How do I return a flashed phone to stock? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I have a S3 Verizon.
It was flashed remotely by another forum member.
It hasn't worked right since.
It was flashed to PagePlus
Data runs about 200-600kbps
mms messaging doesn't work.
half my calls get dropped.
I just want to cut my losses and set the phone to stock and sell it.
And yes, the problem is in the flash, not the phone.
It was half-flashed for 2 weeks and calls/sms worked fine.
So how do I return it to stock?

Look in the Verizon section for a stock ODIN tar (or stock ROM), and ODIN.
Now i'm not familiar with how your person got the phone on pageplus. Did he add the default MEID to pageplus' ESN database or did he "repair" with another donor MEID? If he modified the MEID/ESN then you'll have to get that back to the original MEID/ESN (can't be discussed here on xda..) and you're set.

Thanks for your reply.
I dine know how he did it but my meid shows wrong on the phone. Its completely different than what my meid actually is.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app

So the MEID that is showing on the phone (Settings>About Phone) is different from what is printed on the back of the phone when you remove the battery?
If that is the case, he modified your MEID using a donor. I assume you're not familiar with the "tools" used to do these. You'd need to write the original MEID back to the phone (and do a ##786 reset just in case afterwards) and that's it.
Can't you get in touch with the individual?
You can definitely sell it the way it is if you explain what has been done to it, but of course you'd lose on the value..(folks who know how, know how to remedy it easy regardless).

Returning SG3 to stock settings

Hi,
I recently purchased a Sprint SG3 on craigslist, but was unable to activate it through Sprint. They told me that the serial number in the phone was different from the serial number behind the battery which meant the phone was probably flashed to another carrier.
I have never rooted my android phones before, therefore am at a lost. The sales rep told actually told me about this website. So my question is, how do I go about restoring the phone to factory settings.. like if it was just out the box. Please help! >.<
Run this.(I'd go with the wipes data version). When it boots up it will attempt activation. If it still isn't working, open the dialer and hit ##72786#. Best of luck

Nope, it roots it and reverts to stock at the same time

None of what has been posted is going to help you. All the "reset" advice will not change the serial (MEID/ESN) back to what it originally was (behind the battery/back of phone).
What happened is whoever had the phone previous to you "wrote" a different serial (MEID) using software, either for the purpose of using it on a different carrier or what-have-you.
Since you're obviously new to this, the fix is to find someone who "knows" about these things to write the correct serial back to the phone (frowned upon here on XDA) because they have to physically connect the phone to a computer and use software to do this. Or you can just take the loss and sell the phone back on Craigslist and list is as a BAD ESN.
If you were local to NYC, i could help you out, but alas...

They deflashed my flashed BoostMobile EVO4G

Ok so I know I did the ultimate no-no with a flashed phone. BoostMobile tech support tried to update my profile. I know I shouldn't have done this. I called both Sprint and BoostMobile tech support for help. My Sprint EVO 4G, flashed to Boost, was being blocked by my boyfriend's Sprint Airave. This is the 2nd EVO4G I have had flashed to boost. The first one (lost forever!) was flashed for over a year, we had the airave then too with no conflict issues. Lost phone. Bought new one (sprint) had it flashed. Now it tries to use the airave.
Differences:: New phone is rooted with Synergy RLS1. Old one was not rooted and had stock ROM on it.
New issues:: CONSTANT notifications about voice mail update. (never had that before). Attempting any kind of call results in error from Airave. I understand WHY! I just want to Stop the BOOST-SPRINT communication and make calls like I did before.
Anyway, I told them the AIRAVE problem, and told them I had custom ROM, ROOT and FLASHED phone they said "No Problem! We know what to do". they screwed the phone up and then accidentally dropped the call. So here I am after days of searching, reading, contemplating, still without phone service. Booting the phone results in loop of ATTEMPTING HANDS FREE ACTIVATION. and many times while on. Under settings, System Updates if I click on update profile it says.....Previous DM session is working now please try again later.
Will I have to go through the whole flash process again? Since I just did this 3-4 weeks ago there isn't much I need to save on the phone. I have all the versions and settings numbers from the phone but just didn't know which ones to post.
Frustrated, Aggravated and Completely out of touch with the world!!!
I would have never gotten to days. After a few hours of no success, I would have just started over

yes I do appreciate the advice. And in moving forward that is the best choice.
Also in moving forward I am hoping that some of the senior members might have comments as to why the almost identical phone was now being blocked by the sprint Airave and getting the constant Sprint notifications of updated voice mail. Surely there is a way to shield the phone from the airave. Other than calling Sprint (no results) or calling Boost ( wrong results) someone has to have figured out a way to stop this.
Any speculations, suggestions, or comments?
What kind of donor phone did you use to flash the Evo?

That I do not know. I have not been able to reach the person who flashed the phone. I will ask that when I reach them. btw I have the original boost phone that was associated with my account before I flashed the first time. That was the donor then, I think. And I was thinking that I should re-register that phone before I flash back again with this 2nd phone. Is that thinking a valid thought?

I found the type of phone. I logged in under my account and it says the current phone is Sanyo SCP-6760 Incognito. I can use the account to change the the phone back to my original handset that I used for years and was the handset I used to fllash to the first EVO I had.

Yeah, I was gonna say, anytime you need to know what donor phone was used to flash your phone..just log into your Boost account and click on "Update Handset" this will tell you exactly what phone is on your account aka used as your donor phone. It will almost always be either the Incognito or Rant. ((But anyone thinking of flashing a phone, should never have this problem because you should always have physical possession of the donor used on your account..there is not one single reason why the person flashing your phone would need to hold on to your donor. Period. So always make sure that you ask for , and receive the donor phone used to activate your Sprint phone)))
That being said...Unfortunately, your phone is going to need reflashed again, and you definitely did not need to activate the previous donor on to your Boost account. You just needed to contact the person who flashed your phone and (hopefully) he still has your donor phone and will be able to pull your passwords (profile info ) out of it again and write it to your Sprint phone. (Like you already seem to be aware of) when your profile was reset, that meant that it did not match what was on your flashed Sprint phone. You'll need to (first activate the donor that was on your account before you just switched it to your previous one) and then update the profile (on that donor) and then put it on your Evo and you'll be good as new...OR just reflash your phone all together with the donor that you just activated on the account.
As far as the Voicemail Update issue...I have noticed this being pushed constantly to the Sprint phones also(including my Evo LTE on Boost) , I honestly don't believe there is a way to stop it. It doesn't really bother me anymore it just sits in the notification tray all the time. I imagine that eventually Sprint will stop pushing it to their phones. If I do ever come up with a fix for it though I will be sure to try and look this thread up or pm you with it. Good luck with getting your Evo back online...and word to the wise..never call Boost for anything if you have a flashed phone on your account...First off they will trouble shoot it as if its the donor phone..Second, their standard protocol is to Update the profile, and/or Factory reset the phone, either of which will interrupt the service on your flashed Sprint phone.

[Q] Flashed back to Sprint, 2 different HEX/DEC values...help

A shot in the dark here but I need some assistance regarding the reversal of flashing the Epic 4G to Virgin Mobile, and then back to Sprint. I have done pretty much everything I researched, from resetting settings via ##72786# and ##786#, even Odin'd the stock FC09 and selecting Phone EFS Clear, and everything seems to have reset. But the values of the DEC/HEX number are different on both the battery sticker, and under About Phone.
Is this normal? I've attempted this because I was hoping to sell my Epic 4G and the guy who purchased it said it wasn't activating for him. When I got it back I noticed that the values from the Virgin Mobile flash were still programmed under About Phone. So after resetting everything, the values seem to be back to the normal and doesn't display the Virgin Mobile values, but the DEC/HEX numbers differ from each other on the sticker and under About Phone.
Was just curious if the DEC/HEX number that are being displayed under About Phone are the correct, or incorrect. I checked with Sprint via chat support and asked them to check for me if the ESN is clean, and apparently the DEC/ESN number that is listed under About Phone is clear and ready to activate, but the DEC/ESN number located on the battery sticker is not clear. If I were to sell the phone, would the buyer be able to activate it on Sprint if they gave Sprint the DEC/ESN number listed under About Phone? Would they have any problems?
Hope somebody can help me, as I'm really confused by this. Thanks.

The ESN on the sticker needs to match the ESN showing on About Phone. If the ESN on the sticker is bad, it's not going to activate on Sprint.

[Q] HELP! Recovery of Sprint GS3 original IMEI after stupidly changing it with DFS

I flashed my GS3 to boost mobile. Long story short, I used a boost evodesign4g as a donor, I changed the correct values to get it activated, but I also changed the IMEI with DFS to match the evo design4g (never thinking to back up my original gs3 imei let alone write it down:crying:). I figured out at a much later date that I never needed to change my IMEI to match the evo design. Now I am switching over to voyager mobile as they allow byod sprint devices, so I can have lte. BUT ONE HUGE PROBLEM, Currently my GS3 has the wrong IMEI.... I need to recover my original sprint GS3 IMEI as it is linked in the sprint database to my meid and ICCID for LTE activation. Yes I have checked the obvious, I searched the forums found nothing for my situation, it’s not on the white sticker on the back I don't have the original box anymore because if I did I would not need to ask for help...I figure it might be similar to recovering a Verizon GS3 IMEI, Maybe the original is hidden in one of the NV items?. So does anyone know how to recover the original factory set IMEI for a SPRINT GS3??? Is there a way to calculate it from the ICCID number?
Thank you to all who reply! I’m really in a bind here and need some help or guidance.

[Q] Sprint tech support sent me to Xda for this problem

No one has a clue why Sprint can't see serial number & can't activate it. It was Demo phone never activated for use.
ESN ready for activation!
SAMSUNG L900 SILVER (SPHL900GYS)
version 4.3
1. I tried some forenic software & I did see GSM in the settings. But under phone Device details it says CDMA-eHRPD.
2. If my 14yo kid playing around it unlock it with a bad code before it was activated have screwed it up and changed setting to GSM?
3. Would flashing &/or rooting return it to normal, if the problem is it was set/changed to GSM & not CDMA?
4. Could it be flashed to another mvo but since it hasn't been activated with Sprint first, would that make a difference?
I already spent a couple of weeks searching google, this & other forums & couldn't find a similar situation. Contacted everyone possible at Sprint support. Their solution was take it to a Sprint repair store, which is a 3 hour drive. Just to see if it was ever flashed which it wasn't. I guess I'll do the store if I can't get help here. I was hoping just some simple setting changes might fix it.
Can anyone please help with this problem or give options?
If your phone is in fact a Sprint branded phone then yes you can activate it on the Sprint network. I assume the esn and meid numbers are attached on the back of the phone beneath the battery. If so then all you will need to do is flash the stock Sprint rom on your phone using odin. I would first get your phone back to factory condition and verify everything works by visiting this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2591898
Follow the instructions to get your phone back to original out of box condition. Good luck.
