Troubles with mms - Samsung Captivate Glide

I dunno if this is better placed here or in general, but I was wondering if anyone knows of an app that can tell me the status of a handshake between phone and tower.
I want to log the phone to see what is missing in the apn settings so I can fix it, make sense?
If not an app, maybe someone can explain to me the kernel or system rom and how it logs this because its gotta somehow.

I guess what I'm getting at is, is anyone else having issues with mms since they moves to 4.0.4 or is it just something I'm missing. I call tech support and they are worthless, I know more than they do about the products they claim to support lol sad really.
Anyways the network I use is Viaero Wireless.
My mms apn is as follows:
APN: MMS
MMSC: http://mms.viaero.com
Mmsc proxy: -IP address given-
Apn type: mms
Its a 3g network that had 2g speeds, apparently we will be getting 4g soon non lte.. but 4g 5mb hopefully!

Switching One X from AT&T service to NET10...?

Right now I have a One X with service through AT&T. I simply cannot afford to pay the ETF right now so my two options are to get a unlocked SIM card from cell-unlocker or the such and sell the phone -or- get an SIM card and $50/mo unlimited plan through NET10 who now offers their own SIM cards for switching AT&T GSM phones over to their service. My question is this- a) if I do end up going through NET10- essentially I am just unlocking my phone and switching it to their service, correct? So I should not have to pay AT&T the ETF? (Yes I am aware it will eventually go to collections and I do intend on paying it as soon as I have the money to do so). and b) they say on their site that smart phones are supported but it's possible depending on your phone that some internet/web based apps/features may not work correctly. Anyone have any idea if this is true with the HOX and if so what possibly could break after the transfer? Thanks in advance.
I can't post links so here's the info on the SIM card from their site:
AT&T Compatible SIM Card + $50 Monthly Unlimited* Plan
Use your own compatible or unlocked GSM phone on America's best nationwide networks. Select a SIM or SIM bundle to get Unlimited Data, Talk & Text. It's that easy.
Includes Net10 Unlimited* Airtime Card (Talk, Text, Data/Web/Email, 411/30 Access Days)
Unlimited GSM service on the best nationwide networks
$50 per month - Unlimited Data, Talk & Text
No contracts, no bills, no credit checks
Use any compatible or unlocked GSM phone - including smart phones
Keep your phone number
Works with SMS, IM, social networks, email, web

They also give you instructions on changing the APN which are as follows:
Find below the values needed to update your device data settings to be able to send MMS* and connect to the Internet via your Browser:
1) CREATE A NEW APN (ACCESS POINT NAME). ENTER ONLY THE SETTINGS LISTED BELOW:
NAME: net10
APN: att.mvno
PROXY: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
PORT: 80
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS PROXY: 66.209.11.33
MMS PORT: 80
2) SELECT THE APN YOU JUST CREATED.
3) DELETE THE OLD APN FROM YOUR PHONE IF POSSIBLE.
NEED HELP UPDATING YOUR PHONE'S SETTINGS?
*Updating your APN settings does not guarantee MMS (Multimedia/Picture Messaging) will work. MMS is dependent upon your phone model's limitations. If you have an iPhone and you would like to use MMS, you will need to Jailbreak** your iPhone in order to update your MMS settings.
**Search "Jailbreak iPhone" on-line for more information.
you can do essentially the same thing on straight talk for $45/month. you may want to go to howard forums and try to ask your question there. a lot of long-time prepaid users there.
also, have you explored the possibility to talking to a service rep about moving to the at&t $25month prepaid plan (250 minutes talk time, unlimited texts but you have to pay an additional $25/month for 1gb of data) because you are having problems with your current contract? i suppose you won't get much sympathy, but maybe you can work something out to avoid taking the hit on your credit rating.
good luck.
appreciate your reply- yea credit score isn't much of a concern here (unfortunately) and I did see that straight-talk contract which does appear to be virtually identical for $5 cheaper so that is a possibilty. After doing some further research I have two kind of follow up questions that hopefully someone might know the answer(s) to:
Will have have to buy a sim card from cellunlocker *First* to unlock the phone before switching it? Or I can just go straight to using NET10's sim card?
Is it possible that having the phone already unlocked/rooted/custom rom'd that this will screw it up or vice versa?
Thanks in advance
you dont need to unlock your phone when using straight talk or net10
I just activated one NET10 with ATT network and this is what they gave me for internet:
APN Name: NET10
APN: wap.tracfone
PORT: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Port: 80
Delete the current APN from your phone.
Reboot your phone.

as follows:
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
And this one works great.

thanks [email protected] These are the first settings that have worked at all to get mobile web on my wifes I927.... now if I can I can get MMS to work all will be well. It won't work over WiFi either so it is probably a different problem than APN settings

Well, after looking around, it seems that MMS grabs messages only on mobile web not WiFi at all. MW pops on to download the messages. With [email protected]'s settings I am getting 4G web speed, but no MMS. Anyone have any ideas? We use Net 10 on an unlocked I927 Glide. Using a rooted stock rom.

Finally got time to monkey around with wife's phone again. I tried leaving the MMS Proxy line blank and that did the trick. Can now send/receive MMS and use Mobile Web..... SWEET.

HSPA+ / LTE Switching APN Issue? No Data during calls.

If I run the default APN
Name: ATT PHONE
APN: phone
Proxy: ~Not set~
Port: ~Not set~
Username: ~Not set~
Password: ~Not set~
Server: ~Not set~
MMSC:http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type:
APN type: default,mms,supl
I get LTE all the time and if I make a call it looks like a HSPA+ 4G Icon appears for a split second that disappears and it's just Signal bars whole call and no Data really annoying.
I tried wap.cingular APN and it just stays connected to HSPA+ 4G and works during calls but never connects to LTE ever.....
WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF help
Not sure why your having those issues?? Might be something you just recently did?
You can look here and try one of these, to see if they help!

This is just a shot in the dark here but isn't 4g LTE a data only network for now? Im not sure if att has implemented any voice over lte back end stuff yet. My device does the exact same thing, 4g most of the time, 3g when on a phone call. But i do get a data connection while in 3g, just a slower one.
Check what this guy says about your issue. Seems maybe? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388561
It's just giving me any data I know it can't do Voice over LTE. But it would always drop to 3G or 4G HSPA+ while on the phone. When I'm on the phone it just does nothing and just shows signal bars and data isn't working. I tried every APN on that list some connect LTE Only no Data during calls some only 4G HSPA+ no LTE period and it does work during calls.
I don't know if it's my phone. I flashed multiple modems and roms....

Huh, You didn't mention if you have unlimited Data plan. I assume that since you have the Note II and you didn't mention buying it at the whole price, which may seem like you're on a limited data plan.
Check your Data Usage, especially among these: Google Play, any social network apps, and any games. they often requires internet access to upload or check for update as well as license verification.
However, It might be that your data plan has changed since AT&T and Verizon has announced that they ended the Unlimited Data Plan.
I have the same issue. I really notice it when I'm using tethering and a call comes in. My data slows down to barely a crawl. Once the call completes it's back up to normal.
I'm running Clean ROM ACE 5.0

FIXED! - No LTE

Hey guys. I'm kinda stuck here. I am getting no LTE service on my phone at all. Of course those idiots at straight talk keep saying im provisioned for it but nope, not getting it. I tried everything I can think of from factory resetting to apn settings and nothing. When I go into my network it bounces between HSAP and HSPAP but no LTE. I live in an LTE service area and was getting LTE up to about a week ago but then suddenly it was gone. Any ideas as to what I can do?
Can ask what are your APN settings?
Sent from my LG-E988 using Tapatalk
The ones ST gave me.
Name - Straight Talk
APN - tfdata
MMSC - http://mms-tf.net
MMS proxy - mms3.tracfone.com
MMS port - 80
I don't understand what's goin on. It just doesn't work anymore for some reason. And ST troubleshooting is non existent. All they tell you is to put in those apn settings and it should work. Well it isn't dumbasses!....lol
Also port :80 . I have straight talk too. Your apn looks right
My wife has the Optimus g and her LTE is working just fine. WITH the same APN settings! The last thing I remember doing was going through the hidden service menu but I didn't change anything in there. There is nothing you can change in there to make your LTE stop working. I know with some phones you can but not with the OGP.

Ok guys. I got the issue resolved. I used this method here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351041
The only issue I had was for some reason I couldn't manually edit the build.prop. I had to install JRummies Rom Toolbox Lite and that did the trick. It's so nice to have my LTE back!
Thanks for the link. Always liked to manually set to 2g or 4g when lte was weak. One reason I always installed custom roms and didn't stick to stock.

Personally I don't worry too much about it. Being on stock with this phone gets great battery life. So no need to turn off the LTE to conserve battery.

[Q] IPv4 not working in AOSP roms

Im wondering why in aosp, why the apn setting using ipv4 T-Mobile US LTE......kills my data connection but T-Mobile US LTE IPv6 works.
Anything i can do on my end?
Kernel, rom related?
I'm not sure why this works (especially seeing both names resolve to the same two IP addresses) but I've found I can always get the IPv4 APN to work if I go in and edit the APN to fast.tmobile.com from fast.t-mobile.com.
Tethering still gives me problems when IPv6 is available so I am glad changing the APN destination works, even if I still can't explain it.
Weird....that did work. I'm actually getting faster download speeds under ipv4 compared to ipv6 lol
Here's another question, why can't I send or receive MMS on AOSP while on Wifi??

Lg G4 verizon MMS

So I'm using a Verizon LG G4 on Straight Talk AT&T sim. The reason being is that Verizon coverage is very poor in the area that the phone is used the most. I was able to get calls, data and texting working using the tfdata and/or RESELLER APN. I can't however get incoming MMS messages to work. I installed Textra to try and workaround the stock messaging app but it seems to have the same limitation. I also changed the settings from Legacy to Sytem in Textra but that didn't fix the issue. Does anyone know of a way to get MMS fully working using the ST AT&T sim on this verizon G4 device or is it not capable. Would routing the device make it so I could get MMS fully functioning? If so would I need to flash to AT&T firmware or would that not even be possible on this Verizon device? Thanks for any helpful advice you can offer. I've done several searches on xda and Google but can't find a solution. Thanks again. Steve

I had data didnt have mms so in the end i combined the data apn and the mms apn while making sure to set the apn protocol to iPv4/iPv6. Now i have mms hope that helps.
I'm using the following settings and having no problems:
Code:
APN: tfdata
MMSC: h t t p : / / m m s - t f . n e t
MMS Proxy: m m s 3 . t r a c f o n e . c o m
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: None
APN Type: default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
APN Enable/Disable: Enabled
Bearer: Unspecified
Everything else is "Not Set"
(Remove the spaces in the URLs)
Hope that helps!
