My phone is taking forever to turn on. It's been happening since Friday night and every time my phone dies, I charge it and when I turn it on it just takes forever. This has probably been a half hour since it's been powering up. I don't know what it could possibly be. I would do a wipe right now but I probably have a ton of texts from when my phone was dead last night. Has anybody else had this issue before? Should I let it charge a little bit more and try again? Should I just YOLO and wipe and forget all those texts?

can you please provide more details on the issue? are you meaning that when at the home screen, the phone lags on final boot? are you rooted? what version of android are you running? etc...

I have a rooted evo and recently I think it suffered from humidity and high heat when it was left in a ziplock bag outside for a short period. Anyway, I went to turn on my phone later and nothing happened, no boot, nothing. I took the battery out and put it back in, nothing. Tried to boot to recovery, nothing. You get the picture. Dead. I tried plugging it in and couldn't even get the orange light to turn on. I figured moisture was the culprit so I left it unplugged without the battery and by a fan to dry out. Still yet, nothing a day later. Two days later now the phone will boot up and stay running for anywhere from 5 minutes to 8 hours, and then just quit like the battery is dead, even when it charges. Sometimes it will turn right back on by hitting the power, others it won't do anything unless I wait an hour. Whenever it is in this dead time, it won't take a charge, but when it is alive, it will take a charge. Anyway, does this sound like the battery is hosed or is it some other type of issue? When it is running, everything works fine, date, 4g, wifi, etc. I want to take it to Sprint to have them look at it, but am rooted and fear they will say tough ****. I want to unroot so Sprint will look at it, but am worried the phone will die partway through the process, totally bricking the phone. Please offer your opinions and any help you may have!! Thanks a million.

The one on the battery doesn't seem to be, not sure where any others are though.
I think that it might be best if you just tried to unroot... when I did it, it didn't take very long at all (maybe 5 minutes?) I used Good and Evo's method of unrooting, I'd post a link, but XDA won't let me. Just Google "unroot Evo".
But if it is insanely flakey, maybe try a new battery first? I can't think of anything else that would go bad in those conditions...
One more thing: I've herd many stories of people simply deleting the Superuser apk and getting away with it. Many techs at stores like Best Buy won't dig deeper than your program menu. It might be worth a try if it's your last resort...
Sorry if that was no help, best of luck!
First off Happy New Years to everyone. Last night after returning home from our church's NYE service I decided to reflash my phone. The last thing I remember was using Viper's superwipe to wipe my phone (which i normally use and by NO means am I saying his software caused this). I woke up this morning and saw that the phone was off the charger and dead. I didnt think it was a problem so I put the phone on my charger and stared getting ready for church. I am now noticing that the orange charge light is blinking orange (it has for the past hour) and when I attempt to turn the phone on, nothing happens (usually after an hour and the phone being turned off my phone is charged or at least will turn on). I believe I remember seeing somewhere before about not flashing your phone with a low battery as you could brick your phone that way....did I do that when the phone died as I thinking I dont have a ROM on my phone since I flashed and thats the reason it wont turn on...is there a way I can get my phone on again or do I have to take this to Sprint (which im little worried about since it is rooted). Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks and again Happy New Years
Mods please close this as I was able to resolve the issue. Thanks

So what did you do?
From the sound of his issue, he probably let the phone charge. At times the battery can get quite low on an Evo and can take some time to charge especially if you use an aftermarket power cord. (One lit supplied By HTC.)

Almost every week i have this problem with the phone acting a bit weird. First the phone start slowing down or kind of frizzing, next i turn the phone off...and on again. Suddenly my battery goes from 50's charge to 7% and the phone message said i need to charge the battery. I would turn off the phone again...take the battery out for few 10 seconds or more, put it back and restart the phone? now the meter says i have about 25% charge...i plug it to the charger and wait until is 100% and then seems to work fine for another week until the same thing happen again! Now im on FD16 but this problem has been occurring since i bought the phone 6 months ago on stock, so i think is not flashing new modems or kernels. a bad battery ? Does anybody have any idea how troubleshoot this a little further or has experimented this phone behavior. Or should go back to stock and send this baby to Sprint to try to get a replacement?
I just got to the point that i cant deal with this anymore since i dont know when it is going to happen and may not have a charger at hand!
Please i need some suggestions !

Anybody that can help ???
I have the same issue, is not the battery i tried a few batts and still reboots, im gonna wait for the official ics update to see if is just a bug or a deffective phone.
The battery percentage always decreases dramatically everytime you reboot. Android just doesnt read correctly after rebooting.

The only time my battery would drastically drop after a reboot was when I rooted my phone wrong and it would reboot about 10 times a day and when it did I would lose a good 50% of the battery. Now if I reboot I lose 1-2% even if I flash a new rom. On to this guys issue I would say if it has been doing it since you bought it, it is likely a hardware issue with the phone. My old Evo used to do that. I just ended up selling it because I wasnt sure if it was a problem with the phone or just the fact that, that phone was slow as **** anyway!
Hey guys, this started happening a few days ago. Basically, the phone screen will flicker a bit and then the phone will shut off. When I try to reboot it will generally do the same thing almost instantly after the ROM is finished loading. If I leave it alone for about a half hour and try again it will work for a few minutes before doing the same thing. Meanwhile, every reboot the battery meter shows it lower and lower until eventually the phone shuts off due to low battery.
However, when I plug it in, it'll say it's at about half battery life and the problem NEVER happens while plugged in.
Is this a battery problem, hardware, or software?
(It's happened on every ROM I've tried the past few days)
PLEASE HELP!

Does it happen when your in recovery as well or just when your in the rom?
Reason being, can always factory wipe, and all that.. See if it happens again.. If it does.. (Sad to say) Odin to stock. Test then. (that will eliminate phone if it works with complete stock.
Read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854566 the title of that thread is almost word for word your problem. It was posted in general if you had searched before posting you wouldn't have needed to start a new thread and might have had your answer instead of waiting for someone to hand deliver it to you.

So for the last few months, my phone would randomly restart itself around once or twice a month. I didn't really care since it was a minor annoyance. Usually it would be when I was trying to do a bunch of things at once so I figured it might be a software problem. However, over the last two weeks or so, it has gotten worse. I usually charge my phone in the morning for about an hour while I get ready for the day. So by the time I leave the house, my phone is at 100%. What'll happen is I'll unplug it from the charger then will get about ten/fifteen minutes of uninterrupted usage before the screen goes black and the LG logo comes on. And the phone turns back on with less battery. Then, as I go to put in my knock code, it crashes again. Turns back on. Now with even less battery. This continues about five or six times until I'm left with anything from 3-15%. I can't make calls without the phone turning off, can't take pictures. Can't really do anything. However, there are no problems when the phone is charging. I can use it fine during that. I'm almost positive this is an issue with the battery (going to order a new one soon), however I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem too and found a fix?
