[Q] Can T-mobile find my phone? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Ok so i ordered the S3 on the 16th when they had that deal. When i got the email that it had shipped I saw that they had shipped it to another address that was not mine so I immediately called and they said they were going to fix it. So i have been checking the status and today it changed to delivered. I called right away again and they said they were going to file something and it would take 3 days. Well obviously whoever they delivered it to is not going to say oh yeah here take it back. They said they would be able to locate it as soon as whoever had it tried to use it and they would locate it and get it to me. I have been charged 370 for it on my bill and have not got the phone. Can they really locate it as soon as they turn it on and get it back to me or what do you guys think?

Sure they can, but it's an odd resolution. They really need to put a NEW phone in the pipeline for you...that's what you paid for. Lastly, how did the address get screwed up? Old Address? They usually verify shipping address before shipping it out...

Yes it was an old address...like a year ago and even my acvount had the right address and we confirmed my address when I ordered it. And theybsaid they can not do anything until the 3 days. So the peopke that got that phone just got a free s3 lol...I wonder if tmobile blacklists them so they dont try and use it

Yep..they verify the shipper dropped, and either accept it lost or try a claim, but regardless they owe you a new phone. They WILL blacklist any unrecoverable phone. Keep calling/escalating until you get a new delivery date.

When you call and the operator asks the reason you are calling say CANCEL. That will transfer you to retention dept. Talk to them and I'm sure you can get something settled ASAP.

Yeah thats what I did all day and theyb just kept sayingn they an investigation and would have to wait a few days...anyways I went to the address and luckily it was an old couple and after showing them my id they gave me my package!!!! I was in shock....I called tmobile but they were closed so I will call tomorrow...what should I tell them since they already initiated a report??
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

Just call and say you got your package. Say your old neighbor picked it up and recognized your name and contacted you. Go from there.

I wouldnt say that the old neighbor picked it up because by law they can't give your package to the neighbor especially when it needs a signature (I made up the by law part but I wouldn't be the only one to say that I wouldn't be exactly pleased if my package was given to a neighbor) . I'd just tell them the truth. No harm will be done since they'll be able to verify that you have the phone anyway.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

I agree, just tell the truth, it's not like it matters to them.
Although I've had PLENTY of packages given to my neighbours, it's ridiculous. I send important packages to my friends in the city now, because at least they seem to realise that looking at house numbers is important there instead of trusting Nice Country People or whatever.

Hopefully whoever gets your phone doesn't try to sell it to someone on CL or something.

Likewise in Houston. Sorry but I just cannot see T-Mobile doing this. The reality is they still will end up getting money from whoever uses it. (Although I don't see that as the reason though.)

They actually do block IMEI from network. Usually when warranty phones are reported "never delivered" insurance is starting to but not everywhere just yet. Cutting down on fraud

Aside from this being posted in the wrong location...
I bought a "New Galaxy S 4G" on ebay. It turned out to be one that TMO considered stolen.. The story was that a person in Memphis got the subsidized phone on a new contract, and never paid a dime. They blocked the IMEI, never to be used again. Meanwhile the person sold it to a pawn shop, who ebayed it.
In talking with TMO, trying to get the damned thing activated, they say it is their corp policy to forever ban the phone. I do not think this is market or location specific, from the way it was described to me.
this is only for phones that were purchased through a subsidized plan and were defaulted on.
your phone shouldn't be bricked, the sim should be locked out, maybe you need to get into download mode and reflash w.e. rom you had on there, it's weird that they can even wipe your phone or lock it remotely.
i believe the deal with asurion is that you have to tell them you found it, than they will send you materials to send back your phone. i once had a similar situation with my mytouch 4g, but they told me they will send materials to ship back, but they never sent materials, i even double and triple checked to make sure they don't try to pretend that i'm holding out on them, they said they resent the materials. still didn't get anything and they havn't asked for their phone back... so... idk. maybe it might happen to you. just tell them to send you materials to ship the phone back
Happen to me also, lost my vibrant, got a new one, found the old one, and it was still working.

its not new if its "blacklisted" its call buying it used, you would not have this problem if you bought it new.
either way eventually tmobile gonna track you down. keep us updated if it work
i also was scamed i bought a amaze from Clist called Tmobile with imei # and thy said it was good.i used the phone for 3 weeks, then i droped it broke the screen and call insurance to get it replaced thy said the phone was reported lost and will not replace the phone. the insurance company had the phone black listed but tmobile did not.
so now im stuck with a amaze with cracked screen that still works on tmobile but is black listed with insurance.
moral of the story is you have to call tmobile and asurion with the imei # before you buy a phone from someone other then Tmobile
Return it and get your money back. You have been scammed.
It seems that this kind of thing is happening more often since T-mobile started blacklisting phones that are reported list or stolen. Also they are blacklisting phones that have been purchased on a payment plan and the owner terminated the contract and never paid for the phone or the ETF.
Good luck

I personally stopped trading/selling phones on cl because there are just too many kids and immature people to deal with. plus now with all this there is no guarantee that you are getting a quality product. Just contact the person and demand your money back. Tell them you'll take them to small claims court. You have evidence from Tmobile and Ashton that the phones were reported lost/stolen. And you were not aware of that at the point of sale.

One way to protect yourself is checking the database at http://www.checkmend.com/us
Ask the seller the phone IMEI before buying. If the phone is not legit you will never hear from the seller.
Which phones are these ???

Sucks that it's pretty much not remotely safe to buy phones from craigslist anymore. I have been doing it for years and always got the latest and greatest cause some idiot had not idea how much their phone was really worth. But with all this blacklisting now at tmobile, i think i am done with that practice .
Sell them to me ???

My phone got stolen.

Hello, today my baby just got stolen by a bunch of ********! somehow after an hour in gym at school, i look and my phone isn't there. I called it and it sounded like a jerk *****. Anyway, i tried to install Plan B but looks like he shutdown the phone or that my stupid gps isnt locking like it always does because of ICS! is there any chance i can track it? I'm a prepaid consumer so insurance is impossible.
You should call the cops and tell them its an iPhone 5 prototype and I'm sure they would get a swat team involved like they did last time.
If Gps isn't working it looks like you might be out of luck bro.

What if they know the buttons to hard reset the phone? I mean its not really that hard but the only thing you can do now is call tmo and let them know what's up. Get a police report and file an insurance claim through ASSurion. Assuming you have insurance.

98% of people who own a smartphone are complete buffoons and really don't deserve to have them. The only reason the average Joe gets an expensive piece of hardware is to have bragging rights. Most iPhone users don't know what a jailbreak is nor do android users know what a root is.

[Q] MY Samsung Galaxy 3S stolen,HELP?

Greeting
I have a Samsung Galaxy 3S, stolen from me , from about 3 weeks ago or more,
Unfortunately, I did not activate tracking process on my account in Galaxy site!
But I have a serial number to my Samsung Galaxy !!!!
Is it possible to track mobile by serial number???,
If possible Can anyone help me to tracking my Mobile by serial number?,
Or tell me how can i do??
Please help me,
Thank you very much.
No it is not possible to find a a phone using serial, if you got it from your carrier then the best thing you can do is notify your carrier and and tell them you lost it, they may tag it in the system so it is not used on their network...
Pretty sure there's nothing you can do. If you already reported stolen it can no longer be used on at&t. Sorry man...sucks.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
If you happened to have made an imei backup you might be able to get your imei number from it. If the phone is ever turned on and logs onto a network then the carrier may be able to trace it.
If you have renters insurance (usually no deductible) you should be able to file a claim.
Homeowners same thing but u would have to pay..
Last I checked att doesn't care about stolen phones though.. They won't block the imei...

Thank you for your help.
3 weeks is too long to do anything else. Had it just happened I would recommend going to "play" on google.com and installing "Android Lost" to the phone remotely. Then you could take pictures from the camera and see what the bastard looks like. You could then turn on the GPS and find out where he is. Then you go to you local walmart and purchase a nail puller from the hardware section........well you know the rest.
Whats the galaxy 3s ?

It's between the galaxy 3 and 4; then comes the 4s.......LOL nice catch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
You could remotely install the app called Plan B if they haven't wiped your phone yet... it's from the makers of the security app Lookout.
Carrier can only block, they will never tell you if they find it because of liability issues (so you don't go to someone's home and shoot them for the stolen phone and the carrier gets sued and you find out the poor guy paid for the phone on Craigslist from someone else who stole it, etc etc)
You can file a police report and tell the carrier to notify the cops but cops won't care much because they probably have better things (things with higher priority) to worry about.

[Q] HOW TO Purchase 3rd party phone properly

So I might be purchasing a new phone through Craigslist, the guy doesn't have a receipt but claims to work for T-Mobile, and has the phone bought out right paid in full... If I just go to a T-Mobile and have them check the IMEI and the dudes plan, they can pull a receipt for him and me showing that it is paid up correct? Also, how can I go about preventing him from calling it in stolen or lost, and then me having a IMEI corrupted phone? Any word of advice fellas?
He will have to be present to give them permission to access his account. Then he will have to ask for the specific info and let you view it with him.
Then ask a store employee, not him, to remove the s3 from his account and make note of it in yours.
Make sure you view either an e-receipt, or his last two phone bills. Check if he's paying on an eip.
This is just what common sense would tell me to do. Not sure if there's an actual transfer of ownership they can do or what. But I would have to be highly satisfied with the info before handing over my cash!
Its a little extreme, but you could have a bill of sale written up, kinda like when you buy a car from an individual.
Just be comfortable with the situation and seller. It doesn't matter what steps you take, if he does something to get it blacklisted, you'll have no recourse w tmobile I don't think.

I'm in az and I personally carry so not too worried. Most wouldn't do a thing if the situation arises to it, all sneaky crack heads lol.
People are super sketch though,I had a conversation yesterday with the person not wanting to meet up at a T-Mobile and wanting my address to come buy my phone lol, they refused the idea of meeting public haha. Ya I resorted to just wanting to buy it at a store instead now. Still wanna sell the s3 though.
