[Q] Lumia 900 dead, help me please - Nokia Lumia 900

Greetings to all
This is my first post and I hope to be putting it in the right place.
I had a problem with my Lumia 900. After trying to update the firmware and not be successful, a dialog appeared asking if I wanted to format a device, by mistake I clicked "yes". after that, my phone did not turn on anymore.
I have looked everywhere but it seems that nobody else has had this problem.
My phone does not work anymore, it was my fault, I know.
I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. I hope you can guide me on what I can do.
Greetings and thanks in advance.

When the update completed/failed...how much battery did you have? and when you try to turn on the phone...how far does it get? white screen? Nokia logo? ...if you don't even get the power on vibrate ...plug your phone in the power for a few minutes (5-20) and unplug..try to turn on phone again...once you see the Nokia logo...plug in the power again. I suspect a power/battery related problem but I am not sure...give it a shot.

Thanks for answer me.
When the problem occurred battery was almost complete.
When I try to turn on the phone nothing happens, does not vibrate or turn on the screen.
I read somewhere that I should not have formatted the drive that appeared when I wanted to try to flash phone, but unfortunately I read it too late.
If you need to know more, just tell me. I hope you can help me to recover my phone.
Thank you.

I am guessing you didn't update with Zune then? To me format says it all, I think you have wiped the drive completely, Maybe a good read of this may help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605144 :fingers-crossed:

There is nothing you can do except send the Phone to Nokia.
Your Lumia 900 seems to be one of the lucky few to have a qualcomm bootloader, Which you have just wiped by formatting it. Without the bootloader the phone is essentially a brick.
You cannot recover this without sending the phone to your nearest Nokia Service Center.

As I understood, You tried out to flash your lum in DEAD MODE, right? If so, the only ways are to flash it with special programmer via tech socket or send it to Nokia.

I used the nokia care suite but have not found the option "dead mode".
It just does not appear. I only see the option to update the phone.

Hi there, Lumia 900 its an amazing phone l, used to have iOS and been and Android User which is a pain in the ass crashy, there aren't plenty apps but the ones out there are really good, the design on this phone its incredible and feels so good
Audio quality its amazing using regular headphones and others Bluetooth its solid for audio
Battery life its incredible! Just like the official page said its all day long battery
The cons, camera photos are not what any Nokia user is expected to be, maybe so update will fix it
Marketplace not so diversified
Can't use the phone with my car audio via USB sighs* having a 1500us$ set in my car and using the regular 3.5mm auxiliar input its a shame
Sent from my Lumia 900 using Board Express

Try to stay on topic please. Nobody asked for a review of the terminal.

Bricked Universal?

My bootloader was 0.x so I tried to upgrade to 1.0 and now I think it might be bricked.
I've read LOTS of posts here, but it won't hard reset or go into bootloader. The screen shows nothing, no matter what I do. The battery is good though as it works in my friends Uni. If I plug into my PC I get 'device not recognised' error.
Anybody got any ideas at all, ie flash from SD? Is this possible. I'll try anything!
Thanks in advance.
MTTY
Find a copy of MTTY, as notes on attached txt file, and follow brief notes.
Its a way of issuing commands direct to the PDA.
If its bricked you dont have much to loose :-(
Mike
yes it's work!

Thanks Mike. But the problem is that it just won't go into bootloader. I've tried MTTY before and no luck. It just doesn't see any device connected to my PC.

Thanks for the suggestion but as said before it just won't go into bootloader. Appreciate any other ideas?
Big Yella - what does the phone do? Anything at all?
If it's trully fecked, you'll have to get a gold card or jtag interface. But is there any life in it at all? Do the lights come on when charging?
V
Vijay - the only sign of life is when I push the reset hole and the light flashes red. Also when the battery runs out completely and I plug in the charger the light stays red for about 2 or 3 minutes and then goes out.
Apart from that, nothing. The screen doesn't react to soft/hard reset or trying to put it into bootloader. But it was a perfectly working Uni until I tried to upgrade the bootloader from 0.x to 1.x.
Do you think I deleted the bootloader?
Thanks.
If it's not the battery, I think the bootloader it messed up and bricked...sorry
Sounds like the battery is completely dead to me.
Mine did exactly the same thing a couple of months ago but all I needed was a new battery. Had me very worried for a while too though.
I haven't still got my old knackered battery to check, but I would guess that you should be able to get the bootloader up while the device is connected to the charger (and the LED is on, and red)? Not sure if that will work if the battery is totally screwed, but if it does, then it would at least prove that the bootloader is still "there"...
EDIT: Just noticed that you say the battery works in another Uni - I'm flummoxed then! There's nothing wrong with the actual battery contacts/connections in your Universal is there - 'cause your device really is displaying exactly the same behaviour that mine did when the battery didn't work...

Cheers Sub, but no the battery is ok. It works in my friends Uni and his battery doesn't work in mine.

Hmmm. The contacts/connections looks ok. Do yo think its worth taking a screwdriver to it and looking further inside? (I'm more than happy to do that, its way out of warranty)
If this happened just right after the bootloader flashing, I don't think opening it up would help. I really think the bootloader is messed up.
Unfortunately I guess clemsyn is probably right. Shame though cause I was hoping it was just a power problem, which showed the same symptoms in my case.

Android killed my USB connection, please help

There is another topic already open... a few guys remained with zero battery while they've ran Android and they can't start the TP2 anymore. Still no solution by now...
I am in a similar position... my phone charged and started... but my USB connection to the computer is dead (no "unknown USB" or something, just plug in and nothing, just charging...)
Believe me, I've tried 3 different computers with XP, Vista or Windos 7, and three different USB cables...
Guys, I really appreciate your work and I am a real tester of new mobile things... but, please, help me. I've already made 3 hard-resets and still nothing, and... I can't instal another ROM because I don't have a USB connection. I have windows 6.5 original HTC version.
Tx in advance.
And, by the way,,, PUT A MAJOR WARNING TO THE GUYS INSTALING ANDROID ON TP2... NOT DRAIN THE BATTERY!!!!!!
Hey
This is also happening to my device. I'd appreciate any advise, help or just someone telling me, to stop being a nerd and to go and buy the Desire.
Thanks in advance.
hi realy i now battery gets realy hot and drains it fast i think its nog good at al for battery and some maybey whil get a dead battery or it has something to do whit your usb in its own or driver malfunction
ps realy think buying the real thing is still the best to do thats why i am gone buy desire
I bought a cradle with sync/charge + charge extra battery from ebay. That saved me a couple of times. Don't forget to add a Battery to the order. I bet your battery is just fine. You just need an external batterycharger.
Just to be well understood.
The phone is going well, in WiMo 6.5 or Android, I can charging the battery with no problem, but... I can't connect it to any PC... that's a real problem...
Is it any posibility to reset the USB driver of the phone or something?

I have wiMo 6.5 HTC original version. I've tried to convert to factory defaults three times... the same.
I did boot again Android with USB and without attached... still nothing...
I suppose it's a driver issue (it's stocked somehow), but how can I get it in the normal state on another method, another than the tried ones?
I really appreciate a helping hand...

For me at least, I don't get any connection via USB to the PC. In bootloader my device only has "Serial". As this condition seems to be permanent, I can only flash from SD card now. Is it really not possible to change from Serial to USB in the bootloader window?

I'm now on the stock HTC 6.5 ROM with Sense 2.5, localized Danish.
Not really sure, what you mean with the system settings folder. I'm not a noob, since I've cooked and flashed a lot of ROMs, but that seems like a setting I haven't heard of. Please enlighten me.

ok well first of all sorry for late response was really busy with work and all.
ok second i didnt build/create or ever attempted to figure out how the haret loader works and how its possible to run andriod on TP2 but i do have quite some exprience with software and loaders. so my question about what happent if you booted andriod again was because i thought if it screws up your settings under WM6.5 and after that fails to boot the right way.
maybe after another boot which is going fine, it auto-corrects the settings under WM6.5 but that was just a wild guess.
ok third about the system settings option stuff
i will try to enlight you i now run Cell EVO v7 and before that i had the Energy rom WM6.5 both had these function but with deferent names.
if i press start-flag at the bottom left in the home screen. and than go to "Settings" button and after that i press "System" than there is an option called "Clear Storage" and i removes ALL settings and changes you made and returns everything back to the first install moment of that ROM. i forgot what this was called under the Energy ROM but it was also under the "System" button.
hope it will make any difference for you good luck!

My friend, I tried the both hard resest and "Clear Storage", I think the both are basicaly the same. Anyway, none of them produced any positive feedback.
Guys, reading this forum it seems that a LOT of people got a LOT of problems after draining their battery under Android... it seems that I am a lucky one only USB connection got dead... a lot of other guys just got their ... TP2 dead.
So.... nobody seems to have any ideea about what is going on!
Guys, I really appreciate your work, I hope you know that you are experimenting on thousend of mobiles phones around the world... and all of them are exposed to get malfunctioned... some of them for good.
Please, if you get us in this circle of Android... just help us! otherwise I think you are not so well intended...

Nobody has had a "dead TP2" from the android OS. It drains the battery very hard, sometimes yes, but if you know anything about batteries, this also means that the battery is going to need a very good charge again. New batteries are designed to have minimal battery memory anyways.
I had to return a ATT Fuze for the USB connection failing while I was using strictly WM, but i didn't blame it on WM.... I feel like a lot of people are starting posts about these issues who are making huge jumps to conclusion. Is there some hard solid evidence this is even happening? Read these threads on this forum about battery "issues", and a few posts down the line the person is saying "ok, i think everything is fixed, i just needed to charge it" or something along those lines.
I got my external charger today. Plugged it in & left it charging for an hour or so. Got into bootloader and successfully reflashed. Boots fine. Problem solved!
My guess is that Android doesn't have a reserve in place so your battery doesn't get so low that it can't even reboot.
OK, guys,I went at HTC service, after 3 days the phone is again in good condition.. They replaced the mainboard!!! SO, TAKE CARE, ANDROID KILL YOUR PHONE. I SEE NOBODY PUT THIS WARNING ON ANDROID THREAD, although I mentioned it from the very begining.
Regarding me, I will calm down with Android on my TP2... Anyway, what's the point, HTC Sence is the best interface among all the mobile phones. See you on WM threads, bye bye Android.

I find this to sound slightly ignorant.
You're on a website that's all about doing things to your phone that the supplier never intended, jamming things into it to make it do what it never said it would do when you bought it.
The guys here at xda-dev give us some amazing things to move beyond the limits of the phones out-of-the-box, and pretty much everything posted on this site comes with a "do it at your own risk"-warning.
Now you're accusing these people of having "not-so-good-intentions"?
You came to the site, you decided to use what was here knowing full well what that means, so the risk was yours to take. You knew the risks when you signed on, and if you didn't, you weren't paying attention.
I understand and applaud that you're trying to warn people of the consequences, but please don't act as if you shouldn't have known that everything you do with things supplied through this site wasn't completely your decision.
If you want to make absolutely sure your phone isn't at risk, don't tamper with it.
You're right, I was informed about the "do-it-on-your-risk"... and I can't accuse anybody. What I want to do is to put an additional warning" BE CAREFUL, DON'T DRAIN YOUR BATTERY", there are enough warnings on this site of people that got in the same situation like me. Take care of our friends!

Have drained my phone fully MANY times with Android, WAYYY too many to count, and I have never had it kill any hardware. Being on this XDA Developers web page, the "warning" should be unspoken. As many have said before, WinMo does not let your battery drain down all the way to 0%, Android does, therefore the handset will not boot, until the battery has stored enough power again. This is easily fixed by plugging it into a WALL Charger, not a USB Charger.
wow... i thought it was just your average "whoops, bug" moment.
whenever it happens to me, i simply unhook the usb from the phone, hit the reset button on the phone, let it boot all the way into wm, then plug in the usb... it works fine after that.
best of luck

[Q] AuraxTSense_8.3 bricked after one week?!??

Hi all, the very best noob is posting here
I was enjoying the last AuraxTSense rom (AuraxTSense_8.3_Official_OTA_2.2_FRF91_A2SD +...) installed on 29/01. The display is SLCD. The mobile is branded, so I created-and-used a gold card. Everything was perfect until this morning when I noticed that the display was black and there was no way to come up with an image, or text ... (it's almost black, actually I can see that lights just barely).
Since the installation of the rom was successful, I do not think that the phone is bricked, but It's a supposition. Or not?
As described on forums, I've installed the rom RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed to try to recover the mobile: I can hear the sound, the cell vibrates, ... but no more as in the beginning.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
would you mind giving some additional info like does the LED turn on, if plugged in to a charger? Does it turn on, if plugged into a computer?
Can you boot into fastboot(vol down + power)?
Did you do anything special before this happened?
How did you flash the ruu(from zip file or via computer)? Did any errors occour?
Also why would you try to flash a ruu, when you had no idea what was wrong or what you were doing? You might just have ruined it more. There is no way to know, but as it was able to run the ruu, apparently nothing was wrong.
Thank you for the reply.

The mobile charges with charger, and USB cable attached on the PC: while charging, the LED is orange.
When off, I can power it up using the power button: the mobile vibrates and after ~25 seconds I can hear the start sound. After ~10 seconds the home+menu+back+src button lights go on for some seconds.
The display, since the start-up vibration, becames barely lighted. While the mobile is powered on, if not used, after some time the display becomes dark and I can resume its lighting pressing the power button.
While the mobile is on, if I plug the USB cable in the PC a new drive appears; it's an empty (0 bytes size) drive - I have no SD in.
Can you boot into fastboot(vol down + power)?

I cannot say this because I cannot see anything, but when I boot with (vol down + power) the mobile does not vibrate.
BTW I can boot with (power+back), as I have used the RUU executable to flash and it worked.
Did you do anything special before this happened?

nothing special, nothing more than checking the email.
How did you flash the ruu(from zip file or via computer)? Did any errors occour?

I flashed using the RUU, with no errors.
Also why would you try to flash a ruu, when you had no idea what was wrong or what you were doing?

Just followed the instructions seen on another blog/forum.
I can say that the behaviour of the mobile after the RUU update is the same of before.
Thank you.
to me that sounds like a hardware (backlight) fault...
But how could you flash the wwe-Ruu? Your handset was branded, wasnt it? Did you use the goldcard to flash the ruu? Remember to flash the original (=branded) ruu before you send it in for repair (if you do so)
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed
hmm isnt that for amoled phones.
try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869048
and if that isnt working flash rom that came with it and send it to repair.
Yes, I flashed using the goldcard; it was working very well!
The last app I installed was juice defender, the full version, updated two days ago from the market.
I'm trying with the link proposed by madman_cro, it's now in download.
Thank you.
2 things... would it not have been better to post in the AuraxTsense page lol? I've used 8.3 since release and its near perfect, sounds like a hardware error.... screen maybe gone? There was a spate of HTC screen problems
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have had this happen twice on Auraxtsense. Both times removing the battery for 30 secs and then replacing and rebooting solved the issue. It eventually came back to life.
In your case it could be a hardware failure ......
Im trying to flash the rom proposed by madman_cro, but today is a bad day: update fails with ERROR 170
Yes AuraxTsense is a great rom, with no doubt! I'm not considering the rom as the origin of the problem, but it would be nice to discover what's wrong in my mobile
In the case it's an hardware problem, I've asked HTC for assitance...
(PS: I have had no way to post in the AuraxTsense page as this is my first post)
oh one more thing(nearly forgoten) try to read this tread and see if it helps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748498
maybe not the same but simptoms are simmilar

As you say yourself this sounds like a hw error, and such it has nothing to do with auraxtsense, so why the hell should he post it in there.
But it does indeed sound like a hw error. So you will probably have to ask htc, if the prober ruu doesn't solve it. Also slcd brick only happens after flashing a wrong rom/bootloader, so it should not possibly appear out of nowhere.

Flashed! but with no result, same as before...
I want to restore the mobile with the original Orange FR firmware: is there the possibility to do it having the fr OTA_Bravrange_CH-FR_2.22.71.2-1.19.72.3_P_release8xcr7nx2a68060l7.zip file - but w/o the display? (I haven't found the RUU executable)
Thank you all.

Why the hell would he do that? Because at that stage a hardware fault was suggested but not confirmed ... so why the hell not?
If it was a problem with the rom like he thought it could be, that would of been a good starting point!
I had the same thing happen with a Blackstone (Touch HD)
Don't know if this is any help, but I had exactly the same thing happen with my old Touch HD. There was a util I found that allowed me to view the phone screen and drive it via my pc through the USB port. This helped in making sure that the only issue was a lack of display, and flashing and returning to stock before sending off for repair. Not too sure if there's something similar for the Desire.
The problem was initially diagnosed as a loose connection within the phone, and the repair center fixed it and sent it back to me. A couple of weeks later exactly the same thing happened. After replacing the mainboard on the second repair visit it was all fixed and worked well (until I fed it too much voltage from a charger, but that's another story). I'd suggest that claiming this experience as your own and requesting a mainboard replacement up front may be the best way to avoid too many service visits.
You'll know that they have replaced the mainboard as they'll issue you with a new IMEI.
selling it on ebay
Thank you all! My experience with support services in Italy and the fact that the phone has been rooted/flashed, have persuaded me to put it on ebay, as is. I still haven't found the solution, so I don't know if it's an hardware problem or something else. In the doubt, I'm selling it as not working.
Hope I will come back with a new desire...
Thanks to all the forum for contents and kindness

Is it not under warranty??? Its still covered if the changes you made didn't cause the issue ( I think lol)

Although most people have said this is a hardware error (I'm inclined to think the same) have you actually tried to hard reset the phone just incase a setting is messed up somewhere and is actually displaying at 0% backlight. Very likely it won't work but is at least worth a shot before you get rid of it on Ebay
trying again
Hi warlordxxx, having the possibility to use another phone (do you remember the 7650? ) I removed the desire from ebay and I'm now trying to best discover what's happened, as I think it's not an hardward problem too.
I'm following the directions posted on the androidiani.it forum: maybe my problem it's just a video driver problem. I will let you know the result of the operations.
Have a nice week.

5x bricked itself out of nowhere

Hi guys,
Been trying all week to get this phone fixed. Unbelievable.
Anyway here's a little backstory:
I was at a concert, took a few screenshots nothing weird, on the way home the phone gave me a message the OS was corrupt (or something?). and that it stopped itself from booting to prevent damage.
Turned the phone off and put it on the charger where it started bootlooping (untill the google logo, then start over). I got it to turn off eventually. And it never turned on again.
It does absolutely nothing. If I plug it into my PC it says it's a "qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008".
So what does a normal person do when this happens? Right you take it back to the store where you bought it. They told me I probably installed another OS on there (afaik). Which I have not. The phone is like three months old and they tell me it's not going to get covered lol :/.
So here I am, hoping for you guys to help me out..
At least the concert was absolutely amazing. I'm quite upset about the phone though
Edit: oops might be a good idea to tell you guys what i've been trying. I've been trying to follow the "Unbrick Qualcomm mobiles with Step-by-step guide." guide (first one to pop up on google)
It works, untill I have to do something with the QFIL, It keeps telling me it was "unable to download flash programmer using sahara protocol". I'm not bad with computers but this is beyond me. I do see a lot of people having the same problem but nowhere a solution to be found.

I sincerely hope this is not a hard-brick. To confirm, could you try and boot into the bootloader mode?
@thiswealth
Try this with your Sim card removed...

The only way you are going to resurrect your phone is with that tool. What you need to do is find the cable/USB port/driver combination that works. If you're not willing to do that, you might as well trash the phone now.

Given your description of the OS corrupt message it sounds like it was something new to you, so that probably means you've had everything stock and didn't have unlocked bootloader.
If that is all the case, then if you are seeing a corrupt message, it is likely your EMMC memory (used to store bootloader, kernel, android system, etc) went bad and progressively got worse until even the bootloader couldn't be loaded.
Sometimes with EMMC and small areas of failure, you can keep erasing and formatting and it will lock out the bad areas by itself but it sounds like your failure is more drastic, especially if you are just running stock and didn't unlock the bootloader.
I would probably pursue a parallel track of trying to get warranty support from LG. I think the warranty is 1year.
I would leave out the part about the OS being corrupt, because it isn't really relevant and will just make them think you had a bad flash of custom ROM when in reality, if the EMMC started failing, you'd get the exact same message.
With the old phones, they never did integrity checks, so even if there was some minor EMMC failiure, if that area wasn't critical to your phone working, the OS would just give an error in some log file and keep working. Now that they verify integrity, even one byte failure in an area of the system or vendor images being loaded will result in the corruption message.
Basically tell them you woke up in the morning and the phone was black and wouldn't start up, which is basically what happened. You just happen to have enough knowledge to try and diagnose the problem and resolve it yourself, which again has nothing to do with why or how the problem happened all on its own in the first place.

If that's the case there really isn't anything I can do myself? I guess if that's the case I can try and contact LG. I would like to solve it myself but I'm not going against people that have more experience with this that tell me not to

I don't want to discourage you because experimenting is how we learn and who knows, maybe you can fix it.
However usually that is when we actively do some wrong flashing and want to recover. Most of the time it is because someone flashed the bootloader for the wrong phone.
In your case it just happened out of the blue, which most likely points to hardware EMMC failure.
If it were me, I would secure some method to replace the phone. Depending on how that turns out it might influence how aggressive you go when investigating fixes.

Send it to LG if you can. I had the exact same problem and they fixed my Nexus 5x in 2 weeks, couldn't find another option :/
