had the same problem with File Manager (CM File Manager). it was not prompting for root access, said it could not get root permission so would switch to safe mode, then crashes.
wiping superuser cache did not change anything.
the procedure from this post worked for me, but even though it runs now, it does not allow the root access mode to be checked in settings.
i have been using Ghost Commander since GB, and it has root access no problems

Please help me my phone superuser dose not giving root access while I am checking su binary it says su binary version null when I was trying to update it then it says update failed

Flash another rooting zip. Search for Universal Root. Or root using the Update.zip provided in the sticky. But unroot first.
Try this - root via cwm http://db.tt/I8oMJQRA
For unrooting - http://db.tt/UWiLeTen

Reflash your ROM.
this method works on me..
Unroot > turn phone on, wait till boot complete > reboot to recovery (stock) > root again
Mine did that not long ago. I downloaded SuperSU from the Play Store and used that for while

this worked for me.. install superuser app from google play, now open supersu app, it will ask for root access again ,grant root access and your binaries will be updated and it will work. after that uninstall superuser.
Now its working thanks

use superoneclick, btw, cm10 comes pre-rooted I guess?! maybe theres something corrupt..
you should have installed CWM after you rooted already.

i got same problem.. did you solved it?
It should be already rooted... BTW!?
Ηι, someone was able to do it and how?
I have the same problem, actually this is the 2nd time.
I installed clockwork recovery, flashed cm9, it wasn't rooted.. Tinkered around and it worked. I remember it being fairly simple and therefore I took little notice of what I did.
After screwing my phone up I flashed again.. Now no su access, no root access.. And i cant seem to surpass it. Clockwork works fine, and superoneclick does not
Flashed rom and su patch from maclaw..
If anyone could shed light id be very grateful.

If I remember correctly, cm9 had an option to enable disable root access for apps and adb. Have you checked if you have the right options enabled in the settings ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yeah, I've tried root apps only and root apps + adb
Also tried disabling root and applying su patch.. Nothing! It sucks cos I hate bloatware. Cm10 was rooted using the dev options in settings, but the rom was too unstable for me

Try following these steps. Might work
1. Flash Stock ROM back.
2. Root the phone.
3. Install Clockwork MOD
4. Then install CM9 RC2 by maclaw
5. After that, install the patch through CWM
These steps worked for me.
It worked for me! Yaay su permission has never felt better
Thank you!

I'm on a stock T999 which was rooted, stock, but now not bc I accepted the 4.1.1 OTA and lost root. OK I have a Mac and Heimdall doesn't work on SIII and the script method doesn't work on Jellybean so I'm going to install Windows and use Odin as soon as I can get my install discs. The weird thing is that now I get the "insufficient storage" message but just on certain large game apps. I don't know if it could be bc I removed adds via Luckypatcher and can't remove odexed App ghosts via root explorer now that I'm not root or what. The odd thing is these were games I paid for and tried to redownload, that crashed after losing root . Sorry for the long explanation I'm just trying to get a handle on what is exactly occurring here.I searched and only found threads re that error that occurred consistently. Also getting a "this device has been modified" prompt when checking for updates which is odd bc it's not rooted, but when it was this gave me an OTA? I'd love to hear if anyone has any Mac root methods I'm not aware of as well.

I was having non stop problems with my Playstore so decidedto go and disable it, now Ive completely lost it and cannot seem to find i. How do I get it back
Sent from my GT-N7105T using xda premium
Settings -> Application manager -> All under that search for playstore. If it is not present there, check for it in /system/app directory using Root explorer or any file manager

i attempted to root my gs3 4 times using the method on xda, superuser icon displays but force closes incessantly and root checker confirms i wasnt successful, it must be the kitkat update because im following the instructions to the letter, any ideas on a working root method for kitkat ?

You are on the right track. Once you root supersu icon should appear (if using cfsu). Then go to your app drawer and drag supersu to top corner to disable. Open any file explorer app and goto /system/data/apps and find superuser.apk and double click. Install. Open supersu and install binary. Reboot and you are golden, should be rooted.
