My GNex thinks it's an iPhone (funny)! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So, I was flashing 4.2 onto my yakju GNex (wanted a fresh install rather than doing the OTA update), which all went well. Anyway, I was doing the initial phone setup, and got to the Wi-Fi configuration page. I chose to skip connecting to a network, and was quite surprised to see this message:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I know most of you probably don't know Swedish, but you should be able to see the hilarious mistake. Or is it a mistake? This doesn't happen if the phone is set to English, so maybe the Swedish menu translator has just been having a bit of fun.
But yeah, thought that was pretty funny and worth sharing.

What's it say? I see iPhone but what does it exactly say?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

All I got was "warning! Eventually operators for data traffic can......"
"configuration of iPhone can...."
I don't know Swedish, just sounding out the spelling.

It says:
"WARNING! Any carrier fees for data transfer may apply.
Configuration of the iPhone may require significant network activity."
You get the same message (although not worded exactly the same) if the phone is set to English, but without the "iPhone" in it.

"Any operator charges for data traffic may apply. Configuration of the iPhone may require significant network activity."
I like the text on the accept and decline buttons better. I don't speak Swedish but Google Translate does.

A few suggestion for Windows Phone 7 navigation

Since Microsoft first released Windows Phone 7, I convinced my self to "NOT BUY" the very first release because I know and I think most of us knows that a few months or weeks, an improved version will be available.. Well probably upgrading a ROM is the answer but anyway, my few suggestions to improve some navigations.
A like to suggest in horizontal panning effect which I think is a very nice and beautiful. But to improve the navigation, here are some my suggestion.

"lightbox_next": "Next",

Ok. So another one would be, in Application List navigation.
also posted in my blog site
http://jaysonragasa.net/post/A-few-suggestion-for-Windows-Phone-7.aspx
To be honest, those are nice concepts. I can easily see the Application list getting changed to allow grid support. Can't say much about the other.
FYI Windows Phone 7 is going to be very easy to update. It has a real updater unlike Windows Mobile. You wont have to flash a rom and wipe out all your apps and settings to get OS updates anymore. At least thats what Microsoft is claiming.

the question is, will it be "free" ? which I don't believe it will.
and if not .. well most of us I think will still swim around this kind of site for free upgrade, patched ROMs that we will still injecting in our phone's vains
EDIT:
-- ok, so hopefully it will be free like Windows OS
another suggestion would be
Bing search results.
Will it be nice to search inside your phone too such as Contacts, Applications, Calendar, and files? here's the preview.

Baidu Browser - no you don't have to read Chinese

I do realize that most of you don't read Chinese, but Baidu has just release its new browser shell for Windows Phone - "Baidu Browser".
I do find loading pages incredibly quick due to server side rendering. More importantly, however is its interface. The browser has a Speed Dial for a home page which makes accessing certain pages frequently a breeze and the much needed back and fourth buttons make navigation that much easier. It also support up to 12 tabs and orientation lock which are nice bonuses.
And no, I am NOT the developer so DON'T sent me feature requests.

Very cool looking browser
Sent from my LG 2X using xda premium app. Sorry 4 bad English :/
Ok, but is it available for outside China?
What about UI language?
Read a news a couple days ago that this china search engine doesn't follow fair and serious business principles and offer fraudulent search results. It's not worth trusting. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2157891/cctv_baidu_help_fake_drugs_running_rampant/

If this has server side rendering, we can't really consider it a browser shell, can we?

I am in the US, so yes, it's available outside of China.
the browser can use in outside of china ,but it fit chinese . i hope it have english version
This looks fantastic.
edit: tested it out - due to everything being Chinese I can't get into the options and change anything (like turning it into English). And it appears that it is portrait locked by default. Other than that, rendering seemed slower than having the phone do it, and scrolling was choppy.
Hopefully someone can give us a guide to making this English before I pass final judgement on it.

Since when was Google Wallet not supported on rooted devices?

Welcome to the forums! Have a look around, try out the search button.
As WiredPirate mentioned, this has been discussed a few times.
The good news is that it's more of a "not officially condoned" as opposed to a "not going to work" type of support. Continue to use Wallet to your heart's content, just understand that there are certain risks on a rooted device - and Google won't be responsible if you run into problems.
Yea I can confirm that it still works. I only saw that message once... then never again. It just means that if you run a Rooted rom, you won't get support if something goes wrong or your money becomes missing.

This is not true. I spoke with Google CS about this and the man I spoke with assured me that the message meant if the app doesnt function in the way it should, ie. not transfering data via NFC or pressing a button doesnt work, that Google is not responsible to help you troubleshoot it. Not that you cannot cancel your card or retrieve your funds if you loose your phone. The phrase he used repetitively was "Your money is still your money", if for some reason your cash 'disappears' just call and they will straighten it out. But if the app is not transmitting or if it is spazzing out, do not expect them to help you troubleshoot it and get it working properly again, which I imagine they would initially try to do anyways or atleast give you suggestions on things to try but would eventually say "we are not responsible" if you are taking up too much of their time.
I hadn't planned on replying to this question since it has been covered several times but I had to clear up the misinformation.
Today was just the first time I ever noticed this warning in the app like that. I've been rooted forever, but I thought it might have been due to a recent update (and no topics showed up in the little "topic title search" thing).
Been like this for weeks. Its effectively a "user beware" notice.

Check this out!

I had a weird thing happen with my signal today. It kept going out, and data just wouldn't work! Although the 3G icon was there nothing would download. Here is a pic of the connection status! Look at the mobile network type!

i had this happen to me for like two weeks on and off. After a while it would do this to me while the bars were blue! I tried toggling my data on and off, toggling airplane on and off, rebooting and even calling sprint to have them restart my data. This even followed me from rom to rom. The only way I got rid of it was to download the complete FH05 jellybean tar and odin back to stock jelly bean. I tried to odin to FD02 and except the ota but it followed me there too. Its wierd, and it started after I flashed a certain rom(wont name it cuz i cant be sure it had anything to do with it) and then the rom gave me some probs I wiped and restored my nandroid of cm10 I had before I flashed the mystery rom and thats when it started. And cm10 was working awesome for like three weeks before the mystery rom flash. I mean problems dont just pop up, theyre either there or theyre not.
Well I ended up calling Sprint today to find out what the problem was and they told me it was due to some tower being worked on! Maybe it has to do with the LTE?
I've had that happen to me a couple of times. Mainly its when I had it set to run on GSM/Edge/LTE/HSPA+ mode.
Its just due to the way your phone finds the best tower. It shouldn't hurt your phone, or affect your data in any way. Just switch your roaming profile to home only. It should fix it.
And to the Photoshop guy...
Are you that stupid? Seriously, use your mind. It doesn't look photoshopped. Even if it was, it would be a decent work.

[Q] Phone has been hacked , bluetooth.. How do I Stop it?

Hello:
My galaxy nexus has been rooted I think and the person who enters my network use an apple device to block the signal.
It seems that someone has been able to root the phone. I would Luke to know if there is a way to with block the hacker or some other defensive method.
Regards,
*Mike
I don't really understand the problem as you've described it, but just wipe and reflash.
I have no idea what you just said...

If u didn't root your phone and you bought it new then it isn't rooted. If somebody is gaining access to your network make sure the encryption is set to wpa2. Never use wep or u might as well not use any encryption as anyone that knows anything will crack it in under 10 min.

make yourself a hat out of tin foil, then another matching tin foil hat for your device. that should prevent any alien apple users from gaining access to you or your device.
I don't see why users have the urge to make fun of the person or the topic, it may not be important to you but it sure is to the guy asking.
There are firewall software available in the market that you can try out.
There are security apps too, search and you should see a list.
Also factory reset the phone and see what happens and as already said, set your home Wi-Fi to wpa2
Cheers
