From the G2X to the Galaxy 2

Im a tmo customer desperately trying to get rid of this g2x. Problem is tmo wants to charge me $540 for the phone, and my upgrade is nowhere near due. Is there ANY way I could somehow get this phone from tmo for the contract price ? any loop holes or something ?

any chance you can cancel your current contract? or transfer it to some body else in your family/friends perhaps?
then open a new contract new phone number, and get the SGS2
then swap the SIM card, and you are done

Not really. Otherwise everyone would do this every 6 months. Just sell the g2x and buy the gs2. You can get up to like 275 or so depending on condition. Subtract that from the retail of the gs2 and it's basically the same. Plus you can get them to split the payments up on your bill.

i was on the phone asking a rep about the split payments and she denied that they even do that. I always sells my phones on craigslist to upgrade, did it with the hero, evo, galaxy 1, g2x...but craigsloist is FLOODED with people selling the g2x i didnt post on it thinking i wouldnt be able to sell mine since there are so many postings. But thanks looks like i will have to just go the normal route. Thanks for the info.

She lied. I've done that with a bb9700,hd2 on contract,g2. They split it into 4 payments. The first you pay upfront with all sales tax included. So say 529+tax youd pay 132 or so plus the tax on 529 today. Then starting on your December bill, you'll have an extra 132 added to your bill the next 3 cycles. Essentially,your first payment delays a month of it being on your bill.
Also depends on credit I assume.

Check your acct on mytmobile. Somewhere on there it shows your credit limit. Act like your doing an upgrade, it's there somewhere. Good luck.

Yeah. Depends how you buy it I think. There's one way you can pay like 20/month. I've never done that though.

if you terminate your contract then theres early termination fees so that dont do you any good also.just put it on e-bay

You can only split you equipment into payments if you are on a value plan were you do not get and discount on the phone. They did away with it once value plans came out

you guys are swesome with the helpful info but what he said is right. I just spoke to a rep. She gave me the number to customer loyalty and told me they can offer me things cuzstomer service cat, so im going to try my luck and if not i'll just patiently wait until i sell this g2x. Thanks again guys

Just rob somebody if you have to. The G2X is that bad. I am very extremely happy with this device coming from a G2X. I will never buy an LG product of and kind again.

this is how i felt. i thought the g2x dev community was going to be rich but it wasnt/isnt. on top of the bugs, cant deal with lg or nvidia again

Ditto to this! I mean, the features offered on the g2x are 2nd to none, but the execution of these features are horrendous. LG beat me on that purchase, but surely lg and me will not be transacting again in the near future! I'm digging this sgs2 tho!

SGS2 cost me about $560 w/ tax, and I was able to sell ph G2X locally for $250. Took 1 hour on craigslist. So, I paid $310 for the phone, but very much worth it.

t-mobile blocked IMEI :(

Yes..they said the phone has fraudulant activity on it...but the phone was working fine for two straight weeks.

Call them back and explain the situation. Might have to prove you paid for it. Also try and find out what kind of fraudulent activity.

I did..they said the phone was stolen ..i explained the entire story to them..they still wont budge. I paid $550 for the phone. Its my bad luck..i got it from craigslist..i try calling the guy back..hes not answering.

I'd try go to the cops and see if you can return the phone to the user it was stolen from, as well as see if they can go after the guy you bought it from to recoup your money.

They said an employee stole the phone...and when i bought it it was sealed brand new.

But I somehow don't buy your story. Blocking IMEI is good protection against thieves.

Depending on the situation it can take weeks for an imei to get blocked. It doesn't matter how you got it, matters of it was paid for it not through them ie first payment default or stolen. Tmo will not unlock it. You need to call the cops.

Bad luck? Really? You allegedly chose to purchase a top of the line phone for full price off of Craigslist instead of the T-Mo store. Why in the world would you do that? Something does not make sense.
Anyway it's nice to see that if my phone is stolen, I can block anyone trying to use it. A person in one of the threads who claimed to work for Tmo said they can't really block phones. Guess that poster was wrong.

Bummer dude, if T-Mobile said it was stolen then that's all there is. No way to change that, they block the IMEIs of phones that are reported lost, stolen, and phones on EIP (Equipment Installation Program) that have stopped paying. Best bet is to unlock to AT&T and sell it. I got mine in a trade for my note, but made sure to get the receipt even tho it was a previous customer of mine. Called T-mobile and immediately to have it registered in my name with IMEI to make sure there was no EIP in place. Next time run the IMEI, ask them to go into a T-Mobile store with you instead of meeting them at McDonald's. :angel:

What is not to believe? I bought mine off CL too... I didn't want to extend my contract, I have 1 more year with T-mobile then I'm switching to something else (but that's another story). If I bought the phone from T-mobile it would have cost me like $330 + tax - the $50MIR + get locked in to T-mobile for an extra 12 months of service... I bought the phone from someone - Yeah, I paid a little extra, but I have the option of LEAVING T-mobile in 12 months - AS I PLAN TOO, for a cheaper monthly service - so TO ME it was worth the extra up-front cost.
I'm not defending the OP, I'm defending the idea that its shady to buy a high end phone off craigslist or NOT from the dealer. Just because YOU think its ok to FINANCE the extra balance and cost of the phone instead of paying up front for it, that's YOUR CHOICE (or the OP choice) if not then that is also THEIR CHOICE.
I have bought several iPhone's - ALL FOR MUCH MORE THAN THE CONTRACT DISCOUNT PRICE because we have been on T-mobile which doesn't offer the iPhone so the only way to get the iPhone is to buy out right. That might make me stupid, but not shady. :good:

All cellphone carriers in the US must sell phones at their outright price. I just bought my S3 from VZW at $600 full price...Why didn't you just do that?

replace S3 with SGN and we are brothers!!! my power button also doesnt work on the the 3gs, i really am itching, the only thing i like is that i can get 2 weeks of crap before my glorious screen returns!!!

I will be at the store nearest me at 8:30 Friday morning to try and get one. I am *so tired* of getting the runaround by ATT reps. First the inability to preorder online, then the phone rep telling me there's nothing she could do and they had no idea, and to go talk to a store. One store telling me that I could come back in a few days and preorder it from them, then saying a few days later they didn't even have the SKU in the system. *Then* that same store told me I wouldn't have a hard time at all getting one, however, I called back yesterday and they said "We aren't getting very many, you might want to be here early." ARGH. This shouldn't be this frustrating.

Just checked att website says they have them in stock to purchase at my local att store in upper darby, pa!

My local store just call me to let me know they have more than enough in @ the Town Center Jacksonville, Fl. Too bad I got a really good deal via premier support by phone. They were going to give me the phone for 299 with some freebee's but was adding a line and just keeping with no phone/data on it. 9.99 a month...Premier CSR gave it to me same price and did an early upgrade (6 months early!). I'm happy.

Just got one from my local store. Got the last one. They only had 2.

This really sucks. I went to an at&t store and waited until they opened this morning. They had 5 galaxy notes for sale but they would not sell me once because I would not sign a new contract. I tried buying the phone for full price and they told me it could be over a month before they are able to sell the GN2 off contract. I called customer support who actually called the store because they couldn't believe they wouldn't sell it to me. Customer support ended up saying its up to the manager to decide if they have limited stock...blah blah blah.
Terrible customer service from at&t as usual. I don't know what to do about it now because even customer support would not let me order it from them directly on the phone. I have a business account with them so I am waiting to hear back from my company rep but this BS should be allowed to exist. I am literally willing to give them $650 + tax for a phone and they won't take my money. If it wasn't for my grandfathered unlimited data plan than I would think about leaving them. Does anyone have any similar experience or suggestions on how to make this happen for me? I really wanted to get a GN2.

I guess it could be up to the manager but why didnt you plan on hitting a few at&t stores, not just one? I'm sure others wouldnt mind taking your money.

I used my wifes upgade to buy my One. Just took the sim out of my DNA and put it in the one and it activated automatically. Never heard a thing from vzw.

Got the phone, having dinner and then home to do the swap. Rep at BB is a former Verizon rep and also said I could just swap sims. I will probably do it online as I don't think my tbolt Sim will fit in the One without cutting it.

Yeah just seen this deal time to switch from Note 2 to this.....time for something alittle different!

Bought my One on Friday from Amazon. Saw this post, called Amazon for them to price match before realizing they dropped the price too. Refund coming my way.

Upgrading Through Insurance/ Extended Warrenty
I went to the Verizon store and asked a rep how i could upgrade my Incredible 4G to the HTC One, since my phone was cracked he told me I had to go through insurance and pay $100 deductable to get it replaced. Would this still be able to work with the Best Buy version??? I currently am due for an upgrade but I don't want to loose my Unlimited Data at the moment or shell out the full retail price for the One. And is the $50 deal only for new 2 yr contract?

I kept hemming and hawing for weeks about whether to get the One or S4. Seeing the price at BB clinched it. Wanted to continue with HTC. I had the Thunderbolt since it release. Thank goodness for root and developers. Now I wait patiently for root to be obtained without having to send my phone out to be s-off.

He meant he paid $150 too much. He bought it for $199 but now it's $50, so he could have saved $150.
I don't know about you, but I generally like saving $150 whenever I can.

I like the seeing the price of phones go down, but I can't help but think that when a phone like the One drops to $50, people get the impression that HTC is not a good phone.
My wife has an s4 and my sister in law just got one. I told her she should have gotten the One and her response was "I'm not getting an HTC."
There are so many people that won't even touch an HTC phone, and I think it is because the carriers drop the price immediately so it looks like a failed product. I haven't checked, but I wouldn't be surprised if the S3 costs more than the One now. I am quite sure the Moto X and s4 will not drop in price anytime soon.

I had pre-ordered mine from them, went on the 17th to pick it up (called ahead to confirm) and they told me that mine wasn't there yet, that I had to wait, maybe a few days... I told them that was BS, what was the point of pre-ordering then? So I cancelled my pre-order, got even a refund for the $50 gift card they made me buy for it, went to the AT&T store next door where they had plenty of them, so I bought one.
Last time I'm pre-ordering anything from Best Buy.

Think I'm going to be doing the same. Geez

note to self: dont preorder Note Edge with bestbuy, i going to preorder with att.
i know i have 50$ gift card for Bestbuy also, but it' just not worth it to wait, wait, wait for that 50$ saving.

I was lured in by the promise of the $200 for any working smartphone, now I'm playing the endless waiting game for Best Buy to get their act together and deliver on a "pre-order". I do know, this will be the last purchase I ever make from them, I'm using all my gift cards on this and cutting ties for good. Their lack of any clue as to when something will be delivered was the last straw.

Yeah that's exactly what lured me in too, but their incompetence pissed me off and I cancelled the pre-order. I used Samsung's own promotion to get $200, which I'm still processing to get a mail in rebate, hopefully it will work! I already got $100 for my old phone so it's not that bad

If it wasn't for the fact that I'm going to buy a phone for $20 to trade towards my phone for an immediate $200 card to go towards my Note 4 and then be able to keep my Note 2 to be able to sell outright, I would cancel and walk too. Just the money for any working smartphone has me staying for one last purchase from Best Buy.

Good to know I'm not the only one.

Yeah just watch that the phone you trade in had to have a minimum of $10 trade in value, you can check how much it is on their website

The Samsung trade in said $10 minimum trade in, the Best Buy offer was any working smartphone. Basically if it pulls up in their system, it counts. I'm just going to buy a prepaid smartphone they have for $20, won't even take it out of the box.

Trust me, if it wasn't for that little perk, I would have said bye bye to Best Buy already. I'm almost over the fact I will be making money on this upgrade because it is taking so long.

Hang in there, the note 4 is totally worth it!

Still waiting on a black note 4, ordered in CT. ordered on 10-13. Garbage waiting this long, but $200 for an iPhone 3G, I can live with my Note 3 for now. Plus, the accessories market can work itself out. Still hate that I have no idea when the phone is coming and I was told it was supposed to be here on the 17th.

That sucks...my buddy pre-ordered his from att, but the shipping was all messed up. Sat in TX for a bit, then his tracking information noted a truck broke down and caused another day delay. I guess I got lucky with Best Buy. Went to my pre-order store and waited for probably 25 mins before sitting with someone. She asked if I had a trade-in and I gave her my Moto Atrix. It was barely running. Wifi/GPS didn't work, it was tired. She turned it on and gave me a look when it said "unlocked" when booting. Turned on and got the 200 credit. Got my phone 25 mins after and away I went. BB does suck overall though. Good luck!
