching but only could come up with an older thread for the version I already have (MDL). On my Nexus One and HTC One S we could flash any baseband we wanted, international or carrier release. Thanks!

No.
Do not flash any radio other than the ones made for your device. At best it won't boot. At worst it won't let you Odin back to the correct radio and it will never boot.

Sucks we have to wait for T-Mobile to finally release an update. I knew I should have just went for the i9505 international variant lol. Never again buy from a carrier! Thanks tho, saved me some fun time tooling around in Odin and losing my files.

Yeah but a new modem update by itself will probably never be a super improvement. So you probably aren't missing out on much.
Its not like an updated modem will let you talk to the Moon or something.

LOL. what he's trying to do (my guess) is to use the i9505 4.3 roms. Unfortunately you will LOSE data connection (with the screen off) without the newer radios.
No option unfortunately but wait.

Spot on. Apparently, T-Mo is supposed to release their 4.3 update early to mid November (consult General Section for source). Then and only then would we be able to use a 4.3 TW ROM without cell network wonking out like a drunk. Hopefully T-Mobile could be at least 1/3rd useful this time and actually push out an update for once.. (you can feel my hatred towards carriers...... =.=).
EDIT: SOURCE THREAD, towards the last few pages starts the talk of the rumored T-Mo Nov. release.

Yes... Scheduled for 11/18. And it wouldn't be coming either if they weren't forced to by Samsung. They've got lots of watches to sell!!!

There is no M919 Tmobile 4.3 dump.
That's the problem, the only dump and the flashable zipfile rom
available as of yet is for the international versions of the S4's.
Flashing an international version of the 4.3 rom into our M919
phones even if it worked properly we would be losing wifi calling
and most like the LTE feature plus who knows what else.
You are wrong there is a t mobile4.3 dump for very long posted in general section : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2478553
Sent from my SGH-M919V using Tapatalk 4
We CAN run the TW 4.3 ROMs and have full LTE as normal (except for Wi-Fi calling b/c that's a T-Mo specific feature), the only issue is that data randomly cuts in and out. I don't understand how I could run AOSP 4.3 with no issues but 4.3 TW gives problems...
The thing is, only us T-Mo users have data issues, not the international or any other carrier. So it MUST be the radio version that is the cause of the problems, which is why we must wait for T-Mo to finally release an update...
Has anyone dare to flash international MJ5, JM6 modem? I mean our bootloader is unlock right? If it don't work can we just flash back our old modem? Just a thought.

Not a full dump. Only partial dump as the OP of that thread didn't want to root for fear of triggering Knox, and he had to return the device to tmobile.

[OTA Update] Touchwiz 4.3 T-Mobile NOW available! MJC.

So my mother's non-rooted stock UVDMD5 S3 was sitting there and mobile background said update checker used 3 kb, so I checked the update checker and a 527.00 MB file started downloading. Just a heads up, is it the new download?
Edit 1 : Confirmed, this is Android 4.3 official.

Edit 2 : @DocHoliday77 has confirmed this actual OTA is ONLY for the SGH-T999..if you don't have one (you won't get the OTA) but DO NOT FLASH OR ATTEMPT TO FLASH ANY ODIN FILES!
Edit 3 : This has KNOX. Proceed at caution.
Edit 4 : have you ever been to jail? No? Me either. But if I had to picture it this update is much like it. Still to Docs leak thread or AOSP but don't touch this with a fine toothcomb if you want to root and later downgrade.

One way to find out, I suppose. I'm not currently rooted, the phone's bone-stock. Saw the download and immediately came here to see what was going on. Under 30 megs remaining.
check samfirmware...theres an update with over 800 mb
I guess that's a confirmation. Any issues? The AT&T version was riddled with problems.
Edit- Confirmed. Kernel version 3.0.31-1962493, Produced October 31.
According to Kies the update is MJC so its probably the same or similar to leak version DOC post .

Cool! I'd say something like, "Hopefully, we'll should see a rooted version soon...", but this is XDA where it's definitely possible.
awww man!!!! and i cant play! lol!
seriously though, this is awesome! im bout to download in a min. will then upload to AFH so you guys dont have to wait on that blazing fast Hotfile!
will post more info in a few...
but yes, its the same as my leaked build, can anyone confirm if i was correct and knox is NOT included?

anyone have any issues with the update? I saw on engadget that some other carriers pulled the update due to problems
Can someone upload a rooted Odin package, please!
If possible, if not without root.
Thanks

Ok, something important to be aware of. From piecing information together from users around these and other forums, it appears just about everyone who had problems with the 4.3 update had updated via OTA. So if you choose to update this way, please let us know how things go. But if you do experience problems, DONT PANIC, Grab Your Towel, and start downloading the Odin flashable full firmware update.
This of course will include the T-Mobile kernel. I am 90% certain that the reason WiFi did not work with the leaked kernel is because we did not flash the full firmware update. I believe the WiFi modules needed to be built into the bootloader (likely the aboot partition to be exact). This is what I was attempting to confirm when I bricked my phone. So by flashing the full firmware/OTA update, you should have a fully working build, including WiFi if I am correct.
Aside from this, I would suggest reading through some of my posts in the leaked Rom threads. This is the same build that was leaked to us a week or so ago. Do let me know how things are going, I wish I could join you guys in the discovery phase of this "official" version, but I seriously doubt that other than the kernel working, and Knox likely being left out, it will be any different from what we have been using.
I do not see any reason you should not be able to root, but I will get an insecure kernel posted asap. As soon as my download finishes. In the meantime, if anyone wants the insecure kernel from the leaked build, it should be exactly the same one. Download here:
UVUEMJC_Insecure_kernel.zip
Hope everything goes well, and I am still here to help!

a root66 version will be coming soon. These have always been released within a day of us getting a new official release. Please be patient though, as I don't think mrRobinson has the S3 anymore. I will send him the download link as soon as I have it posted on my AFH account.
If he cannot get to it, i will do my best to get you guys a root66 build asap. But again, please be patient.

You know, I have to be honest....I was hoping to be wrong about the latest leak becoming our official build! Was hoping they would update one more test build first, then we would have had another kernel/modem/build......oh well! I must say that I am quite surprised they went through with our release so quickly!
Someone must be watching us......
Thanks Doc, I'm in no rush.
Thanks for all your help, great appreciated.

oh, one more thing. if updating via ota, try Voodoo OTA Roitkeeper from the store. its worked in the past to preserve root.
and can someone pull the ota before applying it, and upload it for me please?
look in /data/fota, /data/temp, /cache/fota
its there somewhere, just cant remember for certain.
