I went to a corperate Sprint store today to upgrade to the Optimus G but the sales person told me that the Optimus G cannot be used with SERO Premium.
Did anyone else on here with SERO Premium upgraded their phone to Optimus G in store? What about through Sprint's website?

I previously had the LG Optimus S (3G Phone on SERO Premium). I then went to the sprint website to pre-order the phone 3 days before the phone was released. I ordered the phone thorugh sprint.com and it did not change plan (SERO premium). The only thing that was added was the $10 premium data which is required for a 4GLTE phone (there is no way to get around the premium data, I tried multiple times calling.)
Overall, I have the LG Optimus G phone on a SERO Premium (w/ $10 add on premium data). So what the sales person told you was wrong.

Yes, that's correct.
I too was able to retain my SERO Premium 500 plan. I usually avoid doing it in store because half the time they look at you like a deer in headlights when you say 'SERO'. I first started with online chat which then referred me to their business activation line (or whatever its called) and the guy on the phone helped me out.
Not only that, but when I tried completing the order over the phone, there was a problem with my credit card. He teleconferenced with my bank and it turned out they blocked my account because of 'suspicious activity' and that they would send me a new card. Unfortunately, that meant I would have to wait. So the Sprint rep gave me his email and said to email him when I was ready. Sure enough, maybe an hour after I emailed him to let him know I had a new card he called me back to complete the order. Probably the best customer service experience I've ever had.
As always - YMMV. Sometimes the trick is to just hang up and try again when its clear the rep can't/won't help you (as I have done in the past...just don't start yelling at them!)
SERO plans can be kept on upgrades. Just the additional $10 for premium data.

Went to 3 corporate stores around here and none of them are willing to activate it for me. Ended up having to order it through live chat...
I did an in-store upgrade monday from GS2 to this phone, on sero-p. It was painless & pretty quick, which is a bit abnormal.

I just called T-Mobile and asked why it was $329 when everybody else had it for $199. She said that it just is. I told her that I'd be buying a Galaxy Nexus straight from Google instead of extending my contract. She then transferred me to the "save" department where they instantly quoted me $186 before shipping and taxes. Ended up paying $211 and some change for express shipping and taxes and had the upgrade or activation fee waived.
I called and asked to be transfered to the "loyalty department" ended up paying 300 but they waived my upgrade and shipping fee AND credited my account 200$. Basically only paid 100 for the device

Sounds like there are all sorts of ways to get the S III for $199 or less with T-Mobile. Just have to be smart about it.
Wow Loyalty Department is awesome. I called them up and spoke to a nice guy about my situation. and Got a hell of a deal for a blue 32Gb GS3. I explained to the gentlemen that my wife wants to move to At&t and being with tmobile for 10 years I didn't really want to go but a friend of hers would hook us up with gs3 phones for $150 each and lower a monthly. The customer service was eager to help out to keep us with tmobile. after a few minutes on hold he came back with offering me a blue 32gb SGS3 for $120 and waving the over night charge plus saving me $50 on my monthly bill. also one of my phone are able to still upgrade next month. I'll save that for the next big thing in a few months. I love tmo. they know how to keep me as a valued customer. at the end of the phone call I asked him how soon will I have my new 32GB GS3. he said I should have it tomorrow when I get to work.

Yea t-mobiles been great to me. I have five lines and the next set of full up grades is dec and feb. Well i called tmobile told them to transfer me to customer loyalty. And after a bit of talking with the women ( sounded hot so hot) she said i will give u the s3 for 360 and also got the 50 dollar mail in rebate which is cool so actually paid 310 for phone and it was at my house in 3 days. She just said i see u are a valued customer with 5 lines and always pay your bill sir we want you ro stay . Anyways im happy customer...also even tho she called it an upgrade she said it will not affect my actual upgrade i think because i extended my contract. But thats cool cuz i have been with tmobile forever anyways. So when december comes around i can get whatever is badass at that time

I just signed up for Tmo on July 5th and called them about this code. They said its a student code and wasnt able to apply to my account since I'm not a student. Has anyone else been succesful adding this code to their account?

I think it depends how long you have been with them plus if you pay your bill on time every month and stuff. Little variables cam change the price drastically. Just a thought?

It's the Same department. When you dialing 611 and operator prompts you to select why you are calling just say "Cancel". That connects you directly to them.

When you guys upgraded via retentions, did they make you change your current data plan? I have the grandfathered 5 GB $30 data plan and I don't want to lose it. When I upgrade online it doesn't make me change it but obviously it's a lot more expensive.

It all depends if that plan will still be available with the offer they give you. Just say you wanna keep it and see if they agree.

I was in the same situation. Heidi gave me $5 off my data price per month. I asked her several times if my 5gb status would change and she assured me it would not. Ask nicely.
So I order my gn2 and a gs3 for my wife on the day they came out. I ordered mine via calling in and talking to a rep so I could swing a nice discount. I was very clear when I ordered that there would be no changes to my plan. I am currently on the 3000 minutes family plan with 5gbs of data for 20 a month per line.
The phones arrived and all was well.... until today I noticed I was showing 4g but only getting 70kbs. So I called in and spoke with tech support (non us rep) and he told me I had reached my 2gbs data limit! I told him I never agreed to any changes. He explained that or new phones had a new data feature that required the data plan to change. I called B.S. as my last phone was the g2 which had hspa already. He then gave me the same B.S. so I asked him to tell me what feature it was and of course he couldn't. He agreed to switch me back for 3 months and then I would have to pay 35 for 5gbs. I told him I would cancel and send the phones back so he finally gave in.
But wait it gets worse!
I didn't trust the guy so when I got off the phone I called back and stated "contract" on the automated menu which in my experience always gets me a US Rep. It worked, I love US english, no offense. So the lady I spoke with said that the last Rep I spoke with only changed one line even though I clearly stated and confirmed with him that both lines had been fixed.
The moral in the story is check your plans, talk to a US Rep, and reconfirm what was done! Don't buy into their B.S. If you had hspa before, it's the same hspa now. Hopefully this is an isolated incident, Good Luck!

Unlimited 4g is only $10 more than 2gb and on family plans is only $20/line I have four lines for $170 (2 lines 500 min limit) all with unlimited (9999GB) high speed data.
When I set up the plan, it was supposed to be that way, checked in store and it was 2gb, he changed it on the spot.
BTW, extra lines on family are free now $5/line with $5 credit for 24 months
I hang up and call back over and over until I get someone in the U.S

The rep in the T-Mobile store told me it was required to have the $30 unlimited data I said ok and called rententions when I got home she put me back on $20 for 5gb with no issues. I usually try to skip the regular reps nowadays and go straight to those guys.

I will be at the store nearest me at 8:30 Friday morning to try and get one. I am *so tired* of getting the runaround by ATT reps. First the inability to preorder online, then the phone rep telling me there's nothing she could do and they had no idea, and to go talk to a store. One store telling me that I could come back in a few days and preorder it from them, then saying a few days later they didn't even have the SKU in the system. *Then* that same store told me I wouldn't have a hard time at all getting one, however, I called back yesterday and they said "We aren't getting very many, you might want to be here early." ARGH. This shouldn't be this frustrating.

They were going to give me the phone for 299 with some freebee's but was adding a line and just keeping with no phone/data on it. 9.99 a month...Premier CSR gave it to me same price and did an early upgrade (6 months early!). I'm happy.

I tried buying the phone for full price and they told me it could be over a month before they are able to sell the GN2 off contract. I called customer support who actually called the store because they couldn't believe they wouldn't sell it to me. Customer support ended up saying its up to the manager to decide if they have limited stock...blah blah blah.

I have a business account with them so I am waiting to hear back from my company rep but this BS should be allowed to exist. I guess it could be up to the manager but why didnt you plan on hitting a few at&t stores, not just one? I'm sure others wouldnt mind taking your money.

UPDATE: I received it yesterday (12/6). 1 week and 3 days. I live in Philadelphia if that helps some of you estimate. Wal-Mart made me update my $25 for 2gb plan to $30 for 3 gb. I'm contemplating calling AT&T to have the switch me back. Yeah it's more cost efficient for the 3gb. But I'm always on Wi-Fi and rarely get past 1.2gb. Plus that's still $60 at the end of the year.
My dad bought his last week. Still on backorder.

Other Options
Just go order it from Costco or Sams Club. They have no activation fees/ upgrade fees, and you get free accesories.

Have your dad talk to AT&T about his plans to purchase the phone through Wal-Mart first so they can make a note on his account about the grandfathered unlimited data plan. Only AT&T can re-enable the grandfathered unlimited data plan. Then, when he goes and picks up/receives his phone, call AT&T before doing anything with the phone. (If he's picking up from Wal-Mart, tell the Wal-Mart rep to not do anything until they call up AT&T to work with them about his grandfathered unlimited data plan.) AT&T will need to know the SIM's numbers and the phone's IMEI. They'll tell him when to put the SIM in and turn the phone on. Make sure he keeps emphasizing to AT&T that he has the grandfathered unlimited data plan.
In fact, like in my case, if your dad hasn't purchased the phone yet, AT&T might even offer to price match Wal-Mart's price, which may be a better option if the Note II is still on backorder at Wal-Mart. AT&T tends to get priority over the retail stores, so they're able to dish out the phone sooner.
I dont see how walmart can come after him for collections if he changes his data plan, they can only come after him if uses a different sim card during the first 6 months after activation, though they send a bill before sending it to collections. They can also hit him with an etf if he cancels his account after the return grace period on top of the etf you will get from att.

While upgrading your phone through walmart, you have the option to keep your existing plan or w/e and keep your unlimited plan, apparently they cannot because they are a third party. I had to talk to att and another walmart rep, downgrade my data plan and it will have to be regrandfathered in later. In all this shipping was delayed once again. You would think with the 2 weeks they have said they have "processed" the purchase, this problem would have came up then instead of right before it is set to ship.
tl;dr don't use walmart, go amazon or straight through att, these people are too retarded to deal with.
Thanks for the replies guys. The reason he went through walmart is because of the $100 gift card offer. I told him there should be no issue reverting the plan if it does get changed and that's when he told me about walmart collections thing. But I'll pass this great info into him.

Well, if he's locked in on the order, he can call AT&T and alert them of the situation. Again, I advise he heavily emphasize he has the grandfathered plan. They need to leave a note on his account about it. geishroy described the process rather well, but AT&T must be aware of it. Most third party retailers don't know this. When I was about to place an order with Best Buy for my phone, I had to stop to verify with AT&T about my grandfathered data plan and that's when the AT&T rep offered me the price match. This will be a good learning experience for the Wal-Mart rep. Good luck.

It sounds like just a cheap sales tactic that particular rep developed. It's never good to lie to your customers. And if AT&T catches wind of this, the rep's store might be in trouble with AT&T for false claims.
Just curious, I looked at what the straight up trade in for my D851 G3 was. Now I originally had Jump on this phone but cancelled it 2 months ago. I would have been getting half back on it, which means since I paid $598 i would have got $299 credit back. I just looked at trade in, and its showing as $349! I may just go and trade it in tonight!
I had one G3 for me and one for my wife as well. She traded her last week for edge and received $349 credit. I was surprised too because last month the credit was $150 for same phone and i have No idea why did It go upto $349. When i saw$150 credit i told her that I was gonna keep her phone too and Just order a new one but once It went to $349 i went ahead and traded it in.

I didnt have the phone on me, but I stopped by my Tmo store, and they looked it up. Yes, they said trade in is indeed $349!

The catch is, you must trade it in towards another device. I thought I could turn it in for an account credit only.

For me, my wife's G3 was paid off and i owed $150 for my G3. So that $350 credit went towards my G3 and the rest would show up as account credit. That was the option the guy at TMO store gave us he also said i can use the whole 350 as bill credit too. The new edge we got was full price and we got it on payments with 0 down plus taxes. But they couldnt apply that credit towards new phone.
