Well... you can add me to the "dropped and shattered" list. It was a good drop too. The kind where you almost save it but bobble it in such a way that you actually send the phone a little higher in the air just before smashes to the ground. Filed claim... received email stating phone is on back order... no eta.

That sucks. At least you tried to ease the fall.... I think people should practice bobbling things and trying to catch them every now and then. Maybe old or dummy phones would be good for practice.
I'm loving my TPU case though. The rubbery feel of a TPU is just so much easier to grip. Doesn't make the phone any bulkier in the pocket except it helps trap pocket lint where it meets the screen. I keep my pockets cleaner now

j/k ... bittersweet i guess.
Well when my original note 2 suffered the tragic Left Corner Of Doom break it was in a leather pouch that fell off my hip and hit the asphalt just right. I think the issue with these phones are that the size of the screen makes them more fragile. Its easier to break a full pensil in half then a half pensil in half. Makes sense?

I have one of those slim cases that snaps on. I had one on my OG Evo and there was no way the phone would contact the ground during a fall. This isn't the case with the GN2 since it is so much larger the case doesn't wrap the corners as well. Right now I am ultra aware when I grab for my phone and it will be awhile before using it becomes automatic. I once dropped a loaded pistol with a round in the chamber inside my gun cabinet. It fell about 3.5 feet and it felt like an eternity since it fell straight down and I was hoping the firing pin would not strike the primer.

Do you keep a lot of loaded guns in your safe? I mean, I keep 1 loaded revolver, but I think it would be about impossible to drop it hard enough to engage the firing pin with it not cocked. My other loaded firearm is typically on my hip/bed and is cocked and locked. It isn't good on your magazine springs to keep ammunition always in them. Not to mention the safety hazard of having loaded firearms. Glad no one was hurt.

This isnt a fact, magazines today have springs that are treated to remain compressed and not suffer any reliability issues. There have even been case of original colt 1911's with original magazines and ammo still firing when the trigger was pulled.

I just took a look at my Evo which survived many a fall with a slim case. It seems like its softer plastic around the glass. As far as keeping loaded guns in the safe. If I didn't have 3 kids there would be loaded guns all over my house. I also keep a couple of AR15 mags ready to go just in case...
Front and center is my carry piece that fell. Extra points for the person who can tell me what make and model it is.

It holds pretty securely on my Uncle Mike's Deluxe Basketweave Duty Belt, with one minor exception.... (Continue reading)
Back View (with velcro open)
The majority of the duty belt material was too thick for the clip hook to slide into, so I had to put it into a layer of the thinner leather designed to adjust belt width...
Back View (with velcro closed)
The clip fits in like a charm and the velcro is able to stick. I wouldn't want my phone anywhere else on the belt but the front, so it's a compromise I'm willing to work with.
Hanging on duty belt
This is the small exception to my otherwise complete satisfaction. When the clip is on the belt in normal wear, the belt isn't wide enough to fit into the hook, so the hook hangs down. It's no big deal though, because the hook secures itself in a layer of leather when the clip gets raised (as seen in next picture)
Pulled up on duty belt
So there you have it. It won't fall out when I have to run, but it does have a slight jiggle to it.
and I have my fully charged 1350 battery as a backup just in case!

nice bro, always good to see another boy in blue (or brown/green/tan/khaki/etc.)
if I may make one suggestion to your belt though, keep your OC Spray on the support side. I know it's crowded over there, but you don't want any delay in case of an escalation of force situation... plus you'll still have use the spray if someone is grabbing onto your gun and your strong side is busy.
That's why I got my kabar, jk. I've tried using it weak side but there is no room. We aren't issued speaker mics so it makes removing the radio near impossible. Not like our radios work to transmit. Thank you for serving in the corps brother. Count your blessings with the cargo pants... most civilian police departments don't utilize them for the standard patrol uniform, we'd have to be wearing a tactical uniform to get them, and even then we'd only be allowed to wear the tactical uniform on certain jobs (like lake patrols.) the only pockets civilian cops have are the two front pockets on the blouse, haha. my monadnock and duty weapon make the other two inaccessible.

The sucky part about dealing with best buy is that they make you wait 1-4 weeks to get you phone back. I waited about a week on my original Epic.

I dropped mine on smooth concrete (had my hands full, and the thing is so damn light and a little slippery), landed on a corner. Luckily just scuffed the black off, didn't touch the screen or deform in anyway. A little work with a black sharpie and it isn't visible from more than a 6 inches away or so. Got a TPU case for it now, so hopefully that will help if it happens again.

There is a difference between a repair and rapid exchange.
Repair is self explanatory. If phone is unrepairable then you get a replacement. Takes 3-4 weeks.
Rapid exchange means that you get a loaner phone for a refundable deposit. Turnaround time is 2-3 business days as long as they have a stock of the phone at the rapid exchange center. If no phone is available then its repair only.
I just ended up buying sprints protective case. It doesn't add much thickness and also adds a pretty cool kickstand. The bezel on the case comes out a little though, I assume it is to help protect the screen should you drop it.

I feel bad for all of you who've broken your phone, but at the same time some of you are the same one's who give me crap about putting an otterbox defender on mine and ruining the looks. I've dropped mine twice now, once getting out of my truck (approx. 4 ft) and the other at waist level. Both times zero damage, my case is a little scuffed but that's it. It's worth it to me to "ruin" the looks and not break my phone, even with a warranty you still have to pay money and wait for the new one.
Lol, last week my dumbass somehow slapped my phone out of my hand while transitioning from sitting to standing. And this happened twice within 3 days lol. Luckily I had my powerskin on.

Yep, I hope Samsung doesn't do this again. The original and the S2 both had good screen protection from the bezel on the edge where it really counts.
The S3 isn't very forgiving when it's dropped in any way other than flat on its back. Mine feel from my bed down to the floor hitting a dumbbell making contact to the bezel, leaving a dime sized dent. However, it managed to survive a swim in the lake this past summer!
Mine fell two feet onto carpet, landed on its back, about a week ago and my heart stopped! A couple days ago it got flung off my bed and hit the corner of a plastic stool with its screen but was fine. That picture is going to make me even more paranoid. It looks like its JUST the front glass though. I'm starting to consider ordering a just-in-case replacement glass...

How is that case? Do you like it? Is it too big?
I paid like $500 full price for the phone since I don't have a contract, I'm sorta super paranoid now especially after seeing all the drop test showing how fragile this device is.
http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-SA-30...4608&sr=8-3&keywords=galaxy+s3+incipio+faxion is my case and, I didn't want a slim TPU case since they don't really offer that much good drop protection & I didn't want an otterbox because they are too big http://www.amazon.com/ArmorSuit-Mil...55&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+s3+screen+protector is the screen protector I have otw.
How well do you think this combo will go against regular accidentally drops here and there since stuff happens, obviously not crazy insane drops.

yea but there have been so many done & the end result was that the S3 shattered
protection
I would get a ballistic maxxx for for max protection. Check out this drop test http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07nwZapGL6E . It's a little bulky but will surely protect your s3.
I think you'll be fine. Two days after I got mine I was about to post an embarrassing photo and my friend grabbed it and ran full speed into a wall and it flew from his hand, hit a wall then tile, only result was a little chip in the plastic. I've dropped it naked a couple other times with nothing to report...
I'd vote in favour of a better lip but tbh, I'm not sure I wanna know how these things will take a drop.
I usually have a Seidio Surface case and holster for when I go out. Not as much protection as the active or an Otterbox but fairly compact, if having a case on is ever going to. Survived one drop at an odd angle near my dogs water bowl and landed on the edge of the case...much to my relief.
I have dropped my phone several times on my kitchen tiles from about a height a stove. Although there was no damage, I still ended up buying Ballistic 3G case jus to be on the safe side. From what I've heard, the corner edges are the weakest parts of this phone because of the glass curvature, I might be wrong on that.
I think you have a decent case on the phone that should withstand most drops just fine. I read that most damage from drops are due to the extremely fragile edges where the body and screen meet. That was a major factor when i chose this case. It is similar to yours; silicon cover and polycarbonate shell, but as you can see, it has slightly more protection around the edges.

Two days after I got mine I was about to post an embarrassing photo and my friend grabbed it and ran full speed into a wall and it flew from his hand, hit a wall then tile, only result was a little chip in the plastic. I've dropped it naked a couple other times with nothing to report...

so should I get a new case or just stick with this case?
Let me just say I've dropped mine several times and it's fine. Drop tests are kind of dumb unless a device is incredibly fragile. A lot of it depends on the surface you drop it on, and the angle it hits the ground at, you could shatter either the iPhone 5 or the GS3 by dropping it from pocket height on concrete if it hits the ground wrong.

That's a matter of preference. How comfortable are you with your current case? I'm guessing you have some doubts considering this thread.
And, since you're asking, personally, I would go with a different case. I also bought the phone off contract so I definitely understand the need to protect it as much as possible.
I feel like the back and side have good protection but I don't think the front lip is not high enough but it wouldn't really matter if it falls on a flat surface since it would hit the front ridges first right? I placed like a pen like across the phone n it touches the side ridges n not the phones glass, so there is a tiny gap

Better safe than sorry when it comes to a $500 phone. Do you at least have insurance just in case?
No not really i don't drop it often but accidents do happen. My s2 died on a drop after a year of ownership, that phone never had a scratch on it n I only had a soft gel tpu case on it but last week when I dropped it from my table it went in a rebooting loop that I couldn't fix even when I tried to restore, flash back to stock rom etc so I conclude that drop on my s2 screwed up some internal hardware so that's why I got a medium end case for this s3 instead of the tpu slim case but eyyy idk lol

No I bought it off cl so no insurance

It really depends on your life style and where you work. I have a Otterbox defender, Oem Flip case, Oem leather pouch and I tpu case, my Otterbox is what I used the most, mail for my job (construction) the others I use when I plan not doing any big activities (sports), so it's really hard to say if you need another case or not, it just depends how confortable you feel,

If you're worried add insurance to your plan.

Are you guys comfortable with it? I keep seeing posts not only in this forum of it cramping peoples hands etc etc.....
I'm not finding it that hard to hold, one handed operation can be challenging once in a while especially when reaching for that top left portion of the screen but no biggy.
How many people are finding it uncomfortable to hold this device. I'd also like to suggest..

lol.
It took me a couple days to get use to.
The right case makes a big difference on how it feels in hand.
I wont be going back to smaller size device that's f,sure.
To hold it in one hand, I support it with my pinky from the bottom so I can reach the bottom of the phone to type. It mostly gives cramps to my hand but not a big deal. I had the same issue with my sgs2.
But 2 handed operation is excellent.
Actually I got used to this phone's size so fast that I started to feel the screen is still small. so I grabbed my sgs2 and played it a while. I felt amazed again to hold my note2
This is why I'm trying to avoid the candyshell hard cases or forget the otter box. I want something as slim as the device and still offer decent protection. I'm hoping the seidio surface does the job and hardly adds size. I ordered one last night.

Looks good, wonder if they have them at the sprint stores? I didnt even think of this I figured they'd have the sprint branding all over them.
I had to remove the slim case l bought. Otherwise, without a case, it's been totally fine.

I picked up my epic just to play with and immediately decided its to small "the epic that is" I love the feel of the note2 but I use the spen alot so onehanded is pretty much non existent for me but when I do I still feel comfortable with it and I do not have large hands lol. But like someone said use your pinky to help support it.

I love mine and really enjoy the bigger screen (coming from SGSII). I'm putting a FlyGrip on it which will make it easier for one-handed use AND it will prevent it from falling out of your hand(s). Check them out. I absolutely love my FlyGrip on my SGSII. Highly recommend it.

Yeah they stock in store.
Sprint gave up branding accsessors..heck their GN2 doesn't have any branding which is great.
Now they they need to fix CS and data speeds lol
A lot of women love using the Notes and I've never heard them complain about hands cramping. Just saying...
Using it for the past few days i don't think i could go back to the gs3. Just feels to small

I came over from the iPhone 4S, which I still have to use as my work phone , and using the iPhone now it feels absolutely uncomfortably small. I have zero issues with the size of the note at all.

As long as you didnt break your nails....
It took me all of a day to get used to it, and I have average-sized hands. I try to use it two-handed when I can, but with one-handed operation, it's a pretty simple task, especially with Swype.
