Since Microsoft first released Windows Phone 7, I convinced my self to "NOT BUY" the very first release because I know and I think most of us knows that a few months or weeks, an improved version will be available.. Well probably upgrading a ROM is the answer but anyway, my few suggestions to improve some navigations.
A like to suggest in horizontal panning effect which I think is a very nice and beautiful. But to improve the navigation, here are some my suggestion.

Ok. So another one would be, in Application List navigation.

To be honest, those are nice concepts. I can easily see the Application list getting changed to allow grid support. Can't say much about the other.
FYI Windows Phone 7 is going to be very easy to update. It has a real updater unlike Windows Mobile. You wont have to flash a rom and wipe out all your apps and settings to get OS updates anymore. At least thats what Microsoft is claiming.

the question is, will it be "free" ? which I don't believe it will.
and if not .. well most of us I think will still swim around this kind of site for free upgrade, patched ROMs that we will still injecting in our phone's vains
EDIT:
-- ok, so hopefully it will be free like Windows OS
another suggestion would be
Bing search results.
Will it be nice to search inside your phone too such as Contacts, Applications, Calendar, and files? here's the preview.

Hi all...
I've been developing bits and pieces of stuff on my phone for my own use and I thought I'd share this with you. Unfortunately it's only useful for people who live in Sydney as it relies on 131500.com.au (locals will know what I'm talking about). Although that service has its own "Mobile" version webpage, I find it very inefficient to type in addresses and not have it remember my last selection - especially since I'm usually already in a hurry if I ever find myself needing to check the timetables.
It's a tiny (but multi-threaded for uber-fast interface) program (30kbs) that remembers your last To/From train stations and will directly fetch the timetable for trains in the next hour in a WebBrowser control. And a single-button (reverse) that gives you the same timetable for the other direction on your way home.
Note: uses internet data! - but only a single page. Probably 1kb or so each time?
Limitations (as by the 131500 mobile service): unable to directly give timetable for connecting trains. ie: both stations must be on the same line
Requires: .NET Compact Framework
Compatible with QVGA/VGA/WVGA devices. But I'm posting under blackstone forum because that's the phone I use
Freeware - and all comments/suggestions etc welcomed. Many thanks!
P.S. At uni now.. so i've only included a crude screenshot. I'll post a proper one if i get a fair bit of interest in this. thanks
hey mate do you think it would be possible to do up a brisbane one?
If there's a website that allows you to look up the brisbane timetables I don't see why not. alternatively if you can source a soft copy of the timetable?
www.qr.com.au
are you able to grab it from there?
Very useful, thanks!

I've just sent an email to QR. Will see what they say first..
It's good but don't like the fact it connects to the net to get the info.
If you look at timetables, they are mostly always the same, so you can get the info currently right now and make an offline version in which the times are accessible whenever and whenever there might be a new timetable, such as the new Chatswood lines, there could be an update button just to get the new times.
Other than that, good start but definitely needs an offline version.
Hello dudes and dudettes Happy New Year to all!!!

Cheers, and have a happy new year!!!

DAMN THAT WAS HELPFUL....thnx a lot now next time save it for urself...now honestly if one feel a newbie here is askin a question not worth an answer then....DON'T....but this attitude isn't productive
to avoid any more flamewars.... does anybody know of such a well made, easy to use app?
Have you tried this one?
Times Professional 1.5
http://www.mobiletopsoft.com/pocket-pc/download-times-professional-1-5.html Its an ugly interface, its not free, but there is a trial and it claims to be pretty functional. Includes synching ability with other PDAs.
Yeah, that was one that I looked at, but still, I'll be looking at this multiple times per day, I kinda wanted this to be a bit more pretty I'm a graphic designer, and tables and tree-views and drop-downs just don't do it for me. Maybe such an app isnt at all available for a WM device but still, I have some hope that someone has stumbled upon something like this
http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/18/registry-hack-allows-for-direct-loading-of-media-on-windows-phon/
it works on my trophy
won't make much use of it tho.
Not atm anyway
this works for me too. nice.
Hmmm I will move this to general.

Prefer to load media onto your Windows Phone 7 device the old fashioned way? Then it looks like your solution is just a simple Windows registry hack away. Coming shortly after the USB tethering hack, the folks at Mobile Tech World have now discovered that you can effectively turn your Windows Phone into a USB drive by modifying just three entries in the registry of your Windows desktop PC. Once done, you'll be able to drag and drop files to your heart's content -- albeit only on a computer that's had the registry hack done, of course. Hit up the source link below for the complete details.

Excellent news.
But what does the file structure look like? Does this break out of the isolated storage restrictions in any way?
I.e. can you create files in a general area accessible by multiple apps?
I'm thinking no, but we are now only one step away from Windows Phone 7 firmware becoming an actual operating system.
I'm looking to build an flashlight app with the LED flash. I know this has been done before, but I'm planning on making the most basic, Metro-style app possible, with really well fitting icon and interface. All the other apps out there that do this are ugly or have ugly interfaces. I'm planning on putting it out for free on here, and if Microsoft accepts it, on the Marketplace.
Only problem is, I'm not sure how to active the LED flash. According to this post, it's something to do with this:
Code:
ID_CAP_CAMERA
. So how do I use that to activate the flash? Having trouble figuring it out.
Thanks.
Please post in correct section.
Firstly this is a question
Second, its about software development.
Moved to WP7 Software Development
I know it is in the undocumented Mango APIs somewhere under System.Reflection. Somehow you capture video without really saving it (with the flash setting on).
Anyone have any more insight into this? I dont really care for any on the market they all have too much "extra" crap or terrible looking icons so I just figure I'll make what I want myself but I too need to know how to get the constant on LED. Anyone care to help?

It was discussed here a long time ago (should be in archives, available with forum search) but also take a look to the Dave's article and app http://www.daveamenta.com/2011-01/led-flashlight-for-windows-phone-7/
So, the key points are:
- you should delete recorded videos by yourself;
- to bypass marketplace validation, you should use Microsoft.Phone.Media.Extended assembly with dynamical load and dynamic function references.

We all know that the author confirmed that Metrotube is out of Marketplace for a long time ago. But surprise today, when i was reinstalling apps for my Eternity through "Reinstaller" , i saw MetroTube in the list. I chose it, and the phone was able to pull out the Marketplace Site for MetroTube, i reinstalled it through Marketplace just fine! ( I bought it before)
I tried to search for it on Marketplace , but it came up with nothing. So look like MetroTube is not completely pulled off Marketplace Database, but in "hidden" mode.
So for whoever have purchased MetroTube and you want to have it once more time on the app list, you can go and download the "Reinstaller" app from Marketplace (Free) and then choose MetroTube on the list. Or you can try this link:
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/8d93224f-2808-e011-9264-00237de2db9e
So, people might not know, but MetroTube was an excellent YouTube app. Just a trick for people who bought this app. (New Users can try to purchase it, i don't guarantee anything)
You can also email Lazyworm at [email protected]
They've been maintaining the app in the Marketplace (hidden from search and such) for a while now; anyone who purchased it can receive a Marketplace link if you provide your Live ID.
i should be mentioned that the MetroTube you download now is flagged as beta and will expire after 30 days of time. They're trying to find aways to avoid this, but up to now that's the way it is. If you happen to run into such expiration issues, just mail the guys again with your live ID and you'll get a new - working - link.
