Can anyone tell me where the setting is that blacks out the screen during a call?
What happens is when I make a call and navigate away from dialer it will black out the screen and not let me poll down the dialer again before it blacks out again.

Is your hand in front of the sensor on top of your phone? Sometimes when I even shadow it a little bit, it will turn the screen off.
Hmmmm, I see the sensor now. Ya know I might just be blocking it when trying to drag down the top bar. Next time it happens Ill try avoiding it to see.

i don't think they'd work if you did that
Ohh,ok. Yea I just get annoyed with them, sometimes

These leds are tied to the keyboard light timeout.
Settings ----> Display ----> Keyboard Timeout
Set this to 3 seconds and voila...lights go bye bye.
Let me know if this helps.
i know what you mean but 3 seconds isnt that bad.
There should be an app on the market called no led, works for the hero may not work for the epic but worth checking out...
I was browsing the web and all of a sudden the whole screen went green. It was a tinted green where i could still use my phone. But holy crap. Idk what happened.
I found others with a similar issue:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Samsung-Galaxy-S2-screen-Issue/124708717610574
I can't reproduce the result, but it happened twice. I did a screen test by going to *#0*# and all is well from that test.
I think it might be the "Split View" option in your text messages.
That's all I can think of for the screen having an issue like that.
But I keep rotation off and was just browsing

Does anyone know what is the little red light that comes on occassional on the upper left part of the phone casing?
Just to be clear, its not the phone charging light, it is on the left hand side.

If you call someone, you will see a red glow from the top left, this is where the proximity and ambient light sensor are housed.
Enable Face Unlock, then try to unlock your phone in complete darkness, you will see that little red light comes on to the left of HTC logo.
NotifierPro can cause it to remain on.
All of a sudden my proximity led is on consistently.
Any ideas why? I don't have any apps or processes open that would cause it.. at least I think I don't.

It shouldn’t be ON all the time. There must be some background app causing it, if not try restarting the phone.
Hard reset, that should clear it up

Mines on constantly now too. Resetting didn't help.
Running Android 4.1 JB & faux kernel.
I've been noticing, specially in a dark room, that when I use the stock messaging app (just when I'm about to reply or reading a text) the proximity sensor turns on. I can tell because it shines a faint red. And the same happens if I start a call, naturally.
I've switched back and forth with different apps, and when leaving the messaging app it turns off, and back on when I return to it. Anyone else have noticed this?
Thanks
Is your settings\motion\direct call switched to on? If so, that sensor lights up to use that option by checking when you put your phone to your head. It'll show up if you pull up a contact's information as well (but not if you're looking through the list).

So I see, I tought it was a bug or something. Actually What most concerns me is the impact on the battery comsumption. It's a good idea to leave it on?
And thanks!

Glad to help. Haven't noticed a big drain from it but haven't turned it off to see for a while.

For some reason all of a sudden this red sensor light just stays on consistently all the time when my phone is off. Has this happen to anyone else? And if so is their away that i can stop this?

does it happen while charging only or always

It just stays on when my phone is off but it's dim. Maybe i'm going to have to take it to sprint for a tech to look at it.

Isn't that the motion sensor? So the phone can detect your hand or face etc near the phone for certain things.

I think that is normal since mine also does that. It is some sore of sensor. Sort of creepy...
If you go to settings and then to the motion settings, uncheck the option for quick glance and this should fix yalls issue.
Ok, so your yours does the same thing also? But it didn't do that before i don't thing.

That's one of the sensors. It can be disabled under the motion settings.
My sensor did this one before also....a reboot solved it for me though

I just turned on the Quick Glance feature and the faint red glow came on. I can't use this feature however because I use the flip case, so I turned it back off and the red glow went away.
Thanks for the help people.. i now know actually why the red light stays on for the quick glance feature. It stays on so you can run your hand over your screen when it's off so you can see the time for an brief moment.
