Phone Bricked! Help - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I was using root unistaller to unistall a regular unistaller app from the play store, and this somehow bricked the phone. Now the phone only boots to the "Samsung" text and just hangs there. I have looked for hours on the forum and found a thread that said this is no big deal, just flashing to stock rom should fix the problem. But I could not find how to flash to stock rom, or exactly which ROM i should use. Could someone please show me a step by step guide to how to flash back to stock rom? At this point I don't care if I lose any data, I just want the phone to boot. I am coming here as a long term iPhone user, is there anyway to just "restore" this phone?

Google download mode. Then connect usb to phone. Then install rom vía Odin.

I know how to get to download mode, but doesn't odin require .tar roms. The only stock rom i could find was in zip format. If you post a link to an Odinable rom, that would be greatly appreciated!

What carrier do you have service through? Make sure whatever you flash is for that carrier. Using Odin will flash radios, boot loader and all. Boot into your boot loader screen and fast boot the img file from there.

Or if you have a flash able zip, just boot to recovery and flash and through there.

I am on AT&T, i managed to post in the right section . Which image file do u speak off? Any kind of ROM i find is a zip file that extracts to a bunch of files. I put one these zips on my sd and launched phone into stock recovery, then went to update from external storage and navigated to the zip file of the stock rom. The phone thought for a while then spit out this error message: "E:signature verification failed". Could you please link me the image file you speak of?

Used the link in this thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34101245#post34101245) to download the tar files and odin to flash. Seamed to have worked, I wonder if this was the right stock rom for my phone...

ok so you can get to recovery? Flashing Roms will not allow it to boot am I correct? I would factory reset, Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik, flash a working rom with a verified md5, wipe cache and dalvik again. reboot

yes it needs to be in download mode and you need a tar file. It sounds like a bad SD card. Keep the file on your pc. Plenty of rooted and stock tar files around...

Yes only in download mode and you can battery pull if need be just not while flashing and keep it plugged in

Phone not booting after Odin Flash. Help?

So heres the back story:
The phone had CWM Recovery and had CM 10.1 nightly but I was unhappy with it.
I tried to flash from odin using the root66 pre rooted UVDJA rom
Didn't boot. It got to the Samsung bootanimation and just keeps glowing.
Tried root66 UVALJ4 same thing no dice
What can I do?
I assume I'm missing something and I still have Odin so I know I'm pretty sure I'm not totally boned.
In Odin I am clicking PDA and loading the .tar.md5 from the root66 .7z and clicking start.
Thanks
Fun story. I went into recovery and wiped and it works... Meh.
Thanks guys
BEST BET YOUTUBE OR GOOGLE QBKING77 ROOT S3 HE HAS EVERY CORRECT METHOD
I posted a response how to fix this
In another thread
Just download the stock jellybean tar file for t999 S3 QBKING77 VID SHOULD LEAD U TO FILES U NEED
Make sure to Uncheck all 3 boxes In Odin and rename the file delete the. Md5 it should be just
. Tar
Once odin says pass pull battery and reboot
Don't mess with flashing a custom odin rom just find a stock 4.1.1 with or without root
The best root method is using root from recovery zip when rooting I don't use the tool kit crap.
And ditch cwm that why it's jacked
Use twrp recovery download goo manager from market
Initially u have to flash cwm to root after u flash cwm. tar Then you download Goo manager and hit menu and install open recovery script then u have twrp recovery
Start fresh is your best bet

Your first mistake was not making a nandroid backup and u should have flashed a zip rom if u wanna play with roms not odin. Odin is Mainly good to revert to stock, ROOT or fix a bricked phone
always flash roms with just zips

Or try to download a rom zip on pc
Transfer it via usb to the s3 internal memory
First reboot Into cwm mount usb and transfer the rom of choice u download on the pc
If u have cwm still u may be good just be sure to wipe data, dalvic and cache first.
Choose install

Like "freakboy13" said, "If you can get into DL mode, you're golden." Don't worry it just takes patience and you have to keep trying.
1. First, you want to find a stock ROM only (normally 836MB zipped and around 1.42 unzipped)
2. Make sure you're using a domestic ROM, not International and make sure you're using your model number. Do you have AT&T? if so search for - SAMSUNG SGH-I317. If not search for the one you need.
3.Flash it using Odin. I used Odin 1.87 I believe, I didn't have to use 3.07.
4. Let us know how it goes. I had to do it twice and it worked so be patient.

If you can get into dl mode "you are golden"
This is a tutorial on how to use the fastest and simplest way back to stock aka Emegrency Firmware Recovery.
This is accessed via kies.
You should do a bit more reading before attempting to use odin. Using odin is not for newbs. Dont just dl apps snd flash stuff with out understanding whats going on. Mobile odin goomanager is great, just know whats actaully going on.
What you a should do is go back to stock via efr. Heres my guide with pics.

Sweet Man! :victory:
Great news !
Now pound that thanks button for those guys that fixed you up....g

I screwed up and now it's stuck at the logo

I rooted it had a ton of apps on it and I just couldn't leave it alone. I couldn't figure out why I rooted it and then my Shealth quit working. So, I decided to install a different rom. Which I assume was back to factory. Well then I didn't have the dual window feature and couldn't get it on there either. So, tried to flash another rom. Well that didn't work now it just says Galaxy S4 and stuck there. 2 of the roms that I try to flash won't even work for some reason. This is TMobile.
One of them is this: ! SGH-M919-TMB-M919UVUAMDL That one didn't work.
Did this one: I9500_Omega_v3.0_X.....
I don't know where to start or begin now. Been trying to fix this for the last 6 hours and it is 5:00 am in the morning. I am going to have to sleep on this one.
Isnt is for Tmobile US versions??

This is exactly what I need. However the download on that page is not working.
I am still having trouble. I have no idea why. I have rooted every phone that I had with no problem. But this should be so simple and it's not
When I first rooted Shealth stopped working. Then I was going to just forget about it. But it was something that I wanted to use. So after a few days I decided I wanted it to work. I didn't see that anyone else had this problem. So I downloaded what I thought was the US version but guess it was not. I installed this new rom. Well now I had 2 problems. No multi window and still my shealth didn't work.
Then I thought oh crap I forgot to do a wipe. So I did a wipe and re-ran the rom. Well that is where I got stuck. I can not get passed the S4 Screen still. I can get into recovery, flash the rom (the rom flashes in like 1min which sure does seem fast). I then reboot and get right back to the s4 screen. Can't get passed it.
So here is my question. These tar files that I keep downloading. They are all zip files. If I wanted to flash them via odin as one told me to do I can't because it is a zip. Am I supposed to unpack this or change the extension from zip to tar?
Been without my phone for almost 24 hours and driving me nuts. At this point I would be glad just to see a working phone.
If it is the stock tar file you need to unzip it. The tar will be in the zip file. It will have an extension of tar.md5 if memory serves.
Sounds like you lost system files. If you can still get into stock recovery, then reformat system and then flash a stock rom. From there, you'll have to reroot.

i'M ON 4.4.2 now
Anyone to revert back to 4.2?
You can go down to 4.1.2 (we never got 4.2) but it is not something most people want to try. You can end up in a soft brick state where nothing will boot and no stock odin files will work. Then you have to flash a special fix to make your phone usable.
So why would you want to try that? If you just want stock odin the current NE2 tar from samsung.

2. My device was rooted with the binary count tripped so I can't revert to stock rom *
3. I can't go back to the custom rom that I was on because there's no OS *
* = is this true
Question is, is there a way to either reset the counter so I can go back to stock rom OR get a custom rom that has the stock framework underneath already that I can just flash?
I'm totally stuck. . .and I dropped my phone in the middle of this debacle and cracked the screen
I'd try going into download mode and flashing the stock NE2 tar through Odin...

Cool I'll find it and give it a try
I tried,
I get a signature fail error when I try it in Stock recovery, and just a failed notification when I try it in TWRP. Anymore suggestions on how to get an OS on my device?

You need a windows machine and a program called odin to flash a tar not recovery.

Ok, I've been trying to flash .tar.md5 files via odin and but I get an error message on the phone that shows the binary counter, and says the file is not signed
Did you try flashing a custom recovery through Odin yet? I would suggest trying to flash philz latest version through Odin.
Turn off auto reboot in Odin. Once it's complete, pull the battery. Put the battery back and and reboot into download mode (power+home+volume down buttons at the same time)
Edit. Before doing the above, have you unzipped the tar file on your pc?

Yup, I've unzipped the tar file. I've been in and out of the latest TWRP and stock recoveries with no luck so far, but I haven't tried philz yet. And I'll remember to turn off the auto reboot and see if this method will allow me to get the tar file flashed
Thanks, I'll let you know

So I flashed Philz latest recovery and got back into download mode, but I got the same error message
SW REV CHECK FAIL. DEVICE 3, BINARY:2
I'm going to try to flash the custom ROM I wanted using Philz. . .

SUCCESS!!!!!!
Philz did the trick, initially the ROM wouldn't install but I ticked the update binary option and VOILA!
Philz is my new recovery, and now that I know it works. . .I may even get back to trying out my pegasus kernel lol
Thanks for the assistance!
