Any way to override Exchange server imposed 3 day sync limit - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

My employer has set a 3 day limit on activesync email syncing -- anyway to override this to "all / forever"?

not if its set by the server. you can go to your sync options and change it if its not a server limitation.

Ya figured -- iPhone has a glitch that lets me get around it. But I suppose if Samsung is the standard for "enterprise-grade" that the software will be rock solid in following server-level rules.

android that wont work its a server side setting.

I know "how" to do it -- I only get 1 or 3 days as an option due to server side rules.

I need to add school email in CM6.

I need to add my email address for my college in CM6 but there isn't an option to do so. I can set it up OWA method but I don't have the options.
I go to Settings, Accounts & Sync, Add account and only see:
Twitter, Exchange, Facebook, Google. Where did the option for "Other" go? Any workaround?
Have you tried k-9 mail app for non gmail accounts? Avail in the marketplace!

Set it up under exchange then for the server use the link you go to to access the email ( without things that come after the / if there is one) and for the domain put the schools website

The domain would be the website I go to check my email correct? I don't think it's the school website.
the domain would most likely be the suffix of your email address.
it is possible that you login with a domain name other than the email suffix. however, if you're looking for the 'other' to set it up, then i'm pretty sure you already have the domain, user, server, etc.
email: [email protected]
domain = mydomain
server = email.mydomain.com
credentials: mydomain\me or it might be mydomain/me /shrug
Thanks I got it to work

You can read the description in the Market. Setting it up exchange worked fine for me as long as you know your login information and the school website.

There is no Exchange 2008. Modern Exchanges are 2000,2003,2007,2010 so far.
I've never had an issue with an android running at least eclair connecting to an exchange server. are you certain activesync is properly setup and nothing is blocking port 80/443 inbound to the exchange server?

I think you mean Windows Server 2008 R2. If they have ActiveSync enabled on your account and the right ports forwarded you should be good.
Are you able to reach the Outlook Web Access page?
I looked for owa can't figure how to actually get to it. But yes it is 2008 r2. My boss has it synced to his wm7 phone s it is really irritating me that I'm not able to do it so far. I odin flashed stock ec05 no luck. It says unable to connect to server.

Is the OWA Url. Can you access your companies email via this route?
Yes. I have tried multiple apps to access and no go. I know this shouldn't be complicated but my boss owns an IT company and can't get it to work on this phone. What else besides making changes to the exchange server is there? For the giggles of it I turned off usb debugging.
Would a logcat of the fail connection help?

I can access outlook web access on a pc. I need exchange sync for the calendar syncing and email notifications. I went on to samsung support site for the epic and people there said this feature didn't work at all for this phone. In owa I can see that my phone is seen by the server. I might make changes to the exchange server itself to fix this problem. From what I read android doesn't have the right encryption to do exchange sync properly with all phones.

We use Exchange 2007 at work and we have plenty of Android devices synced to it. We just use the native email client on the Epics. Does the Epic complete the email account setup process when you try to add the account?

Reset your password on the server and try again. Make sure your account isn't locked out either.
If you have a legit Exchange Certificate leave SSL checked. Otherwise uncheck SSL.
I have tested it with exchange 2007 and 2010 seems to work fine. Try the following.
username try [email protected] If that doesnwork try domain\id example
[email protected] or microsoft\bobjones You can find your domain name when you go to log into a pc press CTL ALT DEL the machine shoud say logged in as domain\userid.
If I didn't enter in username or password right it would give authentication error. The error I'm getting says can not connect to server or unable to connect to server. Thanks to you guys for letting me know that you are capable of exchange sync and its not the phone as a whole.

[Q] Samsung wants to transmit my mobile phone data to...someone?

Trying to set up company email (ie, Exchange) on my shiny new SGS2 and I get a nasty looking license that tells me Samsung wants the right to send my IMEI and other mobile phone data to the "licensors of the application." Who the hell are these licensors, why do they want my phone info and why should I give it to them?
What happened to the Google "Mail" client that's been on every other phone I've used? (No, not GMail. Just plain old Mail.) And is there another (free) Exchange client I could use?
that's probably related to the CIQ issue

Maybe, but the interesting thing is that only pops up when I try to set up a corporate email account on my SGS2. If it were CIQ related, shouldn't I get that license agreement when I set up the phone? CIQ has its dirty little fingers in everything, not just email.

No it's only TW email apk specific. Aosp email does not do this. It's not caused by a policy set by an exchange admin. it states this before the account is fully created and before you get a prompt for exchange policies acknowledgment.

[Q] Email App on GN?

Could someone please give an idea of what the email client on the GN can do? I'm on the SGS2 at the moment and, while not perfect, the built in email client allows to search the server and control the sync via schedules.
Is the Email on the Galaxy Nexus just like the AOSP 2.3 version, are there any enhancements, does it have issues with wake locks?
TIA
I use it to connect to my exchange server at work. It seems the same as the 2.3 app except it has a white instead of black theme. I haven't noticed any other differences. And yes you can set the check frequency to your liking.

Thanks. Can it search emails that have NOT been synced to your device? And can you tell it to push Mo - Fr 07:00 - 23:00 and do manual pull the rest of the time?

Nope.
If I needed those features, i would use Touchdown.

Yes, I have bought touchdown but sadly it supports push on ONE account only which is unacceptable to me. I need to receive push emails from several businesses and would prefer not to forward them into a single mailbox....

Exchange Security Bypass

Since we don't have root yet, I was looking for a way to bypass the Exchange security my employer enforces because I hate having to put in a PIN every time I unlock my phone.
I came across this excellent email client called MailWise.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.syntomo.email&hl=en
They have a built-in option to bypass Exchange security protocol and it works perfectly!
I use aqua mail with no issues. The only thing is that it doesn't sync my work calender.

You have to put in a pin when you open the Touchdown app, but not every time you use your phone.
So it is 100% exchange security compliant, without taking over your whole phone.
By the way, at my company you would get fired for intentionally trying to bypass the exchange security requirements... Not saying that applies to your company, but be careful.

I really like the app called Nine and it also has application level exchange security, but I don't want to pay $10 for it.
I just want to use the fingerprint unlock instead of PIN unlock.

I like Nine as well. Last I check, it was 50% off, at $9.99. Well worth it in my opinion.
I've been a touchdown user for years, but I have to admit that Nine looks really good. Trying it or now.

Nine is fantastic, the best IMO.
I remembered Enhanced Email by pass that before. Seems like it's not anymore now because I have to gain the Ad right in order to use my Corp email with it.
The biggest thing holding me back from upgrading to the Note 4 is this. I just downloaded and setup MailWise, it took a while to realize what steps it took to get the security bypassed, but I managed it. I'm much closer to getting this phone now, thanks OP!

And that is exactly why my corporation won't allow android devices to sync to our exchange servers with the stock app, nor any of the 3rd party apps that allow you to bypass the security..
All of these security bypasses are really hindering Android device use in the corporate world...
