Hot restart? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone getting occasional hot restarts on rooted stock rom?
Maybe once a week? Not really doing anything intensive at the time.
Maybe it's time to flash new updated and tweaked rom on here.. Been good and resisting the flashaholic in me...

My phone started doing this lately and I restored/unrooted my phone and it doesnt get hot anymore. I've had my phone for 3 weeks and I rooted it on day 1 using zedomax's overclocked rom. Had no L.O.S issues at all but all of a sudden it started getting hot. Im gonna root again when he releases the next update....I miss my rooted phone already :'(
I use midnights rom without the Zedomaz OC kernal and use Z's stock kernal because I was having problems with receiving calls and texts.

Phone seems cool, BUT when I got my phone stock, it only ran hot with WIFI on and charging.
My phone also gets hot when I use it. What are your guys settings? Like brightness setting, or if it's OC& UV. The
I have my brightness lowered to the lowest setting and then changed he file again to lower it even more thanks to other devs and users.

Do anyone have a sugestion for the over heating

I suggest flashing StarBurst 1.6. I had overheating problems on stock doing basic things too (web, call, light gaming.) Ever since being rooted for about a week, no overheating since. Highest now is floating around 43 degrees celsius, and idle is 24-30.
I think the overheating has to do with the Android OS bug from what I've been experiencing on my phone. SB1.6 got rid of some background process that may help to lower AOS and overall heat output. Good luck.

My phone gets hot in a similar fashion and I am stock.
I think you may be correct. I experience the AOS bug as well.
Do you have a link to the starburst rom

Overheating on Blazer 4.1?

I just flashed this ROM last night and I love it but it seems to heat up rather quickly. Last night after I finished setting it up it was between 105° and 111° for about 30 minutes. Now, after leaving it alone for a few hours it's at 95° when it would usually be at 80° or 79° with Calk's 3.0. P.S. It's REALLY cold in my room. Anybody else experience this?

I've never experienced that, and I was on blazer 4.1 for a long time. Have you tried a fresh install?

I flashed it last night. For some reason it seems to be going down as I'm using it. Weird. An off-topic question, are there any tweaks for this ROM like the aggressive, moderate, and performance tweaks for Calk's 3.0?

Hot phone

Hello all. I have recently flashed AOKP and I am loving it. My only problem is that the phone gets really hot. And not just on this ROM but on anything other than full stock. Why is this? Is there a fix? My friend told me that installing a custom kernel can help. Is there any truth to that? Thank you.

It depends on what you're doing. Of course using alot of apps or playing games will cause the cpu to run at full speed. Its going to get warm.
No just from texting or using the web simple things

Its a known issue on the GS3.
Don't worry about it too much.
The processor is made to handle heat, and it doesn't come close to failing from heat.
If it really bugs you, you can always try a custom kernel and undervolt and under clock to see how it runs.
My GS3 runs extremely hot playing games, (Real Racing 3 to be exact, and it ran so hot I honestly thought the motherboard would start melting lol) I flashed a custom kernel, undervolted and it runs much much cooler now.
But yeah don't worry about it too much
It was made for that

I would try flashing the KT kernel or any other custom kernel u may prefer and see how it runs with that kernel stock settings and then tweak yo or like from there. Keep in mind all phones are different so some ones else's set up or settings may not work the same for u

Stock Touchwiz Battery Life

I got this phone a week ago, and ran stock build for 3 days before rooting and flashing a custom rom. On stock, I was getting about 5 hours screen on time, but no matter what kernel or rom I flash, I can never seem to get above 3h15min of screen on time. Considering stock has bloat and all, and with all that people say, wouldn't one expect the results to be flipped? Aren't custom roms supposed to be better than the bloated stock rom?

Hmm I have no idea how you got 5 hours on stock, unless you avoided doing anything at all that's graphic intense. For me anyway the best battery life I've had was a Google play edition ROM running the Google play kernel. Which I got 4 hours screen on time with gaming listening to music etc. From what I've seen 4 hours is about the norm for our varient

I'll try to return back to stock and see if it holds true again. If it does, well then I guess it's stock rooted permanently for me. Darn.

I only debloated a few apps (some Tmobile applications) that I didn't use but I have 141 apps (in total) installed!
And the battery life is great to me, I only lost 3 percent over night (7 hours) ,and during the day I average 3-4 hours of on screen time, but it lasts me through the day with no problem

Tmobile S3 Kernals Help

I need better battery life on my phone and its getting irritating that I can barley get through half a day so what are some Custom kernals that could help with that and isnt flashing a kernal just as easy as flashing the Zip like a rom?
Its that easy, but dont expect miracles just from a kernel flash. Especially if the battery is getting old.

Yeah I have had my phone for about a year and I have put that battery through its paces so I know its time to replace it, any kernel suggestions?
A lot of people seem to like the Ktoonsez kernels. I usually am running a stock kernel myself.
