Okay, So i have been searching high and low and have been unsuccessful in getting any kind of data on my phone after i flash any ROM. These are the following things i have tried in order to get data working.
Factory Reset
Flash Rom
Flash Rogers Modem (supposedly the same as telus and bell)
Reboot
Set APN's (tried manually inputting factory settings, and cleared and used default setting)
Set Network Operator (tried auto, and maually selected telus)
with no such luck? So im stumped. I have read that other Telus users have had success and are getting LTE and Data. So im wondering if i have overlooked something. Any Insight would be fantastic. I was mucking around on clean rom and man its snappy, smooth, and just plain fast. Just no Data.
There is no *Network Mode* option on the AT&T version of the rom, i think thats the issue.
Which ROM did you flash?

Issue Summery:
Data signal cycles through HSPAP/3g/HSPA and download speeds are dead slow.
DEVICE:
Phone: 16gb White Samsung GS3 t999 T-Mobile
Carrier: Unlocked and running on H2O (att subsidiarity)
Root status: Rooted
Recovery: CWM 5.5.0.4
ROM: FreeGS3 R3
Explanation and attempts to FIX:
I had been running the phone on the FreeGS3 rom for about a week with with amazing speeds on H2O (aprox 6.5mb down 1.5mb up).
I saw that CM9 was finally getting stable so I wanted to flash it. Here is what happened...
Made a nandroid backup, factory wiped, wiped dalvik cache, flashed rom.
The rom failed to flash due to an updater-script error (publicly known issue) so I restored from nandroid, fixed updater script and started the process over again.
Booted with CM9 and all was well until I noticed that data was very very slow (about 0.2mb down).
So, I tried changing all settings (*#*#4636#*#* / GSM auto PRL etc etc) I even modified build.prop for optimized data. No luck.
I restored back from my nandroid and still had the same issue. I thought it may have been a carrier issue so I waited and test at work on different towers but the issue was still there. I put my sim in an infuse 4g and changed the apns real quick to make sure it was my phone and sure enough, full HSPA+ right off the bat.
I then flashed the latest factory Odin md5 pack and tested, same speeds.
I can see the phone cycling through different data strengths but it will not stick.
BLAH:
What do you guys think?
Also, In case you were wondering, my IMEI is NOT corrupt or wiped.
I think that my modem is the issue.
Will someone WITH A T-MOBILE GS3 ONLY run these commands and upload the modem.bin for me please?
adb shell
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/modem.bin
exit
adb pull /sdcard/modem.bin modem.bin
Ok I pulled the modem from Odin package an manually pushed it. Also did a Odin nand wipe then a full reflash.
Nothing is fixing this....... :banghead:
Has anyone else seen this? Can I get someone besides me to make a decent post here or what?
Flash modem
Modem flashing can be tricky.
Do it several times, each time clean cache and reboot.
Also try at&t modem - worst case you won't have Mobile.
H20 won't let you receive pic messages if you have a ics phone correct? My data cycles when I change my apns on my phone.

Flashing ATT modem results in no cellular reception at all.
Wiping cache and flashing tmo modem multiple times restores reception but I still have the same issue. This makes me believe that the modem is not the issue after all.
What else could it be, seems like I've exhausted almost all of my options.

A single data cycle is 100% normal if you change your apn.
You can absolutely achieve MMS on h2o running ICS. You have to manually set your apns. I have experimented with settings for awhile and have the best ones that work on pretty much all h2o/ICS. (I run a cell phone shop and set up phones all day).
I can post them somewhere if you guys need them.
Ok, I said screw it and zeroed my modem out. Obviously it will not boot without modem so im flashing odin now. Im doing crazy **** people, make some sane recommendations.
Have you tried formatting /System in recovery?

Hi,
I flashed Task and Ktoonsez's Jellybean preview rom, and I know that LTE is not supported on it, but when I flashed back to TuchMi S3X v5.0 I am still not getting any LTE signal :S My data works, just not LTE. I'm "fairly" sure it happened when I went from the JB rom to the TuchMi, but it could also be coincidence.. :S
I tried completely wiping and reflashing TuchMi S3X v3.0, and still only get "4G" (HSPA+) max speeds. Also tried to flash this modem but it didn't seem to help at all.
Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: Oh yea, and here are my APN settings. I tried to delete it and redo it completely, but still no go

You will need to go to settings, more settings , mobile networks and network mode. You'll need to turn LTE back on. Happens everytime I flash aokp or cm10. I have to do it now actually since I just restored back
It seems it puta gsm/hspa auto mode as default rather than gsm/hspa/LTE auto. I don't think AT&T users have this issue as this option isn't available

For some reason TuchMi S3X doesn't seem to have that option for me :S
But I figured it out..
I wiped and flashed AOKP-ICS, changed the network setting to GSM/LTE, and restored my nandroid of TuchMi S3X.
LTE works now =)
Hi All,
I got my Note 2 today, and have run into a problem already
Mobile data (HSPA+) was working when I first got the phone and used it between the shop and the way home.
When I got home, I switched over to wifi to download things.
I then flashed CWM from the cwm-root-note2.tar.md5 file in Dr Ketan's guide using PC Odin.
Then, I flashed Omega v3 via CWM.
All went without a problem.
I was still on wifi and downloading and installing all of my apps.
After a while I turned off wifi and I noticed that I wasn't getting any mobile data connection. I was getting 3 or 4 bars of mobile signal, but no 3G, H or H+ symbol to indicate mobile data.
I messaged a nearby friend on the same carrier and he said his was working fine. So, I figured I must have messed up the mobile network settings,
I checked the APN settings and they were blank, so I put them back in manually.
Still no data connection,
I went into CWM and wiped cache, dalvik and user data.
Still no good.
I downloaded the stock XXALJ1 ROM for Thailand (where I am) and flashed that, did another 3 wipes, but still no luck.
I tried doing a factory reset from the settings menu. But still no joy.
I put the SIM card into my Note 1 and it got a H+ straight away and data was working fine.(when the shop cut it down, they made a nice neat job of it, so the excess makes a decent micro sim holder). So, the network and SIM card are OK.
I noticed that when I first got the phone, the boot screen said "N7100" under "Galaxy Note II".
Now, it doesn't. I'm not sure when it changed.
I also noticed that when I do the under/factory resets, there are still some settings that aren't reset, For example, I set it to WCDMA only to see if that helped and then when I did a factory reset, it was still set like that, rather than the default "auto" that it originally comes with.
Unfortunately I didn't do a nandroid backup, as my phone came with XXALIH (without the multiscreen), so I figured I'd updated to LJ1 first.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do?
Is there a full wipe ROM, or a way to reflash the bootloader and ROM?
It's 3am now, so I need to go to sleep, but this is annoying the hell out of me.
Thanks,
Rich

True Move H in Thailand.
I don't think it's a carrier issue, as I can put the SIM into my Note 1 and get H or H+ data connection straight away.
Also, I compared the APN settings and I have the exact same settings in the Note 2 and Note 1.
Mobile data was working on the Note 2 when I first got it.
Thanks,
Rich
Turn mobile data on in settings/data usage.
I doubt that his data is turned off in the settings is the problem since he already stated that he tried resetting to factory settings.
I'd suggest simply using odin to reflash J1 onto the phone and start from scratch again. This is why the devs always remind people to do a nandroid backup. In case of situations like this.

Thanks. Yes, Mobile data is ticked. I tried toggling that early on in case it just wasn't connecting properly or something.
I've tried flashing the stock J1 a few ties, but no joy.
It doesn't seem to do a full install, as the circle battery mod I installed previously is still there after flashing stock J1...
I'm downloading a stock XXALIE for Thailand at the moment and will try that.
It's still got 30 mins to go, and I have to leave for work soon! So, I might have to spend the day relying on wifi when I can get it
I'm wondering if the change in boot loader has anything to do with it. (Originally had "N7100" on the boot screen and now I don't, just "Galaxy Note II")
maybe APN settings are wrong? I'm from sri lanka, and I had to add an apn for mobile data to work.
OK, I finally fixed it. Here is what I did (in case anyone else has a similar problem)
Flashed stock LJ1 via odin
Downloaded Galaxy S/S2/S3 CSC
Reset my CSC to THL
Now when it restarted it picked up mobile data signal without me doing anything to the mobile network settings.
I reflashed Omega 3 and lost mobile data again. I tried the Galaxy CSC app, but it says there is only 1 CSC.
So, I went back to stock Thai LJ1.
This time I got an OTA update straight away. After that installed I noticed the boot screen had changed back to showing GT-N7100 again.
ROM is now XXALJ3 and the modem is DXALJ1
Flashed CWM and reinstalled most of my apps from Titanium Backup.
Everything is still OK.
So, it looks like I can't use Omega ROM because it changes the CSC and I can't change it back to THL.
Is there any way to install the CSC separately after flashing Omega?
I can not get any radio to work to make or receive calls! I flashed everyone out there and still can not make or receive calls. What method can I use do to get it to work? I flashed radio from TWRP with Factory reset, delvik and cache and then flash with no wipe and I just cant get that or any radio to work. I just get AT&T when I do a scan, which I use T-Mobile. When I choose search in settings in mobile networks, still nothing. When I try to use phone, it always says no network avail. and yes I have data box checked off. It just seams lately any Rom I flash after the newest stock, (JB) I have radio issues, can not make or receive calls. I even erased, wiped everything and started from scratch with stock. Phones works fine, but when I try any ROM, no calls, no matter what radio I flash. I must be doing something wrong. I must say, that I flashed many a Roms before and all worked well until now! I even download same radios in case I got a bad download. I can use kernels, such as Tiberius with Stock JB. I Flash a Rom and no radio, no matter what Rom. My version in stock is UVMC6, SGH T-989 phone. (T-Mobile). I know all phones are different and thought maybe something in stock files I might be able to use, but don't know which files. I am not a dev by any means and thought if I could use the stock I have now can work with the any Rom here. I never dirty flash anything, all Roms work that I flash from sd card, just not able to use phone in any Rom at all! I thought maybe I can manually put in APN, but I have no idea were to get address to enter. I am from Delaware if that matters as far as APN. Can anyone give any suggestions of what they did to get radio to work?

Verify your APN settings are correct. If there isn't a t mobile APN set up than try creating one. Also go to Settings > About Phone > Status and make sure your phone has a valid IMEI number (anything other than 0)

Thanks, yeah after all reading and troubleshooting it seems APN is where I have to create and/or edit! I found APN settings on Google and wrote down the settings that is on stock Rom where phone is working and will try it. Thanks for heading me in the right direction.

I'm in Canada and had same problem with SlimBean ROM (which is my favourite ROM). I flashed phone back to a stock ROM, flashed DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE, the ROM, and Gapps with TWRP recovery (in that order) and was back in business.

TWRP 2.4
SlimBean ROM 3.4

Hello fellow xda members. Well after searching for a solution for my for nearly a week now i figure i should post the question to see if i can get an answer. I did search around before hand and tried many solutions but to no avail.
Background, I have a sgh-t999 that's apparently unlocked since I've been using a fido sim card in it for several months now. when ever I'm running cm 10.1, I have full network access, texts, mms, 3g data, etc.Note: d2mtr is flashed to my phone and my model number gets changed to sch-r530, baseband: t999vvllh2.
After flashing to cm 10.2 RC1. d2mtr. I get stuck on the metroPcs network with out any way to manually switch network operators because the option in mobile networks is greyed out. Everything seems to work fine in terms of calls but besides being able to receive texts messages i can't send them. The signal bar seems to be empty or greyed out yet it still picks up 3g data. I've vigorously checked my apn settings to no avail. deleted the voice+ apk since I'm not in the US being in Canada and i'm all out of options right now. If i restore back to my previous backup ,everything works fine and i did check to see if I loose my imei number after flash.
I previously tried flashing d2tmo to my device but to no avail, assert errors. It would greatly be appreciated to get a response and thank you in advance for any help.
Edit: It's a sgh-t999v as printed behind the battery. I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775616 hence the reason why I'm coming from ICS. Looks like I'll have to reflash using ODIN which i was trying to avoid out of fear of bricking but it seems like my only option now.

Might not be the right ROM for your phone. Or it could be buggy. I've messed around with a few and finally found a great one that seems to be working well for me. I have the d2ltetmo. I'm running Liquid Smooth ROM with 4.2.2 and TWRP 2500 recovery. The ROM roots your phone as well. Any questions feel free to ask. Hope I can help!:cyclops:
I wouldn't flash D2MTR Rom to D2TMO. Too many differing things. There's a CM for D2TMO too.
Are you sure that's a t999? The baseband looks like the one for the t999v.. And it also looks like you might be on ICS firmware.. What I suggest you do is check the model number of your phone to be sure what model you have, after that update to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 via Odin but make sure its the firmware for your model. After this flash your custom recovery, and then try flashing cm10.1 for d2tmo.. If your device bootloops after you Odin, enter recovery and do a factory reset.
Edit: check the model number by removing the battery and it will say at the back of the phone.. And the firmwares to flash in odin are in the development thread

Well after a long process of flashing stock jb then finding a proper method of flashing cwm since i had difficulties with fastboot and went with the dd if-of method using the terminal emulator. I am finally on a stable cm 10.2 rom, d2tmo, where everything seems to be working and intact. Thanks for the advice now i have the long process of restoring my apps and data and what not with titanium backup.
