I've noticed that the graphic scores based on Antutu for stock roms are lower than custom roms. Considering both are GB roms. Can someone tell me why the graphics is better for custom roms and what have they done to make it better?

I think that is because custom ROMs are very optimized for working on our device so they work better tha stock ones that are less optimized, but also you have to know that android 4.0.x is better than GB because google has improved grafics on ICS.
Sorry for my bad english

Is that so? ICS have better graphics? But gaming on ICS lags... Antutu score is lower... Because I wanted to cook my own rom, but I didn't know how to maximise the graphics of my ROM

It depends on what you include in your ROM, less bloatware- means more performance, it also results in less RAM usage, so more RAM is free on your phone.
It depends on kernel too, which u use.
I recommend you to read trough development part, there are alot of kernels and tweaks for out Galaxy W.
u JUST have to decide wether it'll be bad or good for u.

IMO if u like GB then use the baseband ver. XXLM8 its smooth but if you like ICS then use CM9 by arco..

Personally, i tried CM9 and GB and there is really a huge difference in gaming... CM9 is really not that excellent in terms of gaming, but how is the BETA version?

I think the most stable rom for gaming is still the gb because ics for our device is just released and still take time for other games to adapt to our ics based.

I'm not a pro gamer, but imho CM9 works much better with games than stock GB ROM (less lag, more fluid gaming experience).

What gb rom can you define?

GB is the best for gaming
If you are a hard gamer i suggest a gaming rom
There is two gaming rom avalaible in the android development section
1- Simplified GB with SIII look
2- Stock Gaming XXLM8
If u want to have a nice look for a gb rom and play games i recommend the first one
If you just want to play game and the look doesn't matter with you
AND if you want overclock the phone, rom n.2 is recommeded
Press thanks if it helped.
ICS just because its faster and smoother.
I tried games on the GB ROMs but they always have some lag but when tested on CM9 it runs smoothly without the lag that was present in the GB ROMs.

I have tested CM9, but it was just the opposite from your comment
Most of the games didn't work
It maybe faster than a stock gb rom
But when it compared to an customized GB rom, GB is better

I tested all of the customized GB ROMs and the lag was there each time and it was alot more noticeable than when using CM9. I don't know what game you were trying to play but all the ones I tried works perfectly even the big ones like Chaos Rings.

For me, iam running my own rom.
it's also on the android development section
and i havn't faced any problems with it, but CM9 was buggy for me. it's interface is powerful. i know
but for GAMING, GB is still better.
BY THE WAY. I have tested Gangstar RIO on CM9 and GB
on CM9 it was very laggy, freezes alot even when Swapping RAM + Chainfire 3D
on GB it rarely lagges without Swapping RAM or even Chainfire 3D
Assasins Creed
FC on CM9
Worked Awesome on GB

and i have tested Need for Speed Most Wanted which was released few days ago
and it worked PERFECTLY on my GB Custom ROM
maybe in some situations CM9 comes better than GB
but i still prefer GB for Gaming

Thats weird because I tested that new NFS most wanted and it runs perfectly on CM9 the only problem I had with it is its boring as hell and Asphalt makes a better racer than NFS.

Will Lag like Hell on CM9 even after Swap RAM + Chainfire 3D
while on GB it have very small lag without any swap of ram or even Chainfire 3D
also the reason i say GB is better than CM9 in gaming is the RAM Usage of the system
I on my Custom ROM, i can get only 140mb used by system, so i have nearly 210mb free ram
on CM9 i can't even get 150 free ram

I don't make any ROMs or any other things for Android since i'm mostly a designer but even I know the basics of this stuff and why I will continue to say that CM9 the pure CM9 not the ROMs based on it is better than any GB ROM that can be developed now but I would be happy to take that challenge to see the limits of the ROM.

Each person has his own opinion
for me i still like GB for gaming
I can't figure it out so maybe someone will help me (using MIUI as example).
What exactly is the benefit of using JB-based MIUI over GB-based MIUI apart from the fact of having the newest thing on the block? I found only TWO minor things:
- good voice recognition of Android 4+ (I don't even know if MIUI has it built in)
- in MIUI JB you can have pattern screenlock as a single lock. There is no way of avoiding double screenlock on GB MIUI.
So is it really worth loosing HALF of the Quadrant score - I get ~950 points in JB MIUI and 1900 in GB MIUI (which I suppose means JB roms are two times slower than GB roms) and some extra space on data partition?
Did you seriously just write that.

Everyone knows benchmarks are worthless in the grand scheme of things. Except for testing new high end phones (even then there not accurate enough.)
GB MIUI is probably a little faster but no were near 2 TIMES faster than JB MIUI.
Though MIUI in general was never that fast anyway
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
In the grand scheme of things we could just use Nokias 3100 and our lives would not be much different.
There is a big difference in benchmark result between different roms on the same phone, so obviously it IS measuring something.
GB MIUI is also twice as fast as GB CM7 on my phone.
I'm running Spazedog ICS and i'm getting 2100pts
However, SPazedog is a very stable ROM

I can give you more than that on a froyo rom. It still is a fake score.
- Swyped from my Galaxy Note 2
Aside form arguing whether benchmarks work:
A- Aesthetics, ICS is unbelievably beautiful
B- All the launcher features, Keyboard mouse (if you do some scripting)
C- As mentioned voice recognition is great
D- Upgraded GApps
E- List goes on...its the little things that count
And yes, Spacedog rom for the bravo kicks a**
ICS/JB UI is smoother and more user-friendly. camera is better and faster. overall the experience is better (there are lots of improvements there and there that make things much easier and more enjoyable to use)

Have you never tried a ICS or JB ROM? Just make a backup and flash one. There are really good smooth/stable ICS ROMs, and JB with butter is really tasty, though still some bugs. Not slow at all though. Give it a go.

I think people need to redefine the words 'stable' and 'smooth' as well as 'fast' coz I didn't get those when using ICS or JB (with a tons of bugs that, I think, will not be solved anytime soon).

Well, I've tried a tons of ROMs of ICS and JB. A couple weeks ago I tested a GB one, and like it too much, cause there's an excellent battery drain and performance is just perfect, no lag, never. Including with games like Modern Warfare 4, Dead Trigger (with full textures and not overclocked with conservative governor in noop), etc.
The thing here is that GB doesn't support a couple of apps that are only available on ICS+, and I'm thinking onto changing my ROM.
What ROM you recommend? You know, overall speed, great gaming, and a great battery life.
Thanks.
Read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097137. All roms are good depends on ur choice and preferences. So I think there is no recommendation from my side coz it depends on you what to chose. And its absolutely common sense that u have to sacrifice battery life if u want performance. And please dont make threads for such topics. As its against xda rules.

Hello all my xda brothers we have aosp ics 4.0.4 by mmb and jb 4.2.2 by maclaw but no one build an aosp gb and after my opinion aosp gb is the fastest rom we can have....so can someone start to compile it? Pro or Contra and if we reach a high number of pro may be someone will start
