Hello,
do you know if it's possible to customize the power control widget in CM9 beta3?

I'd like to have different icons (e.g. "airplane mode" instead of "brightness") but cannot figure out how to do it...
Thanks a lot.

I don't want my battery symbol to change or if it did it would have to only show the percentage of power on it. :s
all the mods I can find in that forum change the battery icon thing.
Download Widgetsoid from the market.
It has more options than you could probably dream of, and if you look carefully through the options when you create a new widget, you will see that you can choose to have the widget in the notification bar in addition of having it on your home, or to have the widget in the notification bar only
Looks cool. Wonder what the battery drain is like compared to the others.

I use Quick Settings from the market. It does everything I need and more. It stays in the notification bar, I click it, and get acess to all I need. I also use battery minder to show 1% step battery icon in the top bar. It shows up in the notification bar too.

I use only the switcher types, and I don't notice any battery drain
Indicator types (such as battery indicator) could expectedly drain some battery though, but I don't use them.
Here is what it looks like on my phone:

1st widget: Wifi on/off -- Bluetooth on/off -- GPS on/off -- Set brightness (with cutomizable levels)
2nd widget: Set ring mode -- Volume levels -- Mount/unmount sd -- Reboot (with the option to have a pop-up menu with turn off / normal reboot / hot reboot / recovery / bootloader)
You can decide how many switches you want on each widget, and there are MANY more available
And for each widget, you can decide if you want it on your home, or in your notification bar, or both
So I was watching this great video on youtube and I noticed at around 3:06 the guy brings up a "recent apps" menu by pressing ctrl+tab (cmd+tab) on his keyboard. Frankly I prefer this simple interface to the one that you usually get when you use the multitasking button.
Does anyone know to bring this up without using a hardware keyboard?

That's the old version of the multitasking menu from 2.x versions where you long pressed home. I believe some custom ROMs offer this option instead of the 4.x style of multitasking.

Couldn't tell you (I've not even rooted yet), but I remember for my other devices with ICS ROMs, it offered either the recent apps from 2.x or the original multitasking 4.x version.
Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Tried it but it only brings up the same menu that the dedicated button does.
I am looking for something similar to the picture in OP.
I'm giving this a bump in case someone knows the solution
This recent apps style is still present in ICS, it's just not the default. When some people over in the Nexus S forum were trying to reassign the hard search key to make it trigger recent apps in ICS, they were successful but their recent apps looked like the pic above (they have since fixed this "problem"). If you could find the command that triggers the above style of recent apps, you could reassign our recent apps button to it. Hope this helps.

Notification Bar Deluxe

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Notification Bar Deluxe is an indispensable tool to get many controls and the
battery percent indication always at hand.
Thanks to Notification Bar Deluxe you can add 6 toggles in the system notifications bar
that you can choose between:
-Wi-Fi
-Mobile Data
-Bluetooth
-GPS
-Rotation
-Sounds
-Auto Brightness
-Flight Mode
-Auto Sync
-Torch
-LockScreen
-Wi-Fi Access Point
-QuickSettings (A set of controls that allows you to quickly manage, through an Activity, many preferences)
You can also choose only 1 toggle to help the owners of previous versions of Android.
It's also possibile to choose what action do on click on each toggle:
-Switch On/Off (to turn on / off function immediately)
-Open Setting (open the preference in system settings)
Instead of occupying the Status Bar with a useless icon, the indication of the battery percentage will help you to know the state of charge.
You can also customize the Notification Bar Deluxe choosing one of the following themes:
-Ice Cream Sandwich
-MIUI
-Sense
-Galaxy S3
-LG O4X
For each theme, you can choose the notification background.
Practice, intuitive, customizable, convenient and fast.
Possible future developments:
-Adding more toggles
-Adding more themes

****THIS APP REQUIRES ROOT****
This simply disables the Power Saver Notification that appears on HTC Jellybean Sense devices. Reboot is required for change to take effect.

You can't do that with all Sense 5.0 based ROMs, so JMZ's app is still useful
Notice how you can't disable it.....

That doesnt work for me either but I have the option to force stop it, should I force stop and then try
This is probably a really dumb question. I seem to have accidentally enabled a setting which makes the status bar and navigation buttons and the top and button hidden unless I drag them in from the top or bottom. I want them to always be shown, which is how it has been since I got the phone.
It was fine until earlier today when I was doing something else (tapping pretty fast) and I think I double tapped home, which brings up settings and I changes some setting. I thought it would be easy to find what setting I accidentally changed but I can't seem to find it.
I'm not even sure if its a setting in the rom, launcher, or something else.
I'm using viperone rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/rom-viperonem9-1-0-0-tweaks-hub-t3072773

I don't see that option anywhere under 'change navigation buttons' (it was the first place I looked). Here's a screenshot. Is this the place I should expect to find it?

Note the annoying empty space at the bottom where the nav buttons would be, expect they are pointlessly hidden.
Maybe you activated the fullscreen mode? Press and hold the power button and disable it. If you changed the power menu items in venom tweaks you need to check immersive mode under tweaks>misc>power menu items to make that option visable, again.

That fullscreen mode setting in the power menu was the problem, thanks. I never though too look at the power menu settings. Apparently there's nothing in any other settings menu about this mode, or at least I didn't see it.

For future reference you can also hide the status bar and the navbar in venom tweaks. There are a ton of changes you can make in that app so be careful so you can undo anything you do not like.
^^this worked^^
