Hey guys. I have my Note 2 for a few days now and I am coming from a MT4G. I installed Go SMS on the note 2 and restore the old settings I have from MT4G. My problem is how can I restore the old SMS I have. I have the restore file located from my old SD and moved them to the phone storage within GO Sms folder but I can seem to figure out how to restore the messages to the new phone. Thanks for the help in advance.
Edit: Also my 1st post Strong long time lurker but just reading and not registering.

[Q] Titanium back up, restoring contacts, people app not working.....HELP!!!!!>>>>>
Right a long day this has been, I have moved from one Leedroid rom to another today (a gingerbread one).
Did a titanium back up before I flashed and now cannot restore my contacts.
When I do by restoring those two green icons such as contacts/calls and the messages one then the people app does not work at all.
Little help on what I need to do would be much appreciated.
And unfortunately they are not backed up through google.

Did you restore only data or app+data in titanium?
Make sure you restored app+data.
Been there, done that.
Didnt work, best solution me thinks is restore the Nandroid back up, export contacts to sd and do it all over again unless someone has a better solution.
Wont do it now because im drunk.
Hi
I'm running XJ's MIUI Rom.
After I installed this rom and restored back all data etc some of my SMS are faulty.
I now have 5 SMS that I can't delete in any way. They are now dated Jan 1 1970. LOL...
Does anyone know a way that might work to delete these SMS that are not delete able?
//Kensy
are you sure they are not locked messages?
Late version of the millennium bug.. ...sorry. couldn't tell you what's wrong.. ..if not a locked message, have you installed a different sms program? Maybe just a reflash is needed?
HTC Desire
The SMS/Thread is NOT locked. Even when I choose to delete it, it does not get deleted.
The SMS that can't be deleted is dated Jan 1, 1970, wierd!
I did a restore with Titanium Backup (Migrated from other ROM).
But can I backup individual SMS and re-flash the ROM and then restore selected SMS?

You could with sms backup + in that it moves all sms to an SMS label in gmail. Then delete the sms "e-mails" from gmail and then restore.
Shouldnt have to reflash the rom. Perhaps just clear data on the messaging app.
Tried all that with no results!
BUT... I did a re-flash of the ROM. Restored and everything OK.
BUT... As soon as I try to delete SMS threads, they all go deleted but remains EMPTY with date Jan 1, 1970 !!!
So, the problem is when I try to delete whole threads. They get stucked.
I can delete SMS in a thread but not the thread itself! Damn...
What to do now?
Edit:
Problems solved!
I made a backup with MIUI backup. Deleted the SMSMMS file in /data/data etc etc.
Then restored SMS with MIUI backup and now it seems to work! yay

Thx a lot.
I've done this and restored thread list to its normal state.
Okay, well I have a noob question. I have a Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch. A week ago I flashed Starburst 1.9 and everything went smooth installing wise. Followed install instructions by wiping data. The one thing that bummed me was losing all my contacts(but backed up by gmail account) and losing all my text messages. Apps lost I could live with.
So my question is, how do I back up my texts, contacts, etc and restore them easily? I want to flash Calkulin's ROM and I'm just going to install his FORMAT ALL zip then flash the ROM.
Any advice is appreciated!
Your contacts should automatically restore (if backed up in your Gmail) when you add your Google account in the new ROM. For backing up texts I personally use SMS Backup & Restore on the Android Market.
Go SMS also free from the market and a great SMS app (in my opinion) also has a backup feature to back up and restore your messages.
Thanks guys. Downloaded the app.
Noob questions again, are there any bad "side effects" using the above app. Also, how do I get the texts back after backing them up? CMR then use install zip from sd card after flashing rom...correct?
Thanks!
With Go SMS it is within the app itself, I haven't done it in a bit so do not remember the exact steps.
If I remember right it is menu, then something about a batch. It isn't too hard to find if you play around with the app.
Good luck
I bought my SGH T989 a few days ago and at the store the reps transferred my contacts from my old phone (old verizon smart phone). Today I rooted and installed Juggernaut 4.1 ROM on it, and to my dismay, none of my contacts are in there anymore.
Are they still in my internal SD card? I can't seem to find them. I had done a backup of all my apps in Titaniumbackup as well as a nandroid backup of the stock ROM. Is there any way to recover my contacts either with Titaniumbackup or would I have to go back to the old stock ROM, export my contacts, then flash Juggernaut again?
I had just assumed my contacts were stored on my SIM card and they would have been there after the new ROM was flashed
If they did a "Transfer" they were not on your sim they were in phone memory, and if you flashed a wipe ROM they are gone ...
One reason it is best to save/transfer your contacts to google, that way they are in the cloud and sync back to your phone when you set it back up after a flash ...
There may be some contacts in the sim, but that is not where they are "normally" stored ...
Thanks for the response. Would doing a restore to my nandroid backup bring them back? I'm guessing going back to the t-mobile store and asking if they can transfer the contacts again is out of the question. Looks like I'll be entering these contacts in by hand. /Sigh

OH, if you have a nandroid, that should put them back , but it will also put you back to the ROM you had before ....
Hi, I rooted my phone yesterday and now I'm trying to put back all apps, but I have a small big issue
I have a msgstore.db.crypt7 file on my PC with all my old messages. When I switched from an M7 to M8, I used that to restore my messages and it worked. Now for some reason, WA won't restore my backup. I have the file in the Databases folder, it just does nothing. Also, if I try to back up the conversations I have now (a grand total of 2 messages xD) and I re-install WA, I get to restrore them :|
Basically, old backup (I have 3, none works) doesn't work, new ones do. Why?
I have the same problem. Moving to sd card made no change.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
