[Q] Connect Note2 to 2.4ghz wireless mini keyboard? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to connect via 2.4ghz wireless as opposed to Bluetooth. I have a Rii mini wireless keyboard that connects via 2.4ghz. (They actually do bluetooth ones aswell but I bought the 2.4 one as it was literally pennies cheaper. I did buy this time ago and not to connect to phones yet hindsight makes me feel stupid.)
Have searched the play store market for 2.4ghz connectors but only seem to find wifi detectors. Does 2.4 run via completely different hardware to bluetooth or is there some kind of software to manipulate connections?
I know there is a similar question but I focus mainly on the hardware difference between bluetooth and 2.4ghz.
I know I can use the wireless receiver for the keyboard via usb otg but dont have the otg connector.

buy yourself an otg cable. it costs less then 3$ included shipping. tested that with my wireless keyboard and it works fine. no additional external power source needed for the usb receiver. the only other way is to buy a Bluetooth keyboard

do what he said. the rii works fine with otg cable

cable or bluetooth to GPS?

Does anyone know if I could get a USB GPS receiver (such as the GlobalSat BU-353) to work with my elf if I connect using a female-mini usb converter?
I'm thinking that this would draw less power than using a bluetooth GPS receiver - would this actually be the case?
Cheers
K
i would say yes bluetooth draw more power but gps's are normaly used in cars where one can charge ones pda at the same time
Yes, but with a bluetooth receiver I'd end up using two chargers rather than one and I'd also like to use away from a vehicle. Would the usb connection charge as well as 'talk'. I'm not entirely sure how standard USB maps to mini USB to be honest ...
i dont believe that a wired gps device can charge the pda
also with htc devices (with 1 exception) cant use other usb devices
as they cant usb host
Thanks, it sounds like I'd be better going for a bluetooth GPS
Spend a few pennys more and get the entire gps unit. Are you realy going to be able to operate your phone as a gps interface while driving? Sounds like a great way to get a ticket ot me state side.

Possible to make "shell" to turn it into a netbook?

(Apologies if this has been asked before or if it's mind-bogglingly retarded.)
What we have with the SGS2 is remarkable - it's as powerful as a netbook, with video-out and USB host functionality.
It seems to me that carrying such a super-phone alongside a netbook would be a waste of money and effort, when the processor in the SGS2 is more than up to scratch.
So what would be the obstacles in making a "shell" that provided a laptop-like keyboard, mouse and screen, with an SGS2 where the processor, RAM and so on would normally be housed? (The SGS2 would be removable, of course.)
These are the ones I can think of:
USB/Bluetooth keyboard support - may have to be Bluetooth keyboard.
Touch input? (May have to be Bluetooth mouse, but mouse input is possible in Android)
Connecting a monitor and USB device through the same USB port (not necessary if keyboard/mouse are Bluetooth)
Battery life - just make the shell house a fat battery!
So let's say we could piece all that together - a keyboard, mouse, battery and screen in one shell. It could come out considerably cheaper and lighter than a netbook, with all the SGS2's media playback abilities, internet without having to tether, and no need to change apps when going from netbook to phone.
There's probably something I haven't thought of, but I couldn't resist posting.
Thoughts?
I would love to see something like this happen. The SGS2 will be my first Android phone, coming from WinMo, so I've no idea what is available or is possible with the OS. One reason I bought this phone was because I wanted to connect a Bluetooth keyboard (and mouse?) to it and keep it mounted on a dock or stand right below my two monitors at work, serving as an internet/chat/email computer, instead of taking my phone AND laptop to work every day.
Now I may be mistaken, but MHL doesn't support simultaneous USB and HDMI out, so if you wanted to connect input devices AND have monitor out, I'd guess the keyboard and mouse would have to be Bluetooth, as you've mentioned. One thing that interests me is something the Wiki entry mentions:
"The HDTV remote will control the connected device with guaranteed mixed manufacturer interoperability."
So perhaps one day we might see some SGS2 "lapdock" like the Atrix?
Check out what the guy says at 8:50 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtwTcnR0hqA
He says, basically, that he can connect the device to a tv through MHL, connect a BT keyboard and mouse, then sit back on his couch and use his device like a living room PC.
Bump...
Any news?
I put it in the top lid of my logitech dinovo mini with some rubber bands.
Looks like sh*t, but works really well!

You won't be able to do a full netbook, because the microUSB connector on the SGS2 can be used either as microUSB or MHL (HDMI video out + charger input); the two functions of the connector are mutually exclusive. So, if you're piping the SGS2's video out to the shell's display, you have no USB, and if you're using the USB, there's no external video.
You might be able to use some kind of remoting software to work around this & use the USB functionality of the SGS2; the shell would have something like a VNC client installed, then connect to server software on the SGS2 (over WiFi or BT networking).
Hm, are you 100% sure about them being mutually exclusive?

Interesting, but I would still prefer a full size keyboard.
How is it connected? USB? BT?

No idea how this can be realized. Afaik, there is a VNC client installed, but no server.
Guess it is easier to try what is mentioned above :
Use NHL to get the monitor working and BT for the keyboard. Would be good to have some profile, which enables the BT keyboard when NHL is plugged, maybe through locale or so.

I know this thread is kinda old now, but some recent tech news brought this idea back to memory for me. ICE Computer showed a docking tablet they call Trinity at Computex 2011, which apparently can be made to dock with nearly any phone or even a PC module. I didn't find too much info that wasn't regurgitated between sites, but it sounds like they won't be selling it themselves, rather they'll sell it to other companies who want one for their device.
My hope is they'll sell some kind of universal version that takes different phones and maybe just requires a different-shaped module for different phones. Here's a link to the Engadget post, but there are other pages that describe what it does and when it should be available.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/01/ice-computer-shows-off-trinity-modular-tablet-concept-aims-for/
Add a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, perhaps a stand, and voila!
Need a solution like this
1) MHL output to a tv/ monitor
2) Bluetooth keyboard and mouse work over HID profile
3) Remote Desktop software that allows use of external keyboard and mouse and which can output native resolution rather than just mirroring the screen.

Bluetooth keyboard

Hello guys,
Can you advice me on some bluetooth keyboard and mouse to use with my SGS3? My main objective is to connect it to the TV via MHL cable and to read some e-mails, some you tube, and navigate in the Internet.
Thank you.
Amazon. .....get the one shaped like a black berry

This: http://www.amazon.com/Rapoo-Wireless-keyboard-9060-Black/dp/B0072NUWNI
Rapoo's the top brand in China and Taiwan right now. Have a BT keyboard myself and have happily been using it for ages now, no problems connecting etc. The other reason being, obviously, that it's one of the cheapest in the market, lol.
Thanks freecharlesmanson and Terradune.
Terradune, is this rapoo keyboard bluetooth? I need it bluetooth because I'm going to need the usb for an MHL HDMI? On the description i seen only 2.4 ghz. I imagine that it works only with a usb dongle...

It does look like a nice keyboard/mouse but it isn't BT..
It requires a USB port for a dongle (similar to my Logitech Darkfield mouse)

wireless mouse?

droider seeks enlightenment:
having found an excellent Bluetooth keyboard (Logitech K810) for my shiny new N7 i'm now looking for a wireless mouse, don't really care if it needs a transceiver or not. searching around hasn't yielded any particularly promising leads. (yes, i've heard of the Google machine, no joy)
is this a weird thing to be looking for? do they all work with Android so, duh!, just buy one or is it so odd/marginal/doesn't-work-so-well that i'm barking up the wrong tree?
related to this, how well do the smartphone-as-mouse apps work with a droid tablet? most say "mouse away on your PC" but i'm not seeing much about doing it on the tablet.
microsoft wedge mouse .. but like the majority of bluetooth devices, there is a bug so you'll need to wait for an update from Google to fix .. you'll probably find the same with your keyboard.
yeah, i'd heard there was a bug but so far the keyboard has been good.
so, bug aside, should any old bluetooth mouse be expected to work well? that's kind of what i'd expect but you never know, tech weirdness and all.
I got the Logitech bluetooth trackpad (k651?) and it works like a charm with my k811 bluetooth keyboard. Have them paired to my Macbook, iPad, and Nexus 7 (2013) with no problems.
Sent from my Nexus 7 (2013)
Fry's had HP x4000b bluetooth mice on sale for $17.99. It pairs and works fine with the Nexus 7 (after adjusting speed).
I have an old MS 5000 BT netbook travel mouse. Works great.
I recently bought a noname keyboard and mouse from ebay, the keyboard works great... the mouse worked once and then was never able to reconnect after hours of unpairing and repairing it just won't ever work again... even tried a factory reset on the tablet no dice.... the same mouse works perfect on my s4 regardless of how many times i unpair it and reconnect
what mice are confirmed working more than once on the nexus 7
I have logitech wireless keyboard and mouse...for my N7(2013) which works really well...I got it from Amazon...and its working really fine..sometimes it creates a problem in connecting and pairing but most of the time it works smoothly and very fine....If you are facing such problems with the mouse then you better consult the customer service support as they could be the right person to sort it out.....
I use a Razer orochi. Its a great little mouse with decent specs and a great scroll wheel. Comes with a zip up pouch and a USB connector to.

Ditto on that here.
magicaly it seems the mouse decided to finaly pair and connect. still shopping for a fullsize bluetooth keyboard to use my tablet as a desktop connected to my tv
I can use my Logitech K810 keyboard and M555b mouse - both Bluetooth.
Works very well, no hickups.
The K810 also have 3 switches to...switch to 3 different BT devices on the fly. I can connect my Windows 7, iMac and Nexus 7 at work flawlessly.
Well i have this combo of wireless mouse and keyboard from Logitech and its working really fine...but the only thing which is worrying me is the instant disconnect of the keyboard time and time...and not pretty sure about the battery life of the keyboard too....but at the price they are offered are worth of it...and the disconnection problem is there but not most of the time.....
this is the one which I have
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/wireless-combo-mk320?crid=27
For me I use a universal cover with keyboard which uses a cable and since I have a phone I use it as a mouse with droidmote but since im so used to virtual keyboard I often use my keyboard cover as a stand and droidmote as the controller

hi Jimmy,
Are you using the Logitech Wireless Combo MK320 kb-mouse? How are you connecting it to the N7 - Do you have a unifying nano-receiver connected through a OTG cable?
I am trying to connect the K400 with the OTG cable, it is not working out.
Thanks,
here's wht i hav tried. worked great without any tinkering (root, 3rd party apps etc)-
1. sony ps3 controller.
2. various usb mice.
3. mircosoft wireless mouse (the ones with the usb dongle).
4. logitech wireless keyboard mouse combo.

Best mini keyboard/mousepad? Anyone else having problems with Hausbell mini h7?

What is the best wireless mini keyboard/mousepad for FTV/XBMC?
I ordered a hausbell h7 for ftv/xbmc it works but has one major problem, the HausBell often acts like i am holding the button down and getssssssssssssssssss stuck on any button be it a key or arrow button. This is obviously a huge annoyance, and happens often enough to where I plan to return it. My question is: do i have a faulty unit or is this a common issue with these?
I also have a QQ-Tech Mini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard I can't seem to get paired anyone know if these are able to be paired via FTV bluetooth?

I have the exact same issue. Thinking to return it as defective.
As of now, the Amazon dev site for the fire says the HID spec for bluetooth input is limited to the game controller HID spec, as near as I can see:
https://developer.amazon.com/public...view/supporting-controllers-on-amazon-fire-tv
This is a problem if it persists, because the USB port treats directly connected and hub connected mass storage differently.
I did read recently that there's space for an SSD inside the case, but as of now no connector take it. The lan is controlled via pcie; perhaps, especially if someone was willing to sacrifice LAN for Wifi only (I would not) it would be possible to use the PCIE to add a large SSD and have a keyboard via USB?
For now, I'm finding the Logitech K400 is acceptable for what I want.

I have both the Hausbell and a Favi. The Favi works fine; the Hausbell is not usable because of the key repeat problem. I swapped the two keyboards, putting the Favi on the Fire and the Hausbell on my Raspberry Pi. I get the same results with the Hausbell on the RPI.

Favi FE01-BL Mini Keyboard with Laser Pointer
I'm thinking about the new Favi that's designed for media centers. The FE02-BT or RF (bluetooth or wireless). I haven't done any research on whether the bluetooth one will work with the Fire TV though.

Hmm I wonder if its possible to use the PCIE lane to put another USB3 controller on it. Then you could use a USB network card. if you could even get the USB controller to run.

I have the hausbel h7.. it has a major design flaw similar to the iphone.. its antennae is inside the left portion where you hold it with your hand.. Try holding it with your right hand and it should work way better (also check your battery i get repeats with a low battery sometimes).
