Ics syncing gets really hot. If you're on gb, then some app is running in the background making the CPU overheat.

Try any of Calkulins roms. They save your battery and keep you running cool. Ive used all of his roms. Used to run hot with even stock EL29 but Calkulins e4gt (any of them even his latest FD02 ics which I'm running now) keeps me running cool and smooth. And never had any problems flashing to or from any of his roms. He s the man. Thanks caulk!

Anyone took a break from srf 1.2 to play with the randomrom yet? Did you notice any changes? Do you feel it was worth it? Is everything of importance functional on your particular phone? Was there a significant change in batt life? I already get a !-2% drop every hour so im not to to worried about it..just curious about the rom itself?
Its a good gingerbread rom but srf works better cause its not a leak puts it ha a source code

Srf is still smoother with better battery life, but there are a few things that seem to run better, portrait to landscape seems to switch faster on GB, and the keyboard seems pretty smooth although I still get some misses.

My phone started doing this lately and I restored/unrooted my phone and it doesnt get hot anymore. I've had my phone for 3 weeks and I rooted it on day 1 using zedomax's overclocked rom. Had no L.O.S issues at all but all of a sudden it started getting hot. Im gonna root again when he releases the next update....I miss my rooted phone already :'(
I use midnights rom without the Zedomaz OC kernal and use Z's stock kernal because I was having problems with receiving calls and texts.

Phone seems cool, BUT when I got my phone stock, it only ran hot with WIFI on and charging.
My phone also gets hot when I use it. What are your guys settings? Like brightness setting, or if it's OC& UV. The
I have my brightness lowered to the lowest setting and then changed he file again to lower it even more thanks to other devs and users.

Do anyone have a sugestion for the over heating

I suggest flashing StarBurst 1.6. I had overheating problems on stock doing basic things too (web, call, light gaming.) Ever since being rooted for about a week, no overheating since. Highest now is floating around 43 degrees celsius, and idle is 24-30.
I think the overheating has to do with the Android OS bug from what I've been experiencing on my phone. SB1.6 got rid of some background process that may help to lower AOS and overall heat output. Good luck.

My phone gets hot in a similar fashion and I am stock.
I think you may be correct. I experience the AOS bug as well.
Do you have a link to the starburst rom

Is there something about ics that is making the phone run so hot, on aokp, cm9, and calk's 1.6 the phone is really hot after the screen is on for about 10 mins
I've had this issue once. Usually due to my phone not liking a kernel. Go back to a GB rom and if it doesn't persist then u found ur solution.

hapen when ur running many things on ur phone like watching video will make ur phone hot or playing games its normal
Mine did the same thing. I been using RubiX Reborn rom and it actually solved my problem. Even with wifi tether it doesn't get hot.

I just flashed this ROM last night and I love it but it seems to heat up rather quickly. Last night after I finished setting it up it was between 105° and 111° for about 30 minutes. Now, after leaving it alone for a few hours it's at 95° when it would usually be at 80° or 79° with Calk's 3.0. P.S. It's REALLY cold in my room. Anybody else experience this?

I've never experienced that, and I was on blazer 4.1 for a long time. Have you tried a fresh install?

I flashed it last night. For some reason it seems to be going down as I'm using it. Weird. An off-topic question, are there any tweaks for this ROM like the aggressive, moderate, and performance tweaks for Calk's 3.0?

Hello all. I have recently flashed AOKP and I am loving it. My only problem is that the phone gets really hot. And not just on this ROM but on anything other than full stock. Why is this? Is there a fix? My friend told me that installing a custom kernel can help. Is there any truth to that? Thank you.

It depends on what you're doing. Of course using alot of apps or playing games will cause the cpu to run at full speed. Its going to get warm.
No just from texting or using the web simple things

Its a known issue on the GS3.
Don't worry about it too much.
The processor is made to handle heat, and it doesn't come close to failing from heat.
If it really bugs you, you can always try a custom kernel and undervolt and under clock to see how it runs.
My GS3 runs extremely hot playing games, (Real Racing 3 to be exact, and it ran so hot I honestly thought the motherboard would start melting lol) I flashed a custom kernel, undervolted and it runs much much cooler now.
But yeah don't worry about it too much
It was made for that

I would try flashing the KT kernel or any other custom kernel u may prefer and see how it runs with that kernel stock settings and then tweak yo or like from there. Keep in mind all phones are different so some ones else's set up or settings may not work the same for u
