Heyho,
I'm searchin for a Jelly Bean 4.2 Rom which runs mostly stable and got a nice "support". Anyone got one or used to try one? If yes, a little review would be nice.

Just wanted to ask, maybe someone got one or tried one.
Pop Corn..
Mate, hi, till now there is no 4.2 android, well you have a buggy one. Right now, HTC is working fixing JB 4.1 bugs in the ota, so it would be impossible to find Sense htc 4.1....but... You only salvation is that you port Android 4.2 from LG nexus so we can use it. I bet on YOU bro. I know you can.
SkyDragon Sense Rom V1
CyanogenMod just made a bunch of announcements regarding 4.2 overnight.
Work is well underway.
For now you can install the 4.2 GAPPS package to enjoy the new widgets and apps. Camera is buggy though.

I recently updated my wife's Desire HD with an AOSP ROM. I hadn't realised just how good Android has become without any manufacturer customisation. After playing around with the ROM for a while I was disappointed to go back to Sense on my One X. The default Google UI just feels very modern and consistent. Sense feels outdated.
I've looked around for the current best AOSP ROM for the One X, or an HTC based ROM with most Sense stuff removed. After looking at several I'm only more confused, all have pros and cons.
So, advice welcomed, what's good for an AOSP style experience right now? (A working camera is essential)
U can use ViperX ROM with apex launcher and geenyous aosp theme, the ROM is super fast, looks like aosp and has got the HTC camera app.
U can alternatively use cm9 or if u want jelly bean, then use cm10 by tbalden.
Sent from my ViperX HTC OneX
I'd suggest domination rom by owain if customization is your thing, or tgascoigne's aosp jelly been port if you like stable, streamlined, stock android, no tweaks.
All roms on the forum have a working camera and almost no bugs thanks to the awesome devs we have working on the HOX.

To everyone saying 'camera is essential' - if it's essential you'll have a proper camera. To rely on a phone is just silly
I find Trips roms are always fantastic. This is his Jelly Bean rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784185, I believe the camera might not be working in the current version, however, a camera app off the market should work fine instead.
Thank for the advice guys, I'll look into those ROMs

I'm a really keen amateur photographer and carry my Canon 60D, G12 or Ixus with me a lot. Carrying one of them at all times isn't feasible though.
There are plenty of times when you don't expect to be taking photos but the opportunity arises. Finally having a respectable camera on a phone (such as the HOX) makes sure you don't lose the moment. It's also nice to be able take photos and email them on the spot.

How so? I thought the sense camera required the sense framework

I don't recommend a JB rom atm if camera is necessary. There are crashes and sometimes the pics taken are gibberish. I had to use my camera to take photos of some documents(no scanner nearby ) and got annoyed with the above problem.
ICS 4.1 roms are best.
Give Ice Cold Jelly a try. Camera is working fine for me. Is it sense camera you want to keep, or just need a working camera?

Because MIUI build their ROM on-top of official releases from the different manufacturers.
For Sense ROM go to viperX or ARHD .. for AOSP go to Domination

Any camera will do. Ice Cold Jelly looks good, will give it a try at the weekend.
There is no such thing as best ROM every ROM is good in it's own aspect. Because of these comparison we lot a great Kernel developer.

Poor Trip is the victim of failure to read. The boot.img and modules (kernel) in his CM10 ROM has everything working fine. He has a 3.x kernel which is not 100% yet. For some reason people keep posting the same kernel bugs that are already known in his ROM thread.
The ROM is fine and I am using the 009 kernel and it's perfect.
I highly recommend cm10 endeavor unleashed by trip raver (tripndroid mobile engineering) fast, smooth and solid reliability.
I didn't think I'd root my One X but I too just got bored with sense. I have a comprehensive understanding of branding principles but I think HTC take the concept too far with every phone for about 4 years having only slight changes in UI. When I buy a new phone I want it to feel new when I use it. Time to drop Sense and come up with something new.

I stand corrected
Im kinda surprised there isnt at least any alpha 4.2 ROMs out there for Desire Z.
Anything stopping this?
FORGET IT: I just saw the first devices are out on 13; Lets hope the source code is out soon....
HTC is stopping it
I'm also waiting for JB with Sense..
Well there is Flinny's build of CM10 jelly bean. HTC are stopping pretty much any more releases. When flinny's version is realeased stable, lot's more roms will appear.

Hi all,
I hope the developers read this also.
I dont get it, there are so manny different roms here, why are those people not working together for one stable rom?
I abused my Phone the last weeks with alot of roms found in development but all had issues, the issues dint resolve but the developer is paying attention to other version of android.?
Dont see this as a big flame to all of you,, i really love the fact that people put time in a old Phone like mine and make a nice rom for it.
But still... why so manny different roms? i see dev's having 3 threads with 3 different roms and there all apha beta, but no stables?
Is it a who's got the biggest brain idea here? or do i see it complete wrong?
Because 4.1.2 isnt stable but all the time goes in 4.2? then why even bother to make 4.1.2 if its Always stays in apha...
isnt that just a waste of time? isnt it alot better if the dev's working as 1 team?
My question is:
What rom is 4.1.2 or 4.04 and stable?
For now i'm using nikez lente 3.1P1 ? (the latest for 4.1.2) with nightly
but its crashing to much
But i really would like to see a stable 4.04 / 4.1.2 because it looks great!
Again dont see the evil in this post, its really something i just dont get and like to know why...
And yes big typing mistakes sorry

There are no stable ICS or JB ROMs for the Desire. Period.
And in all probability there won't be one too because our phone hardware just doesn't support these newer versions.
There are many stable and fully functioning GB ROMs.

They are stable. You just cannot call anybody from time to time and sometimes you get black screen and you cannot receive sms and camera does not work. And sometimes the phone hangs on incoming calls....
But apart from all that, they are very stable...

just my point. When i look @ cynagogen site or evervolv you see alot of work in custom roms, but none are stable as in works like you buy it from the shop.
Ofcourse Custom roms need alot of developing, bugs are easy to make, but i just dont get it why you make alot of time en effort into a rom like 4.1.2 and then suddenly you drop it and lets do 4.2 now...
The saddest part is that alot of you people donate a bit monny for the time they put into the rom but then at the end you got a bug Phone and a new rom 4.2 thats crashes 90% of your time... oo yes cool 4.2 lets donate spend time on it until where alpha / beta en then we spend time for android 5!
i just dont get that...
I dont like gingerbread or 2.1 2.2 2.3 etc i want 4.0.4 or 4.1 / 4.1.2 specialy the last on from nikez lente works for a alpha pretty good so you should think where almost there but then you can read where spending or time in 4.2... pffff
Well maybe its just me but i never seen this way of working before.
I dont have the monny to buy me a 4.1 android Phone. So i would like to have a stable rom and wanna put time it in but why not all the developers at the same time. i really think you can get a good rom in 1 month then.

Sandvold's ICS was very stable when I used to use it. Some odd FC were an issue but it was so rare that it never bothered me. Maybe give that a try even though it hasn't been updated for a while, it's still ICS on a Desire.

just my point also, readed the 1600X pages and there still bugs in there that I think is alpha instead of beta..
installed the The fastest/stable CM10 VJ Jelly Bean 4.1.2 v2.9.1
works great... will see after some weeks, but lots of updates thats how i like to see it.
AOKP V2.2 is pretty stable .
i have it for 2 months now
Just curious...what does ICS or JB so great on Desire when for example MildWinds 2.3.7 based ROM (5.7) is working flawless and it is stable?

What you need to understand is that developers are trying to bring the latest and the greatest of Android to Desire. Stable GB updates for Desire were released when even HTC had given up on official GB update.
To use ICS or JB on Desire, you need to accept that it will never be as fast a SIII or OneX simply due to hardware limitations. Still there are ICS & JB ROMs available stable enough to be used on a daily basis quite comfortably. Multiple devs working on the same problem is not the solution.
If you can't upgrade to a JB phone, install a good JB ROM like Vijendra's CM10 JB and enjoy the new features with occasional restarts. But if photo and video recording is important to you even with the poor old 5 MP camera on our Desire, stick to GB.
I like vijndra's cm10 JB - rom based in evervolv. It is fast and very stable.

@Tim
You've got it totally wrong. The devs here aren't miracle workers. They just slightly edit from the resources they gain, to make it their own.
Just because a rom is titled alpha, doesn't mean it in no way can be a finalized rom.
If the resource from start isn't even beta, don't think the devs are god and can change this. You should adjust your expectations.
However I get you're frustrations about donating.

Well i sent an email to them wondering if they would give me any info on 4.3. And this is the reply i got back. Is certainly not the negative one i was expecting, but doesn't quite confirm it either. Here it is:
Dear Daniel,
I am afraid HTC is not planning to release 4.3 update for HTC ONE X yet, 4.3 update is just for HTC ONE and HTC ONE MAX at the time being. However, we testing the new update for HTC ONE X, if phone will keep the excellent performance with 4.3 version HTC will release it to all HTC ONE X users.
Let me know if I have successfully answered your question, please click here to complete this.

Why you would 4.3? 4.4 is already out
Yes of course that is true But i would have 4.3 over 4.2 any day of the week 4.4 would be a nice bonus, as it does seem that Google have made it more lightweight, while adding to it at the same time

And 4.3 doesn't even differ that much from 4.2.2. A lot of the features HTC One's users got in the Sense 5.5 update, we already have in Sense 5.
It won't surprise me if 4.2.2 is the last update we'll have from HTC, but it'd still be awesome if one day we'll have an official Android 4.4 release
The only problem is that that release will have Sense as well and I prefer AOSP to Sense actually. I think the visual changes Google has made in Android 4.4 won't really be seen in Android 4.4 with Sense on top of it and we'll only have the performance improvements.
I hav heard that 4.3 fixes a few bugs with the Tegra 3 CPU (I personally have found no bugs) Has a few neat things like customizing quick settings, performance improvements, battery ect. An improvement is an improvement.
Pretty sure customizing quick settings is a custom ROM feature, not AOSP.
not the 4.3 update...it's the kernel wich fixes that...and with 4.3 we will get more performance...games would run better...overall speed would be even more and battery life would be also better...but we will see...hope we will also get 4.4...because 4.4 would run even more better then 4.3 because better optimizing for "older" phones
Quick settings customising is an official 4.3 feature which i believe is on the One's and Max's update too
After breaking another Android 2.3.4 phone I rooted and downgraded my G2, hoping to put a modern version of Android on it since 2.x seemed to have so many incompatibilities. Now what?
I am really not a modder or even a phone power user. I just want a smartphone that works as expected, where someone can say something like, "You should get Google Now!" and I can get it.
As best I can tell reading these forums it sounds like some version of 4.x is the way to go, but I can't figure out which is the most stable, simple, and compatible ROM of that generation, and what else I will need to install to have a relatively modern smartphone experience.
(I also apologize that my search-fu is so weak. I tried. If you point me to the right thread I will go gratefully and quietly )
Try an andromadus jelly bean, sounds like the closet thing to what you're after. A list of ROMs and other info can be found here

GB ofc as Froyo is so old, KK is laggy (with my usage) and all older devices I used worked better on KK than any other 4.X, so if KK is laggy, other would probably by laggier...

Hi, just to help. As I broke my screen, I had to revert back to the Z...
I just tested some roms and for the one still available tested, the best for me is AlterNdromadus and it's far beyond the others.
Edit : and Jelly Baby just gave me a bootloop...
All ported Sense versions were too heavy for the Z from what I remember.

But am now on CM7 and it works fine I miss the lockscreen and FN/Shift notification icons, but can survive without them.
