Everything's stable, more colorful, and battery life is definitely better. Ics was fun whole it lasted, but I just realized how good EL29 is, compared to ics (for the tome being).

Don't go you just have to stick with one rom and let it settle.

I've given all ics roms a chance, no disrespect to the devs, they made it a lot more enjoyable. It's just that it's based on unofficial leaks and I'd rather have everything workig rather than finding out what's broke in a situation where i need it.

I find fc22 to be perfect for me ( havnt ran into anything broke, besides setting wallpaper), and I see about a 10% increase in battery life, but I have removed as much as I would in a gb rom. Im happy. And I have done the right tests to make sure my battery life is better...

I am on Agat63 FC22 and the only issue is the notification sound and that is kinda user error. I get about the same battery as I got on phantom blazer el29. Same usage.

Hey Overstew is there a good place to read up on what to change in these roms to get ICS blue? I use to do custom roms on touch pro 2 but that was a lot diffrent.

I flashed about 5 different EL29 roms and haven't flashed ics once.Because i know that ics is nowhere near ready yet and there isn't cwm for it yet.
The whole procedure is tricky(i can do it),flashing cm7 and then ics.And to go back to gb is think Odin i best bet if you don't want a brick.
Once there is stable ics and stable cwm for ics so i can flash different roms(without flashing cm7 first) then i will make that move. But i ditched Sprint and flashed to Virgin Mobile and i don't have warranty anymore to fix Epic if it bricks.
Hey over stew what method did you use to go back?

I did the same thing. I would much rather have full function and stability for now. We will have full source for ICS before too long. Then I will go back.
For all the people switching back, whats your main problem with ics fc22. Because I thought about switching back until I moved to fc22 from fc18.

Battery life in low signal areas. Certain incompatibility in some apps. (words with friends, for example.) And scrolling.
It really depends on ur needs. I agree that the ICS leaks are a lil flaky. I appreciate what the devs have done and all, but now ive moved on to asop cm9. It is ridiculously smooth! And notifications work perfectly. I dont use gps, i rarely use camcorder anyways. Although these deficits are ok with me, others so not much.

Honestly my main reason is due to all the constant updates. I personally tweak each ROM I run as what I want isn't readily available and I can do the work myself to make the build I am after. I get one done and a new one pops out. Which is great and frustrating at the same time. The fact that not everything is out for it either puts a damper on it too. Like a hotspot hack for the latest builds. I don't blame any of the devs for not keeping it updated as once they do update it another build comes out. That is a lot of work. Just moving PNG's around is a ***** much less coding framework files. It is little things that will take source for people smarter then me to fix. As far as issues I really haven't had a lot of them. The battery and scrolling can be aggravating. The notification sounds is a little annoying too but easily dealt with. But mainly I just would rather run a complete build now. Gather my PNG's and such and then once a final build is out. Make the one I have been waiting for.
My battery jumped from 84°F to 104°F with the screen only being on for 5 mins, I could understand if I was playing a game but I have been doing was browsing XDA?

Try any of Calkulins roms. They save your battery and keep you running cool. Ive used all of his roms. Used to run hot with even stock EL29 but Calkulins e4gt (any of them even his latest FD02 ics which I'm running now) keeps me running cool and smooth. And never had any problems flashing to or from any of his roms. He s the man. Thanks caulk!
I flashed calks 1.6 the other day and noticed big battery drain. I reflashed today just to make sure. Drains about 20% an hour in my pocket. As soon as I start using it, it drains so fast i can watch the percent countdown lol. It dropped 20% posting this. Its also charging weird. When I plugged it in it was at 65% and in 20 min it was full. This is very odd because I used this rom many times and it had great battery life. Anyone else experience anything like this on their E4GT ?

Must be a bad battery, how long have you have your battery? also have you removed battery stats?
Try using phone at maxxed out power until it drops to 0% then recharge battery until full, I recommend overnight.
And get back to me...
I don't think its the battery unless it went bad overnight lol. It was fine the other day. Something weird happened a few weeks ago i dont know if it has anything to do with this but I flashed a rom that I had flashed before many times (phantoms blazer ics) and it aborted the install. I reset my phone with sfhubs one-click , formatted it,
And tried flashing a new rom and same thing. I posted about it in Q&A and no one really helped out too much. I tried everything new downloads, new kernels you name it I tried it. And it still happened, everything I tried, to flash got aborted on el26. It was so odd cause it was doing it to old downloaded roms and the el26 I've been using since ics . I could flash a gb rom in el29 but as soon as a flashed el26 and tried flashing something it would happen again. The only thing that would flash successfully is calks format all (every time)So I got frustrated, and i stayed on stock rooted el29 for a week or 2 since no one would help. The other day I figured id try again off a fresh reset and new downloads, and it went fine, I flashed a few roms but decided to go back to calks 1.6 . And now the battery issue ? Should I wipe battery stats? I don't really know what that does. Btw I reflashed and it didn't solve anything, still draining. I will try running it down and charging overnight. Any other suggestions?

Or flash another Rom but imo its probably due to an app installed that's not ready for ics
only thing I can think of is I downloaded the T.5.3.0.32 VVM for ICS. The one I downloaded is supposed to safe for ICS. You think that could be draining my battery?

Time to upgrade to a released rom....
Calk's 1.6 is based on old, unreleased code and isn't supported. Calkulin has moved on and no longer dev'ing for this phone.
I would like to but I liked that rom for its stability and battery life, but my question is why is my battery life bad now. Ive ran this same rom (same download) before and it was great. Why the bad battery life all of a sudden?

I've been on Calkulins EGT.ROM from the get go and I loved that he was always on top of his ROM. Now that he has bailed this ROM has gotten old and outdated. I want some suggestions on what Rom I should jump to next. Right now I'm on Calkulin's E4GT v3.0 EL29 using modem FB21. Last few weeks I've been trying out different modems but none seem to work out for me. I'm in Central California if that makes a difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also if this still is the best ROM available can you tell me what modem is working the best for you? I've tried so many I forgot which one was giving me the best battery life and connection.
Stay on whatever modem works best for you man, it varies area to area phone to phone.... insofar as roms I'm loving sbrissens aosp jelly bean, which is extremely stable for an alpha and a great daily driver... should you want something that's 100% more or less though I'd look into either blue Kuban or goodness, both of which are ics touchwiz based like caulks ROM...

GPS is what it is and its just a matter of trying different modems till you figure out what works best for you... insofar as battery how old is your phone? Might be time for a new one, does it spin freely when you set it on a flat surface? And that being the case I would for sure just go with blue kuban or goodness those are probably the most stable easiest ICS ROMs we have...

There is a stock rooted FH13 floating around that is nice, very normal/basic ICS. I just don't use TW.
+1 for CM10 (I also jumped from Calk's ROMs). It's very smooth and very stable as of v5.1. Minor glitches here and there with audio volume, but other than that all major issues have been resolved.
I think my phone hates the CM10JB alpha for some reason ...GPS never works and battery life is horrible, I use some tweaked stock Rom.

Battery life is subjective based on use habits and what apps you have installed. However, blu kuban has served me very well, especially since the "battery life issue" (according to Samsung/Sprint) update of fh13.

I just picked up one of these phones to replace an original epic 4g (thing was great but after being dropped 5007 times it finally quit). I was using CM9 for a while on it but the GPS seemed flakey from time to time. As far as on this model, does GPS work well with CM9? The main things I need the phone to do without fail is make phone calls and GPS.
With that said, would CM9 be the suggested route or another basic rom?

So I am thinking about switching over to this ROM, now that Frosty ROM is no longer being supported by the dev. I have been reading through the treads and I don't see any issues people are having with this ROM. That's a huge plus!
I wanted to ask before flashing, does this ROM have themes? Does it have the ability to run the Galaxy Note 2 gallery and Camera, if so where is the download link? Does tethering work? How is battery life?
Sorry for the 20 questions, but I have to use my phone for work. I have to have it work.
Themes should work it has the option within aroma installer for the note2 gallery and stuff battery was awesome for me when I tried it got 4 hours on screen and 14 hours through the day.

4.2 is only available in aosp style so if you really like touchwiz and all it'd features, aosp is not for you. Go to the thread in the developer section and you'll find links to the ROM. Be ware that there is a echo issue in when calling but that's about it from what I've read.

I've been using Wiked JB v3 for about a week now after having tried about 5 other ROMs over the past 3 months. As another poster noted, Wiked is TouchWiz based, which I've decided I like better than CM/ASOP. When you flash Wiked, Aroma gives you several options including multiple launchers, gallery options and a couple others I don't remember offhand. I've been tremendously pleased with Wiked - it's stable, I've noticed nothing that's broken, battery life has been good (not great, but good), and no noticable issues related to voice or data signal. The developer is planning an update soon and seems to be providing stellar support to users.
Good luck!

I went ahead and flashed it last night. ( I came from Frosty 11.1) and I really like what I have seen so far. Since this is my first battery cycle the android system is pretty high (20%) and gsiff_deamon is what is driving it. I know this was an issue on Frosty, but am wondering if it is for Wicked. On Frosty the gsiff_deamon would run all time after experiencing a HOT BOOT. The solution was to reboot the phone. Is this the same thing? I have gotten 11 hrs out of this battery as of now and I am at 14%. Screen time only 1hr 36 min... I know I have to go through 3 cycles to really tell if battery is good, so that's why I am taking it with a grain of salt. If it does keep up, I might have to find another ROM. I was getting 16-17 hrs with Frosty running stock kernel (2 hr screen time)

If battery continues to be an issue for you, one you might consider is Team Sonic's FreeGS3 R7.1.1 "Resurrection". It is also TouchWiz based but has been tweaked in a way that gave me really good battery performance. I had a few random issues with it and decided to switch, but it was overall a good ROM.
