[Q] Can't Connect to WiFi - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I thought I posted this already yesterday, but can't seem to find it (was it moved?).
I just flashed to Universe2.3 and I can't seem to connect to my wifi network. The device sees it, but won't connect. When I input password, it just says "saved and secured". When I hit connect nothing happens and it doesn't show up in the notification area. All of my other devices (laptop, desktop, etc.) are connected fine so I suspect the problem is within the phone settings, but I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

htc wifi router installed, now internet not working

I got the htc wifi router working and surfed for a few minutes. I logged out of my PC and back in and the internet wouldnt work on my PC or my phone. I rebooted my phone and still the same problem. Has anyone else run across this problem? How do I fix it/troubleshoot it? 3G is showing it is connected
Has anyone else had this problem? I had to finally do a hard reset/wipe to get things working again.
There's another similar report here, maybe in the cdma area.
I'm not clear on your issue. Is this wmwifi not working after a reboot or Activesync not recognizing after the reboot?
And are you using the latest wmwifi?
edit: I'm adding that I downloaded the latest wmwifirouter last friday 18sep09, and I thought it was a vpn/wifi issue on my laptop. My TP2 did not recognize under activesync after I did a few things, but WM did work the one time I tested it.
I am not using wmwifi. I am using HTC CM Internet Sharing:

I figured it was put out by HTC (and free) so it should work right?
It created the wifi access point fine, and I was able to surf with my laptop at good speeds. I left and came back and the internet would no longer connect (laptop or phone).
I tried everything from soft rebooting, to removing the application, to calling *228 (reset the phone), and even manually setting up the verizon data settings. Nothing worked. I just could not establish a data connection.
Finally I gave up and did a hard reboot and restore and it finally worked.
I really need a reliable way of setting up a wifi access point but dont want to risk this fiasco again.
Yeah, I mis-read your first post, sorry!
For me it was as simple as starting the wifi router program and then cleanly stopping it. If forced to quit, you will have no network access. It's happened a couple times for me.

Hi there, I had used htc wifi router a while back and hadnt tried connecting the phone to the local wifi network since. After reading your post, I thought I'd check and yes I was getting the same problem, i.e. it wouldn't connect to my home wifi network.
I found the fix to be as follows:
1) Go into comms manager, turn WiFi on
2) Under settings go to wireless LAN
3) In the main tab you will that the SSID is set to "Mobile router", select change network button underneath.
4) Now you should see the SSID of your network, dont select anything, just press o.k at the top and hey presto it will connect.
Let us know if this worked.

Thanks. I couldnt connect to the internet through 3G either though, even though the 3G icon was showing in my status bar.

Ah, that's probably for some other reason, no issues with 3G connection for me.
Same problem for me. I connect to the mobile through wifi (Adhoc connection) and the mobile is connected in 3G but I can't surf internet from my laptop.
Enable DHCP
Hi all
Sometimes after using this software you need to renable DHCP in the connections settings. This can be done via:
Start>Settings>Connections>WiFi>Wireless Networks>Network Adaptors>NE2000 Compatible Ethernet Adaptor and then select Use server-assigned IP address.
Cheers

[Q] Internet works - tehering doesn't

Anyone else had this happen? It's a Telstra phone with the latest Telstra ROM on it, and it used to work perfectly but I recently changed providers and it doesn't work any more - I know the data connection is still OK though as browsing on the phone still works.
Not sure if it's provider blocking (but that's sooooo 2009) or if the phone itself is hard coded to use the 850MHz band for tethering or something? The error I get is simply "Error APN" - but I know the APN is correct (it's just 'internet').
You're trying to USB or wifi or BT tether the data cxn on your phone to your PC, yes...?
I guess I'm confused as to why an APN even comes into play here.
This is with USB tethering - the same as it always used to work - you plug it into the PC, select Internet on the phone and after a few seconds the PC has access to the internet. File access works fine, internet connection on the phone works fine, just not when tethered as a modem.
I've also loaded GBX0C and Windows can't recognise the device when I'm running XDA (via USB or wifi tethering - it's a desktop PC so no BT) so I can't easily test if it's the ROM or the hardware.

Please, let's keep troubleshooting to WinMo in this section... If you have an issue with a particular Android build, post in that build thread.
As for USB tethering in WinMo - when you select "internet", what happens? Do you get the noise on your PC like you've connected the phone or...? Have you tried a different port, and/or a different cable?
OK, I'll leave Android out of this - I just mentioned because it didn't help me narrow it down.
The PC makes the noise like I've connected a USB device as normal. Actually it does that twice, but that's quite common for a lot of devices. Then on the phone I get a popup window - the title bar says "Cannot Connect" and the message is "Error APN". I've tried different ports (even on a PCI-E card instead of onboard) and different cables. They shouldn't matter though as the only thing that changed was my provider.
I realise this this isn't a generic support forum though so I'm not looking for troubleshooting. I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this with a Rhod110 - there's a lot of minor differences in this version, as I discovered when trying to get Android running. Or maybe even someone with some deeper knowledge of the OS knows if the tethered internet connection does anything different to a 'normal' 3G connection.
Hrm, I'm CDMA... so I guess I'll bow out. I've never seen/heard of those error messages when trying to tether, but GSM is quite different than CDMA in terms of data connectivity. CDMA doesn't have APN's .
Decided to do a quick search...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=571832
See if that works.
Cheers for that pointing me to that thread - it was indeed just a registry entry hardcoded to Telstra.
Leaving it blank allows me to get a couple of error messages and then eventually select a connection from the list and from there I figured out it just used whatever the connection name is (user-defined). Set the registry entry to that and now it's working just as it always used to.
I wonder how many other functions Telstra has dug it's claws into?

[Q] Android only connects to Google.

I have a Samsung Duos in Brazil. My wireless was working fine at my home, til suddenly it would only connect to Google on wireless. Some websites would appear using data connection, but wireless, only Google searches. Clicking on a link would bring up a "could not locate remote server" page. I've reset the router and modem, even reset my phone to original settings, same problem. My phone shows that I'm connected to the Internet too. I've tried other hot spots and they work fine, so it doesn't seem to be a phone setting. I haven't changed any settings in the router or modem.

[Q] Wi Fi Connectivity

Hi all,
Lost info for my original account, so I made a new one.
Straight out of the box my HTC One has not been able to connect to my router. It gives me the message that it's avoiding a poor internet connection although under the connections it says the signal strength is excellent. My laptop connects just fine. My Razr HD connects just fine, but interestingly my wife's galaxy S3 will not connect either. It gives her the same message.
I've tried changing the bandwidth from auto to 2.4 to 5. I've tried forgetting the network. I've tried static internet connection with IP address 192.168.0.15 and also 10.0.0.11 I enabled the DLNA, there is no useable option to clear cache or clear data and last of all I did a factory reset.
None of these worked. DLNA and the static internet connection have allowed me to connect, but it's not really connected. I'm not sure what's happening. It says connected with excellent signal strength, but nothing connects. No internet, no netflix, no nothing.
I think it might be something to do with the router itself, but I don't think I'll be able to get any information from netgear's people. It's not broken (other devices connect just fine) but these newer smartphones seem to have a problem with it.
Neatgear N300. Also, I tried WPS connection as well. No Dice.
Thanks
Update-I've found a -similar- issue in this forum regarding specific bandwidth connectivity issues for dual band routers. One of the suggestions was to update the firmware. I haven't been able to do this successfully. Still trying.
Update 2-Tried to connect to Safeway WiFi today. No luck. It goes to the sign in page and it's just blank. At home it says the page is unavailable. At safeway it's just blank...
*bump* No help at all?

SM-T520 Wifi issue

Hi, I've tried all the troubleshooting steps on how to fix wifi connection but it seems there's no luck.
I've already change the firmware but still no connection.
The problem is, I can connect to a wifi but it has no connection. It will only "saved, secured" and that's all.
Anyone can help?
Same issue here.
I'm starting to think that the eletronics trash can is the solution...
My Samsung Galaxy T-520 detects all Wi-Fi networks, but it doesn't connect to any. The status shows "saved, secured", but it fails to connect. I tried everything, switching on/off passpoints, bluetooth and whatever, even factory resets (twice). I also tried to start the device without the Google account, skipping everything. I also tried a cell phone access point, it's all useless. All my other devices work, so it's not the router. Maybe it's a hardware problem. It suddenly stopped working
