Well just like on the Vibrant if u swipe across the top of the screen left to right you can control the brightness. For some reason when swiping from left to right to turn brightness to max, it makes my screen go black like it has been locked and i have to press the power button to wake the phone back up. Has anyone else noticed this??? I doubt its supposed to do this....
I didn't notice this, don't think it happens on my phone
Seems like i may have another reason besides the lines in my screen to do an exchange.
I have the glitch too

^^good to know im not alone. Its weird man, Its super convenient to be able to use it, but not if it locks the phone each time i want to brighten my screen.
I can duplicate this when viewing a pdf but not from the home screen.

Works fine for me. I did it as soon as I read the op haha
Edit: Although, if I go too fast, I can replicate the black screen.

I have the glitch too. I read that AT&T and Samsung were already pushing out updates to their SGS2 to fix "annoyances"..hopefully they will push updates to our phones soon as well.

ok i purposely did this in a room with all the lights off and the screen actually doesnt turn off, instead it turns dark gray and u can see what appears to be "burn in" maybe? The square line around my Clock widget ,the line across the row of icons at the bottom and also notification bar line are all easily visible. This isnt good at all... Please someone try to replicate this in a completely dark room to see if the results are the same.
Will do later today.

...while on the phone? The screen goes black in a matter of seconds and isn't affected by the general timeout setting. This can be a real PITA while navigating a VRU system.
Have you tried going into settings/display/screen timeout?

That is the general timeout setting I was referring to, and it doesn't affect screen timeout while on the phone.
That's strange it shouldn't be timing out on you then. Maybe check the settings on the application your using and see if theres a reason it might be shutting off then.
i know when i had the mt4g and even my current G2x the display would turn off while talking on the phone then re-appear anytime i held it away from my head, probaly just the sensor.

Mine does this too.. If I am on a call, the screen turns off rather quickly. I need to be able to toggle the mute during conference calls and it is a real PITA to have to hit the power button first every time.

Pain in Le Tush!
This sounds like a really stupid solution but I have experienced the same issue before hand. What I realized was in many cases when I was going to touch the screen my hand was getting close to the sensor on top that shuts off the screen while on a call. You know like when you put it next to your face to ensure that you aren't pushing buttons. Not sure if that is it, but just speaking from personal experience.
Mine does this sometimes , it just did it on this xda app and i know it wasent 30 seconds yet. also sometimes it doesnt lock just comes right back on after i hit the button

This is what I figured out after 20 or so times hitting the power button while on the phone.
The screen automatically comes back on in 1-2 seconds when you pull the phone away from your ear. Once I realized this, I stopped fouling it up by turning the screen off and on again with the power button. It would be nice if this delay could be adjusted, but it seems to work alright as is.
There is nothing wrong worth any of your phones as far as I know it's not adjustable yet.your phone does this while making a call to prevent your face from making a three way call or accidentally hanging up on whoever your talking to. Some one can correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I've heard and read several times and my samsung captivate did the same thing.
If you pull the phone away from your face so that the sensor can pick up the change in ambient light, or what ever it is that it does your screen should come back on shortly.to be honest
I kind of wish it would react faster, but it's still pretty good.

This is the second time on 2 different roms that somehow my phone has been stuck with a black screen and when unlocked the screen stays off. Its a bit hard to explain but pressing power lets the screen to come on for just a second but then it goes off...yet on the black screen you can slide it unlocked (screen stays off) A reboot goes back to the same issue. after many button combos the screen will finally stay lit. The only way I have found to cure it is to uninstall lightflow. (Im really not sure thats what is causing it) If you dont change anything when you lock it your right back into the black screen thing..... Anyone seen this using lightflow or not??
I've had this problem to. I had it when I was using the phone on stock without lightflow, as well as using it with HD revolution and light flow. I have no idea why its doing this though?
I had this problem when I used the app "Wave Launcher". I found the most effective way to keep the screen on is to call the phone, stay in the call, and uninstall the app..

Are you running the 350 mhz idle mod or UVing? Seems like your phone isn't getting enough juice.
I emailed the dev's a few days ago. They came back with the response to uncheck "s6e8aa0 control", which I believe is disabling access to the main screen. I haven't seen the sleep of death since. He also said to look for a future update which removes this option.
Hope that this was a helpful first post!

I have the same problem today! When light flow is active the screen goes on for a second and then stays black.
Sadly I can't find "s6e8aa0 control" in the newest version. Can anyone help?
Got it working. I should use the correct settings^^
But the program is not working how I would like it :/
Im trying to use the motion screenshot thing when you wave your hand from right to left, or vise versa, i can't get that one to work at all. When i cover the phone the music stays quiet.
Thats the only feature i can't seem to get to work.
Anyone?

I was following how the lil image animation does it, and yet it doesn't work :/. Everything else, like the notification motion that shows up when your screen is off after you pass your hand over the phone, when i shut the sounds after placing my hand on the screen, but nothing with the screenshot. When you say Slide across the screen, should i be touching it too?
Figured it out, basicaly, you gotta use it as if you're wiping something off, so yep, karatechop hand, but got to touch the screen lol, I though it was using the darn sensors!
I was having trouble with my face turning speakerphone on or hanging up the call.
Turns out the Rezound proximity sensor adjustment app works on the HTC One as well. Made the sensor turn the screen off from further away and all problems solved.

Did you try my settings? Is the app showing the NEAR/FAR toggle change from farther away? The only way I see you holding it wrong is if the sensor is looking past your head completely. Sensor is in the top left corner of the phone.
I've always had the problem where when I'm done with a call and pull the phone away from my face, the screen doesn't come back on. Happens 99% of the time.

I may have to look into this. Today it seemed like my cheek was pushing all sorts of buttons. Thanks for the post.
I turned on the smart screen feature, and I haven't actually seen it work except for on the lockscreen. On the lockscreen after a few seconds I do see an icon with an eye appear and then the screen turns off. Is this feature only intended to work on the lockscreen?
Mine works all the time

I see the icon pop on the status bar all the time but fail to see if its indicative of the screen actually staying on. Sometimes I'm looking away and see the icon pop up. I guess it just tracks your head.
If you wear glasses, it doesn't work the greatest. I'm assuming light reflection, glare or whatever from the lens. It works with some extra effort tho.
I ended up disabling it. In dark rooms it would turn off the screen when I was looking at it.
I disabled it too. I've seen the eye thing pop up right before the screen shutting off, so I think it shows up when this option is on and it hasn't noticed you looking at it. However, I've had a lot of times where the screen refuses to shut off when I put the phone down lying face up, even though my face is not in view. It just doesn't seem to work well at all.

I guess that's why it hasn't worked for me, you say it worked with some extra effort though. Apart from (IMHO) a feature like this shouldn't require effort, what did you do - or do you mean that without glasses it worked?

It depends how you hold the device, if there's glare from your glasses and whatever lighting situation there is for it to not scan your eye properly. But in most overhead lighting it works with no problem.

The icon appears only sometimes, mostly when I'm in a bright room, similar to face detection on the camera won't work if it's too dark.
When the icon does appear, it keeps my display on. Though it hardly comes up. Where about's is the setting for the feature? I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess it would help on battery drain if it was turned off. Minimal difference but some effect, no?
