I have to disable notifications on the Facebook app at least one a day. Sometime after disabling it, I will get a Facebook notification. I open the app up and sure enough notifications are turned back on. Does this happen to anybody else? Any way to stop it other than removing the app?

Do you have auto sync turned on for Facebook?
In the Facebook app i have unchecked sync. I don't even have it stop in my accounts.
I get no FB notifications, and everything is turned on. I have gone as far as trying the BB trick, and it did not help. Been trying to solve this for days.
The Facebook app for Android has ALWAYS been a piece of @#$%. I've had the settings change on me as well, or randomly the contact sync screen would open when I click on the app. I'd try clearing the app data and then making your choices again. I also noticed that even though I have the refresh set to never, my messages still come through immediately as well.
I may just completely remove it and install Friends caster.

I moved to an Android device recently, and I'm having trouble with auto sync on a few of the apps. I've back ground and auto sync turned on, I've the always on mobile data enabled but still my weather, email and twitter won't sync according to the set schedule. I've ATK installed but I've disabled auto-kill on it. This is quite frustrating, what am I missing. Thanks.

Need to add something, these auto sync on twitter cast probably keeps working when the device is on but stops working after the device goes into standby mode. I'm really looking forward for some guidance on this nagging issue. Thanks.

I have looked up this problem and tried everything. I have cleared the data, forced stop, rebooted, and even uninstalled the app but nothing. The only time I receive those notifications are when the app syncs. I have everything turned on in the Gmail settings for notifications I just really want notifications to work. Thanks.

The only time this happened to me was when I flashed Clean Rom 3.0 (back then) the first time. I found that nothing was syncing except only when I manually pushed. I got frustrated and just did a clean re-flash... all was good (never had the problem since). I am not exactly sure where the issue was so I just chalked it up as a bad flash.
Edit: Just realized yes, it was a bad flash when I re-installed google apps with Titanium Back Up... The clean flash installed from Play Store : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2077310&highlight=gmail+sync+issue

Settings > [email protected] > Sound & Vibrate > uncheck "Notify once"
that should make your emails come to you instantly whenever you get a new email. if it's something else, you would just have to clear data like the poster above mentioned, and then go to these settings again.
Has anyone experienced this before with the Facebook app? Something's throwing it for a loop! It only seemed to start with the latest app update. However, I am also using TeslaUnread with Nova Prime (I also use Pushbullet, but disabled the notification push for Facebook). Guess that's a place to start, disabling Tesla for Facebook and see where that takes me. The investigation continues, but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone else has seen this before with a similar config.

Use Greenify
Yep greenify
Thanks guys, will look into that.
Go into app settings in Facebook and disable sync and refresh time to never. That slows Facebook battery drain. Good luck

Yes, saw that one day. It was surprising just how bad it was. I uninstalled Facebook, reset, and reinstalled later. It's been fine since, but the problem may recur (I don't know why it happened in the first place).

I went ahead and set the app to never auto-refresh (looks like it doesn't affect the notifications, so that's good), since I don't need my news feed updating every hour when I can just do that when I go into the app. I've been just closing the app completely every time I'm done using it for the past few days, but I think I'll give it another go letting it run in the background, and see how it does. I did notice a couple other people mentioned bad Note 4 battery on the latest reviews in the Play Store.
Has anyone experienced problems with some notifications? Just recently I stopped receiving push notifications for both Hangouts and Whatsapp? My messages only appear when I enter the app. I've even cleared the app data for Hangouts, uninstalled, reinstalled, and it solved the problem but only temporarily. I can't determine if it's a phone, marshmallow, or app issue. This is my first time on marshmallow and I've never experienced this before coming from KitKat on my HTC M8.
I've had the same issue since updating the OS software last week. Any help on this would be much appreciated. I'm not receiving push notifications for any apps anymore. All settings are turned on to receive them. I've even downloaded an app to push the notifications and it doesn't work.
Are you sure DND mode is not active?
Absolutely positive.
I managed to fix it through a whatsapp forum about not receiving push notification for that particular app. Hopefully this helps the OP.
When I got my phone I restricted background data on google services because it used 10gb of data within a 10 minute period of turning on my phone, mostly coming from that. For the first 2 months I was still getting push notifications for all my apps, but with the most recent OS update something must have changed it so the settings were no longer compatible.
So I re-enabled background data on google services and it started to work.
See if that helps. If not, I'm stuck on ideas.
Good luck an let us know how you go.
I was wondering if anyone had any problems with yahoo mail I only recently get emails notifications Wen I open the app I can't find anywhere in settings Were you can change sync every 5 minutes or so on I don't know what it's set at

Anyone else having issue with Facebook notifications?
Every other app works fine - Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn..etc.
I checked my app settings and notification settings within Android and everything seems to be in order. Even re-installed the Facebook app and still no dice.
When I open the app I see I have notifications, however my phone isn't notifying me of anything related to Facebook. I have open the app to see the notifications within the app.
Anyone else having the same problem?
I am on Pixel 2 XL 8.1 stock.
Did you disable background activity for the app?

No, it is active.
Having the same issue. Also there are times the app doesn't recognize that the phone is connected to WiFi. The app continues to update the feed, but the videos won't auto play until I turn off WiFi then back on.
Have you ever cleared the cache and data under the Google Framework Services trying to push the OTA update? It is said that would break GCM things.
