[Q] What does "backup and restore" backup? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

"Settings - Personal - Backup & reset - Backup my data" says it will backup "any app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and other settings to Google servers" (4.2).
What isn't backed up? I'd guess media (music, videos, photos), but what else?
Is there any way to view the backup to see what is or isn't there?
How does one restore from backup?
There's a help screen for these settings, but it uses words like "most" and "some" which isn't very precise. http://support.google.com/android/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1663708

Restore Wireless AP settings from Titanium backup

Is it possible to restore just the wireless settings of an AP or all AP's from a full Titanium backup.
I've deleted one by mistake and it was a right pain setting up.
If you've done a full backup you should have an entry called "Wi-Fi Access Points" in the Backup/Restore tab. Clicking on it an on restore should restore them.

Click to collapse
Cheers... must of missed that when I looked through the backup.

Restore Contacts/SMS Titanium Backup

Well I successfullly mangaged to install my first custom ROM last night - very chuffed!
I used TiBackup to backup all apps and data, and once I had installed LeeDroid I did a "Restore Missing Apps + Data". However, I don't have any of my non-gmail/facebook contacts or any of my SMS messages.
Have I done the wrong type of restore?
No it doesn't back them up, it only does applications as far as i can tell, and your actual SMS and MMS messages, as well as your contacts aren't stored 'within an app' i believe.
I would be intrigued to know what people use to back up their contacts data with though ?
If u check all ur backup things on titanium, there are some "special backup" (i don't know how explain) for SMS/MMM, paired bluetoot, call logs etc (if u did a full backup of ur system app)..Check it, they have the titanium icon..Anyway i never tried that..let us know
[SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage 2.2
is the proper "item" to backup SMS history.
To restore it, you MUST reboot your phone before they are fully restored.

I9000 & Titanium Backup

Just a very quick question, as I can't find an answer on forums.
When running a backup with Titanium which is the best approach?
1. Back-up all User Apps and System with Data
2. Back-up just User Apps with Data?
The reason im asking is if System Apps with Data is not selected, i presume that I will not have all text, emails and preferences that I have setup?
Can someone correct me if im wrong
Thanks,
1st option, backup all user apps. I found it's safe to backup & restore wifi access points also (although not between CM and stock ROM), other system data ain't safe. You have SMS backup & restore for SMS's, no idea for E-email (I use Gmail), preferences should be set again manually just to be safe.

[Q] Titanium setup to ignore music cache

Anyone know of a way to stop Titanium backup from backing up cached music or skip just one app? It is backing up my Google music app. which I have set to a cache of 2GB and making for a ridiculously large backup file.
Backup/restore > menu > preferences > uncheck backup app cache

Backup

What is your preferred way to backup apps and ALL save data between ROMs? I have tibu but I'm worried it won't retain a lot of my save data.
TiBu works fine. Just do the batch operation "backup all user apps" when you flash a new ROM install TiBu and the key and if you're lucky just go back into the batch operations and restore data in apps you ABSOLUTELY need like games or apps you forgot logins to... etc. But apps like twitter or Facebook where all you have to do is sign back in... don't restore data on. Once it restores all those data + app. Go back into the operation. And select the option "app only" then just hit the check and it will restore the rest.
