Please don't be Upset If I'm doing a repeat..
I've seen so many asking about sound on Shutter, Camera sound.
I found it a while back and didn't realize it was Hidden or as most are saying, not available ..
Go to Apps Section:
Look for App:
Smart Stay Ex Lite......If you don't have it, Get it on Play, free version because it says it's over $100
Even though it came on our phone.
Open App:
2nd settings, called Shutter Off, check it.......
Note: while in that App it should be or set to the Off at top of the Settings...
Enjoy All:highfive:
Clearly spam. Move along folks...
I think it's the shutter file under system/media/audio/ui. Try renaming that file. Works for me.

No need for an app, use the method posted above.

Hey all, after searching here and on google play without finding anything I dediced to ask you guys!
I can't find an app that activates my Flash LED which is next to the camera of my Ace, or, being more precise, I've used Tiny Flashlight and it works but it has TOO MANY USELESS permissions!
I installed many apps which have only flash permission or have no permission, but they just don't work, it says that flash is ON but actually it's OFF.
So any of you who sometimes uses Ace as a Torch could suggest me a good working app? The security aspect of Android is very understimated and it seems that no one cares about permissions.
(Sorry if I posted in wrong section, but this is an app and it must work for Ace so I guess it's the right place. Anyway moderator please move to the right section if necessary, thanks.)
up.
Try flashlight frm market
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
There is an app called flashlight HD Led in the market. Its permissions are systems tools -~ prevents phone from sleeping. Hardware control - for flash light and Network access.I think this will be ok for you. I haven't checked it yet. But it shows that it supports ace. You can check it.

you should use pdroid and block every permissions whitout reason to be there
sorry for my english
Nothing works....I guess I'll use PDroid.

Hey everyone I tried doing some searching but these words are pretty common so I couldn't find much.
The problem is that I know that by pressing and holding the menu button I get to the search function but the problem is that it doesn't give me the launch menu like it did on my S2 t989 for example when I held the search key on my S2 t989 a "which app would you like to do this in" menu would come up that would give me direct access to apps like shazam, soundhound, and screencast. Is that feature completely gone or do I have to enable a setting or something for this? I really loved having that menu there.
Also another question about the search function that does come up. It does not seem to be the same full search function from before but only for the web. I used to be able to search the apps that are actually on my phone and launch them through that menu as well. Is that possible anymore or has that been disabled too?
Don't get me wrong I LOVE this phone so much I just miss those couple little things. Thanks!
Thank crapple for the change in search function. If you are rooted go to /system/app and find GoogleQuickSearchBox_USA.apk. renameto remove the __USA part.
Dont know bout the other. Sorry.

Thanks for the quick reply and help. I am rooted and I am actually running FreeGS3 and in my /system/app folder there is only "GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk" there isn't one with "_USA" on it.
Thats odd. I know that used to work. Maybe im forgetting a step, though I dont think I am.

CM10 has settings under system where you can change the menu button long press action to in-app search.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
At some point whatever action you're trying to do you probably checked the "use as default" box and now you don't get the choice. I still get to choose which app I use for most things, not sure how to go back and remove the default though.

you can do it throught Google Gow. just go into Google Now>settings>phone search> and select what you want it to search.
I just loaded a custom ROM but when it asked what app to use it gave me this popup.
Clear default app settings by going to Settings>Applications manager>All
Well, this is embarrassing.
Something I just found interesting about (what I assume is) a TW limitation?
When I want to take a picture to attach to an SMS, or attach an old picture to an SMS, I seem to only have the choices of the stock cam and stock gallery apps.
I thought that perhaps I had inadvertently set a default in the first day of ownership (although I don't remember doing so, and I am fastidious about these things), but there were no defaults to clear, either in the MSGing app, or the cam app.
While I find being forced to use the stock gallery for attachment annoying (I like QuickPic far better, for several reasons), not the end of the world.
But I use Vignette almost exclusively for taking pics, and having to close txt app > open vignette > take pic > close vignette > (wait for pic to process) > open txting > attach pic... P.I.T.A.
Am I missing something obvious? It's been quite some time since I used TW stock for any period of time. (On my E4GT I used anything but TW for the last 6 months of ownership...) But even then I still seem to remember TW offering me a choice of installed cams for attachments. Is this a Note II "thing"? Or something in the newer iterations of TW?
Thanks for reading, comrades-in-nerdiness.

There are no defaults to clear in the cam, gallery or messenger. I am literally forced to use the stock cam in attaching a pic to a msg.
Can someone confirm that this is the case on stock for them as well?
Or perhaps confirm that on a different rom its Not the case?
(fu*king spam, thanks for the bump)

I downloaded the quick pic and I get no option to use it when picking a picture from the messaging app. Maybe contact the developer about it.
Edit: actually it might be how the phone software is meant to handle attachments. I installed another gallery app and it doesn't show up either.

thanks, if you're on stock, than I consider the issue confirmed. for stock at least. with gallery.
anyone on any other ROMs can confirm?
(I already assume that anything AOSP does not have the issue, but I am wondering if any TW base ROMs have tweaked something that would allow for other apps to be used as either defaults.)
I've only had the option to use stock camera/gallery on TW.

When choosing to add an attachment if you choose take picture it defaults to the stock camera. But when u chose to attach an image and click on the stock images symbol you get options to choose from different apps. And quickpic pops up fine for me. Just downloaded it since above poster mentioned it.

thanks for that! would never have found that, counter-intuitive! (also, I tend not to attach many images from the gallery, usually take them on the spot.)
(found another cool little thing, if you long press any icon in the attachments menu, takes you to the app properties...)
still hoping to find a way to use a better/different camera app in attachments though. hrm. far more important.

What I hate is when browsing the gallery if you have your dropbox synced to it you don't have an option to share. However I do for my Facebook pictures which is also an online service. So in order to share I have to go to the messaging app and click attach from the dropbox in the attach photo selection I posted above. If you attach directly from dropbox it created a link to visit instead but if you use it from the massaging app it loads up the photo.

All credit for these apps goes to @viper520. Shoutout to @zhuhang for maintaining the thread here on xda and creating some NICE impulse response samples,
I've been using ViPER4Android (V4A) for all my recent devices including the Droid DNA, S3, and the S4. So, naturally, I needed to get it on my Note 3 ASAP. There's two apps as part of this sound mod, but one is optional. The main app is called ViPER4Android FX. The current version is 2.3.1.1 and is compatible with stock rooted VZN Note 3. I use the optional app, ViPER4Android XHiFi, for superior bass and treble adjustment.
The newer versions of V4A allow for both system and user installations, but I've always installed it as a system app to ensure that it works 100% of the time (including watching movies with MX Player, YouTube, streaming with Google Play Music, etc.) So, my N3 installation instructions are as follows (note: your device MUST be rooted):
1) Download the app(s) from the original xda thread. Extract the 4.x versions of the apks from the .zip files.
2) Push both apks to system\app. Reboot so permissions get automatically fixed or manually change to rw-r-r-. (First screenie using Root Explorer).
3) Launch each app separately. Grant root access to each of them to install their drivers. They'll both prompt you to install drivers on first launch. Choose "Super Audio Quality" driver for FX. We have a quad core processor, so it can easily handle it. XHiFi is being phased out but still adds a richness I can't find in using FX alone. You must manually choose the bottom option. Reboot so it automatically fixes the permissions of the newly installed drivers.
4) After reboot, immediately go to settings\sound\music effects and choose ViPER4Android FX as the default sound processor (second screenie). NOTE: If you have a custom ROM, Music Effects may have been removed by your developer. Continue to the next step.
5) Open up /system/build.prop in text editor using any file explorer with root access. Change these lines (the bottom two apply to the VZN N3):
Code:
Ipa.decode=true to lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=true to tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=true to lpa.use-stagefright=false
NOTE: On a custom ROM, your build.prop may have been edited and these lines might not appear. They will definitely not appear if you're not on a Samsung device. You can either add these line manually for Samsung custom ROMs to ensure proper audio settings or simply continue without any build.prop edits.
6) Plug your headphones and start your favorite music app. Start up FX and enable it at the top and then check the driver status. If everything says you're processing, you're good to go. Enjoy the BEST sound on Android.
This is my tried and true installation. You can see from screenies 3 and 4 that it's definitely work on my N3. I'm not sure if installing it as a user app (just clicking the FX apk) will work or not as I didn't even try it. YMMV.
UPDATE: Tip for newer versions since this post was created:
Using the convolver is one of the most important things you can add to customize sound to your liking. You can access the convolver by going the UI Setting in the menu and selecting Moderate or Expert. The app will close and when you open it again, it will be under the equalizer. Once enabled, Download and extract IRS files to <storage>/ViPER4Android/Kernel/<paste files here>. If the directory doesn't exist, simply create it using a file manager. IRS's can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216193
I've seen this mentioned before but I'm not super familiar with it. Does this make THAT much of a difference? Everything sounds amazing on my N3 after my Galaxy Nexus.
I'm going to head over to the thread to check it out but I'd like to hear anything else you guys have to say about it.
Thanks for the guide.

Yes, the difference is VERY drastic. You'll notice it as soon as you begin tinkering. I'd post my settings, but everyone has their own sound preferences. The great thing is, this mod accommodates all musical tastes. As you see from my screenies, I let FX do most of the work, as it should, and only use XHiFi's Audio Reconstruct feature.
You're welcome for the guide. Post back in here how you like it/any installation problems I can help with.
I use it for blue tooth through my cars radio. It takes the sound quality from crappy factory speakers to the point where I see no need to replace them

Yes, it affects sound coming out of the regular speaker including speakerphone, but does not boost ringtones or notifications. I think this thread will help with that. Which reminds me...
I've been messing with V4A for so long, I forgot to include the instructions for Samsung devices in this post in my original guide. Fixing now.
Followed instructions. This mod is not working. Under processing, it says "No".

I know this sounds crazy, but that's usually not the important part. The important thing is if you can tell the difference in sound. If there's no modification, then there's a problem. Have you tried other music players? Have you tried the steps here?
When I go to the settings -> Sound -> Music Effects, it force closes. Otherwise, the mod sounds like it is working.
The only problem with the updated fx is there is no max gain now so it's not any louder

one of the best parts of viper is the .IRS samples
You have to go into "expert mode" for this.
then download the .irs files. fromt he original viper thread.
The best one I found was from a vintage 1980s technics Cassette deck.
It sounds awesome!
V4A FX has been updated to v2.3.1.3. Changelog:
FX version: v2.3.1.3
Notice: v2.3.1.3 partially-support Android 4.3.1 and Android 4.4 OS.
1.Bug fix.
2.Update translations.
3.Add a new bass mode.

The new bass mode is called Subwoofer and it's VERY deep bass. You can update by going to the OP of the V4A thread if you have it installed as a system app or just use the menu button and check for update if you have it installed as a data app.
Worked perfect on my rooted note 3. Thanks

thanks. wasn't working for me but one more reboot after editing build.prop did the trick.
I cannot get this to work for nothing. i do not notice any difference on headset or speaker. I followed OP instructions and nothing. My FX menu doesn't have the different bass options either. any ideas of how i can get this working.

To include Screen Writing's screenshot sound, that noise has got to go.
Third party apps seem like clutter and bloat so I thought about deleting the system/media/audio/ui oggs themselves. I also thought editing those files by turning them into silent audio files but I wanted to run it by you first. Help!
Use xposed framework
