Does anyone know if the USB JIG actually works for resetting the flash counter? I've ordered mine but haven't got it yet.
My girlfriend has a jig at her house for our original Captivates and I had meant to test it before I left this morning but forgot. I will give it a shot on Thursday night, if you haven't received yours by then. I've been curious about it, too.

Mine won't be here for a couple of weeks so it would be awesome if you tested if it can reset the counter.
How do I check the counter? I was just curious if it would put the phone in download mode. Hehe.

Hold power and vol up while booting which should take you to the ODIN screen and keep going through and you will see the number of times you flashed.

Apparently the old USB jigs won't work with 2.3.5 bootloader but some people have said flashing to stock ROM with this new type of USB jig might work but we need someone here to order and test it. Let us know what happens if anyone is planning to test it.

Sorry I never got around to testing this. I've still yet to flash anything(other than the initial root), so my counter is still at zero.

Not sure. It said its for the SGS II and would remove the yellow triangle. I hope that because its for a newer phone it will work. If not I'll see if I can find a different one.

The one I linked has a usb cable attached to the jig which is supposed to work for the newer ones, I don't think the SGS II will work.
The one I ordered did not work. I guess I will wait to hear if anyone else finds one that does.

Were you on DaBomb or Bombaridie?r
Definitely sounds dead to me. If you can't get the device turned on, you can't get into recovery or download mode which means you really can't do anything.
I'd start by calling T-Mobile, tell them what happened and see if you can get it replaced under warranty. If it's as dead as you say it is, they probably won't be able to get far enough in to it to find that its been rooted etc...
Good luck
Tell me if you can download mode or recovery. If you cant go to download mode try this way.
1. Pull out battery along with sim card and sd card
2. Hold Up+Down volume buttons
3. Plug in the usb to connect to your pc
4. Put in your battery should work

I found one that I got last year for my Vibrant but it wouldn't throw my GSII into download mode so I was wondering if there were newer ones to support GSII or if the old ones were supposed to work.
I just ended up calling T-Mobile for an exchange right now though.

Meh get an Amaze then. People offered you the best advice and you decline all of it, despite making a thread asking for it.
**The regular Samsung Jig (there's only one kind) works on our device, I have confirmed this myself. Please search before making new threads looking for a savior, only to reject the help. Thanks in advance.

I was trying to go back to 2.3.x using ODIN after I installed the KP8 (update for a "leaked" ics) on my phone. Now my computer won't read the phone on download mode. Anyone have a fix for this?
Or do you know if that USB JIG will fix it?
that was not for our phone....malciado....jtag is your only fix

Yea..... GSM + CDMA = your screwed
There is no leak for ICS for our phones yet.
So you flashed the GSM version.
2 options:
Sprint insurance
or
buy a new phone
No one has been successful at jtag, I wouldn't even waste my time.

Look up JTAG on Google. I believe they charge $50 for unbricking service. You'll be out of a phone for awhile, but it's not like the phone is going to do you any good in its current state anyways.

Yea bro just placed my order from Mobile Tech Videos i'll post up how everything went to help others out with this problem. Good thing I kept my EVO for backup
I can vouch that nothing will work. I had someone send me theirs to try and,I installed drivers through Kies, got drivers from XDA, tried a USB jig, hard reset, my SD card with Mobile Odin on it, etc, etc, etc. If when you hold volume up and power and you have the green Android guy holding a box and your phone says I9100, its jtag or nothing. I spent a week (about an hour a day) trying everything. If your phone powers on but you can't connect to wifi or SD card isn't recognized and no network is found, don't even waste your time. I tried because I hoped I could pull it off with the help of some of the great minds from around here but it just wouldn't be recognized by Odin....and it does beep when I plug it into my laptop....so close yet so far

hey guys,

this is the app she downloaded ""play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mmmeff.ez.unlock""
anyways have people figured out to how to unbrick it? i know last night i also found on youtube "XnA8Djs55Ds" (type it in search) (Samsung Galaxy S III - JTAG Brick Repair Service (Debricking/Unbrick/Brick FIX) department that are unbricking phones, as any one heard about them?

dude i don't restrict my Girlfriend to use my phone since she has a ****ty one.. just didn't realize that one apps that she would install would #[email protected]$ it up ... but hey **** happens and i wont blame her for that. and i also some other people that got there S3 not functional like mine.
so i will keep searching for clues on maybe a fix. or will contact MobileTech..
not the first time to root and ROM other androids.. just bad luck..
and that App also add something to do with he Bootlaoder that i found.. so ya not sure if that had to do something with it.
My past experience with MobileTechVideos has been absolutely superb! When I hardbricked my Captivate I shipped it off and within a week it was back in my hands. The owner, Josh, even offered to flash the newest version of the ROM I was on(Serendipity 6.4 I think) for free! They are professional and have great prices.
Also, what does every single person always say? READ, READ, and READ AGAIN.
Best of luck.

Here's what I would do.
1) Try to get into download or recovery mode: hold either down or up volume key, home key, and then power key and see if you get anything at all.
2) Try a jig to get into download mode (you can find one for sales through mobiletech.
3) Try launching Odin and plugging in phone to see if Odin sees the phone.
4) Worst case is mobiletech for JTAG.

Can you even power on your phone? How long have you had your phone? If you are within the 14 day period and you can't power on the phone, I'd recommend that you take it back to the sprint store and get them to replace it. If you can't power it on, then they most likely won't be able to either. If you're not within the 14 days then they'll be able to ship you a new phone under the 1 year warranty. I made the mistake of accidentally flashing a kernel for my ET4G on my S3. I couldn't power my phone on. Took it in to them, they couldn't power it on either and was able to get a replacement on the spot, no questions asked. I told them that I was I was in the middle of an update when the phone restarted and then I couldn't power it back on.
Only other thing you can to is ship it out and have someone JTAG the device for you. MobileTechVideos.com has been mentioned in other threads as a JTAG service.
Hope this helps.
Hey guys . I Picked up a three month old galaxy this morning. I have had problems rooting before but always managed to fix them but this I cannot figure out. Here is exactly what I did and what happened.
1.First I rooted my phone using GalaxyS3RootUSCanadaMac.
2. Downloaded the following, superuser, ezunlock, and rom manager.
3. Flashed clokworkrecovery through rom manager.
4. Unlocked the bootloader with ezunlock
5. Tried to reboot into recovery via clockwork and it would just hang and never reboot.
6. Decided to do a restart , so I clicked power on the right hand side and selected restart.
7. Fell asleep and woke up to a dead phone.
I cannot get it to boot at all , not even in download mode. I get no lights or vibrations when trying to boot. If I remove the battery and hook the usb cord in I get a red light at the top but not with the battery in.
Any info on what I might have done wrong or what I can try to do to fix it would be great.
Thanks in advance guys.

This is completely inapplicable to the i747m, and the reason your phone's bricked.
Unless you can somehow get into download mode, you're going to need a JTAG to recover it.

Any suggestions n how to get into download mode? Also I have a usb JTAG from programming cable boxes but Im not sure if it will work?
I believe I read about someone else who used this. The unlocker is made for the Verizon variant. You will need JTAG service to get your phone up and running.

That's fraud big time! If you would have read up you wouldnt be in this situation. In all honestly I hope you have to come out of pocket because stunts like this is what makes those who do have REAL problems with their phone get the run around from companies.

Looks like Samsung has come through and is going to warranty it. It was repaired today by having the board replaced. Hopefully I will have it back next week.

Wow. Why can't they people read?? This is the reason companies don't want to to warranty anything because of crap like this.
