I can't really comment since I am on GoPhone.

I use a modified version of the WAP APN. I deleted the user name and password because they seemed to slow things down. I added the APN Types from the PTA on just for kicks. I think it helps a little but not a lot, the difference in performance could be explained by normal fluctuations in bandwidth but it didn't hurt.

I guess what I'm asking is which roms include these APN settings, so widely discussed in a number of other threads.

you can always add those settings easily if they are not present in the ROM you flashed. It takes all of five minutes or less to add those.
NOTE: I posted this in the General Section as well, but I realized that may have been the incorrect place to post my question, hence I am posting it here. Mods, feel free to delete that post in the General Section.
First off, I have a Desire Z (Bell Version) that I have rooted with stable version of CM 7.03.
I have been problems sending MMSes for a while now. I've looked up the various settings listed all over the Internet, but nothing has worked. I've tinkered and I rebooted the phone everytime I changed the APN settings.
Here's what's on my phone currently (this is after doing much tinkering from the various settings I've found on the Internet):
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: Not Set
Port: 80
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 69.209.11.32
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: PAP or CHAP
APN Type: default,supl,mms
Now after deleting this APN and resetting to default, this is what I have:
Name: ATT
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
Username: [email protected]
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: Not Set
APN Type: default,supl,mms
After going to the default settings, I still can't send MMSes and it's driving me nuts.
Also, I noticed there's version 7.1 out. However, as far as I know, MMS supposedly works fine on the version I have and I do remember being able to send MMS in the past occasionally, so I don't know what's going on...
Anybody have any ideas?
Flash the latest nightly after a wipe. You could also try a third party texting app.

Hello.
I just wondering, I create a new APN with information from my old Atrix 4G, do you think it will automatically disable LTE and will save battery?
P.S.
I'm in non-LTE area and in order for Nitro connect to internet I had to either change my plan to LTE or add new APN. I did the later and it seems to work fine, getting slightly better speed then on Atrix.
Just in case someone need this, here is APN data I've used:
Code:
Name: HSDPA
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username: [email protected]
Password: cingular1
Server:
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Auth type:
APN type: default,mms,supl,agps,fota,dun
Saw something similar on androidcentral, though the settings there didn't work. I think I will try to setup a tasker profile to change the apn when I am connected to wireless to see if it helps save battery?
Just hooked up my new Galaxy Nexus on ST today. Talk, text and data work... except for the data sometimes
Data is slow and spotty despite good signal. When Google Play tries to access the network it fails almost every time. I've found other posts about this solution and tried these two APN settings with no luck:

Do not Mess with APNs, the phone gets those from your carrier automaticly... Try flashing some other radios.. For me xxkk6 or any ug version wont work or barely works.. Only xxkl1 works great for me depends on your zone/carrier and several other factors.. So go ahead and find the basebands thread in the general section, download all the radios for gsm (Assuming you have a GSM phone) get the img files and flash them via fastboot and try until you get a Stable service

I appreciate the response. Straight Talk says you must and, from what I experienced, the APN was not set automatically and though I had voice and text data did not work at all until I did set it. That might be the case for phones that accept OTA programming but I don't think it's true for unlocked phones or when switching carriers. (I had to set the APN on my Evo after flashing it from Sprint to PagePlus because OTA programming doesn't work)
Thanks for the advice on the radio though. I'll try it

Can someone forward the APN settings that you are using on your phone

Depends on your data plan on AT&T.
If you have the simple 3G smartphone plan, you can use the wap.cingular APN which is:
Code:
Name: Cingular 410
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: Blank
Port: Blank
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: cingulargprs.com
MMSC: http://mms.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: Blank
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: Blank
APN Type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: leave as is
Bearer: leave as is
If you have the Smartphone on 4G provisioned on your plan you can use the Phone APN which seems to be faster. My Nexus is provisioned for the later 4G plan and I combined my MMS with the Internet for one APN:
Code:
Name: AT&T HSPA+
APN: phone
Proxy: Blank
Port: Blank
Username: blank
Password: blank
Server: blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: Blank
APN Type: default,supl,mms,hipri
APN protocol: leave as is
Bearer: leave as is
You'll need to check on your AT&T plan to see what data plan you have. If you don't have Smartphone on 4G you can't use the phone apn. You have to use the cingular.wap one. I'm getting about 5 mb/s down and 1.1 mb/s up using the phone apn.
Hope this helps and remember the Thanks button!

Thanks for this. I searched the forums and whatever else thread that has the supposed APN info did not work. This though, works like a charm. :highfive:
Thanks! This APN for 4G worked on my T999 SG3 from T-Mobile that I just put on ATT. I managed to get 3.49 Mbps down from it. 4G icon. I guess this means my Iphone 5 LTE wont be used now lol.
It's not the APN, it's how the mms.apk was compiled. Download Go SMS Pro from the market, disable stock MMS app, go through the ADVANCE Settings in Go SMS. Find MMS Custom Agent & type "Android"
Done & Done.
I hope it works for you, too!

i grandfathered the unlimited data plan on att but lately i can't use my data plan and i am not sure why...
i can use text and calls but no internet connection ... do you have any idea on how to fix it ?
I was Not getting mobile data on my LGOG after flashing CM 10.2, and added the second APN listed here. I just tested, and down speeds are 9.85mb/s down. I'm not getting the 4G logo though? What gives? I've got the H.
