Hey I have a spriont evo 4g rooted with a CR and Modsmurf installed. How do I go about switching my phone from sprint(whicih I own and no longer have a contract with) to work on the Boost service? If anyone knows of a good guide or knows them self that what be much appreciated. Thanks.

2 more things..you don't need to call boost for your msl..just search the playstore for "get my msl". It's what I used. Next in the future just use the search bar up top. This place has just about everything about everything already answered.

The only thing i have ever successfully did with my epic 4g was 1 click root it. I have no idea how to do anything and i really want to learn but i dont know where to start, From what i've read around, Rom is like an Operating system? like vista xp win 7?
If someone could point me in the right direction i'd greatly appreciate it. I really want to get nice themes and learn more about my phone. I don't want to just be a basic epic 4g user with a basic epic 4g phone.
also, any ideas on when 2.3 gingerbread is coming out?

oh i know he has but i like to understand what i am doing and how to undo it, how to get back to stock, how to root, how to install a rom and uninstall it, what rom really is how it works, all that, i dont like playing with toys without knowing whats what. lol

I seen threads on Guide to rooting, then there is "how to fix a semi-bricked Epic" and there are guides to themeing in the Theme Forum. Just poke around, read those threads, start fiddling, and if you get stuck on something just ask. PM me if you like. Lots of knowledgeable people here that love to help.

Has anyone been able to get google talk with video chat working?
This is for my girlfriends phone so we can video chat (i have a sensation). I have tried all the methods in this thread and also tried paul o brien's (modaco) gtalk 1.3 installer app from the market but they all result in force closes.
So im hoping someone has had success and can point me in the right direction.

i havn't tried gtalk but if video calling over the internet is just what you want then i suggest you use skype. Its working fine on this fone.

Yeah i have tried Vtok but it is not much good. It hasnt been updated for 9 months and it doesnt work very well. Skype is what we are using at the minute but it doesnt have the ease of use that gtalk has.
Im sure samsung will provide an update for this........ eventually

I've tried gtalk 1.3 with audio/video chat. It doesn't work!! Webcam works, switch webcams works, the user hears my voice but I don't hear his voice. When I close chat I have to reboot the smartphone because audio doesn't work!!!

Its just my personal opinion really. i think skype running in the background all the time chomping battery and data when we already have google talk installed and i just think the google talk app is small and neat... Especially on ICS on my sensation
Hopefully a dev might look into this when they make roms for this phone.
Hello, I have a situation with my new Epic touch from boost, I decided to root it with out realizing that the root that is offered is for the sprint D710 and it work great execep that now the original boost mobile room is gone as well as the original applications that came with it, basicly I converted my boost phone into a sprint. I would like to restore it the its original state how can I flash the original software (boost id's, and other boost info) to the phone. Please some one help!

I was wondering if this would work on a flashed sprint phone? Would it delete the flash info??? My son has the Sprint epic touch flashed to boost.

Im also wondering this. I have an epic 4g touch from sprint and wanted to flash to boost. Would the boost rom with the flash work identical as to the boost version of the phone? I installed the boost rom and everything says boost on my sprint phone. I'm wondering if even voicemail, etc will work once the flash is complete? Someone please answer this as I cannot seem to find the answer to this anywhere and can't post in the development threads either.

Your flash info should stay, cause you are not programing the phone just installing a different OS.

I dont see why not, everything should work since it is boost software on a flash boost phone.
The only reason you dont see many roms off of boost leaks is cause you lose roaming setting of course, cause you dont roam on boost, also no demand for custom boost roms and most dev only deal with sprint roms which can be flashed to boost phones since there is more flexibility with more cust roms.

Well, I just installed this rom to my son's sprint phone and there were no problems but it did not fix the mms problem nor the voicemail issue.
I was really hoping it did.
But everything else seem to work fine even the boostZone and the mobile id works fine. I guess we will have to wait until some one feels sorry for us and comes up with a solution to the voicemail and the mms issue running on ICS. But if you downgrade your phone to gingerbread the mms works.

sorry to hear that the voicemail did not work you would of thought it would of since it is boost on boost, for the mms issue check to make sure your "mmsc=http://mm.myboostmobile.com" and "APN=Boost_Mobile" .....etc did not change.
here is some good info on the setting its from the evo thread but the setting will be the same for us.... ICS is alittle tricky on settings for mms vice gingerbread which is much easier.

well from Sirenita voicemail still will not work which is a bummer if your mms stops working check out the link i left in Sirenita post dealing with mms setting on ICS it could of changed so check that first.
So I have been on stock for awhile now, and I have been wanting to go to another touchwiz ROM, but don't wanna lose my music playlist I have setup. Are there any apps that could back this up or so I can not lose my playlist?

On a side note, I may have gotten my sound/apk issue taken care of for my rom. I talked to kennyglass and he told me to talk to Naddict. I will try his solution in the morning when I get to my laptop. He has a feeling my ogg files were getting compressed and that's what the problem has been. Hopefully that's it.

im going to buy an unlocked s6 edge from tmobile, and i want to know if i will be able to use the hotspot if im using another carrier like att or claro? or if not, is there any mod to make it work if i root it? thanks
You will need to root it and freeze or mod the tethering providing application. That checks with T-Mobile if you are allowed to tether and when you aren't on T-Mobile it doesn't know and blocks the service.

Or that is what I have heard. I have seen many people trying the AT&T version on t-mobile and ran into the same problem.
