I just bought a bricked xoom, it wont boot at all. Pwr/vol up dont work etc but it charges.
What I am looking for if someone can direct me to a thread or link to tell the differences by looking at it(markings etc) so I can d-load the correct image file.
I already own a wifi/4g xoom and it has verizon on the front and back
This one I just got thats bricked has NO verizon markings on it but it has a sim card slot alongside the SD card slot
Thanks in advance

It's hard to tell. It looks like their may be contacts in there, if they are the small ball kind.
Check the FCC ID on the back. My wingray is IHDT56MT1. Quick Google search says:
Verizon Xoom (assuming stingray)- IHDP56LU1
Wifi Only wingray- IHDT56MT1
I have no idea how many other versions there are, besides the everest.

IHDT56MT1 is the bricked one in question
IHDP56LU1 is whats on my 4g xoom

Here is the easiest way to determine which xoom
1. MZ604, Wifi only - Titanium Gray on back (gunmetal)
2. MZ601, 3G and Wifi - Silver on back (silver like ipad1)
3. MZ600/602, 4G Verizon - Black on back

I can also confirm this method as well comparing the two I have,
Thank you all again. Now off to see what I can do with this thing lol
You will need to make/obtain a Motorola factory cable. The difference is there is power going to the 5th pin of the USB cable. This should force the Xoom to power on and allow you to flash factory images via fastboot.
There are threads here on xda which explain the process, and I had posted pictures of the cable I made in one of the threads. Google Motorola xoom factory cable xda. Good luck

i was trying to change my vibrating settings on go sms so it doesnt vibrate during calls(because thats annoying)

i thought it was just a reset but it does not turn on at all
took batteries out, took sim/ memory card out too, still nothing
plugged wire in, doesnt turn on at all, as if it has no life.
current rom is bomb and bullet kernel
any ideas on how to get it up and working..?

Were you on DaBomb or Bombaridie?r
Definitely sounds dead to me. If you can't get the device turned on, you can't get into recovery or download mode which means you really can't do anything.
I'd start by calling T-Mobile, tell them what happened and see if you can get it replaced under warranty. If it's as dead as you say it is, they probably won't be able to get far enough in to it to find that its been rooted etc...
Good luck
Tell me if you can download mode or recovery. If you cant go to download mode try this way.
1. Pull out battery along with sim card and sd card
2. Hold Up+Down volume buttons
3. Plug in the usb to connect to your pc
4. Put in your battery should work

Does anyone know if the USB JIG actually works for resetting the flash counter? I've ordered mine but haven't got it yet.
My girlfriend has a jig at her house for our original Captivates and I had meant to test it before I left this morning but forgot. I will give it a shot on Thursday night, if you haven't received yours by then. I've been curious about it, too.

Apparently the old USB jigs won't work with 2.3.5 bootloader but some people have said flashing to stock ROM with this new type of USB jig might work but we need someone here to order and test it. Let us know what happens if anyone is planning to test it.

Not sure. It said its for the SGS II and would remove the yellow triangle. I hope that because its for a newer phone it will work. If not I'll see if I can find a different one.

The one I linked has a usb cable attached to the jig which is supposed to work for the newer ones, I don't think the SGS II will work.

There is no leak for ICS for our phones yet.
So you flashed the GSM version.
2 options:
Sprint insurance
or
buy a new phone
No one has been successful at jtag, I wouldn't even waste my time.

Look up JTAG on Google. I believe they charge $50 for unbricking service. You'll be out of a phone for awhile, but it's not like the phone is going to do you any good in its current state anyways.

I can vouch that nothing will work. I had someone send me theirs to try and,I installed drivers through Kies, got drivers from XDA, tried a USB jig, hard reset, my SD card with Mobile Odin on it, etc, etc, etc. If when you hold volume up and power and you have the green Android guy holding a box and your phone says I9100, its jtag or nothing. I spent a week (about an hour a day) trying everything. If your phone powers on but you can't connect to wifi or SD card isn't recognized and no network is found, don't even waste your time. I tried because I hoped I could pull it off with the help of some of the great minds from around here but it just wouldn't be recognized by Odin....and it does beep when I plug it into my laptop....so close yet so far

Anyone know if a simcard is necessary to connect the S2 to a computer? I haven't been able to connect to the pc, and yes I've installed the drivers. I'm waiting for a replacement screen that I'm going to install, but wanted to play with the phone before I take the simcard from my fiancee's old phone. I don't think she'd appreciate having to use a phone with a cracked screen for another week just so I can play with it =)
Edit: Whoops, should've posted this in the Q&A forum. If a dev could move it for me, that'd be wonderful. I'm not used to having a separate Q&A forum. With my Revo we only have a general section =(.

The answer is no. Lol. Sim card is only needed due radio operations.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, I didn't think so. I was reading something that suggested that the sim card is the problem, but it seemed a little bit weird to me. The other two fixes i can think of are that i actually need to buy an official samsung charger (although I'm not sure why an lg charger would charge the phone but not allow me to connect to my pc), or the USB port is bad. The Guy i bought it from mentioned that it would only charge if you held it in the right spot, but i haven't had that problem. luckily the USB port isonly 7 bucks with expedited shipping

Hey guys,
Looks like I have a very unique problem here with my Galaxy S4, M919. I've had the phone for about 2 months and it's worked flawlessly until yesterday. It just randomly stopped charging!
I've replaced the charging port already and also re-flashed ROM (aokp_jfltetmo_kitkat_nightly_2014-03-27).
I am unable to charge the phone, however it syncs perfectly with my PC. I've searched all day yesterday and all morning today for anyone with a similar problem but have yet to find anything.
You guys are my best and only hope now.
Please..anyone. I really need your help! I can't afford to purchase a new device.
If you require more information, let me know.
Thanks in advance for your time and help!
EDIT
I just ordered a Qi Wireless Charger from eBay. I'm hoping it'll allow me to charge the phone since it completely bypassed the charging port and is located on the mobo itself. Will update once it arrives and I test it out.
Still looking for answers to this problem though. So if anyone has any thoughts on what may have happened (and its solution), it would be greatly appreciated!
EDIT 2
Just received the Qi Wireless Charger.. It does not work either =(
I will be flashing back to stock again and try to charge the phone while it is off. This is the last thing I can try now. If it still doesn't work, I will be parting out my phone.
LCD $180
MoBo $120
Remaining parts can be discussed
Just message if interested!

Have you attempted to flash another ROM and see if the problem persists? Another kernel? I suggest trying another kernel first, then another ROM. Also, I have to ask just to cover all bases, have you tried multiple ports on your PC? The device won't charge at all or just while connected to PC?

Hey. Thanks for the reply.
I've already tried flashing a new kernel as well as ROM. I've tried all 4 ports on my PC. I forgot to mention that it also does not charge through any wall adapters. Any charging method that involves using a Micro USB cable does not work. The only response I can get is data sync when attached to my PC.

If you are with T-Mobile, I sure hope you have insurance or JUMP. As a T-Mobile employee, I can vouch that this problem is considered a hardware defect and would fall under an insurance plan. The only thing is though, you'd you have to return to full uprooted stock as an employee in your store will have to perform a physical and software diagnosis. Physical is easy as long as the phone has no cracked screen, no water damage and is YOUR phone. Software, they will plug it into our diagnosis tool where we'd be able to see if you've installed ROMs and such, which would void your warranty.

Hmm that is very strange. That's highly unfortunate and I'm sad to say this is definitely beyond my level of expertise at this point haha. I'd do some more looking around via Google but I really don't know what to tell you friend

That sucks lol. Thanks for trying though. I'm scared to say it but.. I don't think Google can even help me at this point :crying:
I just ordered a Qi Wireless Charger from eBay. I'm hoping it'll allow me to charge the phone since it completely bypassed the charging port and is located on the mobo itself. Will update once it arrives and I test it out.
Still looking for answers to this problem though. So if anyone has any thoughts on what may have happened (and its solution), it would be greatly appreciated!
Have you tried Odining back to stock?

Yeah. I've gone to stock..still doesn't charge. Re-rooted and flashed aokp again and same thing.
I honestly have no idea what could cause this. I've never..and i really mean never dropped my phone, nor had any sort of shock or damage to it. No liquid/moisture anywhere around it. No dust. It doesn't make sense for it to be something physical.. it's still being picked up by my computer. I'm still able to flash and transfer files to/from the phone. It just is not charging.

Well, it's most likely a malfunction then my friend. A customer came into my store just the other day with his S5 he just purchased three days prior. The device was stuck on that S-View screen even when the S-View case was not covering the screen and even completely detached. We tried everything you can at a T-Mobile store. Even factory reset. Still, the problem persisted. It happens friend, hope you have insurance or JUMP

I don't have insurance..I'm going to wait to try out the wireless charger and take it from there. I might sell the phone to someone with the wireless charger. Will have to just wait and see lol.
Really appreciate your time and help!

Are you still having this issue?
I am having the same issue, but this only happens when installing a rom. You cannot just reflash the stock rom. If you still have to phone, I can give you a link on what to down load to set your phone back to defaults. Once you set it back to defaults you should be fine.
My issue:
I installed any custom rom and this Tmobile Phone will not charge at all!!!!
Complete set back to Tmobile Defaults charges perfectly.
I will try flashing a custom Kernel with battery management to see if this help.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up selling the phone to someone for a cheaper price. I tried to ODIN back to stock, however it didn't work. I'd still like to know why it would stop charging if a custom ROM was installed though.
Best of luck with your phone :good:

I found my issue, it first came by my root method. I was using a method that wasn't designed for my model. Then the issue was recovery, again wrong type for model. Finally I got everything to work and I lost lte. to fix that I just added the LTE profile and it works.
