Can our camera be used for "face time"?

Isn't that an app for and exclusive to Crapple devices? If it is then I'm assuming the answer to your question is no.

There is Google Talk, Skype and Tango which all allow video chat and probably others. And yes a quick search using your favorite search engine would have yielded you the same answer.

I did a Google search after I answered that just to make sure and come up with the sane thing you found.

Too bad the OP didn't do the same, but it allowed me to get past the noob post limit so, meh. Didn't know about Tango so I guess I learned a lil something new too. Maybe I'll get a thanks (holds breath) hahah

Wow what are question forums for then? And yes before I asked this I tried Skype and it didn't work. Next time don't waste my time with smart answers.
I asked quickly because my cousin was trying to face talk with me and at the moment I had no idea. I knew I had a front camera but since I've flashed several ROMs didn't know if this would be an issue

Uhhh so answering your question is "smart"...forgive my arrogance then... If you needed your answer quickly, as you stated, why didn't you just Google it or go to the play store and do a quick search for video chat? It would have answered your question far more quickly (which is what you needed, right?) rather than waiting for a response from the forums. It's also one of the reasons a lot of members have the "Please search before you post" or something like that in their signature (oh look, a guy in here has it and in a large font and in red to boot!). He's being smart too then I take it.
-Btw Google talk (or Talk as it is shown in the app drawer) has been around for over a year now and is included in a whole lot of roms especially if you flash gaps separately and skype and tango have been out for even longer than that... just search first next time okay? Then you can be smart too!
Edit: I was just over in the PACman rom dev section and saw you posted the same question there and were told basically the same thing I told you but you didn't accuse them of wasting your time with a "smart" answer and they didn't even put it as nicely as I did. I'm no rookie to these forums and have been around here for a few years. I'm just under a new profile. So next time don't try to get "smart" with someone a bit wiser than you and who was trying to help...

Privacy screen

Sorry if this is a re-post, search is acting funny, anyone have any of the privacy screens? Which ones allow the 4 buttons to work properly? I need to keep my gf from looking over my shoulder when I'm texting.

lol at keeping it from your girlfriend. but i haven't heard much of any talk about privacy screens.
i'm interested in trying the clarivue one tho.

If you want replies to focus on the subject at hand, then don't invite unwanted commentary by including unnecessary details or "jokes". As for your question, I've never tested any privacy screens myself, but you can check out 3M's version at shop3m.com/98044049512.html. Also, you can always trim the privacy screen so that it leaves the capacitative buttons uncovered.
Wow, I really didn't see in the rules where it said no jokes, sorry for having a sense of humor, but alreast you gave an on topic answer, but ill be sure in the future to alreast let people know in the title that my post may contain jokes.

[Q] How to remove the crappy lockscreen?

So. I got my 5th android telephone now, Galaxy S2, and i absolutely love it. I have ofcourse, rooted the phone and removed most of the crappy samsung apps as most of them just seem to drain battery.
Its almost the perfect phone for me now. There is however one thing that remains and endless anoyance for me. Was the same with S1.
How on earth do you remove that redicilous lockscreen? Or change it to something else? I dont mean changing the lockscreen picture. Just replacing it with some other lock screen. Like the one that comes with HTC Desire and so on.
Just to be clear. I know how to turn lockscreen of. But i want to CHANGE it. I hate the swipething.
5th Android phone and you haven't heard of Market?.. Widgetlocker or who knows how many other options? Maybe post questions in the Q&A section also.
Sent from my HTC Flyer using vodka
You can try "widget locker" from Market and there is also an app "Agile Lock" that makes the same Lockscreen as its in Sense 3.0 (with the Ring and shortcuts).

Widget locker and Agile lock(currently using) are the best alternatives to stock lockscreen. But if you like to read your facebook n rss feeds then you might want tui try out the Flyscreen which is also free. There are other apprentices as well. But these are the best ones to my concern.

This and the slide to call or text from log or messaging are the 2 biggest things I wish were in CM7 and CM9. I use both features all day, every day. Gotta give Sammy some credit there.

I liked this feature so much when I had an Epic 4G that I wrote code for Cyanogenmod 7 to implement it there.
To all those that complained about Op posting his find, please try to remember when you were a nooB. It's not like this feature is posted on a Wiki or anything for everyone to browse.
-Daryel
Old Epic had it too.
Thanx for this tip though, because its little different than it was on old epic.I tried it on my new epic touch and it didnt work,i thought why would samsung take away such useful feature? But they didnt-they just made it different.
On old epic you could just slide your finger across top bar.But on epic touch you have to hold your finger on top bar for about a second before sliding. Its a little harder than it was before but prevents acidental setting.

Siri Story

For the record, I'm anti-Apple. With that said, I'll tell my story.
So I don't remember how we got on the topic, but a friend and I at work were talking about time-zones the other day. I think we were joking about getting rid of it or something and about how dark it would be at certain times of the day, yadda yadda... Just BS'ing basically... Well at some point during this pointless discussion the question came up: "What time is it in Hawaii?"
Well this friend at work has an iPhone, he's always bragging about it and "how much better it is" and we always have our friendly bashing on each other. Well he's like "here, let me ask someone who knows" and asks his iPhone "What time is it in Hawaii"
I'm waiting and listening... Nothing.
He's looking at his precious iPhone and eventually goes "Oh this happens sometimes, it's bringing up search instead, it must not have understood me, let me do it again."
He says again "What time is it in Hawaii"
I'm sitting there and my smile starts forming, because I still hear nothing and I can see the look on his face.
This is of course when I smoothly and calmly chime in and make a snide remark like "That paperweight doesn't understand you. Here, let me try a real device." I tap the widget and ask my S3: "What time is it in Hawaii?" Within literally 2 seconds, it comes back and the Google Lady robot voice goes "It is currently 5:03 PM in Hawaii" And shows the Time on the screen.
He walked away and didn't talk to me for a while.
Just thought I'd share my actual live experience with the whole Siri/Google (Now) comparison.
