Im also wondering this. I have an epic 4g touch from sprint and wanted to flash to boost. Would the boost rom with the flash work identical as to the boost version of the phone? I installed the boost rom and everything says boost on my sprint phone. I'm wondering if even voicemail, etc will work once the flash is complete? Someone please answer this as I cannot seem to find the answer to this anywhere and can't post in the development threads either.

Your flash info should stay, cause you are not programing the phone just installing a different OS.

I dont see why not, everything should work since it is boost software on a flash boost phone.
The only reason you dont see many roms off of boost leaks is cause you lose roaming setting of course, cause you dont roam on boost, also no demand for custom boost roms and most dev only deal with sprint roms which can be flashed to boost phones since there is more flexibility with more cust roms.

Well, I just installed this rom to my son's sprint phone and there were no problems but it did not fix the mms problem nor the voicemail issue.
I was really hoping it did.
But everything else seem to work fine even the boostZone and the mobile id works fine. I guess we will have to wait until some one feels sorry for us and comes up with a solution to the voicemail and the mms issue running on ICS. But if you downgrade your phone to gingerbread the mms works.

sorry to hear that the voicemail did not work you would of thought it would of since it is boost on boost, for the mms issue check to make sure your "mmsc=http://mm.myboostmobile.com" and "APN=Boost_Mobile" .....etc did not change.
here is some good info on the setting its from the evo thread but the setting will be the same for us.... ICS is alittle tricky on settings for mms vice gingerbread which is much easier.

hi guys can anyone please try to make a rom for metropcs that will have everything working like internet/ picturemail just after flashing the rom and updating the APN ????
i am willing to donate to whoever willing to help making this happen
thank you guys
You don't need a rom,. And all of the information about the carrier and device is not inside the roms. You should probably take a look at other threads about changing the phones carrier.

Not sure what you did to get all the force closes. I followed the directions in the OP and have never once had an issue.
All of this is from the MIUI thread. You should check there for any questions that you have in the future...

The signal bars for AOSP is your data speed (ex 3G) and not your voice signal strength. Sense ROMs, like MikFroyo are showing you voice signal and that is why it seems stronger than an AOSP ROM.

From all that I have read, you have to go back to a Sense based ROM to update your PRL. Then you can go back to an AOSP based ROM.

Miui does not support wimax yet,
To update PRL you have to flash sense, or use CDMA workshop, don't bother, because by your post I'll assume that's much too complicated,
And please post in the correct forum next time.
You can flash the zip on aosp but if u want to do it through the settings menu then you have to use a sense Rom.

This has been answered so many times... the bars its showing are the real 3g... sense shows you 1x even though its labeled 3g. A rom can't change the reception you get....
no 4g no matter what.
Have to use a sense rom to update prl.
Why wouldnt you post this in the miui thread?....
I always keep a sense based rom on my SD card whenever I want to flash quickly to update profile, prl, or use and # commands. That's the best way and then nandroid back to your previous rom.
Post in the right section tho next time because people will flame about this lol

I just ordered an Epic 4G Touch from Credo Mobile which should arrive next week. They use the Sprint network and I believe the phone comes from Credo with all of the Sprint apps and bloat. I will want to root soon after I activate it and would like to know the best method to root it and recommended ROM. While i am not a total noob to rooting I would probably need an easy fairly foolproof method (I rooted a Verizon Samsung Fascinate and have installed a lot of different ROMs on it).
One thing people really hate here is when new threads are posted with questions that could easily be answered by doing a simple search. I am not one of those people, just giving you the heads up.
Check the stickies in the dev section, the autoroot is awesome and completely fool proof. I've used it 6 times now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1284
MetalHead,
thanks for posting the link to the stickies. However, there are many, many pages of stickies and I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say "autoroot". Can you please be more specific as to what root method you used? Are you referring to the (Zedomax) (ACS) thread? I have not read all 40 pages, but it seems that people are having some issues with this method.
Please help shed some light on which method you used.
thanks,
Neil
I got my phone last night and used the method in this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728
Seems to work great. Now I have to figure out which ROM I want to use or leave it the way it is.
mobile hotspot
I'm assuming that if you root you can get mobile hotspot to work even though Credo says they don't 'support it'. Correct?

The stickies are just the first group of threads in a section, they are permanently at the top of the list and are designated by a pin to show that they are "pinned" to the top of the page. The auto root is the first thread there. It is perfectly safe, and very easy. All it is is a simple program you run on your windows machine that roots your phone for you. As I stated before I have used it numerous times without any problems at all. Here is the direct link to that thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728

The unlocked mobile hotspot as of now requires a custom deodexed ROM to work but you can use Wireless Tether for Root Users for wifi tethering. The downside to that is you can only create an ad hoc network but the upside is it works with 4G whereas the mobile hotspot does not. Here's the link- http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/

Hey Itzbob,
I'm about to do the exact same thing - ordered my Galaxy S II epic 4g touch from credo and will get in the next few days, adn thought i'd do some research to see if anyone's done this before - I got the links for the rooting (thanks _MetalHead_), and that seems easy enough. now that it's beedn about a week since you put the new ROM, do you like it? fast? battery life, etc? also, and this is a total Noob question - did you have to do anything with APN settings and the like to get it to work? I come from the iPhone jeailbreaking/unlocking world, and this will be my first root/ and flashing ROM. since I'm gettinga new phone, i'd love to just do this right away, instead of using it, and then wiping off stuff when i flash it.
any advice appreciated!
Sorry for the delayed reply I've been on vacation. As for questions... Battery life is just ok but I am a heavy user. Rooting only without the custom ROM gave me excellent battery life. So far I have also had 2 complete crashes with Calks ROM so make sure you have titanium backup. I wish I knew what caused the crashes, seems like a few apps don't play nice but I haven't been able to pinpoint which ones.
It is fast! Gps, 4G, everything seems to work great.

First of all, thank you so much for your posts, they have been extremely helpful to me so far!
My main question for you is: are there no extra procedures or APN settings or anything at all for a Credo Mobile Galaxy S 2 vs a Sprint S 2?
And in regards to your Credo S 2 --If not, can I just run sfhub's One-Click ODIN with the stock EL13 Modem, Kernel, and ROM for the E4GT (rooted), then do option c3 with Auto Root to get CWM, to allow changing to Calkulin's E4GT v2.5.1a ROM and it's kernel, while keeping the stock EL13 Modem? Can you run the 2.6 ROM as well as the 2.5.1a ROM? Any reason not to run the newer one?
Also can you return you phone to returnable stock from it's current state?
Thanks for any help you can provide! What you guys are doing in this thread is like the only source for Credo S 2 info that I am aware of.
[Mod/Fix]THE AT&T LTE Fix ver2.0 AT&T LTE, SMS, MMS Flashable Solution (4/2/13)
I guess I'll post the AT&T LTE Fix that I created a while back in its own thread since it has been very useful for everyone. I had originally posted in the Synergy and GalaxyMod threads to solve the AT&T LTE problems users were having with the Multi-Carrier ROMS. But it appears that more dev's are utilizing the Multi-Carrier format, so I'm sure this will be useful for many additional users.
I have updated the original zip I created to include the most recent files for even better LTE performance and a dedicated AT&T LTE APN. I also added the GPS config file that should help those that are having slow GPS locks.
THE AT&T LTE Fix version 2.0 (4/2/13)
As always, flash at your own risk. I'm not responsible, in any way, for what you flash, copy, fiddle with, poke, molest or otherwise screw with on your phone....
***THIS IS FOR USA AT&T SGH-I747 GALAXY S III USERS ONLY***
I highly recommend flashing this after a fresh install of a ROM or at least Factory Reset and Wipe Cache/Davik on an existing ROM
BACKUP YOUR ROM AND DATA BEFORE FLASHING!
Instructions:
1 - Reboot into recovery
2 - Make a backup/nandroid
3 - Factory Reset/Wipe Cache/Davik
4 - Flash AT&T LTE Fix ver2.0 zip file you just downloaded
5 - Reboot and enjoy.
Download Flashable Zip Here:http://www.mediafire.com/?85ir1gd2h3c7t6f
This fix may be regional based and not work for everyone. If you have LTE/Phone/SMS/MMS problems on stock based ROM's, then this will not help you - that is an AT&T issue in your area.
Once again, THANK THE DEVELOPERS OF THE ROM's! They were the masterminds that allowed us to enjoy some incredible ROM's on our devices. This is just a fix for AT&T users that are in LTE zones - allowing the Inbound/Outbound Phone Calls, SMS, MMS and blazing LTE data to work.
One thing...... I've noticed a few users upload my previous zip (ver 1.0) to their dropbox or other file sharing sites and claim it as their own....this is shady..... don't be a leach...... I'm happy to help and provide any assistance when I can, but I do NOT tolerate plagiarism of any kind. I know if you copy my stuff, so don't bother. Just copy and paste the link above and everyone's happy!

Correct - does not matter if ROM is Odex/DeOdex. It does have an updated APN config file that contains the correct AT&T LTE APN, but it will not replace your existing APN if you already have one set up (unless you do a "factory reset" before flashing the fix.

So those roms work perfect for me, it may not for others, wifi/data/gps all run smooth, what else would I need.
You can flash any of the roms, just DO NOT do your email setup until after the rom has been completely installed, at first boot you will get FC on playstore over and over, so you have to be quick, I have a few tools that I flash before the rom is booted, just use root explorer push a playstore apk from one of the att roms, then setup your email, and bingo, everything runs perfect.
my wife is running a sprint rom on her att, and it has been running perfect now for months. so why wait for a rom to be ported over, I didn't want to wait, I am no dev, but it did not take a rocket scientist to figure out how to cheat the system. My motto has always been, if man made it, I am going to beat it.
Hmmm....all this did was delete all my APN's. I'm on CM 10.0.0 Stable
Anyone care to tell me the settings so I can at least get a signal again?

Why would you run this file if you already had att apn settings in cm10?
Just asking?
Search for att apn it is everywhere.
Sorry to hear that.

arshull, you may want to warn everyone that this deletes all existing apn settings, and adds just at&t settings. Just trying to help.
Ya know, in your op. I already knew the file would delete the settings, but others may not. Still, great work. Thanks

BTW - Can't wait until you get your rom posted, looking forward to it.

Yes, it was quite clear it would delete the settings. That was not hard to understand...I expected that. I also expected it to inject new settings.
The reason I was interested in overwriting my settings is because I have been on many different ROMs and had recently had issues with my APN settings. I had 3 different ones that all seemed to work to varying degrees, almost seemingly needing to switch every month.
I know the ATT APN is out there a million different places, there is also a million different versions of that ATT APN floating around as well. I assumed that this package probably does more than just regurgitate those settings and therefore asked what specific ones it set in the phones it had been flashed in.
But instead of helping me on that level....you decided to play Gestapo and not only ask questions that aren't helpful, but answer questions that weren't being asked.
Regardless, obviously I wasn't blaming the OP and maker of this issue...no one else seems to have had this problem and I eventually got up and going again by clean flashing a new rom....

good luck
Good job on releasing this, I'm sure it will help a lot of people.
Just wanted to say that this replaces the features.xml which is a place where a lot of tweaks occur. It looks like you've included most of them, but there are still a few missing (One I can see is increasing joinable contacts). So if a rom says anything about CSC edits and you flash this over, it MIGHT break some of them.
fix
When this correct the 4g lte problem where the calls don't show sometimes and sms come real late?

Yes, that is correct. I tried to include as many CSC mods/options that I've routinely seen or used (which are verified & stable). Anyone that uses a new custom feature that requires CSC modding will need to simply add that in the CSC file. But this should give a very good base w/ most features included.
Thanks

I assumed that everyone would wipe data/factory reset that it was a given your APN's would be replaced. For those that don't, this will replace your APN file and replace with the correct LTE apn settings - which fixes some problems regarding incorrect APN's/problems. This was intentional and helps way more often than hurts. Only those who are not following the instructions will be effected by the apn replacement.
Thanks for the fix, anyway to change the icon images back to the stock lte,4g icons

That is dependant on the specific ROM and how they have the icons classified/named in the systemui.apk.

Stickey this thread
Works like a charm. Out the box had a problem with WiFi and made me reluctant to get back flashing. Of course on first flash I lose data. Dirty flashed hours ago with no problems. Stick this at the TOP.:good:
Glad everyone is liking it! I think I'm going to create another zip that will have some addigional files and will allow you to flash any North American SG3 ROM and mod it for AT&T.
I've been flashing and running several Spint and Verizon ROMs lately and now know which files are needed to convert the CDMA function to GSM and get full use of all the i747 specific features.

Q&A for [KERNEL][KK][4.4.4]LiquidKernel
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Maybe I flashed incorrectly, but the mms and data still aren't working for me.

What phone do you have? What version did you flash? Did you do a clean or dirty flash? Did you come from a different ROM? You need to give more info.
I have an Epic 4G Touch. It was a clean flash. I was on version 4.4.4, bit the lack of data was a deal breaker. And I made sure the flash of the kernal was clean. I probably did something wrong since I'm relatively new to all this.

The build date is what I was looking for. If you are on the latest build, which is the 9/30 build, Data and MMS works. Data and MMS has nothing to do with the kernel. I have been on LS for a few months, going back and forth from Commotio. Data and MMS worked on all build except one. Post a screen of you "about phone" page so I can see the build and kernel you are on. Also you need to be on an ICS modem such as FL24. If you are still on GB27, then you will not have Data or MMS no matter what you do. What carrier are you with?
Well as of now, I just rolled everything back to stock. I'll attempt another flash later today. I'm on Virgin Mobile. I know their device runs off Sprint towers. I'd actually have to wait a week to test data capability since my service lapsed yesterday morning so I'm not even connected to the network anymore. Thank you for taking the time to answer this by the way. I probably sound like a total idiot.

Nope, not an idoit at all. I just uploaded a tutorial on how to go from stock to KK. Check it out as it will help you for all KK ROMs. You will know that Data works by looking at your pulldown. Where the data is it should say "Sprint" or "Virgin Mobile". The kernel on the latest build of Liquid Smooth will not let you create a backup. Some guys have since fixed "Extreme Kernel" and most of us are using it on a few different ROMs. You will need to be on a 4.4 ROM such as, Commotio, Vanir, CM11, for the kernel to work. Also understand that there is no "4G" on 4.3 or 4.4 ROMs. If you would like to be able to toggle between both 3G and 4G, then you will have to stay on 4.2.2 ROMs such as PACROM, or WFTN (Wild For The Night). I would suggest you look at some videos before you do anything just to get a feel for this. @qbking77 has a ton of vids for this specific phone. Check them out as they will help you. The main thing you need to remember is make sure that anything you flash is for E4GT/D710 and not a different phone as you can brick your phone. :crying:
Well once I get my service back and running again, I'll definitely be looking into it again. I was using the Dirty Unicorns ROM and loved it, with the exception of data loss. 4G isn't a concern for me since I live in an area where it isn't available. Shocker I know. Not even Verizon or AT&T have 4G coverage here. But thanks for the advice. This was actually my first time successfully flashing a custom ROM.

With that being said, the 9/30 build has working data as well as anything before 9/1. The official 3.1 has working data.
