Hey everyone! The one thing that's driving me crazy that I haven't figured out yet is how to disable the edge zooming in the stock browser. Had anyone figured it out yet?
Same..makes me crazy, especially with one handed browsing. I just keep trying to remind myself to push in the middle of the screen up and down.
Drives me crazy too. Help! !

Has any rom developer removed this yet?
Annoys me too. I got my note yesterday and I thought something was wrong with the note's touch sensitivity.
Just use Chrome. It's so much better and doesn't do the zoom thing.

Until Chrome can become the default embedded browser (I.e. in apps such as Pulse or Flipboard), using Chrome will only help you when browsing in Chrome and makes no difference when using an embedded browser in any other app.

Whenever I'm reading a long text in paragraph format or something on the Web, if I double tap the text it just zooms in, I remember on my old phones the text would automatically adjust in size and wrap so I wouldn't have to keep side scrolling. Any way to enable this on the note 2? Thanks

I thought that was an htc thing.

That makes sense, I did have an evo back in the day and faintly recall it doing it.

I wondered the same thing very annoying when browsing. I thought all android phones did it however ive only owned HTC phones for the past 7 years so guess its an HTC thing. Is there an app or something that will enable this feature? Sure is nice when you double tap and the web page resizes so you can read it all and dont have to squint to see the text..
Pretty sure just normal double taps and pinch to zoom are all you got on non htc phones

hmmm i'm not seeing the settings you are referring too. Is this done while in the browser?

I'm 100% sure this isn't what the OP is wanting. HTC had text reflow no matter what level of zoom you did on a webpage. Non-HTC phones don't. This setting you are referring to in browser options has never made any difference on my Nexus or my Note 2. All the sites I use already display to fit the screen. I've tested it and I can't see a site where it actually shows the intended effect. Do you have a website example?

My apologies, yes while in browser press menu then scroll down to settings. I hope this is what your looking for.

maybe theres a third party browser thatll emulate this function?
I never found a solution to this problem months ago. When I got my Galaxy Nexus after owning a hero, evo, and Evo 3D... I thought this was a huge problem but I learned to live with it and now I don't think about it

Thanks for this. This helps but as others have said with HTC devices you can zoom in at any distance and it will automatically adjust and wrap the text for you, not just one size in the auto fit.

Dolphin browser works perfect for me does the auto adjust just fine.
I have been using Chrome and it is great on the Note 2.

The thing is. ..All these browsers are fine. I personally prefer the stock browser, but none of them do what the OP asked. Because. .. as has been said, that was an htc feature.

Dolphin Browser does do what the OP asked for. That's why I replied to his post.
Respectfully disagree since I tried Dolphin mini and the regular Dolphin and neither did what he asked. Maybe I'm wrong. The op isn't looking for Auto fitting of text to the initial page. While that may be a good alternative, he wants text reflow no matter what level of zoom, continuously. That is an htc thing

That's what I thought he was asking and that's how Dolphin is working for me. Under 'settings' / 'Web Content', I have 'Auto-fit Pages' turned on and it reflows the text as I zoom in and out. I also have my 'User Agent' set to desktop but I'm not sure that matters. It works for me.
(I just tried it to make sure I'm not crazy and it works perfectly. It will reflow the text to fit my screen regardless of zoom level.)

that definitely looks right. Does that work on the normal xda site? That's what I tried and didn't work for me. That's the site I always use to test..Regular dolphin or mini?
Update: Dude I want that feature back.. I've tried your setting and every setting imaginable on all 3 Dolphin browsers.. I've tried Google...xda...mlbtraderumors.com.. nothing works for me...pm me so we don't bore everyone to death.. am I the only one that can't get this working on Dolphin?

I always scroll from the side of the screen and now with JB, it zooms. I for one pinch to zoom... I don't need it where I scroll. Does anyone know where or how to kill this?
Thanks!
John
Scroll from the middle. I'm not seeing anything in settings.

I too had this issue, thought it was a defect. Pretty annoying. Would love to disable it

I agree, Its the same on the phone and the S3. Doesn't matter the browser. Real annoying...
BUMP.
Any devs know what's up?
yes I hate the zoom function there Would be nice to disable it
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I actually like it just wish I could control it. ie make it only one side or the other not both sides. its handy for one handed operation but yes like you I scroll from the SIDE (so I can keep reading) and now I can't. Grrr
Happen to me as well.. Glad to see it happening to others.. When it happened to me I thought I was going crazy

I am having the same issue, so I downloaded the google chrome browser because I was so annoyed and getting headaches..... Also NOT HAPPY with the stock Keyboard not having the mic (voice input) button on the keyboard, you have to press three different buttons to get to it, SO ANNOYING, so I downloaded the Jellybean Keyboard from the App Store (which I do not understand why this phone didnt come with a Jelly Bean Keyboard..
Nm I lied

Any help with the above question would be appreciated.
I also have this issue a lot when browsing. Maybe it's just a sick browser issue?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Same here. I hate that slide zoom feature in the web browser but im sure its intended to work that way. I bet a dev could modify the browser apk to get rid of that.
I know if you stay away from the edges it won't do it. But it does get kinda annoying. I've read this was a change in JB due to the whole Apple lawsuit crap.

Well I don't know about you folks but I like it. Specially when using the phone single handed.

is there a way to set it to just one side instead of both?

Use Chrome. ..IMO far superior browsing experience. Side zoom isn't an issue
Sent from my SPH-L900
My S3 does the same thing and its really annoying. I would use Chrome but that permanent address bar is really annoying especially in landscape. Plus the stock browser is faster.
I always tended to scroll the page at the very edge of the phone so that finger oil doesn't gloss over the text I'm trying to read...lol
Cool feature. I didn't know you could do that as I've been using Chrome which is awesome IMO, but this feature alone may make me use the stock browser from time to time. I do wish that when companies added features like this they would provide an option for users to be able to enable/disable as not everyone is going to like it.
I'm on LK8 and it doesn't have the scroll edges in the stock browser.

I didn't think it had to do with a specific browser since it does it in all three I use.
Have any of you guys notice that the SAMSUNG on screen keyboard lags when pulling it up from a text field? After clicking on a text box it takes so long for it to pull up the keyboard.
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
I'm noticed this too, a little annoying to be honest
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
Me too. I started using SwiftKey and I think it's a little better. I recall the lag being worse while using the small sized floating keyboard. SwiftKey has that same option though, so I've been using that. Multiling O keyboard had a bunch of options as well and is free, unlike SwiftKey.
Yeah i notice it more on certain apps like chrome more than i do on other apps like tapatalk....tbh on tapatalk its rapid on mine but overall nothing too annoying for me.

This was a feature that I first experienced on my galaxy S2 with a custom stock rom. I didn't like it then and don't like it now. It's erratic (or my finger is) and I can't figure out how to disable it. Does anyone else have issues with this?
Sent from my SM-T320 using Tapatalk
No idea what Edge Zoom is.. You might try and explain that a bit more.
Sorry. With a web page open, you can touch somewhere near the edge of the screen, slide your finger up or down and the page zooms in or out. I can't get it to work consistently in one spot. It's weird because I would think that if they implemented it, they would provide an option to disable it.

Is this just on the stock Samsung browser? Sounds like it.
I haven't used the stock browser in a long time. Try "Next Browser".
