Need to switch back to a touchwiz rom so I can get wifi calling. Using CM10 now but have no service at home so i need wifi calling. What are the best/most current touchwiz roms? I have a darkside 3.8 backup but was wondering if there is anything else that is better. Thanks

I have been searching the forums for AOSP ROMs for the Galaxy S2 and i can't seem to find any. I find a few ROMs that have some of the AOSP apps built in, but i'm looking for a strait up AOSP ROM. Is there a such thing for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2?
I do need to use WiFi Calling, i have no reception at my house at all so I need this feature working! But other then that i don't care if video recording doesn't work, if the ROM is GB or ICS.
I miss the HTC device ROMs there were always more options!
Any information would be helpful!

Aokp cm7 cm9 are all aosp and available for the t989. Both cm can be found in the dev section aokp needs to be downloaded from goo manager, which is an app. None of them have wifi calling however. No one has yet been able to figure out how to put wifi calling in a rom that isn't tw based because its more than just an app, its baked into the rom itself. I wouldn't count on it being developed any time soon either, but its not out of the realm of possibility. So to sum up: if you want wifi calling you have to use a T-Mobile rom, if you want aosp, you can't have wifi calling
That is what i was starting to think! sucks! Thanks for the reply!

these guys on the htc sensation forum figured it out check it out
hey guys.
I finally tried Codename Android, and I'm finding it very snappy, and pretty good.
only problem i'm having is my connection stays at EvDO Rev. A:6, not A:8. since then i'm getting spotty data and Pandora skips, which it never did in Rev a:8.
my wife is on stock ICS rooted and she connects to a:8 right next to me, while i'm connected to a:6.
I'm thinking it may have something to do with the APNs. i tried deleting my APN, to see what would happen...and nothing happened. still connected to a:6. Prior to Jelly Bean when I would delete the APN using APN Backup and Restore, it would delete the settings for the APN and obviously I would have no internet connection.
is there a way to do this in JB? or anyone know how i can change my connection to a:8?
If i can't get a solution to this i might have to go back to a Touch Wiz based rom
Ironically enough I just noticed the same thing last night when I was at work, I would be @ rev A6
I too tried some mods, deleting eri.xml from framework-res.apk and replacing it with the stock TW one, same with apns-config.xml but no success. Which leads me to think it's a framework.jar issue, some sort of ril thing. If that's the case I'm not too sure on solving that.

well that's not good. that's a deal breaker for me. so I will have to change to TW again. do you know if this is a JB based issue, or a AOSP/AOKP issue? because there's a couple of JB-based TW roms out now. was going to try the one by freeza.

I'm really not too sure, I haven't checked out the JB leak yet. I know on a TW ICS ROM I'm always on Rev 8, on CM10/AOKP I'm on Rev 6. So I'd assume it's something with the AOSP ROMs only

i'm trying freeza's TW JB leak rom and from the get go, i'm on Rev a8. must be an AOSP thing.
Hey guys, I am a little confused on touchwiz and wifi calling.
If i understand correctly, a touchwiz rom is a customized (de-bloated) stock rom - from what i understand those are the only ones that have wifi calling.
I am currently running cm 10.1 and love it, but I have to start using wifi calling due to poor signal in my new home.
1. do i understand touchwiz and wifi calling correctly?
2. if i do, Any suggestions on the standard best of touchwiz with wifi calling? or can anyone point me in the right direction as I have a hard time knowing weather a ROM is touchwiz or not.
First, a custom TW ROM is more then just debloated. The devs add many scripts and code to improve battery life and smoothness. Some are adding things like AOSP lockscreen and theming. Yes, these modified stock ROMS are the only ones with wifi calling. My advice, roam the threads and see which ROM will suit your fancy.

And to add what LoopDoG said, it has to be a ROM based on a TMobile base. Wifi calling is a TMo feature that is baked into the base, not an APK. All ROMS that support wifi calling will say so in their first post.
And yes, you understand correctly. A non-touchwiz ROM cannot support wifi calling.

Agreed. I use WiFi calling extensively because I live and work in places that have either poor Tmo coverage or no coverage for anyone at all. blackangst is right, I've looking into this a lot because of my need for WiFi calling. WiFi calling is an exclusive Tmo feature and the only ROMs that have it are either stock Tmo, or variants of stock Tmo or any ROM created with a stock Tmo base. There have been several developers who have tried albeit unsuccessfully to include WiFi calling in their non-Tmo base ROMs like the developer of the ROM Embryo 6 (which I would use as my daily driver IF and only IF it were a Tmo based ROM (because of my need for WiFi calling). Note, Embryo is a TW ROM but it's from AT&T so it doesn't have WiFi calling. The best ICS ROM with WiFi calling that I used extensively was Darkside Evolution. But that's it. Tmo based ROM, or no WiFi calling. Right now I'm using the stock 4.1.2 rooted and deodexed and I'm trying to learn how to add the mods I want like the 23 toggles and threaded group MMS messaging.
You can flash multiple touchwiz roms that have wifi calling feature, jedi mind trick, infamous s2, tweakwiz, these are just a few, find one that works for u and flash away

Hello, I am wondering what is the newest most advanced ROM that has T-Mo's Wi-Fi calling?
I ask because there was a ROM that stated it in the title but no longer seems to do so
I also assume there are a bunch of great ROMs out there that support it and don't adverstise it
Lastly, is there a zip/apk we can flash onto any ROM? I know this used to exist but didn't always work
Any help would be much appreciated
I'm asking because I have been away for a while
I had found this ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142932
Any info on the ability to flash Wi-Fi Calling onto any ROM would be my main request
Info on great Wi-Fi Calling ROMs would be a close second
Thanks

Embrio is a very nice rom. I'm partial to Jedi Mind Trick V4/5. Its a great TW ROM that has the WIFI calling you desire. It is in JB 4.1.2 However if you like to be able to skin your ROM how you like check out AvatarROM. It also has WIFI calling as well. It has a theme engine which you can use to employ themes that are available in-rom to download, or pick a theme from the market. It runs 4.2.2. Both are stellar ROMs and run very fast. And FYI. If you require a ROM that can use WIFI tether, JMT does the job well. Even uses the stock tether app too. (Take that T-mo.)

Great, Avatar ROM looks Amazing, do you know if Avatar supports custom kernals? If not which of these ROMs does?

Both ROM's support custom kernels. I am using the most recent kernel build from elbermu, which is the TW_1.02 for JMT. Does a great job. Supports Kernel tuner and TweakMod. Just make sure you are using the correct version kernel for the correct ROM build (i.e 4.1.2 with the proper 4.1.2 kernel. I learned the hard way) Also GApps packages.

When I loaded Avatar up, I had to turn WIFI calling off I believe. IDK. I don't run it as a daily driver ATM. But I can tell you that JMT does. Thats my daily driver. Works like a champ. WIFI calling works, but I don't use it much. Sorry if I misinformed you earlier about Avatar and WIFI calling. The new version might not have it.

No worries, I'm on JMT now and it's very good
Seen some old post on this and most of them were for T-Mobile so I say its worth asking for the sprint users.
Is there any Rom that has WiFi calling that is more of a stock Android? (Any Rom that is not a Sense based Rom)
One bump to see if anyone can help me out a little
I'm hoping this option becomes available as well.
