Unstable Data on Tmo SGS3 After Restore - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Issue Summery:
Data signal cycles through HSPAP/3g/HSPA and download speeds are dead slow.
DEVICE:
Phone: 16gb White Samsung GS3 t999 T-Mobile
Carrier: Unlocked and running on H2O (att subsidiarity)
Root status: Rooted
Recovery: CWM 5.5.0.4
ROM: FreeGS3 R3
Explanation and attempts to FIX:
I had been running the phone on the FreeGS3 rom for about a week with with amazing speeds on H2O (aprox 6.5mb down 1.5mb up).
I saw that CM9 was finally getting stable so I wanted to flash it. Here is what happened...
Made a nandroid backup, factory wiped, wiped dalvik cache, flashed rom.
The rom failed to flash due to an updater-script error (publicly known issue) so I restored from nandroid, fixed updater script and started the process over again.
Booted with CM9 and all was well until I noticed that data was very very slow (about 0.2mb down).
So, I tried changing all settings (*#*#4636#*#* / GSM auto PRL etc etc) I even modified build.prop for optimized data. No luck.
I restored back from my nandroid and still had the same issue. I thought it may have been a carrier issue so I waited and test at work on different towers but the issue was still there. I put my sim in an infuse 4g and changed the apns real quick to make sure it was my phone and sure enough, full HSPA+ right off the bat.
I then flashed the latest factory Odin md5 pack and tested, same speeds.
I can see the phone cycling through different data strengths but it will not stick.
BLAH:
What do you guys think?

Also, In case you were wondering, my IMEI is NOT corrupt or wiped.

I think that my modem is the issue.
Will someone WITH A T-MOBILE GS3 ONLY run these commands and upload the modem.bin for me please?
adb shell
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=/sdcard/modem.bin
exit
adb pull /sdcard/modem.bin modem.bin

Ok I pulled the modem from Odin package an manually pushed it. Also did a Odin nand wipe then a full reflash.
Nothing is fixing this....... :banghead:
Has anyone else seen this? Can I get someone besides me to make a decent post here or what?

Flash modem
Modem flashing can be tricky.
Do it several times, each time clean cache and reboot.
Also try at&t modem - worst case you won't have Mobile.

H20 won't let you receive pic messages if you have a ics phone correct? My data cycles when I change my apns on my phone.

Flashing ATT modem results in no cellular reception at all.
Wiping cache and flashing tmo modem multiple times restores reception but I still have the same issue. This makes me believe that the modem is not the issue after all.
What else could it be, seems like I've exhausted almost all of my options.

A single data cycle is 100% normal if you change your apn.
You can absolutely achieve MMS on h2o running ICS. You have to manually set your apns. I have experimented with settings for awhile and have the best ones that work on pretty much all h2o/ICS. (I run a cell phone shop and set up phones all day).
I can post them somewhere if you guys need them.

Ok, I said screw it and zeroed my modem out. Obviously it will not boot without modem so im flashing odin now. Im doing crazy **** people, make some sane recommendations.

Have you tried formatting /System in recovery?

No 3G or 4G - 1x only - No Nandroid Backup HELP!

So my friend rooted his Evo with Unrevoked. I verified s-off.
He copied a PC36IMG onto his SD which turns out was some 2.1 rooted stock ROM. After doing that his phone could not make/receive calls/text or connect to 1x/3G/4G. Basically an expensive phone that has no phone functions. Everything else works (WiFi included). He flashed http://link.geekfor.me/rootedromzip onto his phone from http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...vo-install-clockwork-recovery.html#post165998.
When I looked at it, he still did not have a custom recovery so I flashed Amon RA PC36IMG. Full factory wiped data/cache/dvalik. Flashed Synergy RC1. Phone still could not make/receive calls and was getting Error 16 when trying to call. Called Sprint and they reprovisioned phone and fixed calls and texting. Noticed his phone is stuck on 1x and cannot connect to 3G when my phone next to his works fine. Did not test 4G yet since I have poor 4G coverage in my area. Cannot update his profile - just sits there like something is happening but it never completes.
What are his options here? Is it a bad radio or something that we can fix? Can we flash a stock rooted ROM and regain 3G? Remember, no nandroid was made unfortunately.
I would try flashing the latest radios just to be sure. And tell your friend to always make a nandroid backup to avoid this problem in the future.
Well his first time flashing. I think he mistakenly thought the PC36IMG as a custom recovery but it was actually an entire ROM.
Didn't have a chance to nandroid. I'm instructing him how to update newest radio combo and seeing what happens.
Update: Flashed latest combo radio. Updated profile and PRL. Still stuck on 1x even after reboot. Is he hosed? Does Sprint have to do something on their end to fix his EVDO? 4G isn't working either by the way.
Update 2: Wimax Keys Checker - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.joeykrim.wimaxkeys says that RSA Key is present. Relieved that he didn't lose his RSA key. Just can't figure for the life of me why he can't connect to 3G or 4G. Not sure where to go from here? Maybe trying to flashing latest stock rooted RUU? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110733
Bumping for some attention.
Hey, happened to me a couple of times, it will come back. Maybe wipe everything again, have you tried ##data# and entering msl key, wait... Have you updated his data profile in settings

Ok, was on the road when I had wife reply...lol.. When you rebooted the phone, did you wipe cache, and dalvik. Then try updating profile? It sounds weird, but has worked for me,without even updating profile. I have had no coverage before after flashing a Rom,also, did just that, and it came back. If rsa keys are present, that is good. If you would be kind enough to reply, whether fixed or not, would appreciate it,anyway, gonna move on...

Updating profile and PRL doesn't work. It keeps attempting to update but it is never successful.
I haven't had a chance to get his phone to just try reflashing a new ROM or stock ROM to see what will happen though.
He says using ##data# and entering his MSL code and changing EVDO to automatic doesn't work either.

I would start over again ... wipe completely with Calkulin's "fomat all" zip and flash a rooted stock rom like xhausx. Once the phone boots up, call Sprint and have them walk you through provisioning everything. Once all is well, then move into whatever custom stuff he wants.

You took the words from my mouth!
Is he Flashing the RUU's or just running them through the computer? Normally, you sync your phone or through hBoot and then start the program, try flashing stock Froyo and then factory reset once flashed, it helps clear out traces of old roms etc. If you need anymore help feel free to ask, I would be more than happy!
I don't think it worked.
Calkulin's Format, flashed Odexed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133379.
It showed 3G but I think it was misleading. Wiped and flashed to evodeck and it went back to showing 1x. My phone has 3G showing on evodeck next to his so he definitely has 3G coverage.
I guess it's just time to call Sprint for a re-provision? Does it have to be on a Sense ROM for them to reprovision?

you dont need Sprint to provision, just get your MSL code and do it your self plus I would do a search for people who may of had similar issues and see what they did. Now if that does not work then why dont you check what your network settings are.. See if its set to CDMA(Auto) I remember my Touch Pro I could of set it to 1x maybe something is getting stuck. I think its in ##3282 you check it and I also remember an app on the market called network that did it for you as well.
If that does not work then flash 3.70 radios and then a 3.70RUU and start from scratch.
He already tried ##data#. He can change his EVDO to automatic but it doesn't stay that way.
Alright I don't know how I fixed it but it's fixed.
Just cannot get 4G now. Wimax keys are present. It keeps scanning and cannot get connect. Previously could get 4G at these locations.
I am running EVO as donor/target phone, my is only 1x speed, no matter which rom I try
Synergery, Mik, Stock-Rooted, differ kernal, different PRL, check the data profile Automatic, Try restore but can not cat automatically update, still need to go qpst to update my profile. I have been working on this for two weeks. I went back to my orig phone, it show ev most of time, the speed is must faster than my evo. Searc all over from goole, still no luck, Anyone any idea to try

i know this post is somewhat old. but Making a back up wont take hardly and extra time! always always make one unless you have 100% reliable roms already backed up.

[Q] Roaming broke please help. :(

I was running pa 2.52 for a long while and decided to try something new so I swapped to the new aokp 4.2.2 rom. I odined back to stock and went through the entire process fresh. My phone ran fine all night and this morning I decided to start customizing the phone. I made the mistake of opening up cdma data roaming settings and selecting domestic roaming. Now I am back in the problem a lot of old roms had where you could not roam. The domestic roaming setting is not sticking. I used to be able to fix this problem by disabling roaming guard in a multibook of fc09. Tried that and no go. I have tried factory resetting and flashing slim bean as well and still no roaming. Any help would be great.

If you aren't partial to your current setup, you could just Odin again and check the setting after that.
Words of wisdom for the future: backup before tweaking your setup.

Are you using the Epic modem or the NS4G modem? If you're using the NS4G modem, it's as simple as swapping the Settings.apk and Phone.apk on your phone with the ones from the NS4G build of PA.

Thanks to you both. I was originally running an NS4G modem, but odined back the original epic modem before the first flash to the new aokp. I did odin back to stock last night and created a cwm backup after I had all of my apps back...... After that I tried to repeat the issue and the exact same thing happened. Just opening up the CDMA setting kills my roaming. I downloaded Roam Control and was able to force roam, but I went ahead and flashed my backup and I am going to steer clear of the CDMA setting.

Okay, I need some serious help with my phone.

After running on a stock ROM(but rooted /w TWRP), I decided that I wanted to install a custom ROM so that I could tether if needed. Well, big mistake. I wiped stock and accidentally wiped my stock backup when going to flash a custom ROM and so far I've tried XenonHD, Jedi X19, IllusionROM, and now I'm on a Stock-Tweaked. So far, every single ROM has caused massive delays in receiving SMS messages and syncs from stuff like gmail.
Data is definitely working, and i've tried both the epc.tmobile.com and fast.tmobile.com APNs but my phone keeps hanging when it trys to send some texts and, if I have texts "waiting" to be delivered to my phone, I only receive them once I turn on my phone screen or only if the screen is on. So what the hell is going on here?
Don't mess around with roms and flash the stock-root injected one via Odin.
Download goo to install latest twrp and then download stock ROM for your device, wipe first 4 options not internal or external and not otg USB at least 3 full wipes then flash stock ROM and wait and you should b good
I installed the stock rom via Odin and still having this issue. =/
It seems that if I go to 4G/3G/2G mode only the issue doesn't persist. Or at least not as much. But then I can't use LTE! =/
Call tmobile tell him you did a factory reset on your phone and that you're having this problem and they will reset the network on their side. This happened to me before in the past and a quick call to them fix my problem. Hope this helps

Network Data Hosed

I've gotten my phone into a state where I see signal bars, I can make calls and send texts, but no LTE or H+ is displayed and if I try do anything involving the internet it says there's no network connection. Wifi works just fine.
Here's how I got into the predicament. I should have learned my lesson from last time I flashed a Verizon ROM, but I didn't, and I flashed SkyNote RC9Z-3.9.1. Data works just fine in THAT ROM, but any subsequent ROM flashed after that... the network data is completely HOSED. I've tried enabling and disabling network data in settings. I've tried flashing the Devil kernel. I've tried restoring several different ROMS from nandroid backups. All restore fine and all have completely non-working network data. Last time I ran into this I had to flash the stock image in Odin to fiz the issue. This time however, that didn't work. The images flashed successfully, but upon reboot all I got was a a welcome screen bootloop of the samsung swirly logo and the T-Mobile logo.
I'm guessing this has something to do with the 4.3 bootloader? I'm downloading T889UVUCMK7_T889TMBCMK7_TMB.zip from SamMobile site and boy is it taking FOREVER! 7 hours left on the download. My thinking thoug is that If I unzip this new 4.3 firmware and flash it with Odin (or Kies if I absolutle have to) my device will start behaving again, and Network data will work, and I can go about ROM flashing and hopping again (though I'm gonna stay away from those Verizon ROMs let met tell you!).
Does anyone else have any other suggestions on what I can do to get my data back or to patch my bootloader to the 4.3 version? I was looking at this thread and wondering if it's safe to follow this procedure for patching once I have installed the 4.3 stock image:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2500823

[Q] Lost LTE after switching to KitKat

I decided to give Kit Kat another try a few days ago, but since then I have not been able to connect to LTE.
Prior to flashing I was running CM10.2 and my LTE was working fine. I initially lost LTE when I flashed PACMAN. I have also tried AOSB/ProBAM and Beanstalk. None of the Kit Kat roms gave me LTE so I gave up and restored CM10.2, but afterward I was still not getting any LTE connection.
I tried flashing the MD4 modem, but that didn't seem to fix anything. I've also heard that going back to stock could help, but I'd rather not have Knox if I don't have to use it. Which stock ROM here on XDA would be the best (Not planning on using the ROM. I just want LTE and then will flash back to Kit Kat)? Would a different modem fix my LTE issues? Is MK3 better than MD4, or are there any newer modems I should try?
Thanks for the help!

Any of the ROMS that have [TW] in the title should work. Full Knox only comes with flashing a tar file in ODIN, because your flashing every partition of the phone. Modified stock ROM zips do not have knox, unless otherwise noted. Make sure to do a prl and profile update when you flash to stock.

Flashed Wicked Sensations last night with the MK3 modem and I seemed to be getting LTE as soon as that booted. Updated my PRL and Profile, and then wiped. Installed AOSB again, and I seemed to be getting LTE until I rebooted. After the first reboot I seem to be stuck in 3G again.
Im currently running AOSB on 2 devices. When I first flashed them, I had the same issue until I rebooted the phone. After that I never had this issue again.

I think that's the opposite of what happened to me. My status bar said I had LTE when I first booted AOSB (this was after flashing/wiping TW). After the first reboot it connected to 3G and I haven't seen the LTE signal since.
I have updated the APNs, but I was using the same APNs for a while and had LTE on CM10.2 with them.

KitKat roms are currently having data issues. You could try backing up your current KK rom and go back to Stock, update prl and backup your DNS settings then go back to your backed up KK rom and restore from the dns settings you backed up.

ohhh i had this issue but i figured it out for pacman and most roms just download nova launcher and when you do create a shortcut on nova ad click on setting an it should say apn once there u open it and youll see where it says ehprd something like that click on it and go all the way to the bottom and change where it says bearer to ehrpd and lte should work ^_^
Ok so I finally got it working, although I'm not sure what was wrong with everything in the first place. My buddy said Cyanogenmod screwed up a recent ROM, so maybe that code was in one of the ROMs I was using.
Each time I flashed back to TouchWiz (I ended up using Wicked Sensations) I could get 4G/LTE. I ran a **72786*, did a PRL & profile update. Prior to finding a working ROM, when I went back to BeanStalk/PACMAN I would lose LTE. After I found the updated BeanStalk ROM I flashed and it still had LTE! Happy days!
At this point I was able to send MMS somehow, but phone was having problems being recognized by the network. I could connect to LTE but couldn't use the data. After I updated the APNs everything started working again.
