I got the SGSN2 two days back, and the gesture way of taking screenshot seeing litle awkard. I tried waving my palm over the screen and sensor and it didnt capture. Went to the shop from where I got and they said to touch the screen and swipe. I did and lots of apps gets opened. Sometimes, my screen gets captured. I felt captuing from pressing Power + Home is good and using S Pen and taking screenshot. Anyone got any idea how to taking screenshot by waving of hand as shown in video witih ease?
I've had no issue with it. As long as you use the side of your hand, lay it flat on the screen, and swipe it works every time just fine. Are you using your whole palm?

+1, turn your hand on the side. Don't use your palm. Put it in the middle and swipe left or right. Done.
Oh and its not nesessary to use red letters. We can read white just fine.
It actually burns my eyes to read it in red....

Can anyone tell me where the setting is that blacks out the screen during a call?
What happens is when I make a call and navigate away from dialer it will black out the screen and not let me poll down the dialer again before it blacks out again.

Is your hand in front of the sensor on top of your phone? Sometimes when I even shadow it a little bit, it will turn the screen off.
Hmmmm, I see the sensor now. Ya know I might just be blocking it when trying to drag down the top bar. Next time it happens Ill try avoiding it to see.

Well just like on the Vibrant if u swipe across the top of the screen left to right you can control the brightness. For some reason when swiping from left to right to turn brightness to max, it makes my screen go black like it has been locked and i have to press the power button to wake the phone back up. Has anyone else noticed this??? I doubt its supposed to do this....
I didn't notice this, don't think it happens on my phone
Seems like i may have another reason besides the lines in my screen to do an exchange.
I have the glitch too

^^good to know im not alone. Its weird man, Its super convenient to be able to use it, but not if it locks the phone each time i want to brighten my screen.
I can duplicate this when viewing a pdf but not from the home screen.

Works fine for me. I did it as soon as I read the op haha
Edit: Although, if I go too fast, I can replicate the black screen.

I have the glitch too. I read that AT&T and Samsung were already pushing out updates to their SGS2 to fix "annoyances"..hopefully they will push updates to our phones soon as well.

ok i purposely did this in a room with all the lights off and the screen actually doesnt turn off, instead it turns dark gray and u can see what appears to be "burn in" maybe? The square line around my Clock widget ,the line across the row of icons at the bottom and also notification bar line are all easily visible. This isnt good at all... Please someone try to replicate this in a completely dark room to see if the results are the same.
Will do later today.

Not sure if this is a fault, a setting I can change, or just me, but whenever I am using my phone to call a company where menu choices are required (Press 1 for x, press 2 for Y etc etc) I always find that when I put the phone back to my face, the screen doesn't switch off quick enough and I always end up making additional unintended entries as the screen touches my cheek.
Manually turning the screen off is no good, because then when I take it away from my face again, it doesn't re-activate and thus becomes a chore.
Has anybody else experienced this?
Yes, and I think it happens during calls also.

Press the top of the phone to your ear before the rest touches your face. That's where the proximity sensor is located.

Yup. Or hit the power button to turn off the screen while in the same motion of bringing your phone back to your face.

Hi guys,
Did any body nanaged go get this function working. Even though the appropriate setting is ticked I can't get the the phone light up when switched off!
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I hope ur not turning the phone off while testing this function. .. The screen had to be locked. ..
Anyway. .. You have to swipe your hand over the light sensor while screen is off
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Place the phone on flat surface after locking it.
Now swipe your hand over your phone screen from top to bottom without touching the screen.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Just hover your hands over the light sensor, but you have to do it kind of slowly and also it response at least 1s after you have hovered your hand over your phone. It's not really that useful of a function, more of a gimmick.
I do want to ask, do these motion functions really drain the battery a lot? As this means the motion sensor is always on.

Its a cr*p feature -- or at least the implementation is. You need to sort of hover or cup your hand over the sensors and move it away slowly. Then sometimes it 'works', which means if you do it right about a second or two later the screen slowly wakes up and shows some info. All this takes 4-5 seconds, in which time you could have quickly switched the screen on and off anyways in lesser time.
Gimmick, as someone has pointed out above.
Not only your hand, but anything that cover the light sensor.
Try to calibrate the gyroscope

Hi, this is my first post here.
Please try to calibrate your gyroscope
To do this go to Advance settings and calibrate it.
I have question too about this QUICK glance (but actually slow glance)
I like this to use to check the time specially during night.
But it is really not quick when I use mine and my friend sister told me that hers is fast.
Does somebody know how to do it make it fast?
kind of a useless feature IMO. doesn't display much in the quick glance screen. much easier to just press the home key.
Yeah, ur right the home button is faster. But I dont believe this is crap feature, it depends in situation. In my side I use this glance feature during night and wake up to check the time not hurting the eye for glare. And in theater also you can use this to check the time, it is really respectfull if you try not to distract others inside the theater.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I think it's useful for checking the time at night.
I just quickly pass my hand over the front and a second later time is illuminated for a few seconds
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
guys, it works fine. just hover your hand in front of the sensor just in and out just like that all in less than1 second for me. it works everytime perfectly. very convenient. can someone confirm if this drains massive amounts of battery or negligible.
After trying the feature several times -- during which it did not work -- I then went in and did the gyroscope calibration. Then went back in, turned Motion on, and turned Quick Glance on. Now it works.
It was working for me up until last week, now my light sensor and or my proximity sensor seem to have stopped working all together. I am unable to get it to work at all. Is there any way to increase the light sensor sensitivity?
Works fine here.
Послато са GT-N7100 користећи Тапаток 2
It works just fine, but my problem is I like to have a screen timeout of 10 minutes, and manually turn my phone off when I want. Half the time I would click it off and set it down, it would immediately wake back up because my hand was over/near the sensor as I set it down.
Works perfect here whatever screen timeout I have set.
Remember that the phone had to be perfectly still and possibly on a level surface for it to work.
Regarding using battery I've read that the n2 has a slower processor dedicated to the motion features do doesn't fire up the main processor when using these features.
Sent from my Samsung Note II.
This feature is ok, but it's something a lot of people can live without. It'd be more impressive for us if Samsung extended this to other controls in their main apps, such as allowing this gesture when you receive a call. Wave your hand over the phone and it'll automatically pick up the call in speakphone mode. The Pantech Sky Vega had this feature when it launched last year and something like this is super useful if you're working with your hands (getting them dirty).
http://youtu.be/dG8tfaJswuY
It works for me to.
It also works for the flip cover. So when I just open the cover the glance appears then swipe the screen to unlock..no hard buttons to push
The question though.
I how can we tell if it does drain the battery.?

I have lower screen sensitivity in the bottom right corner where the letter L is and the Enter is. Sometimes it will take tree taps to get the letter l to show up on the screen while for everything else it works with barely touching it. Do you guys have this as well? Some people have reported this as well.
The weird thing is that when drawing, that part of the screen works just fine with finger or the s pen, its only noticeable when pressing...
Does anyone know how to calibrate the screen? It was in the setting before but now i can't find it.
I have noticed the same

Yeah, same with mine, the letter "K" on my screen.
I think it's a defect.
Removing the screen protector obviously makes it MORE sensitive, but I still think it is a defect and had nothing to do with the screen protectors...

I also had that same problem. When i would continuously tap the L button it would just stop responding but if i go the S pen out and started to tap it with the pen it would work fine. I took it to the shop I got if from and they replaced it with one where the S pen wouldnt work properly on the bottom right side of the screen so they replaced it yet again and now i have a phone that is fine all except the notification LED is not as bright as all other note 2's i compare it with........Must say i love the phone but Samsung NEED to be more consistent with their quality control of their phones
Me too. My device different is when i swipe in portrait keyboard swipe works fine in my l and enter. Samsung must solve.
Hi guys. Same problem here.
I've noticed a lack of responsiveness on the right bottom part of the Capacitive screen on my Note II. This happes randomly when I tap on the "Menu" icon or when texting on the "Enter", "L" or "Delete" button. As said, you tap but the Note doesn't recognize the touch. It's a mess specially when writting.
Is it then a hard or soft problem? Shall it be solved with any future update or I should go and return my Note?
Did u try any other keyboard. Its the software bug.
