Hi guys,
I know this question is not related to our note 2. If anyone knows alot about computers can help me out with this. The other day, our power went out. I think the power supply in my hp desktop computer went out also. I couldn't turn it back on. The green light on the power supply keeps on flashing. I Google on that problem but still can't get it it fixed. Anyone know where I can get the power supply replacement? I currently have Bestec ATX-250-12Z Rev D7R Power Supply. I found a few websites that have them for sale but I don't want to pay too much for it. Looking for something around $30 or less. Not planning to keep this computer for long. I don't know much about computers. It doesn't have to be that same brand. Thanks in advance
I bet you can find some cheap no name one from a local mom/pop computer store cheap enough.
I know that when I worked at Frys they had power supplies that work for HP desktops for good price. You can call any Frys to find out which power supply to get. Then go to their website or to Amazon and order it.
When replacing just what you take out you put back in.
Also make sure the fans, including the cpu fan are working and get all dust and dirt out of the computer.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'll see if I can call Frys to see if they can help me to find a right power supply.

Just a heads up, when a power supply goes out, it sometimes takes the motherboard with it. If it doesn't power up with new power supply, that's probably what happened.

Some HP desktops take a smaller size ATX power supplies. Which is why I told the user to get hold of someone to find out which size ATX power supply their HP model uses. They used standard full ATX, Micro ATX, and Flex ATX power supplies.
Which that is a good question. What is the HP model number of the HP desktop in question?
Ok first tried to open your computer and disconect the power supply from the wall ones you do that disconect the power supply from the motherboard wait at least 5 minutes and conect it back and tried if it work see if the fans from the power supply turn on if it doesn't your power suplied is damage second. When the new one arrive tried it and if it doesn't work. Press the power button for 30 seconds if you hear a beep three times that means that your mother board is good so what is wrong is your procesor or the memory you can call hp and they will guide you on how to diagnosed the main proble and they can also fix it for you it's all depends if your computer still in warranty. I can tell you that because im a computer technician I hope this will help you

Hi all,
Just wondering anybody could recommend a "AA Battery Powered" External USB power supply for UNI?
I seen some people use a mint box and 4 AA batteries to make a USB power supply, but I figured I might just buy a existing product.
Or does anyone has better solutions for power supply when you are away from computer or a A/C wall?
Thanks!!!
I just buyed this one and works great!

You can have 2 normal battteries, one on charge
Hey Orb,
I have one of those and I centainly like the colorful flashing when it charges
However, I think u misunderstood what I meant, I was look for a changer that takes AA batteries, then convert the AA battery power into USB current to charge the phone.
something like this: http://www.boxwave.com/products/batteryadapter/
But again thanks for reply
oops, my mistake
Hope you found what you are looking for!

I seen this Mint Box project, it's DIY, you only buy the parts....not sure about, I'm more leaning towards something a little more pro made i guess. plus the price is not a huge gap
Yeah but it looks fun

I've got an energiser one I bought for a few quid. Takes 2 AA batteries and then has an adaptor that plugs in to convert to mini-usb.
Unfortunately shop brought, but I certainly wouldn't spend mega bucks on something similar!
So my local micro center store have the Acer A100 refurbished for 199.99 I got to score a clearance one for 160$(180$) with taxes. I bought it cuz I want to use it as my music/video player in my car only problem battery doesn't seem to last more than 4 hours :/ and it can't be charge with the USB cable . I'm thinking if I should return it for the galaxy tablet 2 7inch which is 249.99 or get the the A200 which is 279.99$ . Any recommendations guys also does any of you know of a good car stands??I have seen some on eBay for about 60$ seems to be too much for a bracket .
Wow!
I would like to say that I am on a similar path right now with the choice between what to do with me money and tablet. I got one for 199.99 here in Chicago, I was strongly debating which one I wanted to go with. My reasons are similar yo yours aswell and I am also wondering about the Car docks or stands. As far as specs go with one already running ICS which was a big draw for me. The only thing that differs from me and you is I want to use the tab for signing contracts from photography work. I am hoping that the S-pen will work with either of them. Or ill have to bite the bullet and go with a HTC View/Flyer for the pen support. I personally would exchange the unit seeing as how you are getting 4 hours of usage out of it and then wait for the ICS on the 27th and make a decision from there. If you have and suggestions on a tablet under 300 that will allow for signing with a stylus(spen/fujitsu?/N-trig) please throw the name out there
Maybe this will help
I was also unhappy with having only 3-4 hours of battery life but I followed another board's explanation on how to make/use battery power packs. I now get about 12-20 hours of normal usage with my setup which is a 4800 ah 12v Li-on battery + an Acer a100 adapter wire and plug. The whole deal only cost about $28.
Now I love my little tablet!!

In my opinion if you're gonna be using it mostly for signing I hear lots of good stuff about the HTC flyer or View. It's still running HC and will probably will never see ICS but you cant beat the stylus and screen. They work well together. Also that can be charged via micro usb. Longer battery. The single core is powerful enough for what you'll be doing with it.
The sammy is good too but too much proprietary connectors going on with it. But at 249 you get the latest stuff. It's probably a good idea to check out one for yourself. Unless someone can chime in. I've never seen or played with it myself.
As far as Acer goes, it does sometimes suffer from touch screen losing touch with either finger or capacitive stylus if its just sitting on a table. But there is a fix for it in HC but I'm sure youre gonna want to upgrade to ICS eventually when it comes out. For the most part ICS eliminates the issue but I still can see it from time to time. To eliminate the issue completely you have to hold the tablet with 1 hand so its grounded while you touch the screen with your other finger or stylus. Also when its plugged into the charger it doesnt have the issue.

Happy to .It is post #22 by st23r on the Forum "External battery for A100".
He cut the cord but it is not necessary if you purchase the following on Ebay under "Car DC Adapter For ACER ICONIA TAB A100 Tablet PC Auto Power Supply Cord PSU P/S"
Make sure you ask for the extension cord ONLY. It will be $4.99
Get a Li-On battery here: Ebay "Power Pack 12V Li-On battery 4800 ah"
It will cost $23.74 delivered (USA). Both parts fit together without adapters or cord cutting.
Hope it works as well for you as me.

Thank you. I saw that post but was confused about the cutting cord part.
In the first eBay item, I don't see an option to get just the extension cord -- do you need to specifically ask the seller for it?
A100 extension cord
Yes, you need to contact the seller. The one I used was 'utopiadreamglobal' but I'm pretty sure any of them would do it.

I returned the Acer tab. I shouldn't have to go through the rings to get good tablet life for a refurbished device and that extra 28 dollars almost put me in the same range as the Samsung device. I am somewhat happy with the SGT2 with the exclusion of root and crappy tablet touch wiz like deal going on. I got 16 hours of use the first day with it being out of the box no charge. I love the HTC flyer/view but here in Chicago those things cost the same as a new SGT2. I guess ill hit the CL for other states close by and see what I can find.
Battery life shouldn't matter if you get the car adapter and just use it in the car.

I recently purchased a lapdock 100 with the intention of using it as a monitor. I bought the female micro hdmi to hdmi adapter and the female to female hdmi adapter. From what I understand after this it should be plug and play, but it's not getting detected by any devices. Any help? Did I overlook a power button or something?
I believe there's some power logic inside the Lapdock that might be getting in the way. I'm not sure what you're trying to hook it up to, but this article on hooking a Raspberry Pi to a Lapdock 100 might help: http://rpidock.blogspot.com/2012/05/raspberry-pi-and-motorola-lapdock.html

I got some more symptoms of my issue. I plugged it into my hdmi port on my desktop (Before I used my tablet and it didn't detect it) and my computer detects it, it's just the lapdock that doesn't want to turn on. However, occasionally I might see a red flash on the led, when this happens and I press the button, the display turns on! Unfortunately it only lasts for about 10 seconds before shutting off again, and from there I have to wait until the led decides to flash red once again to get 10 seconds more of screentime.
I decided to try something else. I got my micro hdmi female to micro hdmi male cable in the mail today. When I plug my phone into the usb port, the laptop automatically turns on. Unfortunately the display turns off still after about 10 seconds. If I close the lapdock and reopen it the screen will come on once again. So now I can actually decide when I can turn it on, but it's useless due to how long it lasts.
Do you think I just happened to get a bad laptop? I ordered it online at AT&T, I'm not sure if they even have an extra to replace for me, and I don't think Motorola does either.

The prevailing conclusion seems to be that Motorola has included some authentication logic in the newer Lapdocks to prevent exactly this. The old Atrix Lapdocks seem to work just fine as dumb HDMI displays, though. Rather a **** move from them, seeing as how they discontinued the program and my expensive Lapdock is currently a paperweight.
Try this one. Might answer your question http://www.robpol86.com/index.php/Atrix_Lapdock_Other_Uses

Seems like you're right. Since I missed my AT&T return window by one day I had to send it to Motorola because I thought there was an issue with it. Well I finally got it back today and it's the same lapdock, apparently nothing was wrong with it. Seems like I wasted $50
I got it working!
Looks like you need the usb part connected too. I had a female micro usb to male usb plugged into my phone from the start of all this but it didn't work, but I decided to spend $2 on a micro usb to usb converter and plugged it into my computer. The trackpad and keyboard works on my computer and the screen doesn't shut off after a couple of seconds!
Here's what I ordered (Mine came with a chunk of the plastic melted and scratched, so I'd recommend avoiding the retailer "likeelectronic Ship FM Hongkong")

My G2 didn't charge last night. I tried multiple chargers, batteries, wall sockets, and even a USB connection to my laptop. The cables fit snugly into the micro USB port on the unit. When I plug it, nothing happens. no charging indicator. T-Mobile tech support told me to buy a new phone.
Is there anything else I can try?
UPDATE: Tried a master reset but no change. Is it a hardware issue with the port?
Broken micro usb port
That's my fear. Time to figure out a replacement.

Yes, you can try to repair the phone replacing charging controller. At official HTC Service repair cost will probably be equal to buying mainboard from ebay or aliexpress.com - around $80-95. Individual (non-certified) service men will do that for $25-30, but risk of killing the phone in this case is pretty high. But in the situation described above there's nothing to loose.
Another solution: in case your phone is working well with pre-charged battery you can buy one masterpiece by chineese manufacturers - universal charger or charger like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BMHD6LA/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Try with another battery (pre-charged). If the phone boots up normally and works well - see my previous post.
Its most likely a 3 dollar USB port that probably needs replacing, have a look in there and see if there is any visible damage as in broken away contacts.
If you want to replace it yourself its not terrible to do if your OK at soldering, had to do this to a few phones and only once did I fail, but then I don't consider my self an expert at fine soldering.

Theres some discussions about the shield tv power connector in these two threads that might hold some information that might help you in your search
But if im not mistaken, i think the power connector on the back of the shield is a micro usb, the same type that are used in many phones, so if you have a phone charger, you MIGHT, i stress might be able to power it up using this method, but i would double check this first, read up on it, disconnect the plug and test to see if the phone charger even fits first, assuming you have one........if they are indeed compatible, might want to check what amps/power supply the shield needs (think its mentioned on one of the threads up there) and try to get that one, maybe avoid future issues
