Browser zooms where I scroll - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I always scroll from the side of the screen and now with JB, it zooms. I for one pinch to zoom... I don't need it where I scroll. Does anyone know where or how to kill this?
Thanks!
John

Scroll from the middle. I'm not seeing anything in settings.

I too had this issue, thought it was a defect. Pretty annoying. Would love to disable it

I agree, Its the same on the phone and the S3. Doesn't matter the browser. Real annoying...

BUMP.
Any devs know what's up?

yes I hate the zoom function there Would be nice to disable it

I actually like it just wish I could control it. ie make it only one side or the other not both sides. its handy for one handed operation but yes like you I scroll from the SIDE (so I can keep reading) and now I can't. Grrr

Happen to me as well.. Glad to see it happening to others.. When it happened to me I thought I was going crazy

I am having the same issue, so I downloaded the google chrome browser because I was so annoyed and getting headaches..... Also NOT HAPPY with the stock Keyboard not having the mic (voice input) button on the keyboard, you have to press three different buttons to get to it, SO ANNOYING, so I downloaded the Jellybean Keyboard from the App Store (which I do not understand why this phone didnt come with a Jelly Bean Keyboard..

Nm I lied

[Q] Is there a way to disable the zoom effect whle slding up and dn the screen edges?

Any help with the above question would be appreciated.
I also have this issue a lot when browsing. Maybe it's just a sick browser issue?

Same here. I hate that slide zoom feature in the web browser but im sure its intended to work that way. I bet a dev could modify the browser apk to get rid of that.
I know if you stay away from the edges it won't do it. But it does get kinda annoying. I've read this was a change in JB due to the whole Apple lawsuit crap.

Well I don't know about you folks but I like it. Specially when using the phone single handed.

is there a way to set it to just one side instead of both?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Use Chrome. ..IMO far superior browsing experience. Side zoom isn't an issue
Sent from my SPH-L900
My S3 does the same thing and its really annoying. I would use Chrome but that permanent address bar is really annoying especially in landscape. Plus the stock browser is faster.
I always tended to scroll the page at the very edge of the phone so that finger oil doesn't gloss over the text I'm trying to read...lol
Cool feature. I didn't know you could do that as I've been using Chrome which is awesome IMO, but this feature alone may make me use the stock browser from time to time. I do wish that when companies added features like this they would provide an option for users to be able to enable/disable as not everyone is going to like it.
I'm on LK8 and it doesn't have the scroll edges in the stock browser.

Good to know. I'll try to extract the LK8 browser.Apk

I didn't think it had to do with a specific browser since it does it in all three I use.

swift key flow

it can be found here peeps

It is gorgeous. I'm having a lot of fun with it!

i love using it now, soo addicting swiping with a finger and being able to go to the spacebar
Thank this dude for posting this I never would've liked for that link if it wasn't posted this keyboard is awesome

Amazing. Can't wait for the official release, bug free with hopefully some sort of swipe to delete (swipe the backspace button?).
I use SwiftKey 3 before this and the swipe left for a word delete was amazing.
Am I the only person that thinks it's horrible? I use SwiftKey and love it but flow just isn't there yet. It only types what I want half the time and I'm constantly going back and fixing errors. I'm much faster and accurate with the normal SwiftKey.

Well it is in beta. I wrote this sentence with it. just takes some getting used to.

I find that the case with most of the "flow" type keyboards. For some reason, tapping just works better for me. The idea of having to type only one key at a time (as opposed to using 2 fingers/thumbs) is beyond me and slows me down!

I'm using this keyboard cuz for me it's like a free version of SwiftKey with that amazing prediction. The swiping works best on the words you get lazy on or you know are easy to swipe. I'd drive myself crazy if I tried swiping a whole paragraph. This keyboard is really accurate tho and the feature in the settings that shows where you press the keys is cool and it imports ur words from other sources so it knows you well right off the bat and with the cool default themes this keyboard is a keeper
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
As far as these trace type keyboards go, I prefer Swype. Although I understand this is still in beta. But I stay with the normal SwiftKey because I end up spending more time going back and correcting errors than it saves me.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
I didn't get into swype type keyboards until I tried the 4.2 nexus keyboard. I thought it was decent but without the auto correcting and spacing of swiftkey, I went back to it.
Same thing with the OG stock keyboard. I absolutely love this though. I keep swiftkey but I've been messing with flow more and more.
It's a beta so it has it's glitches (swyping 5 words then it goes blank once I move on to the 6th one) but when usually it works great.
I've typed out long text messages faster than I ever imagined with it. I'll be getting the official apk once it's released.

Best Messaging App

So the biggest thing I'd like in a messaging app is a back button on the top left corner. I know it's an iphone thing but I'm really used to it. I was wondering if anyone knew of anything like this? Go SMS has been good but that's the only feature I miss.

I find that the hardware back button is easier to reach.

I haven't needed to use it on this phone or my last, but you might try handcent and see if that has the functionality you're looking for.

There's more to it than that though. The back button takes you back to the last thing you were on (or at least it is suppose to) while the top left button takes you back to the first page of the app. This is a useful feature because i often press home right after finishing a text then when I reopen the app to text someone else, it takes me back to the last person I texted. Then I have to close the app and open it again.
I think the Jellybean messaging app has this.
That is exactly correct! Thanks. I found it. However, the last update broke MMS..

I'm not rooted yet. But I am using apex launcher. Neither hand cent nor the jelly bean app show up in my notification bar
Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk 2
Did you look through the settings? Sometimes you have to activate it. Also deactivate the notification of the stock app.
Yeah i did. Go sms works for m

Didn't want to repost. So I'll bump this and ask.
What's the best Messaging app you're using? I'm using handcent, but I want that's fast and fluid as well (sorta like the iphone messaging app.. the only thing it does right haha)
I'm not a fan of the animations on the Stock app or Handcent. I did like 4.1 Messaging app but the MMS bug was too much
Try GO SMS PRO. Once you have it installed, go into settings>basic>running mode>lite
Also, with Go SMS Pro, you can send group text (like iPhone does it). Only thing I hate is that when getting group texts, phone becomes very slow to a frustrating point if multiple people from group text is replying at once.
Go SMS was very bloaty for me. But I'll try that. Thanks!

Having some problem with s-pen and screen capture tracing...

Hi,
Have noticed when trying to trace an image with my s-pen on the screen with the button pushed that sometimes it just doesn't seem to "take" and capture the image even though I have traced all the way around to the little beginning circle. This seems to happen mostly if I am tracing a smaller image.
Am I doing something wrong or is this just a bug? If it is a bug is there a way to fix it?
SECONDARY QUESTION:
It seems the only way to crop out a square image is to do a screen capture by pushing down the s-pen button and pressing it to the screen then using the crop tool. However, it would be nice to be able to actually draw a perfect crop square in the same way we do a trace capture. Is there any combination of buttons that does that?
I have noticed on my Note 10.1 tablet that I can trace an image in one multiview screen then just drag the into s-notes in the other pane and it pastes. However, with the GN2 this "drag and drop" doesn't seem to work. Am I doing something wrong?
Last thing. Have noticed that on my Note 10.1 I can do a screen capture of the active multiview pane; however, with the GN2 it seems to capture both multiview panes then squishes the entire capture into one pane. Again, am I doing this wrong or is that a bug?
Thanks!
for perfect squares, well and now everything I have been lasso'ing a larger area and then using the photo editor app to crop them down ...for the reason that I noticed the longer I take to get a clean lasso the less chance I have of it working.
Interesting find on the screenshot deal. If I take a screen shot by hand swipe it is normal. Taking it with the pen results in squished screen.
As for the drag and drop I swear it worked out of the box...then the ljc update changed it but I could be wrong. I just know it does not work that way anymore. Similarly I recal draggingbthe lasso'd image to say messaging in the icons at bottom of screen ...now after the update I just hit messaging

I guess the point is that there are a number of things which work as they should on the Note 10.1 that don't seem to work that way on the GN2. It's not a screen real estate issue so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Just seems kind of buggy to me, especially the tracing part.
My Note 10.1 came with a specially designed version of photoshop but I'm not seeing that on my GN2. Am I missing it? I guess I just expected these to be close to the same except smaller. Maybe not.
For instance on the Note 10.1 in multiview each pane gets its own Min, Max and Close buttons but not here. Odd.

I know about those who but they aren't the same. On the Note 10.1 each frame has its own buttons which remain persistent. Like in Windows. Much better.

I find it works best to hold the button, draw your shape/circle then lift the pen with the button still held... works every time.

Homemade swype keyboard

Hypothetically speaking, if one found a keyboard they liked but the only thing missing was swype, could a developer rebuild the app to include it? I'm really liking A.I.type keyboard but no swype capability is a bummer. Just curious.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Anything is possible, though I would think that's too much work to reverse engineer something that's already available on the play store and fits 99% of people's needs.
As it turns out, while using the keyboard the app prompted me to leave feedback and of course I told them it was awesome but would love to see swype integrated and they actually emailed me last night and told me they were currently working on putting it in.

I really like the stock keyboard but I like the layout options they have on theirs. I can put up the "period" key, "comma" key, smiley face, mic key, and numbers keys all at the same time without needing any of them to be long press keys. You can also adjust the keyboard height from the keyboard itself without going into settings. It seems to be a lot more convenient to use the keyboard this way.
