Done... but still it showing me charging... :crying:

Then there's something wrong with your USB port.

Hardware problem. Something to do with USB port not Android
You can try:
- straighten the metal part of the USB port using tooth pick or something
Or
- clean the port using alcohol (make sure the phone has battery pulled off to make sure it's not taking any power)

Totally a hardware issue.
the pins in yur usb port are being shorted.

[Q] USB connected message...over and over...

I just received my replacement phone from Sprint. I go to boot it up and see that it is saying USB connected and just saying it over and over, like I am plugging it in and unplugging it. This was pure stock. I go to put Cyanogen Mod back on it and it actually stopped it for a while, but it keeps coming back occasionally. The only way to stop it is to plug a charger up to it and then it stops.
Thanks,
Jaculop

Go back to stock and bring it back to sprint... seems as though lots of these phones have been having this same issue... make sure no apps are installed at all when you bring it to them so they can't blame it on an app...

i had this problem also, drives me crazy, The worst thing is this will eat my battery. All i can do is to hide the notification bar (possible if using adw launcher), but when i open an app, the notification bar appears again.
Done anything like back to stock ec05, repartition etc, etc. But now im on MTD and at first the problem with usb is still there, but now it is completely gone, wtf
It may be gunk in your USB port. Look inside with a magnifying glass.

i dont know, cleaned my port with thin damp cloth and push it using small stick, i even brush it using toothbrush with no result.
But recently it just go away itself
I had this problem when I first got my epic (bought it used on eBay). I tried blowing in the port and stuff. Eventually the problem went away and hasn't come back.

uh, not to scare you or anything, but you don't clean any ports on a cell phone with a damp cloth, it will do harm to it. take a toothbrush that has never been used before and gently brush the port. then blow into the port to remove debri (small particles), then try it.

I already have another phone on my service. is there a way to get to stock without using a USB cable? Like, flash to older rom, and get an OTA? can i do that without the phone on my contract?... ive been searching for answers all night... I got it un bricked so far, and im on stock EH06 right now.

interesting thing is, i found when i plug a mini-usb to micro usb converter (just the converter, not connected to anything), the notification seems stopped, but when i unplug the converter, it shows again.

seems not, i use the cable to charge my Desire HD with no problem..
I'm opening the converter apart, it is just mini-usb 2 cables soldered to the maybe VBUS and ground micro usb, so this is a charger cable, the data pin was shorted, maybe this is why the notification stopped ?

USB Host / OTG Cable DIY question

Simple question.
I've pulled off the sheath on my micro usb-b male side, and when I was doing so, I noticed that something is grounded to the side of the gold metal connector (although it didn't appear to be connected on the other side). When removing the sheath, this little black covered wire was removed.
so the question is, do I need to actually have something grounded to the usb connector itself? or was this unnecessary to begin with (since it seemed to not be connected on both sides anyway).
it'll be simple to just short pins 4 and 5 together to create the host mode cable now that I've got the sheath off, but I wanted to confirm that I haven't screwed up the cable already before I actually bother with shorting it and pluging it in.
Thoughts?
thanks!

Not familiar with USB wiring, but I do know that manufacturers of any industry cut costs wherever possible. It seems unlikely to me that they would add additional but unnecessary steps to their process. If you were me, you would biopsy another USB cable just to satisfy curiosity.

That's my thinking, too. The only other thought is that it might have been connected to the shielding wires (the cable is shielded), and may not be strictly necessary (especially since I'm not going to care about the shielding on a 3 inch adapter)
does that theory seem reasonable to anyone?

Loose mini USB port

I just noticed my mini USB port is fairly loose that when the usb cable is angled at a particular direction charging stops.
I tried the same cable at two other phones and no problem. I visually inspected the port and it seems the metal that surround and supports the mini usb broke at the side making the top and bottom part separate from each other. It makes the port not a snug fit but a losse fit... And so I wonder if anyone else had this issue? I've only had my S3 for a few months and I use it roughly the same as my old phones (yes, I do use it while charging) and they didn't have this problem... Is it really that easy to break or do I seem to be mistreating it?
Note: The small pointy thing is ok, so I can still charge and do other stuff. Only issue is that it's a loose fit.

I was just dealing with this last night. It may be a little flimsy. Hopefully it doesn't get worse
I know... If it gets worse, I hope I don't get caught somewhere having unable to flash a stock rom via odin... To claim a clean warranty... Afterall, the damage is on the hardware and can be seen outside
Is it the original cable? I know my charger cable is stupid loose but my USB cable is fine.

I'll have to check with Wireless Wave where I bought the phone... Because it's either they send it for repair which would take weeks and they'd give me a crappy temporary phone... Or if I'm lucky replace it on the spot... Which I doubt... So I'll have to weigh in the options... It's not much of an issue right now but pretty sure it will be soon enough so I have to ask them soon... I'm just doing some poking around to see if other people experience this as well if it's a fairly "common" issue then they might give me a replacement if I tell them fixing wouldn't help because it may just happen again.

[Q] Micro port on phone

I think I damaged my port on my phone that I used to charge with. My phone still charges but I have to be careful as if I move it some it stops charging. I have tried a different cable so I know it the port on my phone. Any ideas? I think maybe its a bit bent inside or something
The 3 pins by the right side of your phone. Idea?
Head down to the accessory sub forum and look for the pogo dock thread, you can easily DIY your own dock
Regarding the USB port, you can order a replacement from evilBay.

I've replaced mine but it's a delicate procedure. Don't get rough with anything. Ifixit has a tutorial. I already had the plastic tools from my old iPod video days to change battery.

Did need to replace it. The pin inside was bent a little and all it need was to be bent back. Problemed solved
Hi all, I recently had my USB port fail as well, and when cleaning it did not work, I got a new one off the internet and installed it today.
I can't post links, but I followed the ifixit guide, and also the Youtube video entitled "Galaxy Nexus Screen Repair and Charging Port Fix."
Everything seemed to go smoothly, but now the phone won't turn on, or even show anything when I plug it in. I took it all apart and did it again with the same result. I know that doesn't give you much, but any idea where I might have gone wrong, and how I might be able to fix it?
Thanks.

USB 3.0 Charging port corrupt?

Hi.. i purchased a note 3 from someone .. the original 3.0 USB cord and charger base is there but when i go to charge the phone, it doesnt take the charge until i pull upon the end of the charger where the USB meets the bottom of my phone..
it looks like something may be missing there or something isn't tight.. can you take your note 3 back cover off and let me know if yours loook like mine? I was going to purchase another 3.0 cord but i dont think it's that... the regular chargers work in my phone and that's what i've been having to use
I'd appreciate your help. some pics i just took are below

I'm having trouble with a 2.0 cable too. Maybe the stiff, heavy, white cable damages the USB port.

Funny because I just got my note 3 2 months ago I could only use 3.0 USB for the first 2 or 3 weeks until it's started charging my phone super slow or not at all... USB 2.0 works tho...

My wife and I are have the same issue. Both phone charge using usb 2.0 cords with the oem wall plug but won't charge with the oem 3.0 cords. Started a few weeks ago, up until yesterday my cord still worked on both phone but not today
.....grrrrr
The charging cables from Samsung seem to be faulty, both of my factory cables have gone bad (mine and my wife's) but my third party cable works wonderfully.
Yep, same here. It's a really strange problem. Mine stopped charging with the oem cable maybe a month after I got it (tried tightening the screws on the port, which did feel a bit loose), but still had problems with charging. The OG cable does however mount the phone on my computer for odin / file transfers so I just got a wireless charging module and charge my phone that way. Adding further to the mystery, I just ordered this micro usb 3.0 hub: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JWM7GUY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but I haven't bothered to try it out until right before posting this (I had a pack of 10 micro usb 2 port covers and I'm down to like 2 because I frequently lose them when I take them out; wish I could find one that attaches to the phone, like the one on the S5, anyone know where one could obtain such a product??) Anyways, the hub works fine, plugged my ps3 controller and a flash drive into usb ports on the hub and it worked no problem.
So, the port seems to work for anything except charging with the OG cord (just noticed that it does actually charge if I plug a power cord (not included) into that hub. The OG cord doesn't work anymore for charging, but provides a perfectly stable connection to my PC. So, in conclusion:
