I have a modded CM10/SGT7 Linaro Kindle Fire. I tried copying a large movie file (mp4 format) that is roughly around 1.08GB and the Kindle Fire times out at around 20% remaining on the file to be copied. It just hangs .. I have to remove the USB cable and hard reboot the device. Is this a know issue with big files? Is there any way to get around this?
Thanks!

Used AirDroid
Tried using the MTP method and the file writing to the Kindle Fire still times out. The only way I could get this working is transferring the file through WiFi using AirDroid. BTW the file I was transferring was a 1.4GB movie file in mp4 format.

I wonder if you compress the video file before sending it over the USB cable to the Kindle will make it work? I saw an example where they took a 167mb MP4 and compressed it to 35mb for a faster upload.

I downloaded a few apps and thought they were going to be in the .apk format but to my surprise they were in the .bin format. What the hell do I have to do to get these installed?

well the only time i've seen bin files are when I'm dling a pirated program like starcraft or rosetta stone or something. Then you have to mount the files to a virtual CD rom drive. essentially their an entire CD's image copied. Maybe for some reason the files your looking for are inside of the BIN ya could try magic disc or daemon tools to check inside perhaps.
turns out I was only having that problem when trying to d/l the files from my EVO. When I use my PC the same website downloads the files at .APK
Strange...

My files app>samsungmediahub>contents>folder>sd>avengers movie
You can move it from there to DCIM and you should be able to browse to it in your computer.

Two comments.
1) the .samsungmediahub folder is a hidden folder. If you don't have the ability to see them using the proper file manager, you won't see it. I use ES File Manager and after checking some boxes in the config, it shows up.
2) The resulting files are encoded ASF files that end in a .pyv extension. This is a DRM'ed Microsoft Silverlight PlayReady video file. I'm not aware that you can play it on your PC.

I forgot. You have to open the app, hit the menu soft key and click the box that says show hidden files.

i'm having problem transfering .mkv video files from my pc to my phone. Everytime i transfer a file , windows pops up "windows stopped working" and then just closed everything out. I tried to transfer small .mkv video files and samething happened. But if i transfer .mp4 or any other file, it transfered just fine. I reinstalled the samsung drivers a few times and it still doesn't work. It will work through kies but i get no audio. The only option for me is to take my microsd out and transfer the .mkv movies over and put the microsd back in the phone. Anyone knows how to fix this problem?
I have the same problem with this, transferring mkv files, while connected via USB, shows an error.
Any solution for this yet ?

Just simple rename your .mkv to. .MP4 file via winrar or etc.
and rename again in your phone to .mkv via file explorer

Do you have Kies installed on your pc? You can go in import/export tab, import a mvk file to your phone and see. I did it that way and it worked. I thought I didn't get audio because of Kies but I got no audio when I transfer it to my microsd card either. Maybe the phone doesn't bluray ripped audio or something. But you can try do it throughkKies and see if yours work.
try another file type not video format.. .txt, zip, rar,or something
This is a windows error type for .mkv files. It has to do with the divx codecs trying to render a preview thumbnail for the file. Google mkv divx windows codec transferring problem... it will tell you how to resolve... long story short... divx codec pack needs to be uninstalled. Then reinstall and disable thumbnail preview... worked like a charm for me.

Yeah I did that, checked the box "disable thumbnails" (but somehow I still have thumbnails) and when I transfer it, it tells me the size of the file is too big. A transfer of 100mb .mkv file worked
also tried to rename to .txt .doc and so on, still didnt work

I too had been able to transfer a smaller file... it was the larger ones that crashed. I uninstalled the divx codec AND player, reinstalled and disabled thumbnail preview at the program level...NOT the windows folder view level. If you do it in just the windows folder view level, you will get the same problem. It is tied directly to the divx codec. Hope this helps you out.
Used dropbox to get mkv files to my phone.

Uninstall divx from your pc, it will then transfer fine.
I just put my microsd card in my computer and do it that way

I was recording a video and suddenly after about 11 minutes of video the phone rebooted and was stuck in the CM logo. Later when I accesed the files via my pc i could find that file with a tmp extension after .mp4. It says that the file is 946 MB. I tried to view it by renaming it without the tmp extension but still i cannot see anything. Is there any chance that I can save the file and not lose it completely.
PS: in case anyone can help this is the link to the file: dropbox.com/s/05jhxuf18rsf522/VID_20121125_023319.mp4.tmp . i would appreciate very much if someone could make it work.

Hello everyone!
I've an amazon fire stick and i'm trying to transfer some movie from my mac to the stick.
I tried es file explorer but it's very slow,14 hours for 1.13Gb.
Same for bluetooth file transfer.
Is there a way to use the usb connection or a faster way for the wireless?
Thank you!
