Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good flashlight app for the Nexus 4
Baz
I use Tiny Flashlight, works good for me.
power toggles has the advantage of having a shortcut toggle built into the widget for a flashlight which i like. one less app to have to install.
I use Widgetsoid. Similar to power toggles, but you can control how many homescreen cells the widget takes up. I have a 1x1 widget with just the flashlight on it.
I use TeslaLED. It integrates with Tasker and utilises shortcuts. Since I use Nova Launcher I have set up a gesture so a double tap on the home screen toggles the flashlight. Quick and easy

BONUS! He supports the lockscreen, so I made a flashlight widget on the lockscreen.
Been using the nexus torch with no problems.

I use both TeslaLED and Tasker, but never did think to integrate a gesture with Nova. Thanks for the idea! I'll probably try it out later.
I use teslaLED and widgetlocker, I have it set so I slide the lockscreen ring up to toggle torch on/off.

Try setting a gesture to lock/ put phone to sleep if you are using Nova/Tasker. Saves the pain to push the power button.
Another app can allow slide to wake on galaxy nexus and it is super useful. Unfortunately the dev doesn't have N4 available in his country. Shame

I use HD Widgets. It supports 4.2 lockscreen widgets and all kinds of power toggles right on the lockscreen.
It barely consumes any battery (unlike Tiny Flashlight which uses accelerometer), integrates well with Android (unlike Power Toggles and Widgetsoid) and fast (no need to unlock).

Search Light from Google Play. Its quick, has a viewfinder and no permissions that aren't needed.

My recommendation: Nexus Torch. Simple and for free.
TeslaLED.
I use Tesla also. Nice to have the Widget right there to have the light go on and off very quickly..

I am surprised no one has said anything about Holo Lamp. It is a simple flashlight app with the Holo theme. Simple, clean, attractive, & works well.
Use tiny flashlight + LED. It supports lock screen widgets in 4.2.

Well currently that's only option unfortunatly but the idea here is to implement that same function on the lockscreen using the ring that already has the camera and unlock icon.
You can toggle between silent and normal from the lock screen. When on lock screen, long press the power button and it'll pop up a menu which will allow you to do that. Not sure if you have seen that already. Otherwise, widget locker has some good reviews too.

Well that's pretty much been an option in every Android phone so far and I see that more as a hardcode workaround rather than a proper toggle since you can access that from pretty much anywhere. I have also used widget locker with the ICS layout and yes, the ringer toggle there is pretty much exactly what we need but I really don't like the idea of loading another app just to do that one small difference since the stock lockscreen will be running in the background taking up memory.
FYI, for anyone wondering. We're looking for something like this but as a standalone mod that could be flashed onto any 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 ROM:

Hello lads
two question (...and sorry if were already posted somewhere)
1.) how to get my GN vibrate automatically when in pocket through accelerometer or proximity?
2.) is there any possibility turning off any data exchange according pre-setting over night (for example turn off 10PM on 8AM)?
Thanks and ciao

Hello guys
I have just found an application from market, so called Droid inPocket (free). Works fine in regards to automatic vibration when in pocket or face down. Phone in second recognize how/where PDA is, then short 3 vibrates signalizes that activated. Once you take it out from pocket, or flip-over phone by short vibrate gets back to normal ring.
Check it out
Cheers, Majjjjo

Here's my setup that I've been using for a while now. Sorry it's so big but I have to post it all for full effect, haha. I moved it over from my last phone, just changed a few things. It goes lock screen, then screens 1-7 with 4 being the default. The games screen used to have invisible folders and when you touched the words the folders popped up, but i deleted a lot of games and haven't decided what I want to do with that page yet.
Nova launcher Prime with Multipicture live wallpaper. Custom Icons built into custom backgrounds. Then blank.png for the actual icons.
Widgets: mostly Android Pro Widgets with Minimal Magic Skins. PowerAMP on media screen. Simi clock on main screen.
I wanted something different, asthetically pleasing, but functional. Inspiration came from a post on mycolorscreen.com but I can't find it now. Sorry.

I dunno how many of you people have come across this extremely useful application called "GMD gesture control". Just tried it and thought its worth enough to share it with our s3 community.
With this app we can navigate the ui with simple gesture controls.
Highlights:
* emulate physical buttons via gesture(yes, no need to long press menu for recents apps anymore )
* multi touch gestures
* much more
Lite version here
Pro version here
App thread in xda is here
as this app (pro version) is extremely handy with custom gestures i request you guys to try it and share your idea about the custom gestures here with the community

I prefer two/three finger swipe to move previous or next app/task.
Definitely agree with recommending this app. I've been using it for months on my Acer Iconia Tab A500 and it was the second app I installed on my S3 when I got it. I don't think my gestures are anything really special, but the latest 4.0.x updates (to the app, not Android) have added MANY new possible gestures that simply weren't feasible before.
I've yet to play around with it enough, but has anyone made any awesome new gestures with the latest update?

Nova, ADWex, GoLauncher.... Most 3rd party launchers have this option.
I'm using PA roms on my ET4g and GT10.1 and use Nova Prime launcher on both. Love being able to hide the status bar on both, makes it look nice and clean.
Here's my main screen on my Tab. I have Nova Prime setup so when I double tap anywhere on the screen the status bar and notification shade drops down.
And here's my main screen on my ET4g. I have Nova Prime setup so when I swipe down the status bar and notification shade drops down. And when I swipe up the dock pops up or down.
Just makes for a super clean minimalistic look.
On a side note, I'm glad I checked this post out. Going to try out that app for the volume issue with JB roms. I've been using DSP on my Tab, it works but not 100%. And it doesn't work at all on my ET4g...

i think i havent had it since i switched to paranoid android a while back. but know i run PACman rom and i know for a fact i dont have the volume bug. though i do still use voodoo louder over volume+, though thats just my preference

Just makes for a super clean minimalistic look.
On a side note, I'm glad I checked this post out. Going to try out that app for the volume issue with JB roms. I've been using DSP on my Tab, it works but not 100%. And it doesn't work at all on my ET4g...

I've been using Apex to hide the notification bar. However, i 'm looking for something that will hide that status bar on apps as well.

I've been following the developer of ParanoidAndriod rom on Google+ for a few weeks now and this was just discussed a few days ago.
For what I've read the status is visible in most apps because the app its self calls it when we open the app. The developer said it may be possible to bypass this but... Then the discussion started to go way way over my head.
But what I gathered... It has to do with a lot of coding and scripting with in the the framework of the rom. So I think it would take more than the launcher to achieve.
But... I just flash other people's roms and know and understand just enough to do that right and safely so...

I have used Apex and am now Lightning launcher to hide the status Bar. Both work good. Lightning is very customizable.

How are you hiding your status bar in Lightning? I've tried, but it always seems to come back... for instance, someone replies to a Google+ post of mine... it shows back up...
