[Q] Custom rom 2 another custom rom ? - HTC One X

I am on HD revolution 14 custom rom and i would like to try another custom rom (or the newerr HD rev 15).
What is the easier method to put another custom rom ?
Will i loose everything again ?
Thanks.

Wrong forum but anyway
1. use titanium backup to backup all current apps and data
2. download zip of ROM
3. flash zip and boot.IMG
4. wipe data and dalvik cache
5. reboot.
6. Redownload titanium backup and restore your apps and data.

Firstly , if you just want to flash the ARHD 15 from ARHD 14 . You can just flash the newer boot.img and then flash the ROM without wiping because there's not a big difference in the base . You can wipe cache and dalvik cache but not necessarily , but wiping both of them won't do any harm right ? Use Titanium Backup to backup your apps and data if you don't want to lose anything . If you want to flash another custom ROM , do a full wipe ( cache , dalvik cache , factory and format system ) then flash the boot.img and ROM and ( other stuff that might be needed for the ROM such as Gapps for ICJ , it will be noted in the thread so just follow the instructions )

You can either download the boot.img youself or extract it from the ROM .

i have arhd 13.0 and hboot 1.28 and now i want arhd 15.0.Do I have to have a new version hboot?

Yes, your hboot must Be 1.31 or 1.33

1.28 will do but there are fixes in 1.31 / 1.33 so ... go and update it for a better one

Don't have to be 1.31 / 1.33 .

[Q] How to update your ROM.

Hello guys, I would like to know how to update my ROM using dalvik cache? I have Foxhound ROM 0.3 and i would like to install the 0.4. Can anyone help me ?
Hi Mate
You don't update using the Dalvik Cache. The Dalvik Cache is just something that is best to clear before an update.
In order to flash a new ROM there are a few things you need to have set up on your computer and phone and they are well detailed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
Read the above thread and find out what has already been done. I think your phone will be Bootloader Unlocked and Rooted already. If so flash the latest Clockwork Recovery Mod CWM and then just download the ROM you want and store it on your phone. Once done you will be able to use the above link to easily write it to your phone using CRM and the Flash Update from SD Card Option.
Hope this helps.

Ummm. he doesn't have to read that thread..
Just simply download the ROM
Put it on your phone's storage
Boot into CWR
Wipe Dalvik and Cache
Flash ROM
[OPTIONAL] Flash Kernel (if you used one a custom kernel)

I WANT YOU PEOPLE TO HELP ME IF I GET THESE STEPS CORRECT(so i dont mess up my much loved nexus)
1.Make a backup with CWM(is this what you guys call NANDROID???)
2.Wipe data/factory reset in CWM
3.Put the ROM at the root of sd card on the phone(in pc i connect the nexus and put them right after the galaxu nexus drive where everything is???)
4.Flash AOKP BUILD 25(Do i need to flash previous build before i flash buid 25)
5.Flash Gapps
6. Reboot
My other questions are:
1.Everytime you flash a custom rom,Gapps, custom KERNEL,RADIO, I do these steps one by one or all at the same time????
2.The md5 sums i put them together with the ROM OR GAPPS on the phone or is just for me to check if they are correct
3.If a make a factory/data reset in CWM doesn't that delete my CWM and Titanium apps back ups???

Depends on what you're flashing. If you're just updating GAPPS or to a new version of the same ROM you don't have to do a full wipe. That'd be a hassle. Only wipe if they recommend it for the update, or you're switching to a completely different ROM.

You can restore user apps + data. I would stay away from restoring system data as it usually causes more problems than its worth. As a precaution I like to do a nandroid of the clean ROM before batch restoring with TiBU, because restoring lots of apps can mess things up and you don't wanna wipe and reflash because you borked a restore.

25 is the full rom (outside of gapps) and i think more current than milestone 3.

[Q] Please help Stuck on the htc one screen after hboot upgrade

hello i decided to upgrade my hboot by flashing the correct firmware http://www.androidrevolution.nl/downloader/download.php?file=3.16.65.2.zip also never did any OTA just update my hboot

EDIT : Also i unlocked my new hboot again and flashed cwm recovery touch and did a factory reset aka wipe user data from CWM touch menu but no luck helpppp
You could just flash a new Rom instead of your stock Rom.... Fast boot flash the boot.img then go back into recovery and flash away... I believe the reason why ur getting stuck is because ur on a jelly bean hboot now

OMG Thanks sooooo much to XDA now i am running arhd smoothly on my htc one x WOOOOOOT:victory::victory:
though about full wipe i am using cwm recovery and before flashing the boot.img i did select two option
1.wipe data\clear cache
2.Wipe casch partition
those are the only two options i saw in recovery though there are more option in advanced menu but didnt touch those
summery of what i did:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
again in recovery selected wipe data and wipe cash partition option
installed arhd from recovery(no tweaks selected and also selected data wipe in AROMA)
rebooted to arhd
so now what? did i do a full wipe??? i dont think i did as all music and game data is still in my storage ??? also did i had to SELECT THE battery stats clear CWM???
and just another question why cant i install any of the game apks that i installed easily when i was in stock ics????
You don't need to wipe data so many times... You only have to do it once, either in Aroma installer or through recovery... Also go to advanced>wipe dalvic n cache
Full wipe means your /system /cache and dalvic cache are wiped clean... the user sd card isn't touched. So none of your pics, videos get deleted!
Even your android folder is intact, so if you have downloaded large game data, no need to download it again, just install the apk and your good to go!
and finally about the apks, you have to go to settings and 'check' install apps from unknown sources! That will solve your problem I guess!

Yes, it's normal that you get that message.."Android is upgrading">..
After wiping cache and dalvic from recovery, when the phone boots up.. it again creates the dalvic for the apps. That's why you get that message and there's no need to flash arhd now...
Just go to settings>Apps>select the game>clear cache/data...

Yes, It deleted the stale data/cache and then rebuilds it when phone boots up... so it's a good thing! I always wipe my cache/dalvic once in 10 days or so...

I tried this several times, also in the same procedure you posted to someone with almost exactly the same phone as me (so I downloaded the same files). Phone boots but is stuck on htc quietly... I just flashed the maximus rom again, posted on that thread, but I don't get much response from them. I guess I'm stuck in custom roms?
Oke one more go !
Download my nandroid

Unpack to the sdcard, copy the boot.img to the fastboot folder
Flash the boot.img
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter the recovery and make a full wipe
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and storage - format cache, data, system
Then restore the nandroid backup and reboot.
Should work flawless ..... report back when done please

Via CWM recovery all ROM flashing way is almost same, no matter which model you have. But the matter is which version (ROM/kernel) support your device. Before flashing new ROM you need to confirm few things:
1. Bootloader status
2. S-NO/OFF
3. Root status
4. Supported Custom Recovery
5. Is that ROM/kernel support your device?

If these issues are met then you can go further. Now download your desired ROM and GApps in your SD card (root-directory of your eg. /storage/sdcard/0/) and follow the thread (your desired ROM) instruction (if there are) or follow these:
Code:
Boot into your Custom Recovery
wipe data/factory reset & cache partition
wipe battery stats (if this option available in your custom recovery)
wipe dalvik cache
format everything except sdcard
Flash the files via "install zip from sdcard" > "choose zip from sdcard"
wipe cache partition (remember your gapps install location. If, the location is cache partition then leave it)
wipe dalvik cache
reboot system
Remember you need good battery health before going recovery mode. Hope this will help you.
